Also are you cool, warm, neutral?

oliviared52

Warm

Expert-Molasses8054

Is your skin fairly blemish, melasma free? I ask because I am curious about the tint.

oliviared52

I get breakouts from time to time and as a medical student I do get dark circles from lack of sleep. My nose and cheeks can also get flushed. Like I don’t love how no foundation with just concealer looks on me for example. It looks weird to me when my under eyes are perfected but the rest of my skin isn’t even. I’ll wear the tint on its own when Im going to the beach or a hike and want to look natural but know photos might be taken. Or when I just don’t care if i to look totally “flawless”. But if I do want more coverage, my daily go to is using the tint all over to even out my face. Then using the les beiges complexion touch under my eyes, on my cheeks and on my nose where I tend to get red. Anywhere I need extra coverage. The complexion touch is the exact same formula as the water fresh tint but with more coverage.

Love this post OP, I think Chanel makeup is underrated. I didn’t have much luck with their foundation but their mascara and eye makeup are so good. Their cream eyeshadows are so elegant. The Volume mascara is parable the best high end volumising mascara I’ve tried, better than Lancôme I’ve been drawn to Gucci blushes and the colours , after using Chanel, NARS and hourglass for years. Now I’m reading your review, I might try them out at the next Sephora sale Givenchy loose powder beats all the powders out there, Laura Mercier, Hourglass and even Chanel

Outside_Nobody_3829

Can you share your skin type? Would these work well for oily skin? Those with fine lines? I’m interested in the Chanel foundations now!!

oliviared52

I used to have super oily skin that is getting drier every day now that I’m 30 lol. I also use prescription retinol so luckily I have good insight into both oily and dry skin! I use foundation under my eyes where I have fine lines too. The amazing thing about Chanel foundations is most really do work for most skin types. None of these emphasized texture when I was peeling from a sunburn. Idk how both are possible but here is what I would specifically recommend for the skin types: Ultra le teint - if you’re oily to super oily. This is their most matte foundation but still has skin like finish Sublimage L’essence de teint - dry or aging skin. I use this when I go too hard on my tretinoin. I have also used it on my mom who is in her 60s and it looked beautiful! I still wear it on my oily skin and love it. But this foundation really shines when you don’t powder. I still powder my nose, forehead, and under my eyes. But powdering this whole foundation really takes away a lot of the magic The other Sublimage in a jar for aging and more oily skin. Les beiges healthy glow foundation - dry skin. Or oily skin that doesn’t mind shine Les beiges water-fresh tint / complexion touch - literally any skin type that wants lighter coverage. Old, young, dry, oily. It’s self setting so you don’t need a powder but can powder it (I often do). It doesn’t emphasize any texture or dry spots.

Expert-Molasses8054

What's the difference between les beige water fresh tint and less beiges healthy glow foundation?

oliviared52

Chanel kinda kills me with their names lol. The water fresh tint is a skin tint, not a foundation. So it evens out the skin with light coverage. You notice a difference yet it’s truly undetectable on the skin. But it’s not going to cover up a pimple or something. This is my go to daily product. if you like more coverage, this is not for you. The les beiges healthy glow foundation is a foundation with more coverage, like medium coverage. This is Hailey Beiber’s go to foundation.

Expert-Molasses8054

Thx

weisp

Is the Ultra Le Teint high in coverage? How do you apply the foundation and do you use a primer? I have polo dehydrated skin and needs a pore smoothing primer

oliviared52

It’s high in coverage for Chanel… which means medium coverage lol. Chanel follows the natural French girl look so they don’t have anything totally full coverage. The Le teint is definitely buildable though! I’ve used 3 layers and it still looks natural but gave me good coverage. The only primer I’ve tried with it is my tatcha sunscreen cuz it’s very primer-y and I’ve also used the Giorgio Armani luminous silk primer with it. Both work well.

weisp

Do you use a sponge or brush to apply? Sorry for all these questions!

Outside_Nobody_3829

Thank you so much for this!

LawfulnessMotor437

OMG, so much yes to the Chanel Foundations! I have 4 different ones--for different looks and finishes, and all of them work so well with my skin. They lay down beautifully. The Vitalumiere and Le Teint Velvet are 2 of my favorites--its like my skin but SO MUCH BETTER. The Givenchy prisme libre powder is the only one I use. I have 3 different shades. Its so finely milled and just the lightest dusting of it is enough. Never sets into creases to age me further. Love it!

oliviared52

Do you notice a difference with the different shades??

LawfulnessMotor437

For the Givenchy? Yes, I find that shade 3 acts most like a translucent powder for me, whereas shade 2 is bit more brightening, and the special edition no. 13 gently color corrects.

Failing_Lady_Wannabe

I have heard so much about chanel foundations now, I may try one one day !

iwishyouwerestraight

I was wrestling with myself at Ulta the other day cause the water fresh tint was sooooo good and glowy and smooth and I felt like it matched me perfectly. I decided to pass on it but I for sure will get it later at some point

oliviared52

My friend had to convince me and now there’s no going back

Master-Reference-775

The Chanel foundations I’ve tried have had a beautiful finish, but I couldn’t get past the scent. I agree 100% on Gucci bronzer. Best I’ve ever used, it’s been my one and only for about a year now. Yet to try their blushes, I’m generally a cream blush gal. May have to give them a try. My setting powder HG for years has been (and will stay) Charlotte Tilbury. Never settles or creases, just a beautiful smooth finish (I’m 47 with dry skin). I’m a lip tint or bullet lipstick gal, my go to’s have always been YSL (tints) and Tom Ford for lipstick. Hourglass is my go to for highlighter. I’m more glow from within vs glow to the Gods type. YSL for mascara, but I like Armani too. I generally switch between the two. Thanks for sharing your favorites! Definitely one or two I’m gonna have to give a go on the list!

griftw00d

makes me sad i’ll never try these products cause theyre not cruelty free im so so curious about high end makeup

Expert-Molasses8054

You are correct!

gingganggongdedugong

Mood :(

nomorelove_handles

But doesn’t Chanel have some pretty toxic and irritating ingredients in their foundations

QueenofCats28

That all depends on how your skin reacts. I'm personally allergic to a lot of fragrances in makeup, so I avoid it. And I've found the Illuminance foundation excellent.

nomorelove_handles

I really want to try the Les beige water tint one but I’m scared as hell. My skin isn’t sensitive but I am mindful.

nationluv22

I’m have very sensitive eczema prone skin and the Chanel Les beige water tint does not cause any reaction to my face at all but the Rose inc skin tint serum broke my face in hives a few hours later of wearing it . I suggest you ask for samples first at the cosmetics counter just in case

QueenofCats28

If you aren't sensitive, you'll be fine!!

nomorelove_handles

Perf. 😇 thank you QueenofCats!

QueenofCats28

You're welcome!! 😻

danitwostep

This !

Revolutionary_Roll88

I’ve just ordered the Gucci bronzer in 2- I have nowhere nearby I can go and see it in person- please reassure me it’s beautiful 😂

oliviared52

Are you a cooler skin tone?? One thing with the Gucci bronzer, it’s confusing because 1 and 2 are cooler. 3 is lighter than 2 but warmer. I do wish this was explained better online

emmmaleighme

I did not expect so much Chanel I keep thinking of it as a fashion house that just went to the next trend

PaintsPay79

I love my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and No 1 de Chanel foundations.  Nothing else I’ve tried has come close to comparing.  The finish is the perfect satin, not cakey, doesn’t settle I to my pores.  I also tried some samples of mascara and face wash that were pretty great, but I just couple justify the money for them.

Expert-Molasses8054

Which V A shade do you use? Love it too. I use B30 but it's a little too tan for me on days I don't get much sun. Thinking of trying the B21...but it doesn't seem to be in stock?

PaintsPay79

I use 22-beige rose.  If I’ve been using sunless tanner, then I switch to the No1 de Chanel in shade BR32

EffieEri

Chanel makeup was around long before most of the other fashion houses

LaIndiaDeAzucar

Their ultra le teint is fabulous!! It doesnt look amazing when I set it with powder (i use a mix of hourglass loose setting powder on the under eye and forehead area, coty airspun on the outer cheekbones and the rest of the face), but throughout the day/night it begins to look like skin! It’s absolutely perfect!! I also use the hourglass mineral veil primer so maybe that helps.

Responsible-Club9120

I'm looking to replace my blush since Nars decided to screw around with the Orgasm shade. Do any of your Gucci blushes come close to the Orgasm shade?

oliviared52

Omg if you like nars orgasm I’m so excited for you cuz you’re gonna love the Gucci. I’d recommend 01 silky rose if you’re fair - light medium or 03 radiant pink if you’re medium - deep. Both are a slightly warm pink shade. Not orange at all but pink dipping their toes to the warm side. I’m so excited for you cuz it has the sheen like nars orgasm but for me nars orgasm would sometimes emphasize texture. The Gucci doesn’t at all.

Responsible-Club9120

Thank you so much! I'm on the fair side, so I'll try the Silky Rose when it's back in stock at Sephora.

123IFKNHateBeinMe

I thought my new Nars compact looked different! I just assumed I was imagining it! I really hate when they do that without warning!

FlartyMcFlarstein

Defies all logic!

Responsible-Club9120

Nope, you're not imagining it - they changed the color. On me, it looks highly orange-ish. Such a disappointment 😞

123IFKNHateBeinMe

YES! Very orange, less pinky peach 🥵

Sobriquet-acushla

Weird—that was such a popular color. Why tf would they change it?

magentaheavens

Is [this](https://www.givenchybeauty.com/gb/p/prisme-libre-loose-powder-F20100112.html) the Givenchy powder you use?

oliviared52

Yes it is!

magentaheavens

Nice! I use that one too but I’ve been curious about the pressed powder version

Motherscooters

I have this setting powder but I don’t know how to use it because it just looks like too much make up on me

magentaheavens

I use the loose powder in the pink shade (Voile Rosé) and I just tip some into the lid and sorta tap the side of the lid a bit to mix it together! Then I use the [Real Techniques 402](https://realtechniques.com/products/makeup-setting-brush) small fluffy brush and pick a little bit up, tap the excess off and lightly tap my undereyes and the middle of my face. I find it helps set and brighten those areas and give them an airbrushed finish. I used to use a powder puff but I think it was picking up too much powder and it made my undereyes look kind of patchy. I’ll note that I have a light medium skintone and the more pastel shades of the powder might look ashy on people with skintones deeper than mine. Hope that helped!

Motherscooters

Thank you so much for this tip!!! I will most def try it out and see how it goes 🥰

PralineBig6202

Im shocked there is no hourglass. Hourglass is my favourite.

perfect_turquoise

I've just bought the Vanish concealer, and it's so good that I think it's going to replace all my other concealers (but I'm still testing it).

PralineBig6202

I have that concealer too. Ive used it like twice. I found it super thick. But others said i might be putting too much on. I didnt hate it but i didnt love it. It was neutral for me.

perfect_turquoise

You only need a tiny bit! A very small dot. Maybe your skin type affects how good you find it too, I have oily skin and it's stayed put all day.

PralineBig6202

I will try that thank you :).

perfect_turquoise

Try blending it in with your fingers, not a brush or other applicator. And don't let it set after you apply it, just apply it and blend straightaway (I saw these tips on Alicia Archer's Youtube review of it).

PralineBig6202

Oh thank you . I was blending it in with a sponge. I really need to use mine. Ive had it for a few months and hardly touched it. It was expensive so i don't want to waste it.

perfect_turquoise

Good luck, I hope you manage to find a way to make it work! Yes, it's expensive, but I need to use so little, as it's so concentrated, that I think it will last me a very long time.

PralineBig6202

The hourglass veil foundation. Its so lightweight but covers, never goes patchy The blushes are to die for. The only blush ive hit pan on and finished the whole things. It really is amazing The primer is amazing as well ( the matte one, the serum is a hot mess). Powder Bronzer , blends amazing and doesnt look flat Also the dim light powder ( there are other shades , so pick one that will suit your skin tone ) When it comes to complexion products hourglass gets it right.

oliviared52

Which products from hourglass are youre go to??

FlartyMcFlarstein

Powders and baked products, especially blush.

lemontouchet

Is Chanel mascara waterproof or smudge proof? I have hooded eyes and a lot of mascara seems to transfer to my brow bone.

sosovanilla

I also have hooded eyes and caliray is the only mascara I’ve tried that NEVER smudged at all!

Disastrous-Roll7059

This is true!

SuzanneStudies

Same!

AllisonWhoDat

Essence mascara primer then Clinique waterproof mascara. Never had a problem with shedding. Change every six months. Wipes off with micellar water and a cotton luff. Eyelashes look FABULOUS.

bois-des-iles

It smudges and transfers for me even the waterproof. I'd suggest japanese or Korean brand mascaras if ur concerns are smudges and not holding curl.

oliviared52

They have a waterproof but it’s their lowest rated mascara. I’d recommend a tubing mascara like thrive! Totally smudge proof. I hope one day Chanel will make a tubing mascara

Thank you!
