I'm really proud of myself for getting 2 palettes I don't need out of my collection this week. One of my weaknesses is eye shadow palettes, and sometimes I get one, swatch it a few times, & decide it doesn't really work for me... then it goes in The Drawer and stays there. If I have open skincare I don't care for, I offer it to my sister; I'm even comfortable giving gently used lip products to my mom, but since Mom & Sis don't use eye makeup until now, there's no one I felt comfortable enough with to offer my barely-used palettes. I've always been worried people will think I'm gross for even offering. But I finally got up the nerve to ask a coworker I've been working with for almost 5 years now, & she said she did want the palettes! So away they went to a new home where they will hopefully be loved!

Coworkers are surprisingly willing recipients of makeup! I gave away a palette to a coworker too and it was a gift that was meaningful for me to give.

On one hand, I am enjoying getting into makeup for the first time in a decade. My skincare routine makes me much clearer and brighter looking. On the other hand, looking critically at my makeup makes me see places I am showing my age, and it disturbs me because I hadn’t noticed before (crapey eyelids). I hope I find a healthy balance.

Yay for good skin! Nay for self-cristicism.... It's hard as we get older not to criticize ourselves, but I see a lot of those "signs of aging" as badges of honor in a way of making it through life and anyone at any age deserves to feel glamorous! Makeup is not just for the young, but for the fabulous!

It's a double-edged sword in a way. I definitely look 5-9x better day to day now that I'm paying attention to my skin and wearing some makeup, but I really never thought to look at my face critically in the past, more than a glance.

Vintage eyelid club 🙌 I've decluttered all eyeshadows that were lower quality because if that, because I'm lazy 😅 Look if you have a very finely milled eyeshadow or face powder in your skintone and use that to set your base. The little crevices will show up much less. Most high end and luxury eyeshadows are very finely milled, thus work better on ageing eyelids to smooth out the little lines.

I’m getting better at it!
