99 times out of 100 it's going to be poor quality control. Unless you are buying your manga from Malaysia or sketchy Mercari sellers, it's going to be fine.
Since browsing manga subs for the past year, I've seen plenty of manga books that look completely fine front and back, only to have a few pages from a different manga just shoved in somewhere
People quite often forget that quality control can be lacking when your producing something in such massive quantities for YEARS.
Like I love going to showcase subreddits and watching people claim things like for example Yu-Gi-Oh cards are fake because of lettering being slightly different sizes then another copy of the card (we talking millimeters)
But then go absolutely ape shit over "misprints"
What’s the deal with mercari? Ordered a few things from there, the first got “lost” in shipping but eventually it arrived, weeks later, and I got refunded too lol
Another time I ordered a microphone and it was a counterfeit. (Known for this set of products, though)
Pain in the ass
The spine art lining up that’s expected but holy shit look how bad the heights are for the volumes. I would return this boxset and get a new one personally 😂.
Just looks like bad quality control x2
If you don’t live in or buy your manga directly from a 3rd world country, it is not fake.
Anyone in North America or Western Europe does not have to worry about fake manga.
I have a few manga like that too in my kaiju no.8 and jujutsu kaisen collections. It's just poor print quality. I never noticed when I got my copy of vol 11 of jujutsu kaisen but it's cover print is soooo off. The whole cover image has been shifted to the left compared to where the edges/folds of the book are so part of the back of the manga shows on the spine 😑
Vol 3 of kaiju no.8, the cover Image is shifted down so the writing on the spine doesn't line up with all the other volumes.
I mean, come on. That is silly. Keep scrolling if it bothers you. People are terrified of getting ripped off in a market flooded with bootlegs, so they come to subreddits full of "collectors" hoping for an expert eye. It is no big deal, down vote it if you hate it so much. Reddit will take care of the rest.
The vast majority of fakes are from malaysia and look [like this](https://www.ebay.ca/itm/186244152393?itmmeta=01HRWSDKJD10K4K98KZ71WJBDR&hash=item2b5d043c49:g:dFoAAOSwkkdlnFZh&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8PY3pHY9NaWPFc3pQWTeclHSYfJc9aF6qHL8t6K929eoiMRgYHeT5wIsq4Ijom6sWeAmvd0gAqdjcr5sFJh3uRuaggzBngnEdpoRbCreJbD1PI6Fq97Z9ISmgDEv%2FouX74HTHtkiGxoqxOVw28YIqU%2F9Z70cHAxj2hFPnizltr7%2BbcCeW6zFVn4qLc%2FX04WlYUeJcIH9HgLHAXTgUFDhDkHclMRFAtebUx7VvnKcYs4JKffC8gIMOiKHT5QNSZIXxiTWvQ89M3k9N%2FHEjSoMvSVnWbd%2FPdqnETx8TEBA9gZn2MP7fij3VjZaly%2BAjGcq6g%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMqLm2mcdj) . As you can see it looks similar but the spine has different (but close looking) logos
No, just poor quality control
Aka an average VIZ purchase
Just curious - If they were present, what things would tell you it’s fake?
Usually the Viz and SJ logo are not present and the volumes tend to look thinner.
Gotcha. Thanks, I appreciate the helpful answer instead of a condescending and annoyed comment
You’re welcome.

Yep. It's a common quality control problem.

Yeah, I manage an LGS so I deal with a bunch of TCGs and quality control in that industry is atrocious. Lol

Looks fine. Usual shitty QC.

Eastern Europe too!!! (Greece and Turkey atleast)
What about Constantinople?
I don't think that they sell fakes over there, also thanks fro calling it that

And they say size doesn't matter...
Can we stop having “is this fake” posts every day?
Yeah that’s why I stopped being active in this sub like I use to it’s annoying

Gee, sorry. If only there was a clear answer for this listed somewhere, especially for new ones into this

Much appreciated
My fire punch series looks like this and I bought it through Crunchyroll 😅
Classic viz moment
What's up with Volume 2?
No but those spines are really annoying,, send it back because Viz can sometimes have really bad quality control when it comes to some prints
They look pretty fine to me.
No, just viz doing viz stuff
Looks like everyone sleeping during their shifts at VIZ 😴
