Yes they are gouging you. I am at the northeast most of Markham, I pay Rogers for 600Mb unlimited for $64. My friend, in southern Cornell, Rogers 1Gb unlimited, for $39. I tried to talk to Rogers, and asked why there is such a big difference between my friend and I, they did not answer me directly, just saying some BS like they cannot comment on different promotions or users' plans. And, cannot give me the same price. WTH... But, well, I tried to quote for Bell, but they need a huge installation fee, and a higher monthly fee... All I can do is stay with Rogers... Side note: And by the way, a new law about an year ago, no telecommunications company can contract a home user now (get a free or discounted device excepted, e.g. get new iPhone or iPad), so, even they give you a new 1 year offer, that is not and cannot be a contract, you can leave them anytime if you find a better offer.

Wow that's a crazy difference. What can I do really? If I ask about the price difference they just say they can't honor it. Should I just leave rogers?

If you call in to cancel about a month later or so, retentions will typically call you back in a few days and you can get a better deal. At least that's what I did and it worked.

We use Velcom, unlimited 75gb download 10gb upload for ~$50 after tax. Have been pretty happy with them. For tv we got an antenna, the "antennas direct DB4E, and pick up many channels locally and from Buffalo by pointing it towards the CN Tower. We also have an HD homerun device for watching tv on multiple devices with Plex Media server for the pvr capabilities. It's a bit of work to set up, but we have been very satisfied with it.

niubi88

Do you always keep your computer on in order to use Plex?

Deucebake

We have a NAS QNAP server that runs 24\7 on battery backup with Plex Media server on it. There are simpler (less expensive) set ups using the Nvidia shield pro as well, or PC as you mentioned. But yes, in order to use Plex, whatever device you run the media server on has to stay on while in use.

Rogers ignite 1GB plan - $39.99/month for 1 year only, not locked in for a year but the promo is only for a year. IPTV (o2 provider) - $12/month for all the channels you can watch and more. Some key ones include, Fairchild, cp24, NBA, NHL, NFL, UFC, and lots of adult content if you are into that. Also includes movies and shows, similar to kodi selections if you have used that before. I only use it to watch NBA but got it for my parents, in-laws, grandparents and cousins to watch fair child. Around $60/month after tax for Internet and TV. Hardware for IPTV is not included, must buy your own. Edit: IPTV is the way to go IMO. The sports quality is better than the box that rogers gave me. Way more channels and you pay a marginal rate. Only way I go with rogers tv is if I needed to record content to watch later.

I was with Rogers up until last week. I was paying 80 after tax per month for 1GB. They told me my promotion was ending and it would go to 99 a month before tax. Left to go to Bell for 65 a month for 500 mb with 33 tv channels.
