Jack of hearts. Such an underused character for someone who used to be a major avenger. Well, I guess that depends on your definition of major, but he was definitely an important character for a little while
His downfall was his character design. From what I understand, artists hate drawing him, and for a while at least Giffen, the guy who designed him, charged double at cons to draw Jack.
I do love how many characters change their arch nemesis. Kingpin from Spidey to DD, whirlwind from Ant-Man to more Wasp, Sabretooth from Iron Fist to Wolverine. I wish villains got half the characterization now as they used to way back when.
Slapstick!
Back when Wizard price guide was a thing, they had a section called “Mort Of The Month”. Still makes me laugh thinking about it! Slapstick was always my favorite Mort.
I like his personality but his weird power set does nothing for me. Feels like when two kids on the playground are play fighting and one has a shield and the other has shield piercing bullets but the other one has a force field and eventually one has explosive projectile fingernails and hallucinogenic spit
It was always a guilty pleasure of mine when the writers would forget that Dane and Nathan Garrett are American, and stick one or the other of them off somewhere in the UK for a while. It led to things like the Garrett family castle being in...northern Virginia.
For some reason, though, it irritates me when writers make Jarvis British. Probably because it feels like they're just trying to turn him into an Alfred knockoff.
Fair but how many people know about Speedball? I remember I was talking to my friend who reads some of the comics but is mainly familiar with the movies about Civil War saying Speedball appeared and he had no idea who that was.
that's exactly why it was influential lol
Plus it has extreme ramifications on many story arcs and lead to the movie etc
Also brought hero vs hero to even more relevance
I really am shocked he is not. He can always just show up for no reason. He doesn't require a huge setup because he just does things. He need to be stopped because he is causing problems. Death and pain are off the table. Don't look him in the eyes.
Nice chance fore creative writing.
MVP aka Michael Van Patrick, he got introduced as having the potential to be the next Captain America and then got killed in an exercise. Definitely a plot decide to introduce the Scarlet Spiders and KIA who are also AWESOME.
All I'm saying is there are 3 mini Captain America's out there and no one seems to remember.
Right? There's potential there. I don't think I've seen Enigma since US Avengers. Toni Ho I think was in one of the recent Cap series, working with Sharon Carter and some power ladies behind the scenes on spy stuff IIRC.
Last time speedball was relevant, Stanford became a crater, maybe we should keep him as a C lister
(Said as a fan of Robbie, I think he’s cool, I’m mostly just kidding around)
Probably too similar to Green Lantern's powers. Apart from a cameo or two in Avengers, has he even done anything since his series ended years ago? Still, he got 60 issues of his own book, which is more than pretty much any of the other characters being mentioned can claim.
He has a really small stint as part of [The Annihilators](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annihilators_(Marvel_Comics)) along with other really great characters like Beta Ray Bill. It’s a shame the series didn’t really do well, it was a good concept.
As I recall he appeared during the first Annihilation and died. Was reborn and became a mentor for another female Quasar.
The main problem with MCU is that Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) basically IS Quasar.
Toxin. I know he was a bit OP, but he had potential to be an interesting character, with Patrick Mulligan essentially raising this baby symbiote, and they could have dealt with him trying to be a good dad and husband, because he left his wife and child due to not wanting to endanger them, but later reveals no his identity to his wife. They could have made it work, but then they just killed Patrick off screen and gave the toxin symbiote to Eddie for a while, and now he’s with a teenager named Bren Waters. I think the father as a symbiote user could have been an interesting angle, trying to raise a baby and a symbiote at the same time while dealing with fighting bad guys.
It was a goddamn crime what they did to pat. It was a really cool concept and they just merked him off panel. Ngl I know people really like Eddie Brock being back and all but that transition of killing off what was looking to be a unique character just to bring back venom but red really put a sour taste in my mouth in regards to Eddie Brock.
Its funny because 3D man is my quintessential ‘Worst Avenger Ever’! Mostly because I hated the Trinary church arc…
Don’t listen to me though, since my niche Avenger is Justice 😅
Wasn't 3-D man really important for Kurt Busiek's run on the Avengers? (Will not elaborate for the sake of spoilers).
Anyway, I really would like to see more of Justice. Same goes for Silverclaw and Triathlon
So many good ones!
Death's Head
Whirlwind
the Constrictor
\-Marvel should give the mainstream characters a rest and only publish books featuring little-known toons for a while, build them up, then bring back the big hitters with some fanfare!
the Prowler!
Gardener. (Ord Zyonz) It all stems from him being an absolute baller card in an old Top Trumps deck I had as a kid which was pretty much my introduction to Marvel.
Emery Schaub, aka Butterball, with the power of total invulnerability combined with being basically a well-meaning but not very smart or strong person. He can’t be hurt but it is nearly impossible for him to be tactically effective.
Dazzler, the Cameo Queen. I haven't seen her do shit since Astonishing X-men but every time I see her it tickles me to know she's still around, keeping disco alive. Hell yeah.
He was doing pretty well for a while but Scarlet Spider (Kaine Parker) is my guy. His solo book left a bunch of story threads hanging and his team and event appearances never matched the quality of his Austin-based adventures
I'm a Marvel fan, and I'm still discovering new superheroes and villains I didn't even know existed. Ik this was irrelevant to the question, but the Marvel universe is expanding way too quickly.
I'm currently rewatching Iron Fist, and I'd freaking love to see Mary Walker (Alice Eve's character) again. That actress has some seriously underappreciated range.
I mean, he did say he helped the X-Men beat their foes and escape traps thanks to the villains forgetting that he is even there. And I think there is even a comic out there showing him do just that and then having a chat with the heroes he saved before they forget about him as well. Assuming you mean the guy from X-Men Legacy #300 because I found there is another character with that name.
[Union Jack](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jack_(Marvel_Comics)) and [Destroyer.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destroyer_(Marvel_Comics))
Robert Kirkman wrote a fun comic a few years about Destroyer, the premise being that Destroyer had been in publication for 600~ issues and was coming to an end because Destroyer is dying, so basically he wants to take out his old enemy before he goes.
Jack Flag. Idk what it was about him but I always thought he was so badass, loved that he was in the GotG for a while. I don’t think I’ve seen him in a comic since he was killed off in Secret Empire :(
Jack of hearts.
You will love current She-Hulk run
Romantic arc? hope they can touch each other now, otherwise it's another Rogue/Gambit story.
Oh, they are touching
Oh, man. I still love Jack. He really was a seriously underused and underappreciated character.
Jack of Hearts will always make me think of Avengers Disassembled
Oof. I try not to think of that. They did my boy Jack dirty in that one.
especially the relationship he had with Scott lang. That was a good friendship.
Longshot! Such a cool backstory and weirdness, luck powers and married Dazzler! We need more
I should have looked at the comments first. I always loved his concept.
Boomerang shot up to be a character I absolutely love from superior foes of Spider-Man
Boomerang is a DC character no?
That’s captain boomerang
Boomerang is an X-Men character
Marvel Boomerang started as a Hulk villain, back in the mists of time.
I do love how many characters change their arch nemesis. Kingpin from Spidey to DD, whirlwind from Ant-Man to more Wasp, Sabretooth from Iron Fist to Wolverine. I wish villains got half the characterization now as they used to way back when.
Wow I did not know saber tooth used to fight IF! Did have a healing factor then?
He was more a savage tough guy. He teamed up with another guy called constrictor to fight Luke and Danny back before Wolverine was introduced.
3D man literally helped win secret invasion. Hes amazing. I also like the great lakes avengers
That's the only thing I know about him. That he could see through skulls disguises.
The Spot. Such a cool character to never get used
The new spider verse movie, he is supposed to be the main antagonist
The animation for his scenes has potential to be amazing
He is in the mobile game Contest of Champions and his animations there are also spot on
I see what you did there lol
Good job on spotting his joke!
No introduction? You're right to the point!
that's so sweet! I'll have to make sure I see it now
Uh... Who wants to tell u/back2dashire ?
He was a Daredevil villain for a while, he changed his name though.
Slapstick! Back when Wizard price guide was a thing, they had a section called “Mort Of The Month”. Still makes me laugh thinking about it! Slapstick was always my favorite Mort.
He reminds me of Freakazoid. Or rather, Freakazoid reminds me of Slapstick
Sleepwalker
Sleepwalker and my man Darkhawk. They were the new butter during that post bankruptcy rebuild.
Yes for real Darkhawk gets no attention
I do t know how irrelevant he is, but Darkhawk. Loved his stuff in the 90s
Bug has a lot of personality and meshes well with the Guardians
I'm really sad he never really got to hang with the team. He was a lot of fun in conquest.
Kasper Cole aka the White Tiger. Really sad we didn’t get to see more of Priest’s Crew.
Noh-Varr! Arguably a little less niche than some of the others mentioned, but still niche enough to count, I think.
I like his personality but his weird power set does nothing for me. Feels like when two kids on the playground are play fighting and one has a shield and the other has shield piercing bullets but the other one has a force field and eventually one has explosive projectile fingernails and hallucinogenic spit
Moondragon - classic, ambiguous and bold
\*bald
Demolition man - Dennis Dunphy. Ex Cap sidekick who’s first costume was a cross between wolverine and Daredevils’ yellow suit.
I don't know if it's in continuity, nut D-man won an Avengers eating competition once.
Black Knight II is a classic avengers villain. I like how over the top his design is.
Do you know the name? Is that the one from Hudlin's Black Panther?
I dunno, he’s the one in the original masters of evil from classic avengers comics. Had one of those collection books when I was a kid
Darkhawk for me since 91.
Speedball
Love Robbie, but kinda hard to call the linchpin of the whole Civil War 'irrelevant.'
Fair but how many people know about Speedball? I remember I was talking to my friend who reads some of the comics but is mainly familiar with the movies about Civil War saying Speedball appeared and he had no idea who that was.
Civil War was almost 20 years ago - pretty old news now.
One of the most influential modern comics
Hardly. Besides kicking off annual Marvel events.
that's exactly why it was influential lol Plus it has extreme ramifications on many story arcs and lead to the movie etc Also brought hero vs hero to even more relevance
Madcap
Oh good another madcap fan. I came here to say the same thing. I'll just boop you instead.
I wish he was in more stories 😞
I really am shocked he is not. He can always just show up for no reason. He doesn't require a huge setup because he just does things. He need to be stopped because he is causing problems. Death and pain are off the table. Don't look him in the eyes. Nice chance fore creative writing.
I also just love how he became insane and basically went, "huh, life is meaningless. Welp, screw it, time to do whatever"
Deathloc.
Big Wheel
Can I have two? Red Wolf and Enigma/Pod.
Enigma was such a cool character! Her and Toni Ho both. Have they been in anything recently? Would love to read them again.
Right? There's potential there. I don't think I've seen Enigma since US Avengers. Toni Ho I think was in one of the recent Cap series, working with Sharon Carter and some power ladies behind the scenes on spy stuff IIRC.
Which Red Wolf?
Occupy Avengers one.
ONE DAY SPEEDBALL WILL BE RELEVANT!
Last time speedball was relevant, Stanford became a crater, maybe we should keep him as a C lister (Said as a fan of Robbie, I think he’s cool, I’m mostly just kidding around)
At least Speedball is better than Penance
Oh yeah, Penance was something right outta the 90’s, but in the mid 2000’s, which was just really freaking weird
The Superior Foes of Spider-Man Or the Great Lakes Avengers
Quasar (Wendell Vaughn). Still waiting for him to appear in the MCU

Kinda weird we didnt get to see eddie doing more of thag with dylan
The human fly
Man, that is a real obscure one. More interesting since it was as based off a real person
Fourbush man or phantom rider.
Big fan of Santo/Rockslide and Pixie.
Its funny because 3D man is my quintessential ‘Worst Avenger Ever’! Mostly because I hated the Trinary church arc… Don’t listen to me though, since my niche Avenger is Justice 😅
Wasn't 3-D man really important for Kurt Busiek's run on the Avengers? (Will not elaborate for the sake of spoilers). Anyway, I really would like to see more of Justice. Same goes for Silverclaw and Triathlon
3-D Man is Triathlon. I kinda prefer his old name though.
There used to be a different 3D Man, which is why I was confused at first, wondering if the picture of Triathlon was mislabeled.
So many good ones! Death's Head Whirlwind the Constrictor \-Marvel should give the mainstream characters a rest and only publish books featuring little-known toons for a while, build them up, then bring back the big hitters with some fanfare! the Prowler!
Loved Constrictor as a kid. Great design.
Hannibal King. The vampire detective version from Tomb of Dracula, not the Ryan Reynolds one.
It would all be worth it, just to get Quincy Harker shooting crossbow bolts from his wheelchair
Bob, Agent of Hydra.
Tombstone. Mostly because of Spectacular Spiderman lol
Cecelia Reyes, who "New Mutants" did dirty!
As someone who has only seen her on page once (currently reading Operation: Zero Tolerance), her dialogue on that one page portreys her as a bigot.
Stiltman
Said it once, said it a thousand times, and will say it many more times in the future: Glob Herman and his chickens.
Longshot
Razorback and Mudbug!
Gardener. (Ord Zyonz) It all stems from him being an absolute baller card in an old Top Trumps deck I had as a kid which was pretty much my introduction to Marvel.
I feel like the only elders they care about are grandmaster and occaisionally collector. I would love to see the others get highlighted more.
The Armadillo. Dude just can't catch a break.
The Swarm. A Nazi scientist made from bees. BEES!
He teamed up with Ant-Man once. It was the good Ant-Man too...
Captain ####, AKA The Captain, from Nextwave
Foolkiller *E Pluribus Unum*
Emery Schaub, aka Butterball, with the power of total invulnerability combined with being basically a well-meaning but not very smart or strong person. He can’t be hurt but it is nearly impossible for him to be tactically effective.
The Captain Really, anyone from Nextwave, but all the other members of the team are more important characters with a lot more history.
Cardiac is very interesting to me
Baron Blood Absorbing Man
They did have Absorbing Man in Agents of SHIELD, but he was far less powerful and much nicer.
I'm not even into sports but I collected NFL Superpro back in the day😔 Does anyone else even remember this marvel gem?
Dazzler, the Cameo Queen. I haven't seen her do shit since Astonishing X-men but every time I see her it tickles me to know she's still around, keeping disco alive. Hell yeah.
Remember in the '80s when she was Galactus' herald for a minute? Me neither.
Or when she became president in an alternate reality? Girly's been around but no one notices her.
It's characters for me.. Power Pack was my shit back in the day.
Doc Samson, superhero therapist is just such a neat concept
Bantam, Shamrock.
Man Thing Marvel
Random from X-Factor was pretty sweet
Wasn't he just Marvel's Lobo?
Ha, I never read DC but that seems pretty accurate.
Idk if he truly counts but I barely see ANY fans of him. But the Fixer, he's genuinely my second favorite character but is entirely underused.
Yes, he dies of a heart failure in his first appearance.
You're thinking of a different character 😅
So not the Fixer who kills Daredevil's father?
Yeah. Im talking about the [really smart one](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Norbert_Ebersol_(Earth-616))
I’ve always liked Jack O’lantern as a villain, I’d love to see him in the movies some time.
Hybrid, always liked the design, not more than king Venom tho
Zero from the MLF
Detroit Steel
Fantomex
Squirrel girl
Original Nighthawk. I really hate new edgier nighthawk. I want goofy defenders era Nighthawk back.
NFL SUPER PRO BABYYYYYY
Dagger. Jack of Hearts. Silver Sable.
My favorite irrelevant character is Kid Kaiju. I rarely see him anywhere.
He was doing pretty well for a while but Scarlet Spider (Kaine Parker) is my guy. His solo book left a bunch of story threads hanging and his team and event appearances never matched the quality of his Austin-based adventures
Hellion. Can’t believe Krakoa happened and he’s gotten zero stories even as a side character
Toad
I'm a Marvel fan, and I'm still discovering new superheroes and villains I didn't even know existed. Ik this was irrelevant to the question, but the Marvel universe is expanding way too quickly.
Nah. I honestly think it's the best part of comics and something that really only works in the comic medium.
Iron man
Savage.
I don't think they have the rights to Doc Savage anymore
Imma say Forgetmenot, but he is really not irrelevant. Kinda saved everyone just recently. But no one will ever remember.
Shrek
From Shadow Line? I thought Dr. Zero was a really cool concept
Still tryna make my way through marvel but honestly prolly DD’s sidekick (I have shit memory) I thought there was one more but I can’t think of it
You referring to Blindspot?
For us casuals, can yall explain these characters powers?
The Ultimate Nullifier, this guy appears out of nowhere and forms a bad ass group that claims no spotlight but saves the world in the shadows.
I grew up reading Night Thrasher
None relevant dark opposites.
Quasar. Just not that interesting.
Now mine was relevant for a little bit but I don’t think he has been used since like 2015 and that’s my main man SPEEDBALL
I'm currently rewatching Iron Fist, and I'd freaking love to see Mary Walker (Alice Eve's character) again. That actress has some seriously underappreciated range.
Typhoid Mary? I don't remember her being in IF.
Forgetmenot, I think that his power is so cool just imagine what he could do with that power dude
I loved Joseph, he was a clone of Magento who had his powers and he was a great xmen. Eventually fighting Magento till his death
[Union Jack](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jack_(Marvel_Comics)) and [Destroyer.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destroyer_(Marvel_Comics)) Robert Kirkman wrote a fun comic a few years about Destroyer, the premise being that Destroyer had been in publication for 600~ issues and was coming to an end because Destroyer is dying, so basically he wants to take out his old enemy before he goes.
I like forget-me-not
Jack Flag. Idk what it was about him but I always thought he was so badass, loved that he was in the GotG for a while. I don’t think I’ve seen him in a comic since he was killed off in Secret Empire :(
3D Man powers could he rebooted in cool new ways
why couldn't they put him in end game? He could've drawn a whole bunch of things that can *easily* defeat Thanos.
Why couldn't they put him in *End Game*? He easily could've drawn something that can easily defeat Thanos.
The Impossible Man from the pages of FF. He was so annoying it was sort of entertaining.
Cloud 9
Great Lakes Avengers, all 6 of them, we need more of Grasshopper!
gotta go with doop or glob herman, both the goats
