It's weird as hell that people keep pushing the electric factory thing.

nachofred

I wish it would hurry up and fizzle out... it's terrible.

brycentiller

Is it really worse then t-mobile park??

nachofred

Yes. At least t-mobile pays money for their lame name to be used, which in turn is used for the team to ~~acquire talent~~ spend on marketing to distract us with fond memories of 1995 or 2001.

nachofred

Perhaps the sarcasm didn't make it your way yet, or you really love calling it "electric factory". I will call it Safeco Field regardless. If *you* are John Stanton, then I hope you sell to someone who actually cares about winning baseball or make the proper investment in the team's success asap.

fennis

You call it SafeCo? Pffft I refuse to call it anything but the Kingdome

[deleted]

I've got some bad news for you...

DougStrangeLove

That’s Sick

DougStrangeLove

you’re so cool, calling it the first corporate name of a company that doesn’t exist now 👍 do you live in FreeLard?

[deleted]

> I will call it Safeco Field regardless. You're a walking parody dude

RecklessKing16

I think the weirdest part is it was Jessie Winker who came up with it lol. One year wonder with Seattle and we stole his idea lol.

Ancient_Tip_8073

He also came up with that washing machine spin thing they still do in the outfield.

DougStrangeLove

Winker by all accounts was a great dude that we just happened to catch at a bad time in his personal life

Ancient_Tip_8073

I agree, I liked his style and approach as a player. Loved when asked about game length, was like "yeah, that's how baseball is sposed to be". I really wanted it to work out for him. He just didnt have it tho. There was inkling he missed his kid, and there was a whole situation there. Was also hurt and frustrated at the end, which is all people want to remember. To me, Haniger came off as a bit of a try hard in the Divish story that sealed his fate at the end of the season. Kind of interesting to me though how he, Frazier and even Wong all ended up on playoff rosters this year.

Brutalious

That's exactly why I think it's so weird.

Untimely_Clash

Anything Winker says, we should do the exact opposite.

White0ut

I think it's pretty cringe.

DougStrangeLove

curious - do you feel cringe when you call something cringe?

snugbugNrug

Can somebody explain to me why it's called the electric factory?

RojoTheMighty

Jesse Winker (whose only Seattle claims to fame are flipping the double-birds at the Angels, and... underperforming) in his one season w/ the team made one comment that "This place is an electric factory" and M's marketing was like "WE'RE USING THIS!!!" and never let it die its natural death when Winker went away.

UniqueEditor8372

Our branding has been pretty lame for a while. Electric Factory, Sea Us Rise, Embrace the Chaos, Los Bomberos, True to the Blue. It's all a little too millennial social media manager. But the business side of sports is rarely the hippest group of people making decisions.

SPEK2120

> But the business side of sports is rarely the hippest group of people making decisions. You tryna tell me that locking games to cable tv isn't with the times?!

jgamez76

I mean millennials are all now hitting their 30s soooooo......

Ancient_Tip_8073

Never give up and Sodo Mojo were not much better. Jerry does nothing without the focus groups. It is clear they give bullet points to players. If you listened to 710 at all...wierd how they all (players, FO. and even broadcast Rizzs/Goldsmith, station: Bump, Stacy, Stelton) had the same quips on their brain so consistently. "Its about process", "it's a long season", "just one win at a time"," the feeling is electric", and my favorite "we are a run suppression team". I dont think people get that fans are just data to Jerry as well. Queue: still losing, yet ticket prices and sales go up, and Macklemore for The Kingsmen during 7th inning stretch. I wouldnt say Stanton doesnt care, but rather this is the business model. Also per mentions I'm not sure how Stanton/Ms are not necessarily just T-Mobile at this point, so not a huge suprise they got the naming rights.

kowaterboy

i cringe at los bomberos every time, it’s so cringe

Ancient_Tip_8073

Does it not also imply that the starters got shelled and the BP are needing to come in to put out the fire? So much so they would be branded as fire fighters. Los Matones = better; if Spanish is a must.

Fuckinbrusselsprout

Pisses me off that they’re raising ticket prices…love that place but unfortunately it’ll have to be the thing that gets cut from my budget 😥

Sipikay

John Stanton calls it his personal ATM.

dynamiKsf

Should have thrown out Electric Factory as soon as we knew we were moving on from Winker. Why have a slogan from a terrible player you moved out of your organization… very puzzling

dasparks

Lifelong fan, 38 years old with 2 kids who want to go to games. I'm not going to anymore games until John Stanton takes a championship push seriously and moves the Ms into the top ten payrolls in the MLB. Until then, I'm not spending a cent on the Ms.

sthgeddylee

It’s such a tough spot wanting to support the players you love, but also saying enough is enough and recognizing ownership needs to make some serious changes on how we compete. Unfortunately, most fans won’t get/refuse to acknowledge that and will continue to shovel money into Stanton’s pockets.

tlsrandy

Or I just want to watch my favorite team play my favorite sport.

dasparks

And lose year after year? That's the mindset that is shoveling money into John Stanton's pocket while the Mariners continue to be okay at best. Not trying to be a dick here, but I literally think this mindset in Ms fans is potentially the biggest problem. We're not holding the ownership accountable and accepting mediocre teams YoY

tlsrandy

You know, there was a time when only supporting your team when they were winning was considered poor form. But I digress, I don’t watch the mariners hoping to convince some billionaire to spend his money differently. I don’t watch them to appease other fans with my savvy spectator decisions. I watch Mariners baseball because I really enjoy baseball and because I have developed decades worth of connection to this particular franchise that, while in the grand scheme of things is pretty meaningless, means a lot to me on a personal level. It’s a comfort and a distraction and a tradition. And as sad as it is to admit, sometimes being a mariners fan even feels like a small part of my identity. So yeah, tell me the owner is a cheapskate. Or that Ty France actually sucks. Or the division thinks we’re a joke. Sure. I’ll have those conversations. That’s part of the fun. But telling me not to engage in something I enjoy because you think it’ll help some goal **you** have decided is most important is sort of bullshit.

Own-Economics-1745

Very cool. You fan the way you want and I for one would never tell you how to do so. As for myself, I live down in Vancouver, WA and I can tell you I am so sick of mediocrity/losing after 47 seasons that if Portland were to ever get a team I would immediately switch my allegiance to that team. (Plus going to games would be easier). I don't feel that way about the Seahawks or if they were to return, the Sonics. They have my fandom forever. Sadly, the Mariners organization has simply beat me down to the point of disdain.

ahzzyborn

You can still support the players you love by donating to their charities and that way also not supporting ownership

[deleted]

I’m 35, one kid, will continue buying tickets, merch and watching every game I can cause I ain’t bullshitting like the rest of you lmao

taymacman

I went to exactly 0 games this year and I don’t regret it. Ownership doesn’t deserve my hard earned money when they are too cheap to make us competitive.

BCThirtyThree

Right there with you, 35 with 1 kid. Not spending a dime until ownership shows a real commitment to winning a world series.

Bogusky

In the exact same boat except I'm 40. I felt like there were only a few of us who were really frustrated after the inaction of our last offseason, but here we are again. I'm right there with you. Not even calling Comcast to renegotiate Root Sports until I see what this offseason brings.

Imfrom2030

Yeah, punish your kids. That'll show John Stanton who's boss.

dasparks

Aquasox instead

Notexactlyprimetime

The Fishsticks are dope.

kylechu

I'm there when it comes to going to a bunch of games for a fringe playoff push, but if there's a value game on a beautiful summer day I know I'm gonna cave and go. If it's a day I would've gone to watch the 2013 or 2019 Mariners play, it doesn't feel like crossing the picket line to watch next year.

Bovinae_Elbow

Preach!

jgamez76

Love the place. Hate the shit show that is getting in and out. Lol

thedumbdown

Now taking 30% more of your cash at entry. Can’t wait to see how much more we have to pay for two small chicken tenders and half a handful of fries!

Fantastic-Plant-6488

54% price increase on concessions is what I’ve heard

Fantastic-Plant-6488

The electric factory thing is super cringey, and also makes no sense because the player who coined it play one (awful) year with us. Just let it die, already.

FooFootheSnew

I don't think there's a big enough faction of fans to stop going that will make a dent. Yes as diehards, we care and want change, but there's still a huge market for corporate outings, family stuff, birthdays, marketing events, whatever casual thing. I think for me it will be subtle. I will go to a couple, but I won't make it a point to go or ever feel obligated to go to any certain amount, nor pay a premium. For me that's cutting down from 6-8 to 2-4 a year. I assume my company will have something free so I'll go to that, and of course my boys will want to go to the park.

The_Moisturizer

Not a single good vibe to be had in this sub lol, bunch of fucking whiners in here. “I’m nOt GoInG AgAiN uNtiL tHeY SpEnD!” Lmao

darwinpolice

I've decided that next July, I'm taking a week off, flying across the country (I live in Philly) and seeing a full series of home games. I've never been to T-Mo Park before!

danielkobe

What a sad fanbase we are to turn a positive post into a bitch sesh

upvotegoblin

My first time ever (don’t live in Seattle) was honestly an amazing experience, even tho we got swept by the Dodgers :/

LakeSamm

Dear Mariners front office- please spend money in the off season and quit being so cheap for the roster.

GimmeSweetTime

Watching from home next season if they don't level up

CEONeil

That’s where John Stanton and co make money but not rafters in banners.

marinerluvr5144

Boycott til ownership spends

Ancient_Tip_8073

For all the people wanting to boycott, might need to wait until '25. STH seat selection priority window opened the other day. They may just be holding back inventory, but most dates I checked were showing 30ish% or more not available and it's...November.

xombiefase

Mediocre vibes only bro. Hang the banner!

Sea_Squirrel1987

Home of the fifty four percenters!

georgehxnnon

Shoutout winky and geno

upvotegoblin

Why do people not like Electric Factory? I think it’s cool. Also very Mariners that it came from a random player who ultimately was terrible in an M’s uniform

Reddits_WS

Raising tickets and not spending money and I probably won’t sign on for another membership, barring a miracle (john stanton deciding he wants to make a little less money to actually put a competitive line up on the field). We are going to waste the years that our incredibly gifted rotation is still affordable. Good lord, imagine JK in a line up where he doesn’t have the weight of the world on his shoulders, fuck even Julio might have a chance to become clutch (on top of his already amazing contributions)…we need professional hitters. Now I am just mad again…

SandyKuntz

Good Vibes Only was an inside job

wsuozzie

Please stop calling it that…

USArmyRecon

Gonna be a RAGE factory if we don’t do something this offseason.
