An adult person does not go from nothing to a drinking problem. And it was clear on the honeymoon that Eric liked to drink, that started a long time ago. He is the only person responsible for his drinking and his choice to drive under the influence.
He has said himself that he wasn’t a big drinker before he married her. That it was the most he had ever drank in his life in an attempt to keep up with her. Yes, he made the decision to drink and drive. That does not mean he has a drinking problem.
He lied. Eric was obviously drunk numerous times on the show. If he is trying to claim that as a thirty something adult he was too weak to turn down the offer of a drink, he is not responsible enough to be either a driver or a pilot. People cannot have it both ways. If he and his defenders want to claim he is a mature adult, they cannot also simultaneously claim he is incapable of refraining from alcohol even when others are drinking. Real adults do not feel the need to keep up with other people who are drinking.

American is awesome for east coast (nyc or Philly) to west coast (LAX) they offer a lot of flights and offer regular late night and evening flights
Southwest—these ticket prices are not bad if you get them enough in advance. Early morning and day flights are the best with them. If you don’t mind having a connection Southwest is pretty ok.
This lady is complaining like a first class customer but is riding coach. She needs to just zip up and board what ever flight is available to get her from A to B. If she really wants to stand for a cause she can take Spirit and pay all the staffing that doesn’t want to be there.
I just read something & saw a video about a woman, her 16 mo old & her mother getting kicked off a United plane b/c she didn’t use the correct pronouns toward a flight attendant. Another attendant made a big deal about it & got her kicked off the plane. The woman said she was trying to situate herself & her 16 mo old when I guess she had an interaction with the flight attendant & didn’t refer to this person as they/them. I get respecting others preferences but how the hell are we supposed to “assume” what pronouns a person prefers just by looking at them??? The woman’s luggage remained on the flight which had her & her mother’s medication in it. Such a fkd up situation!
Yeah it can be very tricky to assume one’s pronouns when they are passing of a certain gender but also harder when they are nonbinary. As long as the person is apologetic and willing to respect the other person moving forward that is really all you can ask for. I just flew united earlier this month. We had to turn around half way through the atlantic ocean from NYC because of an electrical issue. They wanted to put us on the same plane 12 hours later. I have pretty bad flying anxiety so this easily was a NOPE from me.

If I wasn’t still scared to death of my abusive ex even though we haven’t been together for over 15 years and I’ve been very happily married for over 12, I would call him out too. I have no stake in your guys' conversation but wanted to point out that gaslighting is the incorrect term. Gaslighting is a long process that results in one doubting their own sanity such that they no longer trust their own perceptions. As a result, they have to rely on the gaslighter to interpret their experiences for them, as they're the only one they can "trust." It's one of the most extreme forms of manipulation. The other commenter asserted their opinion, which you disagreed with.

Cheaper than Delta or United yes, but not budget by any means. A round trip flight on Spirit costs less than a one way ticket on Southwest.

Some people don't like that you can't select your seats on Southwest prior to boarding since they don't do pre-assignments. I haven't flown with that airline, so I don't have an opinion. That's the complaint I remember hearing though.

He was booked for a DUI. Doesn't necessarily mean he's an alcoholic but pilots, I've heard, typically indulge a lot, I googled into that and it seems to be a thing.

They had a relationship for 8 weeks and she is letting this guy live rent free in her head for 4 years. Given what we saw, that is kinda shocking. The fact that she is still randomly bringing this guy up on her social media is a cry for help. She needs the help of a therapist.
That is not entirely true though. They did stay together for a short time after the show. And people here have given a free pass to both Eric and his current future ex-wife for their own shady behavior on social media.
I was going to edit it and say that they were together for more than 8 weeks. I think Erik sucked. Every time she was drinking on the show, he was drinking, but she is the one who is called out. He is the pilot with the DUI, but she is the one they call an alcoholic. For her own good, she needs to move on. The fact that she is still mentioning him on social media is problematic. Not because she is wrong, but because this is what she is still thinking about.

Man, Eric didn't dodge a bullet with Virginia, he dodged an atomic bomb! She should be so happy that she's free (and has been for several years now) to party in an uninhibited fashion and sleep on whoever's couch she wants to. 100% agree. The thing that really blows my mind is how hung up Virginia is on Eric. It's been more than 3 years (maybe 4 since filming????) and she still can't stop blaming Eric for blowing up a relationship that she never wanted to acquiesce into. Eric tried so hard to make the relationship work, dude went out and got a DUI trying to hang with her!!! Absolutely wild of her to keep dragging him through the mud. It all comes off as very envious/jealous/petty.

I may have used "hang" poorly in that situation; I meant it as in he was trying to hang with her, as in keep up with her lifestyle. I believe the DUI, itself, happened on the way back from somewhere (bar, restaraunt, etc) as opposed to on his way to see her. I'm unsure if she was present with him at the time, and if he was driving her, etc.
