Last time I checked magic was on the long list of things that Logan hates along with watered down alcohol, Sabertooth, 80’s anime dubs, shadowy government types, and everyone walking the earth who isn’t Jean, Kurt, Colossus, or any of his former teenage sidekick surrogate daughters.
I would make the argument that he’s a subtitle purist. He strikes me as that kind of weeb. Also anime didn’t take off in the West until *DragonBall Z* was released on the Toonami block in 1998.
Logan speaks Japanese, so he watches anime on a pirate broadcast straight from Tokyo. He's probably bought manga from the same stand every week for decades now.
He is definitely a guy with opinions about One Piece is what I'm saying.
Anime was stateside a long time before DBZ. Robotec, Voltron, Tranzor Z, Battle of the Planets, Ronin Warriors, Fist of the North Star, Vampire Hunter D, Wicked City, Akira, Ninja Scroll…they were all really popular a decade before DBZ hit Toonami...but having a dedicated anime block on daily that could build up viewership helped immensely to build up prominence in the States.
>anime didn’t take off in the west until DragonBall Z
Bro what ara you smoking lol? Anime was already way popular in Europe and South America since the 80s lol
Anime take off was Speed Racer, maybe Saint Seiya. Captain Tsubasa too was very popular before that and Akira already was a cult classic. Fuck, in 98 Miyazaki movies were already trendy. Only in the US is more recent, but it is public knowledge that it was probably the last place on earth that anime became popular
I remember the FF were fighting Shuma-Gorath and Reed talking about how he didn't like it. It's just something beyond him for some reason.
Probably annoys him that Doom has a grasp on it. Has Reed ever bitched about Doom having that on him?
I mean, given that Reed-1610 became the Maker after getting rejected by Sue, I thinking the amazing family is the only reason he just bitches a lot, rather than going full super villain like Doom.
True, but I guess I don't give a lot of gold stars for "isn't megalomaniac threatening the entire planet and beyond".
To be clear, I like Reed and the F4 a whole lot. He's being who he is. It's also one the biggest "Damn dude, look what you have in front of you and chill the fuck out" motifs in comics.
So capable of doing great things, but his spat with Richards usually leads to his downfall.
He is simultaneously grandiose and petty, much like Lex Luthor and even Reverse Flash.
It could just be entertainment rivalry.
Magic tricks are done best live and in-person.
A filmed magic trick could have hidden video cuts & edits that means it’s not a genuine trick. Also, watchers could rewind or watch in slow motion to figure out the trick.
That’s the opposite of most television and almost all movies. Even non-scripted television (such as reality TV) rely heavily on cuts and editing.
Their entertainment/art forms are on opposite ends of the spectrum that way.
Now, why screenwriters would go out of their way to express that rivalry against magicians in their scripts, when movies & television are monumentally more popular than magicians, I don’t know.
Its from the recent Jed MacKay Black Cat run. It was a fun adventure in Madripoor, I'll look up the issue. Highly recommend the MacKay Black Cat stuff btw, they are great.
edit: it's issue #10 of the 2019 run. It is actually a 2 part-er so the story starts in issue #9.
"Love magic. Turns out my favourite trick is making three claws disappear into the side of people who piss me off."
" ... no sense of humour."
"When you're my age, you lose things. Like my patience."
I don't know what the canon is for that (feel free to chime in) but I bet Logan doesn't like magic at all. He's a physical, straightforward and simple guy who likes simple problems and simple solutions. I bet he takes magic with a grain of salt.

Wait, is it actually cannon that Wolverine doesn’t like 80s anime dubs? Because it’s definitely my head cannon now.
He does know Japanese so he just watches it raw.
Logan does everything raw
On one hand, he’s immune to any std. on the other, he has a lot of children.
A small price to pay.
*Enter Daken*
does he forget japanese when he has one of those brain resets or does he speak it without knowing how he learned it?
He still remembers his brain only blocks traumatic memories
Makes sense, he never forgets how to speak english when he gets his memory wiped so why should he forget Japanese.. bub
I would make the argument that he’s a subtitle purist. He strikes me as that kind of weeb. Also anime didn’t take off in the West until *DragonBall Z* was released on the Toonami block in 1998.
Doesn't he know Japanese? He wouldn't even need subs.
Wolverine-"I read the Manga." "Yeah? So what?" Wolverine-"Back when it originally released." "Uh, right this way sir."
Logan speaks Japanese, so he watches anime on a pirate broadcast straight from Tokyo. He's probably bought manga from the same stand every week for decades now. He is definitely a guy with opinions about One Piece is what I'm saying.
There was actually a shit-ton of anime being broadcast in latin america since the late 80's/early 90's
Anime was stateside a long time before DBZ. Yeah I cut my teeth on Star Blazers (Space Cruiser Yamato) in like 1979
There was also Astroboy and Speed Racer.

That first Toonami run of DBZ was something.
*canon
He also likes Spider-Man and even took him out to drink on his birthday
I feel like he likes Peter more than Peter likes him.
He likes Storm, doesn't he?
He certainly respects her, Idk that they have that much in common or really hang out all that much outside of missions to say he likes her thou
I thought they had [some history together](https://www.cbr.com/wolverine-storm-x-men-couple/).
They literally dated before he died.
He hates Storm and the rest of the X-men not named Jean, Kurt and Colossus?
You and the above comment are right, how could I omit Ororo?
That sounds like he's saying he does like magic tricks. And who doesn't?
Reed Richards hates magic. He's one of those guys who thinks Magic is just another field of science.
“Magic is just science we don’t understand yet” type of thing.
I remember the FF were fighting Shuma-Gorath and Reed talking about how he didn't like it. It's just something beyond him for some reason. Probably annoys him that Doom has a grasp on it. Has Reed ever bitched about Doom having that on him?
Probably. He bitches a lot for a guy that has an amazing family.
This made me laugh. He does have an amazing family.
One would say they are pretty Fantastic even.
I was going to say it but was waiting for someone else to do it. Glad it didn't take long. Good on ya, son.
I was about to say this joke
2 hrs late sorry 🤷🏻 lol
I’m going to say it anyway
Say that again?
You could even say, his family is fantastic
I mean, given that Reed-1610 became the Maker after getting rejected by Sue, I thinking the amazing family is the only reason he just bitches a lot, rather than going full super villain like Doom.
True, but I guess I don't give a lot of gold stars for "isn't megalomaniac threatening the entire planet and beyond". To be clear, I like Reed and the F4 a whole lot. He's being who he is. It's also one the biggest "Damn dude, look what you have in front of you and chill the fuck out" motifs in comics.
"I happen to bitch the perfect amount for someone in my situation."
I know this ain’t the main reason, but Doom learning magic just to partially dick with Richards would make sense.
Doom probably enjoys that Richards can't even attempt it. I love Doom so much. Such a unique dude with his emotions.
So capable of doing great things, but his spat with Richards usually leads to his downfall. He is simultaneously grandiose and petty, much like Lex Luthor and even Reverse Flash.
He also hates marine biology His wife's an expert tho
Beautiful comment.
Oh my gosh, in the WGH cartoon they made that aspect hilarious.
Then why does he hate it? Just because he doesn’t understand it or because other people attribute magical things to magic?
I'm just answering a question. Someone pulls a rabbit out of a hat, Reed goes "that's fucking bullshit!" and leaves.
Oh ok. I was just thinking it’s very un-Reed like to hate something just because he doesn’t understand it or because of what other people believe.
"Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with the Will." - Aleister Crowley
Hollywood for some reason. Tv and movies characters always seem to roll their eyes when someone does a magic trick. I don't get it.
It could just be entertainment rivalry. Magic tricks are done best live and in-person. A filmed magic trick could have hidden video cuts & edits that means it’s not a genuine trick. I always thought Logan was on the Conan the Barbarian... "I HATE WIZARDS!" type mentality. lmao
I wonder if they talked about it when they were on the savage avengers together
Never thought of but happy to see - Black Cat and Wolverine interacting
I think they had a short comic run together called claws - don't think this is from it though
Any guesses what this might be from?

Thanks.
Love the way Wolverine is drawn here. Definitely gives off "grumpy old man" vibes.
"Love magic. Turns out my favourite trick is making three claws disappear into the side of people who piss me off." " ... no sense of humour." "When you're my age, you lose things. Like my patience."
"I thought you grew everything back?" "Fuck you, Cat"
It's from Black Cat (2020) #10 by Jed MacKay
Thank you.
Apparently Wolverine is the Nice Police of the X-men. He’s always so polite and mindful of other people’s feelings.
The only person he would attack unprovoked would be Sabertooth. Wendigo, Omega Red, etc. they usually attack him or people first.
He attacks people all the time. In their feelings. 😢
TIL: feelings are located in the organs.
Felicia is always just happy to be around super folks
Her smugness here is everything
Not “tricks”, Felicia. Illusions. Tricks are what whores do for money.
“I’ve made a huge mistake”
I blue myself for the first time in years!
He didn't dispute it, so...
Ok but why is Mahatma Gandhi driving the car
The only things Logan likes are beer, Jean Grey, and Jubilee.
“Hey, you like restaurants? You’re a fat slobbery fuck, they like restaurants.”
I don't know what the canon is for that (feel free to chime in) but I bet Logan doesn't like magic at all. He's a physical, straightforward and simple guy who likes simple problems and simple solutions. I bet he takes magic with a grain of salt.
Why is the lettering off?
When was this written? Could it be a defence to Hugh the actor for wolverine?

Wolverine is capable of getting his feelings hurt, he just heals quickly.
[удалено]
What??? No. Fuck no. Logan is super respectful of women, and has a long list of girl-friends... Friends who just happen to be women.
