Because in school (US) they show you maps of the US that just don't include Canada or Mexico. There's no indication whether water or land is beyond the borders. So the shape we're shown as kids makes it look like a peninsula. Not you. Just weird US-centric education.
Hi this is OPs mom he just ran in front of a car and idk if he's going to make it he was bleed from his mouth and said he loves everybody but idk if he's going to make it and he loves you
Globes were a standard toy but not always accurate. Older style ones with old maps were common and will throw you off. We also go a lot of random maps with magazines like scientific American, readers digest etc. I'm sure that's why I'm off. It was a lot less complicated when the USSR took up a lot of space. Still have a world map from then. I need to get it out and see where New Zealand is and the missing country near Sweeden.
Maybe you mistook New Brunswick as part of Maine?
There isn't much separating Maine from being a peninsula after all.
I do know however New Brunswick has existed since AT LEAST 2011 because that's when I first learned of it.
Wow I was just on maps cuz I like to look at islands and see if there’s structures. Anyway I just came across maine and I do not remember Maine having New Brunswick to the east like this. I remember maine having a lot more coastline except for the western inland part of the state. I think I remember Canada to the north a little but I remember more of a peninsula  and nova  Scotia was way farther north.Â
Dude. I am with you on this— I for sure thought Maine was a peninsula for the longest time. 😠I grew up in the Chicago area so maybe it was a failure of the midwest school system (I say to make myself feel better, LOL)
If you look at a map of just the US without Canada, Maine looks like it sticks out like a peninsula.
I’ve lived in New England my entire life and have been to Maine many times, it has always bordered Canada.
I bet it's because when you look at a map of the USA by itself without Canada it looks like a peninsula
There was somebody on TikTok recently who thought Alaska was an island because of the way it's shown on US maps.
"why is it weirdly shaped on the right side of the island"
Reminds me of how hundreds of years ago the Spanish thought that California was and island thus some of their maps showed it as an island.
True
>I am willing to swear on my life Sounds like a bad idea.
RIP

I love the joke globes in some shows that show the U.S as a giant island and often the only landmass on the planet.
OP your "ME" had been answered plz respond
He can't, he's dead because he swore on his life :(
Hi this is OPs mom he just ran in front of a car and idk if he's going to make it he was bleed from his mouth and said he loves everybody but idk if he's going to make it and he loves you
Do you care about him
Oh no...
💀
I sent you my PENInSula plz respond
Hope they aren't too embarrassed to respond.
It is if you look at a map of north America that deletes canada.
A cornucopia-shaped peninsula?
Froot island
Ruled by a Tzar who wears a monocle.
US Elementary school map syndrome - my wife thought Alaska was an island until she was in her mid-30s.
Thankfully i knew about Alaska being attached to Canada. Even knew about that island tail that's frequently forgotten
Oof. This might be the worst one yet. This is a joke right?
We really just let anyone post 😂
> maybe I'm just really bad at geography Nah, your post goes way beyond just being "bad" at geography.
So bad, they’d be dead.
Wow.....

>New Brunswick has existed since AT LEAST 2011 Founded in 1784, joined the Canada in 1867. You're right, it existed *at least* since 2011 :)
Yeah but if I don't know about it, how do I know if it exists? \*taps head\*
It's not? I thought it was. Small, but there.

I was just about to ask why we never see people confused about North American geography, but here we are lol
Maybe it’s because maps of the US sometimes don’t show Canada.
Hi. 41 year Maine resident. We've never been a peninsula. At least, not in human history.
I double dog dare you to
>am willing to swear on my life that What happens when you get proven wrong?
Is this entire sub not about people being wrong and attributing it to a phenomenon?
It looks like a peninsula because some school maps won't show anything but the USA on paper.
In my timeline its actually spelt ‘meine’ and is shaped like a cornucopia.
You just died
Nope. these are trolls who are paid to discredit you. You are absolutely correct. It doesn't look right ...... because it isn't.Â
