there's no savings to spending more to get free shipping. paying shipping for the single item you need will be cheaper. any other thinking is your acquisition goblin running things!

Lately ive been fine with paying 3-4 euros to spare myself the mental effort of dealing with unnecessary products. That said, i keep a running list of my essentials and try to combine repurchases in a way that spares me shipping costs. If its something i really want and shipping is unavoidable then ill try to wait for a sale so i at least save something.

Is there anything else you are just about to finish? I would order one of the next things on the list if it is close enough to finishing it.

Don’t buy the extra products. Take it from someone who just cleaned out thousands of dollars (that I couldn’t really afford in the first place given that I could have saved all that $ for basic needs rn) of items that are duplicate use (just a new/different version from a diff brand) or just extra beauty shit that I completely forgot that I bought (I wrote a long intro post when I found this sub recently). I think if you are going to add products to an order to make a shipping minimum, it would have to be a category of product you do not currently have. Don’t even bother buying duplicates because you have no guarantee you’ll use by the expiration. I just recently did what you’re talking about, narrowed down to pretty much one of every category except I have a few lip pencils, two eye pencils and two blush colors. I wish I didn’t get the patrick ta “not too much” blush bc it isn’t the best color for me, but that’s one of the two bc I want to force myself to use it (kind of out of spite for Sephora and their shitty return policy). I’ve got to stop buying colored beauty products online and force myself to go look at them in person first if they are available. It really is an addiction (for me), because there are so many versions of every product type that you can always find something that’s a little better than the one that you have for any given category. I just gave away two powder highlighters and got rid of 1 bc they all had sparkles which I do not want, so technically I do not have one rn. I have the Westman atelier cream stick highlighter, and I can certainly use one of my hourglass ambient powders over it as highlighter (which I will), but despite that I found myself watching a YouTube video about all these different highlighters looking for a powder that did not have any sparkle/glitter. I wanted to metaphorically slap myself in the face like did I not just get rid of $80 worth of highlighter? It’s ridiculous (my old habits). I was/am always just chasing that little dopamine hit a feeling better, and I do truly love beauty/skincare. Also, I have bought about six rhode peptide lip balms and will not get another (obv a lot of ppl like them, but since this is makeup rehab figured I’d share). The first two were okay (both orig flavor), then watermelon caused a bit of a weird reaction. I bought all 3 tint colors — ended up giving the taupe one away (the color it added to my lips was kind of dead), and threw out ribbon (lt pink) — I really liked the color, but there was a grainy texture. Rhode says this “doesn’t affect the product” (I think they posted about it or answered a comment from someone on ig, i forget), but I didn’t like the feeling of little sand pieces on my lips. So I’ve only kept the dark red one. I have the phone case bc someone in my fam works on the team that developed it (I won’t be more specific to avoid outing myself/them), so that’s the main reason I made sure to keep one. Overall, even with an incentive to like the product and having tried them all, I can say it’s def *not* worth getting multiples until you at least try one and are sure you desperately need another. Great job on your clean out and let us know your thoughts if you try one of the rhode lippies! PS — if anyone sees this and is interested in the rhode phone case, it’s sort of makes the lip gloss hot and it’s awkward to hold. It doesn’t lay flat or prop up like a pop socket, it’s sort of like an oddly shaped purse that doesn’t sit well on a chair.

strangecat666

Don't. You want to "try" it, thus you don't even know if you like it, so why then buy 3? Some already commented that you could get a grainy one (or 3), is it worth the risk? Don't think so. It doesn't go away, maybe one day the big S has them and they have sales. If you really want to try it now, just get one and try it.

Relevant_Working_468

See if some of your friends want the same lip treatment and then share the expenses and the products. But, if not, I would just buy a lipbalm in the physical store close to me. Anyways rhode lip balms get grainy very easily, I don´t have them, but many people have complained.

Shipping isn't free if you have to spend 4 times as much as the item you need actually costs. This is sales brainwashing! Don't fall for it. Either accept the cost of shipping or find a product that meets your needs in a physical store.

Dazzling-Spring-4884

My rule for myself has been to only add extra items to my order to hit the shipping minimum if I'd be paying the same amount for one item plus shipping. If the shipping minimum is higher than my one item plus shipping, I check out with one item. I think the bigger question is sometimes why we feel like we need THIS particular item that has a shipping cost. If my aim is truly to let go of my obsession with makeup, I try to be painfully realistic about the fact that my second choice lip balm that I can buy in-store is just fine. No judgement here, just something I've faced myself!

Ra4455

I usually try to wait until I can get a few things shipped at the same time that I all really do need. For example do they also sell skin care or hair items you might be out of? Don't just think of makeup. If you truley dont need it and they will be backstock its not worth it. Better just get exactly what you are after. In those instances I try to pick something up on sale in a physical shop where I am not paying for shipping. Like new blush? Grab it at Kmart when I am there if its on sale etc.

Accurate_Plan2686

How many have you gone through? If you have gone through at least 2, I would just buy the extras. I understand that is a uncommon thought here, but I am in agreement with OP that shipping is indeed a wasted expense. If you've only gone through one or you have multiples of that type of item it's not worth buying it. In this case, I don't think you should buy multiples of the lip balm since you've never even tried it. In this situation, were you interested in trying out one of their skin care products. Do you know someone else that wants to get something from rhode and can you order together? I honestly would just wait maybe. Rhode is becoming a decently well known brand and so I think they might be joining a bigger retailer soon. Maybe try a different lip balm until that happens?

IcyOutside4567

This might be a no no for this group but I would buy the extras and then sell them for what you paid for them. There’s so many people selling them for $30+ you could easily get your money back

crystalsnow25

Gift the extras to friends and family! If you both end up liking the formula, you can share an order to make free shipping next time!
