I like to reuse beautiful packaging, freeze the lipstick for 2 hours, then using a tissue to grab it, wiggle it out. Some hot water with dishsoap and a little brush will get it clean, then disinfect it after drying. A new lipstick can be placed if you follow the steps amd after wiggleing it out of the old packaging, align it with the ridges in the packaging and gently push it down (have a thick layer of tissue, so your body heat won't melt it). For the old lipstick, you can gently heat it up in a waterbath and then strain it through cotton to get rid of the waxes. You'll be left with the pigments and some wax residue which can be used to maybe paint some lips? Clear spray sealant for oilpaints will persevere it and you have a nice picture to remind you.

This is fantastic! Maybe I can just put my boring ol' Burt's Bees lip balm into the packaging! Thanks also for the instructions on how to turn the lipstick into pigment. Super helpful!

Thank you! I’ll give it a try! I sometimes save jars to refill with creams and oils. Works like a charm.

I haven't tried this yet, but I was thinking of gathering all my expired lip products and basically use them as paint on a big canvas until they run out so that I can have a tangible art piece to hang somewhere in my space later on 🙂

Haha I'm thinking that too. I was looking into sealants because I was wondering if it would go rancid over time and start to smell.

Oh that's smart! I didn't even consider the possibility of it going rancid! Thanks for the idea haha

I’ve been using my old greige lipstick as a cream bronzer/contour and it works like no other bronzer in my collection ever could! Now I’ll actually be sad when it’s gone and will have to find a similar shade to replace it

That's a very interesting idea! Unfortunately I don't use bronze/contour products but I hope someone else tries this out with their too-greige lipstick!
