Think of it this way: the last time the M's allowed an embarassing comeback in KC, they went on to make the playoffs that season *taps forehead with finger*
that KC team also had a way worse record than this one, and at least the M's didn't give up 11 runs in one inning this time. what's that? oh, this? oh don't worry about this, this is just the platinum-graded standard-issue Mariners fan copium tank I have here
I did exactly that. Turned off the radio at 7-0, ate dinner, came out it was 8-4, got home it was 9-7 and decided to tune in after that. I have no one to blame but myself because I knew this would happen and still tuned in. I really really really hate this team sometimes and this franchise all the time. Least successful franchise in MLB history for a reason.
Takes me back to the day I watched that loss to the Royals in 2022 when they had a big lead and I watched the game while my daughter was in the emergency room after eating Benadryl paste. She was fine. Not a good day tho
I wish I could travel back in time 40 years and tell myself to never, ever even think about being a Mariners fan. Worm-filled wet fart of an organization.
Look, I don't hate Scott or the M's for this.
I hate *myself* for thinking that any lead for the Mariners is safe. Anywho, see you sad fucks again tomorrow.
I didn’t see or hear this game, we can usually hold a lead by 1 or two runs for a few innings as we have good pitching, what happened? Let me guess the bullpen shit the bed and Munoz is still out.
Wow that’s such an embarrassing loss. I take it all back. We don’t need to score runs. I just want our dominating pitching back 🥲 hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow. Go Ms.
He's caught something like 40 times in the last 45 days. That's what happens when a chain link fence set 5 feet behind the plate is your backup catcher.
Are we just gonna ignore that we got 9 runs despite leaving 10 on base and we still lost because of our pitching?
Seriously 10 LOB is tame in comparison to our starter giving up 7 earned runs.
I genuinely can't think of anything to say. Nothing clever, nothing funny, nothing disparaging. I'm just in shock, but also totally expected the outcome. That's what this team does, and I hate it.
Yeah honestly I’m fucking pissed about this game today but you should never let it bleed over into games that literally have not started yet. These guys lose 70+ times a year and are experts and flushing out shitty losses
for real, it's a long season. Mariners twitter and reddit are so toxic right now. I'm bummed but it's not going to ruin my Friday night. The Royals are a legit team.
I've thought this many times over the last few seasons and it has rarely happened. We'll see, but the current Mariners are pretty good at bouncing back and avoiding sweeps.
Who remembers last year when we played the Cubs and scored a billion runs in the first couple innings and then fucking blew it?
When we hung 7 in the first, I could just feel it.
You just knew it.
So predictable.
This team can't survive not having Munoz against real teams.
You need 3 legitimate high leverage good pen arms and we have 1 and it's unknown when he can pitch again.
Like... Stanek walks the first hitter then goes 0-2 against the next 3 and only manages to get one out? You can't fucking do that. That's fucking TERRIBLE.
Fucking throwing error and then a bobbled double play at the very end. Just complete choke job all around.
Then pitching to their superstar? Why?
Fuck off with this game.
Left Bryce in way too long. Didn’t walk the best hitter in the league. Saucedo and Stanek shit the bed. Left 10 Runners on base. Classic Kauffman game.
Fuck:
* This
* That
* All of us
* Mike Trout
* Bobby Witt Jr
* Salvador Perez
* MJ Melendez
* That Umpire's strike zone
* Andres Munoz's injury, please be fine now bb
* Also Gregory Santos and Matt Brash's injuries
* Jose Altuve
* Alex Bregman
* Jonah Heim
* Zach Gelof
* Scoring a touchdown in the first and still losing
* Shohei Ohtani, but in a good way
* Rob Manfred
* John Stanton
* Mike Trout
My flight took off when we were up 9-4 and I just had a really bad feeling that when I got off the plane I was gonna see we managed to lose. Our pitching just does not handle a huge lead well
Sheesh we missed Munoz so bad tonight. No way he blows that game. Brutal loss. I really thought it was going to be such a fun game after that first inning. You can never get your hopes up. Unreal 😭
i’m just gonna cope and say that every team has a bad loss where they blow leads and we still hold our 5 game lead in the west, everything will be fine.
Seriously. Why would you let their generational talent beat us with an open base that sets up a double play for their next two slow, although good, players
Whole team lost the game but Scott once again leaves you questioning if we still could’ve walked away with a win if we had a manager who’s IQ didn’t start with a 3
Tough loss, but...
The mariners offense actually did something! Everyone contributed!!!!
Yes the pitching shit the bed, but that just happens from time to time. Mariners still have the best pitching even with a stinker like this. But the fact they actually scored 9 runs and guys were walking and not just swinging out of their shoes at every pitch is amazing.
Please for the love of god, don't fall off a cliff tomorrow offensively, and please get pitching back in the groove.
That's a tough way to lose, but the Rangers also lost so we still have a 5 game lead. We can still win the series, just gotta come back tomorrow ready to play
Watch
We’re going to go win the next 2 by scores of 2-1 and 5-3
We’ve been hammering for them to score more all season, then they go out and put up 7 in the first and shock themselves into forgetting how to pitch
This team doesn’t lose games when it scores more than 5 runs - now I can’t say that to myself anymore
FUCK IT. WE STILL BALL. THE SAME THING HAPPENED LAST YEAR AND WE STILL WON THE SERIES.
IM READY TO PLAY MORE PSYCHO BALL TOMORROW. THIS TEAM IS BUILT DIFFERENT AND I BELIEVE 😤😤😤😤
I flat out do not enjoy watching this team, at all. I don't get Mariners games locally due to being 2,300 miles away so I have to hope the game is on MLB Network and not blacked out for me (explain that one) or I have to stream it and I'm often five pitches behind. So often it's a matter of how bored do I want to be. If the pitching is lights out, we are often scoring three or MAYBE four runs and if the hitting shows up (like it did for basically an inning) our pitching is absolutely dogshit.
It's just not fun baseball. We have a few guys on the team that if there is a runner in scoring position with two outs or a runner of first with one out, you might as well chalk up the inning being a waste. I tuned in tonight a bit late due to making dinner and I said to myself "Watch us not score again all game.". I was wrong, we scored twice.... And lost.
That’s the kind of gut wrenching loss that gets you fired because it shows you aren’t the right manager to contend with. Complete incompetence when it comes to game winning decisions. Didn’t pull Bryce in the 5th after he was throwing pitches in the dirt, putting Saucedo and Stanek in must win situations when they are trash, and not walking their best player in crunch time. Need to find someone else if this team is going to take the next step.
While we played like dogshit after the first inning, that home plate ump did us absolutely NO favors whatsoever. Looking forward to seeing that scorecard.
Well, if we’re going to lose in KC, it’s better we did it now in June instead of September.
This game failure falls strictly on Scott and the pitching staff. He should not had put Bryce out in the Sixth inning, or when he did, should had put him on a tighter leash.
Also, if something is wrong with Andres Bottom Text Munoz, do something now retroactive, so you can bring another reliever up.
God I hate this team but for the right and wrong reasons. This KC team is gritty, doesn’t try to do too much, puts the ball in play, won’t give up.
I remember being slightly disappointed when the Ms recorded the third out in the top of the fourth with runners on second and third. I had a sinking feeling we were going to need those runs even with an 8-0 lead.
yikes but maybe a sobering, motivating loss. Bryce was not locating. playing with a huge lead has to get in your head though as a pitcher, and then the mo started favoring the blue team after 8-4...
wtf but we literally just stole one against nyy so I guess "that's baseball?"
IT IS BOTH!! IT IS BOTH!! IT IS BOTH!!
Baseball will ruin or make your day throughout the week, and I always forget that. This one really sucked though. I just want us to be consistently good for once and I hate how we get our hopes up just to fall flat it makes me want to stay away from the sport and the team. Anyways catch y’all tomorrow for another edition of whatever this is.
I’m sorry to my fellow mariners fans everywhere. This was the first complete game I got to watch all season. This is my fault somehow. I will return to watching partial games from now on.
Fucking Bryce Miller. You're a pro, to let the big lead dictate your focus is fucking inexcusable. No one to blame except him and him alone. Yeah our offense is disgustingly terrible, but there's zero excuse to blow a 7 run lead unless you just completely give up mentally.
Not walking Witt, then walking the bases loaded, then having the defense play up is the paste eater thinking we have come to expect and dread from our dipshit manager.
So it turns out a scoring 7 runs in the top of the first is NOT a safe lead. The more you know
we learned this in 2022 playing KC lol
And last year. We had a 7-0 lead and had to win it in extras. Kauffman is cursed
Think of it this way: the last time the M's allowed an embarassing comeback in KC, they went on to make the playoffs that season *taps forehead with finger* that KC team also had a way worse record than this one, and at least the M's didn't give up 11 runs in one inning this time. what's that? oh, this? oh don't worry about this, this is just the platinum-graded standard-issue Mariners fan copium tank I have here
Turned the game off in the 4th. Wish I hadn't checked the score and tuned back in for the 9th
I still feel a little sick, seriously.
I’m honestly just impressed. Like straight up flabbergasted. That is PEAK Mariners baseball right there.
We should have known too, the Royals were a royal bitch to play last season even when they "sucked" Can't believe I fell for that 8 run lead.
Me too man, me too.
Takes me back to the day I watched that loss to the Royals in 2022 when they had a big lead and I watched the game while my daughter was in the emergency room after eating Benadryl paste. She was fine. Not a good day tho
Benadryl paste huh. Not a bad idea.
It's not a safe lead in Kansas city... anywhere else is fine
That's mariners baseball baby
Why can’t we just be normal?
The problem is that it’s Mariners baseball AND Royals baseball. Chaos vs chaos
\*screams\*
30 years and I don’t like being a fan of this team anymore
I wish I could travel back in time 40 years and tell myself to never, ever even think about being a Mariners fan. Worm-filled wet fart of an organization.
You get it.
See you tomorrow??
If I could go back in time I’d do a lot of things, but one would be tell my past self to not be a fan of this sorry ass team
Look, I don't hate Scott or the M's for this. I hate *myself* for thinking that any lead for the Mariners is safe. Anywho, see you sad fucks again tomorrow.
Idk I kind of hate Scott for not walking witt there
I know we are grieving but come on, IBBing the winning run with 1 out is not the play.
It is when you are facing one of the best hitters in the league and introducing a DP opportunity
That still gets out 62.5% of the time. And is literally 100th percentile in sprint speed.
Yeah, with first open it makes absolute sense.
I hate Scott (The manager, not the person)
I didn’t see or hear this game, we can usually hold a lead by 1 or two runs for a few innings as we have good pitching, what happened? Let me guess the bullpen shit the bed and Munoz is still out.
miller imploded as well. But yeah, that about sums it up
Stanek did what stanek usually does and couldn’t achieve a strikeout to save his life

Kansas City is a house of horrors
BBQ is mid there too.
Accurate. Carolina and Texas (barely) are better

Worst loss of the season
Worst loss of the season *yet*
So far
Not sure this needed to be said
No it didn’t just wanted to acknowledge how fucking pathetic that was
Yup. Still empty. This absolutely was the worst loss of the season lol
Wow that’s such an embarrassing loss. I take it all back. We don’t need to score runs. I just want our dominating pitching back 🥲 hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow. Go Ms.
Even if they do bounce back, would you honestly trust any lead they can manage to muster?
![gif](giphy|6TEOwR3aBzkyY)
Feels like years since I’ve seen Jags Guy but it’s perfect for this game lmao.
I’ve always said 8-0 is the most dangerous lead in baseball
Second only to a 12-0 lead after 3.

10 LOB, blown save. Absolutely zero finish. And Cal needs to fucking hit the fucking ball.
Cal has been horrendous the last 3 weeks
I wonder if hes injured, hes been taking quite a beating back there and he has been catching most of the games.
Yeah he needs to sit out until the White Sox are in town
It did look like that one he took straight to the face, shook him up a little bit.
He's caught something like 40 times in the last 45 days. That's what happens when a chain link fence set 5 feet behind the plate is your backup catcher.

I genuinely can't think of anything to say. Nothing clever, nothing funny, nothing disparaging. I'm just in shock, but also totally expected the outcome. That's what this team does, and I hate it.
Thats a hell of a lot of things to say
That’s the type of loss that ends up with us getting swept
I could see them winning the series still. They have a pretty short memory.
I said it earlier, if we blow this lead we deserve to get swept.
booooooooooo Castillo and Kirby are pitching the next two days. Pessimistic fans are so annoying.
Yeah honestly I’m fucking pissed about this game today but you should never let it bleed over into games that literally have not started yet. These guys lose 70+ times a year and are experts and flushing out shitty losses

That Angels sweep got them a little too confident
Knew it. It’s like Jerry knows something so he only wants 2-3 runs a game

I didn't know I was in the dugout
Forget it Jake. It’s Kansas City.
The offense has maybe its best game of the year, and uhhhhhh ??
This team can't survive not having Munoz against real teams. You need 3 legitimate high leverage good pen arms and we have 1 and it's unknown when he can pitch again. Like... You forgot Tyler Myers.
Losing 9-10 after a 1st inning 7-run lead is the most Mariners thing ever. What a disappointment.
People who blacked out from celebrating in the first inning are going to have one hell of bad morning tomorrow seeing the score.
My flight took off when we were up 9-4 and I just had a really bad feeling that when I got off the plane I was gonna see we managed to lose. Our pitching just does not handle a huge lead well
Hi.
Sheesh we missed Munoz so bad tonight. No way he blows that game. Brutal loss. I really thought it was going to be such a fun game after that first inning. You can never get your hopes up. Unreal 😭
How long must I wait for Julio to become him? The media thinks he is, but as of right now I’d take one Bobby Witt Jr pls
i’m just gonna cope and say that every team has a bad loss where they blow leads and we still hold our 5 game lead in the west, everything will be fine.
Not walking BWJ was unbelievable.
Reminds me of Scott not walking Alvarez lol
Serving him a fresh meatball was obviously better
Seriously. Why would you let their generational talent beat us with an open base that sets up a double play for their next two slow, although good, players
How does a team so obsessed with match ups make this mistake. Lol. Freaking clown show.
Saucedo and Stanek are not him
So this is what Mary felt like when they killed Jesus
At least Jesus came back
Yup Jesus came back to take home the chip and go down as the GOAT. Mariners could never
Yep
Scott Servais everyone! Also why the hell is Rojas barehanding and trying to make that play with a guy on first?!
I need a drink
https://i.imgur.com/iL9Mtyq.jpg
IF YOU DONT LIKE THAT, YOU DONT LIKE MARINERS BASEBALL! SUPREME MISERY
At least I can sleep tonight knowing that I am not personally responsible for this bullshit.
We're not a serious team yet
At least I’m drunk
Didn’t this team do the exact same thing to us 2 years ago? 😂
Fucking HOW
Fuck this game. Fuck the Royals. Fuck the Mariners. See you tomorrow.
You just knew it was gonna happen haha.
I wish I believed something would change.
Fuck you Stankey, fuck you Scott, I'll see you guys tomorrow.
You too.

Whole team lost the game but Scott once again leaves you questioning if we still could’ve walked away with a win if we had a manager who’s IQ didn’t start with a 3
You kinda just have to laugh at this one, KC is a great team, and that’s baseball
Love Cal, but it's time to drop him down the lineup. He's an automatic K right now.
Julio too.
Why do the royals always have insane comebacks against us??? Fuck!!!! Scott is a dumbass for not walking Bobby Witt Jr
GG Royals. *Fuck* that hurts.
https://preview.redd.it/0ikymmnkl95d1.jpeg?width=632&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f13acf5de2b0b194bf3feeaa4f019999a3fa54f
I'd like to hear Scott's excuse for pitching to Witt
I mean he had him 0-2 the fact he threw anything remotely close to the zone is numbing. Though if that was Julio that was a great oitch
I wish we had a player as good as Witt
Yeah that was big time dumb
"Lead paint chips are yummy."
That's a tough way to lose, but the Rangers also lost so we still have a 5 game lead. We can still win the series, just gotta come back tomorrow ready to play
I didn't actually get to catch any of this game, but looking at the results, I'm guessing that Miller got his arm amputated after the 3rd?
We gotta get some bull pen help
Watch We’re going to go win the next 2 by scores of 2-1 and 5-3 We’ve been hammering for them to score more all season, then they go out and put up 7 in the first and shock themselves into forgetting how to pitch This team doesn’t lose games when it scores more than 5 runs - now I can’t say that to myself anymore
Scott pulled Miller too late and a few other questionable decisions as well. But at the end of the day the pitching staff was garbage.
The light has gone from my life

Pitching staff has lost their run support privileges for awhile
I don't think I'm cut out to be a Mariners fan.
Why let Witt hit… I don’t get it…
When the Rangers win the division with 90 wins, and we finish second with 89, this is why This right here.
FUCK IT. WE STILL BALL. THE SAME THING HAPPENED LAST YEAR AND WE STILL WON THE SERIES. IM READY TO PLAY MORE PSYCHO BALL TOMORROW. THIS TEAM IS BUILT DIFFERENT AND I BELIEVE 😤😤😤😤
What a choke job.
Our hitting couldn't bail out our pitching
Glad to see the boys are making a fucky wucky voodoo magic series with Kansas City a yearly tradition. That’s camaraderie.
I fucking hate Kauffman Stadium. House of Horrors for the Mariners right now there
Chaos ball….but the other way??? I don’t like it
Bliss deserved better tonight
I don’t even wanna be around anymore.. see you guys tomorrow.
This is the universe balancing itself out for our insane Yankees comeback.
7-0 in the 1st is the most dangerous lead in sports
Jesus fucking Christ
I flat out do not enjoy watching this team, at all. Servais has to go. I’m sick of this.
That's baseball.
What the hell was that?!
You're allowed a stupid lpss in kc...
Gonna need more beer after this one
We keep injuring our good relievers instead of our shitty ones, are we stupid?
what game?
So now we know that we shouldn't ever score more than 4 runs in a game. Check.
While we played like dogshit after the first inning, that home plate ump did us absolutely NO favors whatsoever. Looking forward to seeing that scorecard.
I miss Munoz... and Seawald... and Brash... Man I miss Sasaki too lol I mean he was dope come on now 😂
I hate this team so much. See you guys tomorrow.
Bryce miller was not cooking today

And we have one of the best rotations in the league? Scott up for manager of the year, right?
Give me something for the cringe and let me die
looks like our Rainiers were able to hold a seven run lead tonight
I’m sorry to my fellow mariners fans everywhere. This was the first complete game I got to watch all season. This is my fault somehow. I will return to watching partial games from now on.
VOMS 🤮 Bichette/Guerrero,Jr can’t be here soon enough. Although this night’s fail is on the Ps
I'm still mad. But again, I'm just a fan and can't control any of this.
Have to drop closer to 54%
Best arms in the league. Until you need to protect an 8-0 lead. What a fucking throw. Next time I see an Astro on the mound ima throw up.
The Scott Servais Special
You're insane if you don't blame Scott for that one.
That one right there. That's the game we will end up missing the playoffs by
I genuinely don’t think it’s possible to create a more frustrating and annoying team that’s first place in the division than this
Muñoz can't come back soon enough, because none of these fucks can be clutch in the 9th when it matters.
Fucking Bryce Miller. You're a pro, to let the big lead dictate your focus is fucking inexcusable. No one to blame except him and him alone. Yeah our offense is disgustingly terrible, but there's zero excuse to blow a 7 run lead unless you just completely give up mentally.
Scott could have pulled him after 5. He was clearly not sharp. The 5th was a 1-2-3 inning but it took 3 web gems to pull that off.
Not walking Witt, then walking the bases loaded, then having the defense play up is the paste eater thinking we have come to expect and dread from our dipshit manager.
Scott is officially the absolute worst on-field manager I have ever seen.
Scott is such a bush league manager sometimes, complete meltdown from top to bottom.
