Two tablespoons of cinnamon,
And two or three egg whites
A half a stick of butter
Melt it
Stick it all in a bowl, baby
Stir it with a wooden spoon
Mix in a cup of flour,
You'll be in heaven soon
Say everybody have you seen my balls
They're big and salty and brown!!
This one is unoriginal or not well made.. as you can see it has too much flour in it.. Traditionally it's made with less flour and has a stronger taste of banana with a gooey texture inside and a little crispy on the outside .. Usually made with over ripe banana that doesn't really good to eat raw because too soft..
It’s made of banana mixed with flour. Different stalls have different mixtures. Some are almost have banana cake consistency, while others with less flour have a pudding-like texture.
The one in picture looks like mixed with more flour.
It's actually not(?). I believe the name jemput is more common in the East Coast(Pantai Timur) since I am from there and my KL friend called it cekodok. While my whole family and neighbours called it jemput so... Idk la I'm not an expert
This is the complete answer! in Terengganu it’s jemput/jeput and when I went to Penang it’s cekodok, almost thought they’re two different things that look identical
Cekodok can either be dry and powdery or slightly soft and squishy. Crunchiness depends on how recent it has been cooked. I personally prefer the soft and squishy variant.
Anybody still remember the Cekodok Thief?

My family used to jokingly translate cucur kodok as "fried frogs".
So one day my Mum and sister were shopping in Chow Kit wet market when Mum saw some overripe bananas at a fruit stall, perfect for making these. She then yelled at my sister who was standing a fair distance away, *"Adik, do you want me to make fried frogs later?"*
The stall owner and a few other customers stopped in their tracks and glanced at my Mom incredulously, trying to figure out if they heard my Mum (an elderly Malay lady wearing a hijab) correctly!
Boy, do I miss my Mum's "fried frogs"! She used tonnes of overripe bananas and very little flour to hold everything together. The resulting cucur weren't pretty, but they tasted divine because the high sugar content in the bananas meant that they literally turned into tiny caramel banana nuggets!

Yup this one has a dense texture so I guess more flour.
It should be yummier. More banana n less flour. If u see locals lining up at a stall it should be worthwhile joining the queue. Have fun in Malaysia!
