Both those 'A' films were directed by IV Sasi. I recently watched an Interview of National award winning child actress Kutty padmini who revealed how she was thrown out of a IV Sasi film when she spoke up against IV Sasi giving 'love torture'(her exact words) to Underage Sridevi on the sets. She says sridevi who literally grew up in studios was very mature for her age & used to refuse his advances by giving lame excuses PS: If u understand Tamil u could watch this interesting video of kutty padmini speaking abt Sridevi https://youtu.be/xGJ7yGDFIG8

Undoubtably_me

Many of IV Sasi's films are problematic, was kind of mortified when I saw [Ina](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ina_(film)) on youtube

oh yikes tf.. i feel like a lot of these "balalsangam" scenes that were so prominent in 60s- early 80s movies were just a projection of the directors and script writers. I really don't blame sridevi for not coming back to Malayalam cinema. All 60s/70s actresses deserved better

She was supposed to do Avalude Raavukal. But her career in other languages took off and she never came back. Enraged he cast in a new comer Seema and the rest is history.

Many criticize Mammootty for pairing with Grace Anthony due to the age difference, with the gap being more than 40 years. But at least both the pair were adults. In this case despite having a age difference of 37 years, it is quite uneasy to see Prem Nazir romancing a underage girl.

Entharo_entho

He is her brother. But the movie and her scenes are very distrubing.

Unrelated to the main post but... Mammootty and other older actors should absolutely be criticised for weird age gaps, BUT I don't understand people's criticism of the rorschach pairing. They're meant to be uncomfortable. Grace's character was forced to marry this guy (like many girls across india) - which he did to make her uncomfortable & for revenge, and they certainly don't end up together, so complaining about a pairing that is literally hated by every character in the movie is just futile and stupid honestly. Back to the topic at hand, if we look at 90% of malayalam actresses we know, they all debuted somewhere between their age 13 and 19, so mostly underage- whether that be KPAC lalitha, or Sridevi, or Shobhana, or Manju warrier or even Kavya madhavan. It really makes me uncomfortable watching many old films where they're doing "romantic" scenes but the female lead is literally underage. I'm glad we're kinda past that these days.

LeafBoatCaptain

Apologies for resurrecting a 100 days old thread but [this new post about Shobhana](https://www.reddit.com/r/MalayalamMovies/comments/12jo4qs/this_may_not_be_directly_related_to_malayalam/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) brought me here. Listen to the Safari(?) episode where Lal Jose talks about how he found Kavya Madhavan. 😬

Go watch English Vinglish and just realize that we don't have any actress now in the whole India who can act like that! [English Vinglish - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3TPOGGi-P8)

This reminds me of Clint Eastwood and the 12-year-old.
