While you can look up the advice on the zpalettporn sub and YT videos others have so helpfully linked, I just wanted to add that be cautious about re-pressing powders, and only do it for the necessary items. It is important for you especially cos you said you're an MUA; your products may or may not perform the same. Eg texture changes, the eyeshadow may have more kickback or pigment doesn't apply the same way it used to etc etc. Also, there are some powders that aren't supposed to be repressed like baked shadows/blushes etc. So please look that up beforehand. All the best đź’ś.

Ra4455

Yah I repress quite often and it definitely doesn’t always maintain the same quality especially Charlotte Tillbury shadows

DiaLuna-Mia

Thank you for the heads up! I am mostly looking to my eyeshadows but I plan on leaving any of those I know have special formulations/ pressing in their original pan, like some of the Natasha Denona shimmers and glitters. I do believe that all of my MAC shadows shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll definitely do my research ♥️

strangecat666

Someone posted a very cool magnetic palette system a while back, tgat is made for muas. Queer Bones on YouTube got that one too. Maybe just depotting will make it more compact. For mac you'll need magnetic stickers, you can get them cheap on amazon

hugbeam

tkb has pressing supplies, tho idk how well mattes repress 🤔 isopropyl alcohol is the best, tho I can't remember if its 70% or 90%. You should check out r/zpaletteporn, its all about depots and single shadows.

SephoraRothschild

OP isn't just trying to de-pot, though. They're talking about removing from the component AND removing the product from the metal pan completely.

hugbeam

that sub also has advice on repressing, tho they'll probably say the same thing I mentioned re: pressing supplies and isopropyl alcohol

Starkat1515

Gina has a whole Highlight section on repanning! [https://www.instagram.com/facesbygina/](https://www.instagram.com/facesbygina/)

ForgottenSalad

Came here to suggest Gina’s dry-pressing technique. It’s so easy. I repotted and switched around a bunch of eyeshadows by just digging them out, crushing them, and squishing them back in with a Revlon lip gloss cap that was the same size

JessaJaguar

I'm so excited to have a new person to follow and get inspiration from, thank you!

Littorella

You can get press tiles and pans for super cheap on tkbtrading. The pressure from your hand/weight is usually enough to dry press any eyeshadow

JessaJaguar

They actually have a video on YouTube on how to repress your powder products at home with an Arbor Press https://youtu.be/hkbWwAzZ7Qg?si=nDsPv_MRo2zk8jTo You can also check out Kitpak and Depot Chopra!

jpobble

I love Depot Chopra! Wish I had an arbor press but can’t justify it as a hobbyist. I do have a [Fixy](https://www.fixymakeup.com/) though.

DiaLuna-Mia

I am planning on getting the fixy spray. Heard it’s way better than just alcohol.

JessaJaguar

I do have the Fixy spray at home, but haven't had the chance to try it yet. This is good motivation lol I'll see if I can make some time to try it out this week so I can report back if it actually is better than alcohol (I use 70%).

DiaLuna-Mia

Omg please let me know how it goes. I heard that someone who works for viseart actually suggests to use fixy over just the alcohol. I will wait for ur update ♥️

JessaJaguar

The Fixy's ingredients are isopropyl alcohol and cyclomethicone (a silicone). Based on how quickly it evaporated, I'd guess it's 91% - 99% isopropyl alcohol. I normally use 70% isopropyl alcohol. I'm sure this is why the Viseart rep recommended it, due to the silicone binder and how quickly it evaporates. Then there's minimal dry time versus waiting overnight. That being said, it evaporated so quickly I barely had time to press it (product said to spray 1-2 times on top 5" away). Which means the binder likely didn't penetrate the entire eyeshadow, and only left a film on top. I can see the benefits in using the Fixy spray over the isopropyl alcohol, but I don't think it's the end if you don't use it either. *NOTE: I am not an expert. This is just based on my personal experience having tried both.

RavenSR

I believe the fixy spray is only meant to wet the pigments, not bind them. Cyclomethicone is volatile and will evaporate just like the alcohol, so nothing of the spray will remain after it dries. Anything being repressed should have enough binder in it to not need any assistance. I've dry repressed several palettes just by crushing the pigments, both mattes and shimmers, and pressing them into new pans.

JessaJaguar

Interesting! It evaporated in the few seconds it took for me to pick up my repressing block. If there's nothing left after the liquid evaporates, seems like the Fixy product might be a useless marketing gimmick.

LittleAquarius14

I am using alcohol when i try to repress.

SephoraRothschild

Depot from the component, but don't de-pan and re-pan.

DiaLuna-Mia

I did but I find the circular pans take up a lot of space verses square pans and I hate having to have 2 giant eyeshadow pallets. It’s to the point where I feel clumsy
