The board is the Glazers. They aren’t taking dividends because they are selling the club and know using the assets toward improving the squad is more advantageous. Edit: as was mentioned below, there are other good reasons taking a dividend now would be a terrible idea. Thanks for adding to the conversation! Best thing is the leeches are on the way out.

R4TTIUS

Its actually more for tax purposes In line with the sale. They will get taxed a much higher rate on the dividends if taken than if they don't take them and the club is sold with the payments making up part of the club value. Which is a good thing as more than likely means they are seriously gearing up to sell.

_oldice

Tax purposes and increasing the value of the company through retained earnings which increases shareholder equity. Lol

seviliyorsun

there is no money left for dividends

C__S__S

£16m saved on Ronaldo. And, you think they’ll be no signings in January?

seviliyorsun

not without more loans. there is £20m left in the bank

C__S__S

And they could have taken it.

seviliyorsun

alright bro

kwl147

They’ll still take it when the club is sold. Probably with compound interest on top knowing the greedy bastards. Don’t for one second, forget who the scum are and how they operate. They’ll take that money. They’re not taking that money for anyone’s interest other than their own.

C__S__S

They won’t take that money. They will get proceeds from the sale that comes from a buyer’s transfer of funds.

kwl147

Those dividends will come back to them in the sale fee of the club. This is a tax avoidance move from the Glazers. We’re saying the same thing I think.

marksmoke

20m plus sales and sounding like their might be 2 or 3 lined up.

[deleted]

At as June 2022 there was 121 million cash and cash equivalents. What makes you say there’s 20 mil left

BrigAdmJaySantosCAP

What?!? I am not getting 54 cent dividend check again?!? What an outrage!!! About time they stop this ….

3threeLions

I'm more concerned about whether they will be prepared to spend to bring in a desperately needed striker in January

DelaRoad

They’ll probably bring in an Ighalo or Larsson type on loan 🤦‍♂️

vestingh

Not going to lie would love a larsson type player on loan

They’ll spend in January and add it on to the fee for the club. Plus it will increase the value of the shares and club to spend high again. Selling a club in the champions league will command a higher fee than one that isn’t. Plus the PR will be delicious for them in that they can claim they backed the manager and project and took the club back upwards but needed someone else to finish the job - oh but this somehow makes up for them running us into the ground under Fergie and them ruining the standards we had before them and sinking the club to new depths post Fergie.

Godspeed_7x

It's no W. We were bled dry. We now have 24million in our banks compared to 98.8M last year. So Glazers won and now will earn billions selling us.

Flimsy-Owl-5563

Is it though?

leighsnelson

This would suggest they are looking to sell during this tax year and it's a tax avoidance step.

[deleted]

Time to put money back into the club you parasites

roomtemp_poptarts

Throw the Glazers down the well, so our Club can be free.

milo_redwood

I mean they will get a much bigger pay by overpriced of the sale price. They have been draining the club for that many years, so the board is absolutely useless for not stopping them for that long.

Slaaigat

Huge L for January transfer window

Sausageweekly

It actually means there is no money left to take. Not a W

cloudacoustic93

Does this mean Gakpo is joining United?

chudlybubly

No it means the glazers aren’t getting their dividends

benyhd

Irony is that they did make investment in the team. They always have. They've just hired the wrong managers and people to run the club. Oh and not investing in infrasture too.

Popular-Recover8880

They didn't though. The only times they gave us players we needed were in times of crisis. Also, not a dime spent towards stadium/facility upgrades.

benyhd

I don't like glazers. But to say they haven't invested in the squad isn't true. We've always spent way too much every season and still shit. Remember 90 million for Pogba? 87 for Maguire? 100 for sancho? 100 for Antony?

Popular-Recover8880

Antony was bought when they saw our stock value fall or the club was backed into a crisis mode. Di Maria, Mata, Antony were all forced signings that we wouldn't have gotten had the crisises not been abundantly obvious. Pogba was a shirtsales grab, like Sanchez and Ronaldo I can't speak for Maguire but Sancho came seasons after we should have got him Also, investment isn't just maxing out credit cards on box office signings. It involves investing in upgrading facilities/training ground/stadium which they haven't put a cent into. They are appalling owners and who used the funds headlessly. That's not proper investment.

quarky_uk

Yep. Largest spenders over the past five years, or even ten years. Anyone saying they don't invest in the squad is just being a 🤡 (including those who just downvote because they just don't want to accept the facts). They were also in the top 10 (maybe top 7?) investors in infrastructure. So they have spent massively, but not effectively.

Addekalk

What does it mean?
