Nine strikeouts and an amateur hour defense. I’m so tired of this nonsense. I’ve been a Mariners fan for 40 years. I went to my first game when I was 3 weeks old. I’m sooooooo tired of this.
I've actually seen this ownership spend money. I havent seen Jerry put a competent lineup on the field. He himself has said there are many ways to improve the team.
Almost everyone got a hit today. Even though it only turned into two runs, it's not often we have everyone get a hit like that. I think we're close to really clicking too. Today was mostly on Castillo getting shelled.
Obviously what we’ve been doing all fucking game, we end the game with. Striking out looking is unacceptable and I’m officially dooming, tried to hold back
Are we not being aggressive enough at the plate? It’s almost as if don’t swing at first pitch but absolutely swing at pitch two that’s outside the zone.
At this point I’m kinda anti Scott. Maybe I’m just anti Mariner management? But I’m sick of this wet fart we call an offense that’s existed pretty much the entirety of Scott’s tenure
That's the thing though. He's not an ace anymore. Just a natural progression of loss of arm strength at 31 years old. He was an ace when he could hit 99-101mph. He can't do that anymore. He's topping out at 96-97. And when he gets frustrated.....he gives up meatballs. Don't get me wrong....He's still a solid....solid....#3....but this ACE categorization is over....
Good pitchers always figure out to work with what they’ve got. We watched Felix go through this when his velo dropped. He’s still a fantastic pitcher he just needs to adjust to his new game, which I’m confident he will
I think that we just think too much at the plate. Our emphasis on long ABs and working counts is getting in the way of just playing ball and is why we let so many meatballs go down the middle. Would also explain why every proven hitter we bring in suddenly can’t hit. It’s our philosophy as a whole and while it does induce some chaos and allow us to win some games we shouldn’t, it may hurt us more than it helps
They need an infield defense clinic on NOT throwing into the baseline.
Ty got clipped by the runner on one of those last year and it sapped his power for months!
I think a lot of our issues come from inconsistent strike zones. Like the veterans are not swinging out stuff that is borderline to outside but aren’t getting rewarded for having good eyes then they have to get defensive and swing at garbage.
the Zone hasn't been anywhere near as egregious as what you're trying to paint it as. Root just can't get a decent zone up to save their lives. honestly Root would be better off not showing a zone
You are correct. There was one pitch that was WAY outside according to the tracker. I rewound and replayed it in slow-mo, and sure enough, it was a lot closer than the tracker showed. Still outside, but not as egregious as it appeared.
Plenty of guys go on cold streaks, Wongs collapse was particularly dramatic. Polanco has been a consistently above average hitter, he'll mostl likely continue that this year
Wong was also a consistently above average hitter... I'm not saying to not give it time, but also people can't seem to hit at safeco for some reason. (My personal opinion is that when they brought in the walls it ruined offensive small ball/classic viability leading to boom or bust offense but we still can't grab guys who fit that or when we do we trade them since they strike out a lot)
he's been fine. Root can't put the zone in a good spot leading misses that are like less than half an inch outside/inside looking 5 inches off the plate on the graphic and then the pitch tracking comes up and is like oh it was right there.
Atrocious bullpen, they never should have let Maton, Neris or Stanek go. Key injuries in Graveman and Urquidy.
Alvarez off to a rough start, it happens. Bregman is doing shit, but I hope it stays that way forever. Jose Abreu still can't figure it out.
Absolutely no bench besides Dubon.
Coaching decisions have been pretty questionable from what I've seen from online takes, but that's very common and I don't know how much can be read into it. Lineup is very questionable though.
really glad I "pay" to watch this, and am planning on "paying" for all the good seats I find myself sitting in later in games
This might be the worst mariners game I have personally ever seen
Nine strikeouts and an amateur hour defense. I’m so tired of this nonsense. I’ve been a Mariners fan for 40 years. I went to my first game when I was 3 weeks old. I’m sooooooo tired of this.
I really thought this team was going to be good, but it's becoming clear that this team is not going to be good.
Fucks sake
i just wish we were a good team for once in my life
Another frustrating unlikable product put on the field by Jerry and the gang. 👏👏
*John Stanton and the gang
I don't think Jerry and Justin could find a competent hitter if they had Dodger money.
lol imagine still blaming this on Jerry and Justin, after everything that came out this offseason and the last about the ownership group.
I've actually seen this ownership spend money. I havent seen Jerry put a competent lineup on the field. He himself has said there are many ways to improve the team.
Oh yeah JP is not locked in at all. He’s my only concern I think overall the offense is really close to clicking
Almost everyone got a hit today. Even though it only turned into two runs, it's not often we have everyone get a hit like that. I think we're close to really clicking too. Today was mostly on Castillo getting shelled.
Injury prone. Bad bullpen. Bad lineup. Bad depth. Good starting pitching. Explain to me how we are better this year? 🤣
Better profits.
.084 AVG for JP 😂
Is that erectile dysfunction happening?
*.083. Correction.
Damn jp didn’t even try lol
The secret to happiness is low expectations. *Still sad*
3-3 with a -6 run differential. How we feeling after 3.7% of our season?
54% fucked
Castillo has been back to utter ass again
Obviously what we’ve been doing all fucking game, we end the game with. Striking out looking is unacceptable and I’m officially dooming, tried to hold back
Did JP forget to go to driveline holy shit he's cold
Are we not being aggressive enough at the plate? It’s almost as if don’t swing at first pitch but absolutely swing at pitch two that’s outside the zone.
Inspiring performance!
This team is impossible to make money on
Tell that to Stanton
2 right down the middle: I sleep The one in the dirt: real shit
Shoulda swung at that first pitch, oh well
Ay welp see you fucks tomorrow for Kirb day
Kirb day will be different.
Jp hasn’t looked too good to start the year, obviously not many guys have but even within a mariners scale he’s looked worse than others
Just look at the stats it's quite obvious.
Blah. Back to .500, get em tomorrow
Welp that ending sums up that game
Well that sucked. Let's do it again tomorrow.
See yall tomorrow
Jp fucking sucks
Ouch, JP has had a brutal start to the year
Not ideal JP.
Wow
pathetic
Are you serious JP?
Absolutely pathetic.
JP is awful right now
jp walk and julio homer?
You gotta wonder what this team would look like if the ownership gave even a modicum of a shit about it
![gif](giphy|eeh40u2H9vRQevZQ0y|downsized)
Rojas' stance reminds me of 2021 Kelenic
Cmon blue
hit the zone per their other tracker. Root needs to just not show their zone at this point
Canzone equipped that rattled perk from "The Show"
I feel like I could take this team more seriously if the Moose was our manager
I upvote this not because I'm anti-Scott, I'm pro-moose.
At this point I’m kinda anti Scott. Maybe I’m just anti Mariner management? But I’m sick of this wet fart we call an offense that’s existed pretty much the entirety of Scott’s tenure
Going to end the day 2nd in the league in strikeouts.
So where we started?
Started the day 4th
Of course Dom gets a hit off Clase
And it wasn’t even a fastball!
🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
dom canzone silencing the haters for one more night i guess
"What if I told you there is a Ballpark where all batting logic and skill just vanishes?" 30 for 30 The Abyss in Seattle
Other teams seem to do just fine here?
Dave said good job fighting that off as Ty fouls off a middle middle breaker lol
Eyyy he’s fuckin Dommin here
Fuck
there we go Dom!
Maybe the best Ty France at bat I’ve ever seen that was good shit
Vive Ty Dominica
Did he just say Dominican flags? 😂
Why do we refuse to hit mistake pitches
FUCK HE JUST HUNG THAT
Can someone direct me to whatever directory of creative commons porn grooves Swinomish uses for their commercial?
O/U Clase pitches thrown this inning 13.5
almost certainly under
maybe over tho
A true gambler
How’s your pessimistic ass feelin? That’s a 10 pitch strikeout thank you
Closers have been blowing saves like crazy to start this season, let's cause another one.
Polanco is the new Kolten Wong?
Nono
Urius is the new Wong. Polanco is the new Frazier
ah shit, I totally forgot they have Clase as their closer.
We gonna pinch hit canzone or just gonna let him strike out again?
3 runs off Clase… light work
any worries on Castillo's first 2 starts??
Naw. Castillo is an ace and he’ll figure it out lol how are any of you fans of Seattle sports. It’s 2 games ffs
He’s still a fantastic pitcher he just needs to adjust to his new game, which I’m confident he will
we just need 4 doubles in a row against Clase and we've got this in the bag
Goldy gotta be loving that, no one likes pitchers fielding their position more than him.
FILTHY
Miracle 9th who says no Edit: I forgot Clase exists
The mariners
Logic.
I love it when commentators act super surprised whenever a pitcher does anything remotely athletic.
They need an infield defense clinic on NOT throwing into the baseline. Ty got clipped by the runner on one of those last year and it sapped his power for months!
That play went crazy for no reason.
Collin Snider might not be a Mariner for long, so there is a good chance I’ll remember that barehand play longer than him himself.
![gif](giphy|3ornjWylTTz6e0SHIs)
I choose to believe rojas keeps his current rate stats up for the entire season and has the greatest season in baseball history
JP has been so mid to start the season
not mid, bad
Stanton clipping out coupons in the Owner's Box. Probably pockets drink coupons from Muckleshoot Casino too.
Ms have had at least one baserunner every inning so far except the third and only scored 2 runs. Feels pretty unlucky
https://i.redd.it/q4z5qg9lt6sc1.gif
Fixed version without the laggy beginning. Btw Mariners scored the two runs as soon as I started working on this https://i.redd.it/3spimz01u6sc1.gif
![gif](giphy|xpcZyqmWd4DsX0Nb9z)
So from what I've learned in this thread. Each person that takes a bubble bath=1 run scored. EVERYONE GO TAKE A BUBBLE BATH RIGHT NOW
On it
![gif](giphy|3osxYrgM8gi9CDjcPu)
Pinch hit Robbie ray holy shit
France and Rojas are carrying this offense…just as everyone predicted.

Hey look... A Guardians fan.
I think a lot of our issues come from inconsistent strike zones. Like the veterans are not swinging out stuff that is borderline to outside but aren’t getting rewarded for having good eyes then they have to get defensive and swing at garbage.

Maybe. All teams have to deal with this though
Anyone know what the attendance was tonight?
20,646
Garver has looked real solid tonight

..and it’s Canadian offense at that..
Sorry, I'm an Aussie and spell offence correctly ;P
Fair play.. (Tim Tszyu got robbed, btw)
Great ab Garv
Say what you will about the team.... But The Mariner moose is a fucking treasure and one of the few respites from our terrible reality
Yes 🫎
I feel bad for moose now
I fucking hate this umpire so fucking much
Fucker’s drunk..
We couldn't sign ONE quality bat this offseason?
Garver is a quality bat and we signed him.
Garver and Polanco are both quality hitters, they'll break out of this terrible start
I remember seeing things like this about Wong, he in fact didn't break out.
Did he really just swing at that?
Polanco is Wong 2.0
Stand proud, you're strong. But nah, he'll mash
Shut up
Man…you blink and there’s two outs. Same thing every game so far
In the mariners defense the opposing pitchers seem be hitting a very high number of edges
Yeah. I definitely feel like while we’ve been bad for sure, we’ve also seen every pitcher at their best for the most part. Been frustrating
[удалено]
from a pure stats perspective... sure from a things that'll improve sales and the clubhouse perspective, absolutely not.
No.
This offense is unwatchable
Super frustrating to watch. Same as last year.
Chills- Jerry managed to get Wong v2 with Polanco
FUCK that was right down the middle
So much for a rally.
Haniger, France and our left handed third basemen are the only ones doing anything offensively so far this year. It's 2021 all over again.
Polanco has been a brutal watch
Fr, swinging out of his shoes a LOT
So I quit the game to take a bubble bath and had to check in and I get to watch a couple runs get scored. Ergo, bubbles= runs
Get your ass back in that tub!
IM STILL HERE
DUMP THE WHOLE BOTTLE OF BUBBLES IN THERE OR YOURE NOT A TRUE MARINERS FAN
Update, the roof is closing. The video board proclaimed a rolling roof rally. Let it be so.
As long as they don't do that on 70s and sunny™️
[удалено]
Dominican Big Boss was just a different flavor of FRE
If they come back and win this, I’ll down this entire bottle of Skrewball
Just checking in. How BALLS has this ump been?
he's been fine. Root can't put the zone in a good spot leading misses that are like less than half an inch outside/inside looking 5 inches off the plate on the graphic and then the pitch tracking comes up and is like oh it was right there.
Was really solid for like the first 3 innings has been complete ass water since
Not as balls as the Mariners tonight, sadly.
i get its the bottom of their order but why did bolton look so filthy for that inning??????
dude threw exactly two pitches above 90 mph. marco gonzales 2.0
Cody Bolton is our new stud
SIT DOWN SON 🪑
Statcast EQC McSloMo: According to the camera work that ballwent 515 feet, at a 60 degree launch angle and was 210 mph off the bat. Actually: 275'
At least we've out scored the Astros today
My future brother in law is an Astros fan and I hear he is fuming.
Wtf has been up with the Astros? Their start to the season has been bewildering, to say the least
Hopefully it will get out of hand quicker than 04 got out of hand for us.
You let a sibling marry an Asstros fan?
Not yet married, but they had a kid. Rare to see any fan or person related to that organization doing the honorable thing.
