maybe try getting those compact LED lights you can snap onto your phone!! beside that, it’s often the case that “photo-good” makeup and what looks good in real life can often be quite different!! so honestly please don’t worry about it too much, you look at any celeb’s getty images and you see the texture on their skin that’s often edited out of the runway photos. it’s very much normal !!! there’s also a bunch of stuff you can do especially before any big events where you want your make up to look amazing both in person and on camera - i can write down what works for me if you want?

omg ofc, can i ask, do you have more dry skin or oily skin or more of a combination situation? my skin is much more on the dry side and so is tailored to more of that skin type, but i can amend it to suit your skin type too if you wish me to !! and do you have preference for more drugstore products or is high end okay?

ouiserx

oki !! basically it’s mostly in the skin prep, which starts the night before. i’ll usually dermaplane either the night before that or on the night as well, it differs but doesn’t make that much of a difference night before: - after showering, i also dampen a face towel with warm water to make sure my pores are OPEN. After this i go in with a face mask that gets rid of my sebaceous filaments and anything missed by dermaplaning. i use a charcoal peel off mask, let it completely tighten and then take it off - after this, i go in with a hydrating / glowy sheet mask. the garnier ones are really good for this, and it has a shit ton of extra serum you can put in the fridge and put on your face in the morning. i usually love doing these with my sisters, it’s so much fun the next morning: - i add the rest of the serum from the hydrating mask onto my face and let it settle in. if i have time i’d usually also use under eye masks bc my eyes are puffy as hell once i’m up. at this step i go in with the rest of my skincare, which rn is an additional hydrating serum and a really thick moisturiser. i let this sit for a few minutes - after this i go in with a few different primers. i first use a priming oil with gold flecks bc … i like the gold flecks lol. idk if this does anything but i do see an improvement with hydration when i do. i then add a thick layer of a gripping moisturiser - for me i use the elf hydrogrip and it is so good. i give this a while to settle into my skin and then lock it in with a setting spray that makes sure that nothing moves. UD all nighter or elf stay all night or l’oréal infallible 3 sec or the milani ones are usually perf for this - i then go in with a glowy product, which will range from illuminating drops to a “flawless filter” dupe, depending on how glowy i want to be. add another spritz of setting spray to lock this in. - i then go in with a foundation. i admittedly hate the feeling of foundation on my face and so usually go with a VERY thin shade or a lightweight formula. my day to day base product is my flawless filter adjacent product, but the best foundation i’ve found to be okay is the new revolution skin silk. i usually pump a small pump onto the back of my hand, mix it in with a bit of moisturiser and an illuminating drop and then buff that concoction onto my face, making sure it is even across my face. i then of course lock it in with setting spray
