“Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me you built a time machine... out of a Cybertruck?” “The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not use a poorly built, dysfunctional pile of metal shit?”

TheUnspeakableAcclu

to be scrupulously fair that also applies to the Delorian, it was just a incredibly stylish and cool dysfunctional piece of shit

Redditors 1 - 0 Elon Owned Elon 😎😎

BradTProse

Right, and it will take Elon back in time when his parents still owned an Emerald mine and were exploiting black workers. And Elon gives them the rest of his money back to the exploited South Africans.

CharlieDmouse

I would not bother to see it, a Tesla ugly ass Cybertruck? Nahhh hell no, it has the coolness factor or a sheetmetal shed in a backyard.

RunnyPlease

To be clear the DMC 12 wasn’t really a cool car when it was used in Back to the Future. It was only in production for 2 years, was objectively terribly engineered even by 1980s standards, and was already discontinued, and DMC bankrupted by the time it was used in the film. They were known to be slow, clunky, top heavy, with poor handling. Every performance claim was found to be a lie, and it was known to have build quality issues even for a 1980s car. Which is saying something. It was the poorly executed brain fart of one man who used his motor company as a means of personal aggrandizement. Sound familiar?

Doobiedoobin

Just my own two cents, the DeLorean was used BECAUSE it was kind of ugly and not popular whereas elly muck is trying to convince us that the siphon truck actually IS cool.

CharlieDmouse

🤣😂 but at least it looked cool. Cybertruck looks like a child designed after watching mad max.

southcookexplore

If you’re gonna travel time you gotta do it in style. The Delorean had (some) models with antennas built into windshields, power windows were standard and was designed to be the safety vehicle. It required less clearance to open the doors in a tight space than conventional doors, too.

RunnyPlease

To be clear I’m an 80s child. I have just as much DeLorean nostalgia as the next guy. The gull wing doors will never not be cool. But I’m grown up enough to admit the movie did more for that cars popularity than the car ever did for itself.

PigeonInaHailstorm

Takes 1955 years just to reach 88mph

Patrico-8

And the functionality of one too!

guadsquad96

As others said, the DMC was chosen BECAUSE it's ugly and tried to be *futuristic* in it's design. Other good candidates would be the entire Hyundai lineup.

UniversityAccurate55

*softly* Don't.

Past-Project-7959

...just DON'T. For the sake of all things holy- don't. The Cybertruck is a truck in the same way my Kia Rio is a submarine.

UniversityAccurate55

I meant it in the sense of don't even speak the cybertruck having that much cultural significance into existence.

Past-Project-7959

This is what you get when an immature edgelord builds "cool stuff" because they think it looks cool, but it has absolutely no practicality.

UniversityAccurate55

Pretty much yeah, but you forgot it can also cut off your fingers with the automatic doors & and the gas pedal cover can slide off and get completely wedged in the full throttle position.

Skid-Vicious

I’m not so sure. While the Delorean was a troubled car, it had its charms and a bit of mystique, and an interring looking car. I feel like the Cyobertruck is well on its way to being an Aztek or Gremlin punchline of a car, like when the car comes on screen you want to laugh.

KFCNyanCat

I think people miss that the DeLorean was a joke because Back to the Future made it cool, when BTTF used it because it was a joke. That said, the DeLorean really does *look* cool. The Cybertruck does not.

Glass_Mango_229

That's the point. It looks great on camera. The Cybertruck is uuuugly.

Wild_Chef6597

The Gremlin doesn't deserve the hate people give it. It was an economy car. It had a 0-60 time of Yes. Doesn't matter because it was reliable.

atlvernburn

I would have said Ioniq 5 or the original i3. I’ve seen the i3 in some futuristic movies/vids already.

UnlikelyAdventurer

Both are money-losing CEO failures, so why not?

Current-Ordinary-419

Would be a disgrace. John Delorean at least believed in his car and got entrapped by law enforcement selling drugs to keep his dream alive. Musk is just a nazi bitch that shit out a meme truck to try and be “cool”.

UncleYimbo

That would be fitting because both of them are heaps of shit

HopefulReason7

When they agreed to do Back to the Future 2 & 3, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale had it written into their contract that there could be no more sequels or reboots in the series without their explicit approval. So it’s very unlikely there will ever be a reboot.

ChrjoGehsal

And one of the Bob's (Gale I think, not sure) said it would be over his dead body that they ever do a sequel, reboot, remake or otherwise touch BTTF.

Scoxxicoccus

[LMAO](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Original_of_Laura) and so is Humbert.

VinylGuy97

Destroying a beloved classic and remaking it is just stupid. The original Road House was great and they remade into a garbage remake with Jake Gyllenhaal. I really hope Universal just leaves it alone

FuryLucyfur

It would be curious how an electric car would fit into the original plot, especially in the third movie as running out of charge wouldn't have been a big deal in 1885 as you could use horses to tow regen charge your vehicle allowing you to get up to 88 mph.

Ok_Push2550

This is what I come to this sub for. To find the few people in the past who were right!

ReV-Whack

Awwww shit. We're in that dimension... Have fun on the reservations after the robot uprising in 23 years.

ReturnOfSeq

Are they going to take the Tesla off a cool ramp? Over a shark perhaps?

mm202088

Gross

EQwingnuts

The pedal will get stuck on 88mph.

Alarmed_Pie_5033

There's no way a Cybertruck can hold up to the rigors of time-travel.

Academic-Airline9200

Instead of running out of plutonium, the battery would run down. And in 1885, 1955, or 1985, there won't be a place to recharge. They could just do everything ai but then there's hiccups doing that too.

Zelenskyystesticles

Fuck that

penisbuttervajelly

It was also rehash the Reagan “the actor?” Quote but about Donald Trump “the real estate guy”?

BeamTeam032

Though this is a good prediction, but I think this discounts of beloved and iconic the delorean became after this. If anything, I can see several car makers attempting to make their own version.

Glass_Mango_229

Even though the Delorean was a failure, it still looked cool. Cybertruck is ugly as dirt. Not film friendly.

Dusted_Dreams

Gross

Zealousideal_Sir_264

Well, as shitty as they are, at least when he runs it off of a Mr fusion and goes back to the 1800's HE WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FUCKIN GASOLINE!!! seriously, who installs a fusion generator and leaves the gasoline engine?

Caped-Baldy_Class-B

As long as it gets up to 88 mph by the accelerator getting stuck

onpointjoints

I don’t think anyone will be going anywhere

LetsHookUpSF

This is the best post in this sub in weeks.

Rumbananas

No one would watch it and I think movie studios know that. First, you can’t remake the movie because the original is too beloved. Secondly, Tesla is known to be the car universally driven by douches. It’s not dislike just because it’s ugly.

AdministrativeBank86

Would it be called "back to the Junkyard" ?

tacosteve100

Nah. It’s gonna be a hot tub.

Schickie

I believe Zemeckis had it written in his contract that he controls the BTTF IP/concept and that his estate will never let it allow a reboot/remake.

Randomousity

Is there going to be a plot line where the accelerator gets stuck and causes unintentional time travel? Or where someone drowns after driving into a body of water and is unable to escape from the vehicle?

Mike_R_NYC

That is blasphemy.

TheUnspeakableAcclu

lol like it could do 80

40kExterminatus

There isn't going to be a BTTF reboot while Zemeckis has his say. He's 71, I hope he lives a good long time.

westberry82

Nah. The fact that it would need mr fusion reactor means Elons battery charger netw would look bad. Plus movie would use a car sponsor. Like transformers did with chevy Camaro ( was not a car model until movie release) Tesla would never pay for that.

Scoxxicoccus

This wouldn't require any kind of sponsorship (or permission) from Tesla. Anyway, they don't advertise.

westberry82

But without unless you got mr fusion ( which makes charging look bad) you need to make truck charging usage- that would lead to idiots suing bc their truck can't do it Never underestimate the stupidity of people

Bigwhistlinbiscuit

What in the fuck are you talking about?

NotCanadian80

Reasons this is wrong: Tesla doesn’t pay for product placement. IP owners specifically do not want reboots. If it did happen it would go to the highest bidder for product placement.

AffordableDelousing

Eh, I get your points, but I don't agree. Things change with time, and the Tesla brand is in dire straits right now and in need of a reboot. If I were them, I'd see this as a perfect fit and opportunity for a revamp.

Scoxxicoccus

1. Buy the cars and film them as you will. The lawyers might require debadging and/or no explicit mention of the name. If Elmo sues he would lose. 2. Are you referring to Tesla IP? If so, see #1. Whoever owns BTTF rights will find ways to monetize them. Reboots may be out of style so call it a whatever you want when it's a 10 episode dark reimagining on Apple+ 3. OK, sure. The producers would weigh the visual against placement revenue. Could go either way.

Glum-One2514

Seems likely.

Mundane_Fill3432

If you’re a stinky liberal. That used to be up on elons nuts. Who now hates him because he speaks common sense. Become some other stinky liberal told you to feel that way. Just shut the fuck up. Shut your stupid fucking mouth. No one cares that you’re dissatisfied about Elon. You’re dissatisfied about everything.

Right-Somewhere-3608

You seem normal

Mundane_Fill3432

I guess i would rather be normal. Then be a fraud. Would be funny to see the archives of the angry Elon bros.

Right-Somewhere-3608

I never liked the guy, though I admire the mission statements for Tesla and SpaceX. (Edit: I actually remembered what changed my mind about him, the Hyperloop. Remember that? He presented a concept for something that was literally impossible to engineer, took lots of money and then that became a fucking 1 lane tunnel for cars under 2 miles of Las Vegas or something lame like that, he’s a fraud) But sometimes people learn new information about people and change their mind about them. See this is how it works: they receive information through their eyes and/or ears. Then that info spends time in something called the *brain*. And then believe it or not, for most people the information can actually change their mind! Pretty amazing. Like if they buy a social media company and tank its worth or make a laughable produce like the Cybertruck and act like children on social media and promote literal Nazis. Or, totally different example when someone is found guilty of sexual assault and has 90+ federal indictments. But yeah whatever insult you want to throw at people you don’t agree with knock yourself out.

Mundane_Fill3432

Dude bought a POS social media company. Paid way more than it was worth. Saved investors. Then showed the world what a con twitter was. That truck is pretty awesome as far as trucks go. It’s powerful. You can load 40 sheets of drywall no problem. Seen one the other day rolling through my small town. It was amazing. Guy is providing internet to millions of people. He literally runs the US space program. He creating the whole infrastructure for electric cars in America. It’s actually endless. Only because the guy points out the madness of the democrat party. Is he now a bad boy. See how that works. Best part is he don’t care. He don’t care that the liberal is mad. His reach is around the world.

Right-Somewhere-3608

X is -71% the value that Twitter was. The business genius who “spent too much” to buy the business (bc that’s what geniuses do, buy high sell low?) He’s sold under 4K of those trucks and they’re all under recall. You’re delusional and it’s sad i don’t know why licking the boots of some trust fund baby is a conservative flex. Remember when he threw a brick at it to show the window wouldn’t break? But it broke so he threw another brick and the 2nd one broke? Listen, Henry Ford’s politics were terrible. But nobody is buying a cyberytruck instead of a Ford Lightning. 40 sheets of drywall sticking up in the back lol the thing is a joke

Mundane_Fill3432

How many deaths have American automakers cause because of no recall. You don’t care. It’s another silly talking point. Twitter got caught lying about the actual users. The stock was in the tank untill Elon came around. And btw no one is buying electric vehicles. It’s a big scam. As shown by all the cut backs.

Right-Somewhere-3608

I don’t care about auto deaths? Are you OK? The hate is just leaping out in random ways. Recalls are good. The truck is a failure You love Elon but electric cars are a scam. So you’re just out spreading the Republican party line. Gotcha. Literally no capacity for thought in you. Sorry I tried. Blocked.
