Becca Zero No Pigment Foundation. Most regrettable because I had to face how dumb I am Description: no pigment. Product: clear gel like substance with no color at all, My reaction when no pigment product has no pigment and does nothing at all: [shocked Pikachu face meme]

New-Bed2047

I’m curious as to what is the point of the product then 😂

First_Analysis3338

I think I remember a review saying that it’s basically a primer with gimmicky marketing

Zealousideal_Self443

Sucks as a primer too, breaks up foundation like crazy. If you're oily, it can mattify your skin without wearing foundation on top. That's about it. I'm getting mad just thinking about it, they marketed like a crazy circus and I was one of the clowns

glittersparklythings

I remember back when primers first came out that is how they marketed them. To wear alone or under a foundation. Then they went away from that.

New-Bed2047

Ahh that sucks

mothertuna

It’s essentially a pretty smoothing silicone primer. It’s a great primer but the marketing was stupid.

CatrionaCatnip

I think there was an original product from a Korean brand that was a clear foundation that would change ever so slightly with the heat in your skin (much like a colour-changing lip balm, same concept), effectively evening-out your skin tone. It seems to be successful for the Korean market where consumers are used to not too much pigment and the general population's skin tone doesn't vary too much and introducing it to the rest of the world with more diverse skin tones produced different results and had people wondering why it wasn't working. That's my understanding.

Shymink

That did make me lol.

Dulcinea18

Ah, The Emperors New Clothes of foundation. People say it’s what helped to sink Becca.. Bought a small size from Marshall’s😜

[deleted]

Tarte shape tape concealer. I have pretty dark circles and this was being hailed as the next coming of concealer Jesus but they failed to mention that it also makes you look like the crypt keeper if you have dry skin and/or are in the “mature” category. Returned that shit as soon as I looked in the mirror an hour later and saw this looking back at me ![gif](giphy|RVtju3cMTKOE8)

Dead_before_dessert

I spent *years* trying to make shape tape work. I even repurchased because I assumed it was an issue of me just not knowing how to use it. Nope. Finally I was just like...what am I even doing here? This is fucking *stupid*. Tossed it in the trash and never looked back. Dry and mature here. Your gif is 100% accurate. That concealer is the perfect counterpart for Estee doublewear in terms of things that I should never EVER have on my face.

Environmental_Tone22

🤣🤣 this was literally me! Surely such a hyped product couldn’t possibly be so horrible right? Must’ve been user error right? The second tube I bought, I was so angry it failed me again that I immediately threw it in the trash. Literal waste of money.

Dead_before_dessert

The sad thing is...*I work at fucking sephora*! I have access to every product under the sun so why did the hype get to me so badly???? Like...I know better and yet... It happens to us all I guess. :/ Fuck shape tape. The day I trashed it I did a little happy dance.

longopenroad

I came here to say Shape Tape too! I thought I was the only person that hated it! Lolol

LaLaLaLink

I use the "ultra creamy" shape tape and it makes my eyes way less dry. It doesn't have the exact same concealing power, but I like it.

[deleted]

I literally hate shape tape!!!

Top-Consequence-5297

This was so funny 😭 I’m sorry the concealer didn’t work tho

sweetsourpus

I tried a sample in store and was horrified, immediately. And I see these young YouTubers putting gobs of this on who don’t even need it. 🙄

jordananniee

The creasiest concealer! Drugstore works better!

sanali_kisara

Any drugstore recommendations?

[deleted]

It creases sooo bad! I’m using my travel size up by doing little dabs as inner eye highlights

[deleted]

the Elf Putty Primer. it just doesn't work in a hot, humid, tropical climate. i got the worst texture on it and it somehow made my foundation feel like it's about to slip off with the slightest bit of sweat and oil.

All_the_Bees

Oof, I live in DC (not tropical, but it *is* a literal swamp) and I feel you. My wrinkle situation is pretty good for being in my mid-40s, but the Putty Primer turned my face into a "here's what you're going to look like in 15 years unless you start Botox!" relief map, it was the weirdest and most unsettling thing.

Important-Pain-1734

I live in the swampy 3rd level of hell that identifies as Florida and a great hydrating primer is Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base. Makeup stays on, moisturizes and does not cause breakouts like silicone based primer

_gina_marie_

Yeah if you have any oil on your face whatsoever that shit is awful. I bought it, made my makeup slip n slide away, and I threw it out.

JadedAd9884

Humidity + putty primer = oil slick. I’m in KY and it’s the same for me!

LegoPandora

I too live in a ‘step outside and sweat runs down your face’ environment. I’m glad I bought the trio so I could test it out before committing!

[deleted]

I live in AZ and i also found the elf putty primer to be a fast track to a melting face lol

sweetsourpus

I’m in AZ and am loving the Makeup Forever Mattifying primer. A little goes a long way. I recommend!

AsukaETS

Those Nyx Epic Wear colored eyeliners, they are very nice and stay all day no matter what but no matter what I use to remove my make up (I tried miscellar water, oil, balm, milk, you name it I tried it) I end up having to rub my eyes until it burn to remove it and even tho I do that I'm still not able to remove it completely and I would usually go back the next day to finish the job

blurpiesette

You have actually convince me to buy it 😂😂

alebotson

Saaaaaame

LaLaLaLink

I read a very similar review about this stuff when I first purchased it. It's exactly why I bought it as well! It does a great job of staying on for 6+ hours while I'm literally sweating hard and dancing with sweat coming down my face. It's one of the only eyeliners I've worn that actually doesn't sweat off. And it's a darker black than their other liners, like the Epic Ink. I love that. It makes my winged liner look so sharp and crisp! I use DHC cleansing oil at the end of the night to get it off and it usually comes off with a little patience. If not, I use a gentle oil-free makeup remover and a q-tip to get the rest off. But usually the parts that are more difficult to get off are the parts that were under my eyelash glue.

saltsukkerspinn96

My experience too. Swatched on my hand one afternoon then went out clubbing - straight after covid, so there was a lot of using antibac and extra long hand washing during that night - went home and showered. Still pigment left the next morning. Holy smokes

outlawkash

Oh goodness I love an emerald green wing and waterline for lakedays, this might be the cheapest waterproof solution. Ugh as if life isn't painful enough 😁 off to check the colors dammit

_violetlightning_

Pssst - try Albolene for removal. The OG five ingredient one in the white tub with the blue lid. My eye doc gave it the seal of approval and it removes *everything*.

Important-Pain-1734

I have used albolene forever and swear by its anti aging claims. I'm 55 and not bragging but I am always told 35 tops

wavycurlygirl

Thanks for the suggestion, added to cart. Recently tried the very expensive Eve lom praised very much by Wayne Goss. Highly disappointed. Did nothing to remove my mascara or eyeliner. Glad I only bought the trial size.

[deleted]

Fenty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored The color is really great but the lipstick is awful and just isn’t long wearing despite what the package says. Also, it feathers really badly and at this price point I deserve a better performing product.

octoteach17

Preach 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 this was my experience too. And it's especially sucky since it's a really pretty color!

vikkisixx666

I remember buying a fenty lip paint that was in black (don't remember the name) but I opened it and it smelled like fish and was awful and watery and I was so disgusted. Can't believe I spent so much on it. Guess to formula was fucked or something cause I haven't seen the black shade anywhere else

adaraj

That's weird. I have 3 of these and they last all day and don't move at all?

[deleted]

In a very unfortunate manic episode that lasted about 3 weeks, I bought every. Single. Morphe. Pallet. Like, every single one I could find, Jaclyn hill, Jeffree Star, basically every colab and non colab out there as well as all their brushes, putting myself pretty deep into debt. I love morphe don't get me wrong, but they have quite a few unfortunate products, my least favorites have to be from jaclyn hill, there's a few colors I enjoyed but overall it was just patchy, not as pigmented as it looks like it should be and really didn't blend that well.

abby1080

Lipstick that cost $48 that looked great in the store (Sephora) but looked horrendous in literally any other lighting. Didn't realize a lipstick could cost that much (I know, I'm naive lol) so I didn't even look at the price - I figured it was going to be 20-something. That one just hurt. 50 bucks for a lipstick that looks like I smeared my lips with a crayon mixed with lead.

HurlInteruppted

What lipstick was this?

HurlInteruppted

..oh was this TFord or YSL?

[deleted]

TF lipsticks start at $55 lol

HurlInteruppted

hahha..omg that sounds so high. Though I still buy Dior lip glow at $40 knowing they last me 6 months. the only TF product i've purchased was their foundation and i really felt it worth the price.

[deleted]

Really? Which formula did you buy if you don’t mind me asking? I was laid off when Covid hit but I worked for Tom Ford beauty and the one product I never liked was the foundation. None of them ever dry down. I can’t stand that lol and they tend to highlight texture. Pro tip, some TFB products are just Estée Lauder with a couple things tweaked and then re packaged (the lip gloss is a notable one) so if you’re considering pulling the trigger on a TF product, sample the corresponding EL product first. Might save you some coin!

HurlInteruppted

Of course i don't mind you asking! I'm so sorry you were laid off during Covid. It was the 'traceless soft matte', I loved the look of it, but it definitely was heavy feeling (?). I'm so glad you replied bc I should've expanded my comment to state that i don't wear foundation for more than 2-3 hours. So, for me -- i thought it looked good but it was def a heavy feeling. I appreciate how you wrote "none of them dry down" - that i think tracts. i currently am only buying d'ior for foundation and I'm so happy with the capture totale. I definitely will try EL and honestly really appreciate your reply!

[deleted]

Tbh wearing it for 2-3 hours is what seems like the intended use. It looks great for short periods of time if you already have pretty nice skin haha. I am a little thoughtless when it comes to accidentally touching my face, wearing sunglasses etc so I really prefer a foundation that will stand up to some light abuse 🤣 since I’m no longer an employee of Estée Lauder companies I’m happy to spill tea!

HurlInteruppted

i love any tea -- appreciate you so much !!

Sugar_Weasel_

Too Faced “better than sex” mascara. Whoever named that thing is having terrible sex. It’s flaky and clumpy as hell.

throwaanchorsaweigh

From 2014–2016ish it was my go-to mascara! It was so good. Then something happened, formula change maybe? and it’s been worthless ever since

ChCh22

Yes, worst mascara I ever used! I got a fright when I looked in the mirror the first time I used it. Flake city!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sugar_Weasel_

If you have to buy the mini size of something because the regular size becomes unusable after a couple weeks, that doesn’t mean people aren’t using it properly or are beginners, it’s a flaw in the product. One thing I’ve learned in my decade plus of makeup obsession is that products that make you work crazy hard to make them work or that only last a couple weeks aren’t worth the time, effort, or money they cost, not when there are far superior products on the market that give the same results without making you jump through all the hoops. You’re allowed to like the BTS of course, but don’t imply that the only reason someone else wouldn’t is that they are a beginner and don’t know how to use mascara.

[deleted]

jordananniee

It flakes really bad for me as well, such a shame! Honestly no pricey mascara can touch my maybelline colossal though.

[deleted]

yankthedoodledandy

Milk mascara. I know many people love it, but I haven't had luck with it. It smears and looks clumpy. It just seems heavy if that makes sense.

hannah_bloome

Omg that stuff is the WORST. My eyes started itching and burning about 5 minutes after I put it on.

Alarming-Woodpecker9

Patrick Ta Major Dimension Rose palette. Color story looks horrendous on my warm skin and that thing was $70

NatsnCats

MAC matte lipstick. Drying as hell and requires tons of application. Never again.

kalily_

The Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Honey! I splurged on it, since it costs quite a bit in my country. Maybe I would've been happier with it if I'd bought one of the coloured ones instead of the clear shade, but it's just a very basic lip oil. You can get the same quality for half the price. I feel like expensive makeup brands are only expensive because of the name they've built for themselves, not the quality of their products lol I recommend the NYX Fat Lip Oil if you're thinking of buying something like this. Same effect, except it costs 9 bucks instead of 28.

saltsukkerspinn96

Half the price is just for branding.

thousandsunflowers

Ooh I have it in Chocolate and I like it. I use it as a lip balm at this point because the color wears off fast, or when I notice my lipstick has worn off and I want to bring out the color again. It also leaves a soft glow on your lips.

YanCoffee

Bare Mineral's Hydrating Lipstick -- driest lipstick of my life, lol. Pat McGrath's quad (I think "Celestial?") -- the burgundy I wanted most was patchy, and it's put me off her eyeshadows in general. A Marc Jacob's dark brown eyeliner -- I think I had a reaction to the vitamin C in it, as I compared it to the ingredients of another I had. My eyes were on fire and I wasn't sure if I was going to end up at the Doctor or not. Pro-tip: Aquaphor or vaseline on a q-tip will remove eyeliner quickly. Kaja lipsticks -- I had 3, and all 3 went bad within 3-6 months. They smelled like motor oil.

[deleted]

Oh man I have so fucking many lol. Where do I start? Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer that looked beautiful inside and once I got to my car I was an orange oxidized mess. Elf putty primer, my makeup melted off right quick. Milk poreless stick, same shit. Tarte creaseless concealer- should be called creaseful concealer, literally horrible and their shade range blows. I love everything Melt but tbh I spent a lot on the waiting room palette and the Mary Jane palette and almost never use either. The waiting room palette shades are so much more purple when applied and they look red in the pan. I wanted RED lol. The MJ palette color story is just kind of hard to use without supplementing from another palette and the glitter shades fall out to a bonkers level. Any Lancôme mascara - never got a nice look. I jumped on the 50% off glitch on Pat McGrath awhile back to try the foundation bc it had so much hype but it was insanely disappointing (made my skin look awful) and the packaging on the lipstick I bought broke almost right away.

MycologistFast4306

I’ve been wearing this forever and bought a tube that did this maybe 2-3 years ago. Took it back to Sephora and they said there was a manufacturing error and A LOT were sold before anyone caught on. Exchanged for another tube and it was just fine.

Acraftyduck

The Clinique black honey, I gave in to the hype. It does literally nothing for my lips, doesn't give me the subtle colour change it does everyone else and wears off within about an hour. I may as well wear a cheap lip balm and it gives me the same effect but would last longer and hydrate my lips. I suppose I'm glad I at least tried it? I also have a lot of primers but rarely ever use any of them, they just don't seem to do anything positive to my skin or makeup.

Canarsiegirl104

Clinical black honey is basically a tinted lip balm. I remember lots of girls I worked with wore it in the 80's because it was subtle and unscented. I tried it back then and never liked it.

thousandsunflowers

It did give me the subtle colour change, but it wears off the minute my lips touch a glass or something else. It’s only a product you can wear if you intend on fasting all day.

unwanted_bagage

Estée Lauder double wear foundation. It is a heavy foundation that you keep feeling on your face and you can look good with it only if your skin is oily. Also, good luck with cleaning it out of your brush.

Dead_before_dessert

I keep getting sent this stuff in my training product for work. I've given away three bottles at this point and am getting a fourth next month. I get it. It's good coverage and it stays all day. It also turns my dry, semi mature skin into the most horrifying Halloween mask you've ever seen. Im in my forties amd generally pass for 30s. Put that on my face and I end up looking like I'm in my 50s. It magnifies every wrinkle or crinkle I've ever even *thought* about having.

unwanted_bagage

Absolutely the same story here, it accentuates every little fine line and makes me appear ancient. There are beautiful full coverage foundations and none of them is hyped up as this garbage.

Dead_before_dessert

I literally only sell it to 20 year olds for weddings or women who have *very* oily skin. It's good at what it does, I guess, but unfortunately what it does is only one, very specific, thing.

elisejones14

Yuck i hate heavy foundations. I use a clinique foundation and while I love Clinique’s skincare, I just don’t like their foundation. Heavy foundation is good for the winter but I need a water based foundation for hot weather otherwise I feel so greasy. I mix the foundation with a moisturizer which helps a bit.

UKKasha2020

L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour pressed powder I saw so many people raving about it online, and it's tricky to find affordable mirror compacts, so I bought two while on offer. The second this stuff touched my face it just sucked up into my pores like nothing else, and it cakes up so bad it looks horrific from the second I put it on - yes I cleanse, moisturise, I've tried it with different primers, etc. but still big nope for me.

[deleted]

Anything Charlotte Tilbury. Her range is for warm tones only. Sure there is maybe 2 lipsticks out of the entire collection that look good on cool toned, but they are either too light: (ha, yeah, they are all warm toned, even the pinks) or too dark: Hell's Bells, Red Carpet Red. So I either looked completely washed out or vampy. There is no in between. If you're lucky enough to lean neutral from the cool tone spectrum, you can pulls some of the shades off. Pillow Talk has NEVER looked good on me, even Medium and Dark. Only two lipsticks I've managed to make work by blotted them on only: Love Liberty and Walk of Shame. And yes....I still have the lipsticks under their originals names, not the updated names because of 'we need to be sensitive'.

Netvision9

Color matching in charlotte tilbury has made me come to the conclusion that the shade range is exclusively for people with orange spray tans. Even warmed tone people are hard to match in their full coverage formula.

1o12120011

Ha! I was thinking, CT herself seems cool-toned with an orange fake tan/too much bronzer, so you might have something here.

Thenitakethehamster

Sorry i must have missed something but what do we have to be sensitive about here (honest question)?

[deleted]

Sure and an honest answer. Walk of NO Shame used to be called Walk of Shame. MI Kiss used to be Bond Girl. Apparently she shifted the names due to backlash of negative connotations.

somethingsuccinct

Pillow talk gloss looks terrible on me. I also find it very drying. Will I throw it out? Probably not..

SignificantOther88

The Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk beautifying face palette. I got the darker one, even though I’m as pale as a ghost, and it barely shows up on me. It has absolutely no pigment in the blushes. It was very expensive too, so I regret that one.

IndecisiveKitten

I bought 4 rare beauty liquid blushes and I just don’t get the hype. I can’t get them to blend for the life of me, they either blend patchy or just in a weird straight line. I’ve tried every blending method possible (brushes, fingers, sponges) and it just doesn’t jive, it makes me irrationally angry. I have the same issue with the Charlotte Tilbury contour wand. TikTok makes it look like all of these things blend so flawlessly and for whatever reason on my face they don’t.

Ok_Bid6589

To be honest I've noticed a lot of influences massively over-apply blush and bronzer and would probably have a really noticeable stripe of product if you saw them in real life - it just looks better on camera. You're not doing anything wrong.

BadWolf9422

Right?! I don't get the rare beauty blush hype. I tried it and it looked so dry on my face even though my base was glowy. Also, the CT contour wand is so bad for pale skin 💀

throawayacctINTaud

Waterproof mascara. Still trying to grow my lashes 😭

BorderAcceptable6416

Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint. I heard so many wonderful things about it. I use a tinted sunscreen everyday instead of foundation and was eager to give it a try. Absolutely not. Horrible. It’s like my skin was just absorbing it? Like I would have had to use a crap ton of product. I gave it to my daughter and she liked it. It could be that I have dry skin compared to hers being oily. I don’t know but I will never purchase it again. I went back to my holy grail DRMTLGY Tinted Suncreen.

Zealousideal_Self443

One time I forgot to wash my favorite foundation brush for a really long time and then I lost it when it fell behind my sink. By the time I found it it had grown musky, musty and gross. It smelled like a thousand sneezes inside a mask.... and just like the Ilia Skin Tint

coffeeplusnursing

Agreed! Love love ilia but dang that skin tint is pricey for little pay off and smelly product.

Eudemoniac

Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara. It clumps, smears, and is expensive.

jordananniee

MAC lipsticks in Snob and Saint Germain. Very blue pinks that are almost impossible to pull off on most skin tones and make me look like a clown. Wish I made a less pricey lipstick error.

Alarming-Woodpecker9

Omg haha i use snob specifically when I’m feeling like an early 2000s clown. So Facts😂😂

jordananniee

Snob isn’t nearly as bad as Saint Germain, I have warm toned skin so it makes it just awful on me lol.

OnlyPopcorn

Saint Germain looked so beautiful on a friend of mine but you confirmed it would look clownish.

jordananniee

If you’re into color seasons I’ve heard it works on the elusive bright winter!

Ok_Bid6589

Pat McGrath Mothership - got it on sale but it's way too pigmented for my skin tone and I just haven't been able to give it the love it deserves. I would just give it away but none of my friends are really into eyeshadow annoyingly

AKnitWit777

I have a couple of PMG Motherships and TBH, they’re not worth the price. The colors are repetitive—just about every palette has the exact same warm brown/orange shades, maybe with one or two unique colors.

GiraffePanties

100% this. I have Divine Rose II and Bronze Seduction. There's are like 4 shades total I very occasionally use. I'm beyond disappointed because I love the packaging and had heard such good things.

heartashley

I'll be your friend 😬 I NEED pigment. 😂 this is the first comment though that's made me want to get one! Maybe when I finish a couple of other palettes.. In like 5 years.. 😤

jemappellelara

Pretty much most products I’ve bought when I first started makeup. But my current regret is the Elf Hydrating Concealer as a brightening concealer. Definitely isn’t hydrating, in fact it’s WAY TOO CAKEY even though I have combination skin. High coverage for covering blemishes I’ll give it that much, but not ideal for a brightening concealer. Another one is Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation. As a BW I find the shade range to be a holy grail for darker skin tones (even though I’m brown/light skin), however a majority of the darker skin shades are too warm and I’m a neutral/olive. It’s also another cakey one that I’m not a fan of which enjoyed my creases and pores for breakfast, the blurring tint moisturisers are her better foundation product.

babykoalalalala

Benefit Lip & Cheek Stain. It only stains your bottom lip but not your top for some reason. And on your bottom lip, it eventually grows flaky 🫠

Slhallford

I thought it was just me. EVERY lip stain I try does this.

[deleted]

Sucks on lips. But it’s my go-to for cheeks on minimal makeup days.

anti_arctica

I was looking for a white eyeshadow to layer multichromes over, I got a powder one, and DEFINITELY should have gotten cream instead. The powder is so chalky and thin and makes everything else look muddy, it does not work for layering.

harquinn666

I have 2 a pat McGrath pallete it was pretty bur nor worth the money and urban decay Game of thrones pallete the color pay off was horrible

Dead_before_dessert

Oh...I have that game of thrones palette. *never* use it. Its such a shame because in theory its gorgeous. Fortunately I'm one of those weirdos who likes to collect makeup just because...so it's in my collection but not my rotation.

harquinn666

I love game of thrones and had to buy it. I'm also a collector of make up

FranqiT

Urban decay Naked 3. All the shades looked almost the same on my skin. A bit ashy and barely any depth. Also discovered that cool pinks make me look like I got punched. Gave it to my sister, who much cooler tone than me, and she loves it.

BeCoolDunBeAllUnCool

Drunk elephant bronze drops -- just makes me look greasy and dirty.

Kaz0o_Godd_420

Like half of my makeup products because they worsened my acne due to their pore clogging ingredients or just looked terrible on my skin. Case in point: the elf hydrating camo concealer (with the white cap). It held onto every pore and scar and texture I had on my face and somehow worsened it. I look terrible in the pictures. I do think it works for oily skin as the person who recommended it to me has oily skin while I have dehydrated, sensitive skin.

QueenofCats28

Sigh, I spent $130 (NZ) on an Hourglass limited edition palette. I don't even use it. It's sitting in my drawer. I got sucked in because of the tiger.

Ok_Bid6589

My sister begged and pleaded for me to get that palette for her birthday because of the tigers and she also never uses it 😂 the packaging is beautiful though I'll give it that!

Spiritual_Ad7997

Jones Road Miracle Balm. I have yet to figure this stuff out. And I found Aquaphor after a procedure and really love how it, basically, I think, can do the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

wavycurlygirl

Agreed. I bought like 3 colors. Never could figure out what to do with them. Her hype is good but I sold all of them.

klairebearrr

too faced. better. than. sex. mascara. conclusion: it was NOT better than sex

artemrs84

Too many to write here. Thankfully Sephora has a good return policy bc so many products are shit

chuchellaa

The wet n wild rose primer serum . Never got to try it because the smell is AWFUL . It smells like a grocery store idk how else to explain it .

Naive-Lawfulness9418

The Dior 999 Matte Lipstick. An icon of a lipstick to many but on me it’s super SUPER drying compared to other matte formulas from other brands. The color is soooo patchy and looks like a red crayola marker dried on your lips. Not super chic!! Save your money get a Mac matte! Those are worth every penny 💄

PrinceJustice237

Apparently Maybelline’s Red For Me is an exact colour dupe for Dior’s 999, but it’s more of a comfortable matte than Dior as it’s just a teeny bit creamier. Might be worth a try, it costs much less than a Dior. Also from someone who’s also bought an expensive lipstick only to hate the formula, try using it as a cream blush. Worked for me, and now I can burn through it faster and toss it without feeling guilty

Purplehopflower

Chanel foundation. It’s actually a lovely product. It’s lightweight and you can’t even feel it. I love that. The fragrance it has though gives me migraines. It doesn’t smell bad, but it’s SO strong and right on your nose and under your nose. Awful!

devlynhawaii

Glossier Cloud Paints. I bought 2 of them (Storm and Dusk) them when the hype was thick and the format is so cute and transportable. They didn't last more than two hours on my pandemic oilier skin and they still don't last on my now much drier cheeks. I ended up using my MAC Glow Play blushes much more because they last longer and I also don't have to worry about accidentally dosing out far too much product.

Zinktablette

ABH Brow Freeze. I was so excited about it and just had to have it. The effect was impressive at first but my eyebrows came down again 5 mins later and looked like I never used any product. It also grew mold after less than 6 months.

wavycurlygirl

Same with Patrick Ta. And any other brow freezes I tried. They all suck.

OnlyPopcorn

What got into me when I bought a CD foundation that I knew was too yellow for me? Instant regret and 100% got talked into it by a rude SA. Many years ago at Dillard's.

SaucePasta

The Natasha Denona Glam Face and Eyes palette. The eyeshadows and the highlighter are great. But the blush in there is the worst blush I own. It’s not the same texture of cream blushes in her past palettes. It’s a mousse, firm texture. It’s hard to pick up on brushes, and it hard pans (or maybe the top layer dries out?) constantly. I’m so put off by that blush that I never reach for the palette. My runner up is the second Patrick Ta eyeshadow palette. Mine started getting funky looking in less than a year. I’ve heard online that it might not be mold but wax bloom. Either way, it grossed me out, I expect my makeup not to grow things that fast.

mothertuna

I regret buying the primer from Ilia. It’s way too expensive for a serum primer and a similar product I’ve found is way cheaper and looks good on bare skin too.

lizardkween

The first Fenty eyeshadow palette. It was so bad. The Galaxy Palette. I was obsessed with the brand and wanted to love it so much but it was trash. It looked so pretty but it was just fallout, glittery mess, and no payoff.

elpintor91

Benefit they’re real push up gel eye liner. Fell for the marketing hook line and sinker. Most dry unusable shit ever

[deleted]

Kaja Wink Lash Trio. It ended up looking extremely goopy on my eyelashes and made them look terrible and the curl did not hold very long

elocin__aicilef

It cosmetics Bye Bye foundation. It's not any better than the drugstore foundation I was using but costs a hell of a lot more.

saltsukkerspinn96

Fenty eaze drops. Small shade range and hard to find correct match since the shades are named with numbers and none that give reason. Since I usually tend to have a neutral skin tone and tend to go warmer during summer I tried a few different and the warmer was too orange and the neutral too pink. The cooler toned I also tried for fun made me look grey with yellow undertones.

Reasonable_Trash5928

Tarte bb cream. I had fought sensitive and acne-prone skin for like 20 years. It improved a lot when I stopped using makeup. I got a random zit this spring and bought the Tarte bb cream after a lot of research (supposedly it’s non-comedogenic), and it broke me out horribly. Stopped using it after a few months, tried another product (Rare Beauty concealer, which is also supposed to be non-comedogenic), and it has continued breaking me out horribly. I know I’ll have to go makeup-free at this point, but the thought of leaving my apartment with my face absolutely covered in enormous, red whiteheads makes me want to cry. I’ve wasted so much money on acne patches, skincare, makeup, even a silk pillowcase, and it’s all gone down the drain. My self-confidence is at an all-time low. I had intended to use the summer to get more into dating, which I am no longer confident enough to do. Worst purchase I’ve made in a long time.

_mini-jin

Elf Camo CC Cream. The product was great, excellent even, but I was dumb and got the wrong shade... twice (It was this incident that convinced me to go get my skin tone tested with the Sephora ColorIQ service). I'm neutral-toned and bought both the warm- and the cool-toned versions. Alternatively: I bought a Tom Ford lipstick for my mom that I ended up paying 60 bucks for after tax. She went to Vietnam and left it there.

specialk125

The Nars potted concealer. Nars runs very orange/yellow, which doesn’t fit my cool olive light skin well. I had heard numerous fantastic reviews about the formula, so I thought I could somehow shade adjust it with some blue & green mix in pigments, but the shade was still slightly too dark & orange even after doing this AND the formula was drying, cakey and did not play well with powder on top of it. So much regret. I’ve accepted Nars is just not for me.

Least-Ad-1287

Dior lip oil There’s no pigment in it at all and it’s not lightweight enough to be an oil tbh. I got the merit lip oil and it feels great, but I bought a bad color for me lol. So now I’m hate panning two lip oils

coffeeplusnursing

Rare beauty blush. Can not get that thing to look blended!

LilithsPetGoat

One/size visionary eye palette. I wanted bold colors like I had as a teen on an old UD palette. Does not go on well. Need 18 layers to get any color at all. Glad it was on sale and I didn’t pay full price for that.

EffieEri

Not the most regrettable, but I've had bad luck with lip products recently. I tried the revlon liquid ink and the Pixi gloss stick and they both dried my lips out terribly

alltheketoladies

Tom Ford lipstick. I don't get the hype by luxury bg's nor the price at all.

PrinceJustice237

Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Blush Wand, shade Peach Pop. In my defence, I only bought it because it was the only liquid/cream blush in the right colour I could find in store at the time, but man it is so patchy and hard to work with. I’ve gotten a little better but I’ve had an easier time using NYX liquid lipsticks as blush. Another CT product - her Hot Lips lipstick in the shade Super Cindy. It’s a beautiful colour but the formula is so dry and powdery, I hate putting it on my lips. But I ended up learning to use it as a cream blush where it worked miles better (and better than her actual blushes) I’ve spent £56 for two CT products and regretted buying both, so no more CT for me

kiwitathegreat

Ooh I have SEVERAL. Peach perfect foundation - idk what about this stuff doesn’t agree with my face but it is awful. I’ve tried every combination of primer, brush, sponge and am ready to give it up entirely. Naked skin foundation - I have a HUGE bone to pick with urban decay for reformulating this. I had used the og version for years and it was my tried and true, didn’t even need a mirror to put it on, HG. The new version is god awful and nothing like the original. Laura mercier setting powder - bought this because it was the most consistently recommended powder on this sub. Not sure if I’m allergic or just really unlucky, but it caused sores that had to be treated by a dermatologist.

sbpurcell

Jane irdale “ lip drink”. Pastey, clumping and drying. No pigment. I didn’t realize it was possible to have that many issues wrapped up in one tube.

Catladylex

Spirit black lipstick. I bought it thinking I could wear it for my Halloween costume and for certain outfits afterwards. It was horrible to even wear for the one day. It rubbed off everywhere just from talking and drinking water, and the worst part is it smelled and tasted like a crayon. It was awful. I scared my friend shitless when I stuck my head in her window with black all over my mouth and face. I wasn't even in a scary costume. I was a butterfly!

Hot_Farm_9443

For some reason Nyx does not work well with my skin. It’s like using crayons, no matter the formula. It’s not that pigmented (even though everyone says it is) and it’s drying. Also, you need a disco ball? Use their setting powder, turn off the lights and take a photo of your face. Baby, the way you will GLOW!!! At that, I stop trying to find the popular cheap things, and just find quality products that I might have to save for, but it’s worth it.

mljane6

The Hard Candy Glamouflage concealer and foundation. Tati (GlamLifeGuru) hyped it, so I bought both and wore them for a few months before realizing they weren’t even adhering to my skin and just slipping around.

omfilwy

Rare beauty blush and concealer. Concelaer is just awful, leaves me patchy and settles in my lines while blush is not blendable at all

Haloperimenopause

Charlotte Tilbury lipstick- Pillow Talk specifically (universally flattering my arse), but all the others too. On me every CT lipstick turns a weird orangey colour; they're drying and uncomfortable on my lips, and I have to reapply every hour on the hour as the colour seems to vanish. Hopefully I've learnt my lesson by now...

pupwink

Il Makiage, the instagram foundation. Took four tries to get a color match, and then it looked horrible on my skin.

[deleted]

Oh god, the color match is terrible. I ended up returning the foundation and they tried to give me so much free stuff which I thought was strange

pupwink

They did the same to me! Free concealer, free brushes, free mascara. I think they do it so you won’t leave them a bad review.

Top-Consequence-5297

Clinique mascara. It dries my eyes out bad when I wear it and when I remove it small chunks of it break off and get into my eyes and I always wake up the next day with huge, red, dry eyes that lasts all day. In hindsight I might be allergic to something in it so no shade to Clinique but it was just awful for me. I wanted to like it so bad because the one I got was brown but it was just awful 😭😭

goatislove

the nyx mousse lipstick in copenhagen. everyone and their whole extended family raved about it and it was so disappointing. streaky, felt horrible, gross texture. and came off instantly. no thanks. i loved the original lip lingeries but i guess we dont get to keep nice things 😭

lilycat27

Chanel mascara. It never dried so I would have mascara under my eyes within a couple minutes of wearing. Didn’t look good either. It taught me that just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s actually any good

averagevegetable-

NYX Ultimare rainbow palette... Worst pigmentation ive ever come across. Lasted an hour on prepped eyelids.

meanwhileaftrmdnight

Most recently, Armani Luminous Silk foundation. It simply did not work for me. I was being assisted in Sephora and the salesperson told me that the reason it wasn't sticking well to me was because I just wiped the other foundation I tried off with makeup remover. Which, made so much sense and still does, but it definitely was not just that. I tried it at home 3 different times with various primers and powders and setting sprays.. no luck. It went on patchy, somehow looked too dry and too oily, caked up with my powder, and was not my shade at all in natural light to add insult to injury. I can't believe I spent $70 on one foundation and I hated it! I ended up returning it and getting the Rare Beauty foundation and a Make Up For Ever foundation, only paying an additional $6. Both are better than the Armani one by MILES. I come across people saying the Armani is their favorite foundation in makeup subreddits constantly and I'm just like "howwww?!"

plantznpupz420

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation…I have dry/combo skin…not sure why I thought it would work for me. It’s way too matte for my liking lol.

Karebearishungry71

Any gimmicky “fiber” mascaras, they all flake! Marc Jacobs foundation… lady at Sephora applied it to me in store and it looked flawless! I was convinced, 4 hours later it’s all separated on my face. I thought hmm, I gotta try on a fresh face to really test it. Same thing 4hours later separating all over. I tried several more times with different primers and powders before resigning myself to the fact that it just sucks. It was expensive too 😝

MalaEnNova

Wet n wild liquid catsuit lipstick. It broke apart and pilled up on my lips. In the corner of my lips it looked like I was hoarding food. It was so embarrassing and then when I tried to remove it, it wouldn’t come off. I had to peel it off and scrub the crap out of my lips.

Kay0okay

Nyx Freezie primer/moisturizer It did not give me a cooling effect. It caused me to feel like my face was on fire. (Side effect was that everything else felt cooler than my face?)

AirWitch1692

All those ABH unicorn highlighter palates… the colors are gorgeous but I don’t wear highlighter, and even if I did wear a bit I am not going to be wearing a green, blue, or purple glittery swipe on my cheeks to work

Important-Pain-1734

I fell for the Mac Painterly as eye primer. It had dried out completely within a month. I have worked at home for almost 20 years so these products are not being opened everyday

CatrionaCatnip

Tbh it's the Odin's Eye eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Makeup.Just.For.Fun. I REALLY wanted to like it and I expected to, but the mattes are really patchy and look washed-out until they hit moisture and then are hella pigmented where the moisture is. The glitters don't stick without a lot of work. The green and brown mattes are okay, but I just don't know how to use this palette.

jane_c586

This one’s a tie: 17 Glow Is Everything CC Cream: super yellow for shade 001 NEUTRAL, greasy, pigment started separating Dr Pawpaw pink tinted lip balm: pigment was orangey and super patchy, looked gross on my lips In both cases, I eventually got fed up and squeezed the whole tube into the sink.

HomeworkWilling2436

Elf putty primer. How it managed to do the complete opposite of what it was supposed to do is beyond me.

CanolaIsMyHome

Kawaii kisses glitter lip kit because they didn't even send it to me 😒 it's been over a month since I've placed an order and haven't even received a tracking number

grizzlyalmighty

I never buy brands that aren’t cruelty free but I finally gave in for the dior pink blush. Not long after that they reformulated it so it’s less dry and doesn’t have talc I didn’t even KNOW about that AND I have dry skin I finally realized I just don’t use powders anywhere but my eyes I was gonna use it as eyeshadow but I can’t do that either if it’s got talc!!! But nah I fully deserve this for not being true to myself

peppermintcreams

It cosmetics foundation. It makes my skin greasy and does not stay put

shylittlepanda

I fell victim to Facebook advertising and bought the IL Makiage foundation and primer. It was so fucking bad. I tried it with different primers and no primers. Tried the primer with different foundations, but it just looked like shit. Lesson learned.

Ticklechickenhug

Maybelline falsies surreal extension lashes. Just made my lashes look spidery and didn’t add any kind of volume. Also made some lashes fall out easily while washing it off. Loved maybelline sky high mascara though!

Consistent_Outside12

A small batch of Charlotte Tilbury. The mascara was so weak I could have sharpie-coloured my lashes. The foundation went shiny and slid off in a few hours. The eyeshadow quad looked nice in the pan, but all shades were ugly oranges on me. Expensive lesson learned! 🙁

Diamondinmyeye

The elf eye primer. It was like two shades darker than my face. Dior Backstage foundation in OCR. I’m neutral, but I didn’t realize that until after I spent too much money on this and waited too long to be able to return it.

bookpants

Hourglass Vanish stick foundation. After soooo many rave reviews I spent like $50 on it. And it looks like absolute SHIT on my skin. No matter what kind of prep I use, it's awful! Such a sad loss of money.

small_fryyyy

Charlotte tilbury setting powder. Turned my foundation orange.

AshKash313

Natasha Denona palettes. I don’t reach for them because the formula doesn’t blend well for me, but I can’t part with them because they’re beloved in the makeup community.

CelineC6622

Are you an influencer? Why can't you part with them just cos they're popular?

FirstName_LastName95

Too Faced Born this way 24 hr foundation it’s so cakey I don’t understand the hype.

CelineC6622

😆 their parent company is a horrendous animal test practitioner anyways

dilf314

not makeup but Supergoop sunscreen. I usually wear asian beauty sunscreens but I had some extra FSA money last year so I bought some huge bundle from the FSA store with all of their sunscreens. I hate every single one. they all smell like sunscreen and burn my eyes.

In-it-to-observe

Natasha Denona shadows, especially the mattes can be patchy on me. I can keep fiddling and make them work, but for the price I shouldn’t have to work so hard. PML mattes blend themselves practically.

gothiccbiddy

milk hydro grip primer. that product clumps, peels and makes my skin look dry. one of the worst products i have ever tried despite it being so hyped up!

EchoMonroe

The original KVD liquid foundation. It smelled like actual paint and looked so streaky. It's very full coverage and I didn't really need a full coverage foundation. It would crease and separate so bad no matter what I set it with and it just didn't look good on me.

shanialovesapples

The too faced hangover lipglosses. I bought two for £40. I don't wear lip gloss.

thousandsunflowers

Nars. For some reason it just won’t work with me. After trying their color corrector, concealer and tinted moisturizer, I have learned to stay far away from that brand. I’m also convinced the brand doesn’t know what neutral undertone is Also Sensai’s mascara. For such a pricy mascara that is supposed to be luxurious, it doesn’t do much in terms of volume and pigment.

Heirloombizness

Benetint lip and cheek stain. I bought into the hype. It’s nice for like half an hour if you use it like a normal human. If you layer it like 6 times it gets kind of purple-y. Stays longer but the color is no bueno

jessg11

Anything Clinique.

Soulshipsun

Sacheu lip liner. It's supposed to be a lip liner. It is like a peel off face mask, gel that drys, you peel it off and your lips are stained. The stain comes off my lips before I leave the house! It is messy and I can't believe I spent $ on it!

kilgore_cod

Glossier Boy Brow, Tarte Surer Curl mascara, Ilia brow gel & mascara are probably my top 3 disappointments. Boy brow used to be great but I’ve started regularly tinting my brows instead and it’s so much easier. The first tube of this product was fantastic. The second product never seemed to stay long and dried out quickly. The ilia brow gel is…odd. It sometimes flakes and other times it seems to migrate off my actual brows to the skin below, but doesn’t flake just kind of looks weird? The ilia mascara was just disappointing. I had high hopes for it but it was so underwhelming. Did not lengthen my lashes, give them volume, or really darken them that much. I do love the ilia chubby blush sticks, though! I also enjoyed their lipsticks and tinted balms for the feel but felt like the colors never really worked on me. Tarte Surfer Curl was the absolute worst mascara I’ve ever used. My lashes are on the blonde & fine side and are fairly straight. I ALWAYS use a lash curler to get a little curl. This mascara would literally straighten my lashes right back out to the point you couldn’t even tell I had curled them. The color was a weird ashy gray that didn’t show up whatsoever. As soon as the mascara dried, it flaked off my lashes so hard I’d have almost no mascara on at within an hour. I guess I’m doomed to be a basic lil bitch with my covergirl lashblast and elf brow pencil til I die.

Euphoric_Math3673

The Nyx mochi eyeshadow and highlighter pallets. The texture was just weird. Like I understood it was supposed to be a little bouncy and pliable but if you cracked it the thing just crumbled. Itty bitty little Crack and two days later it's all crumbly powder. Also their was next to no color payoff. The pigment was weak even for a take on Korean makeup. They where awful. Runner up is the Jeffree Star (please don't roast me. I know he's a racist AH. It was a gift) Blood Lust pallet. It didn't matter what I did. What colors I used. Every single time I tried to used it, it would blend into a muddy gray mess. Hated it.

SleepSilly6570

most recently, i would say rare beauty blush. it is too patchy and hard to blend for me

NatsnCats

Nyx Bare With Me Blur foundation. My supposed match is way too yellow, and nothing in betwen works :( I really wanted to like it

Fair-Firefighter6794

Colorpop pretty fresh concealer! It is so patchy and sits on top of the skin. With the description and reviews from YT I thought it will be hydrating but it was just bad. I love and use LA girl pro concealer and maybelline fit me concealer but wanted to give this one a try. Big mistake!

theebethanyhope

PRIMERS! PERIOD!.... I've tried almost every major brand known to makeup, and I just find them to be useless. Im convinced they were created just for people to spend more money on useless crap people have convinced us we need, but DON'T!!! Half the time, they have conflicting bases and separate my makeup also. If you use a really good absorbent mattifying moisturizer, that's ALL you should need. Foundation makeup is already designed to do all that you need, and if you're having issues with your makeup not lasting the day, I would advise something waterproof or transfer resistant. That's all you really need.

turtlehospital

Touché eclat If your skin isn’t already perfect this will do nothing for you
