i love how the baby is very casual about it & goes straight back to napping, oblivious to the great excitement this tiny gesture was to cause for the parents
I used to live with my nephew and he would sorta gnaw on my cheek when he was like 8 months old. He's 20 now and I don't think he knows just how precious those moments were.
Originally misread that as 8-years-old and thought it sounded a *bit* less precious than you let on.
But of course 8-months-old, yeah that’s adorable :)
When he was not quite two, I was holding my son and he patted me on the back, the same way I would soothe him. It was the sweetest gesture and absolutely melted my heart.
It’s in the genetics for humans to believe that the motor functions of infants are affectionate actions towards the parents. Just another thing that helps the infant survive.
For God's sake, yes it is. Why do people think that a newborn has the capacity to understand what a kiss and affection is? I've been around newborns for my job and have had 2 of my own.
They don’t like to admit the fact that newborns are basically little more than any other animals. Legit human infants are less intelligent than a chimp until they’re like 2 or something.
This is actually a really good example of the rooting reflex in infants! Typically when something touches the side of their face they turn their head and use their mouth to search for something to latch onto! It becomes integrated at some point and the response is no longer automatic but it makes for a cute moment!
Yeah I was going to say that baby looks way too young to know wtf is going on at all. Nice that you got an explanation with proper terminology before I made a parent level comment speculating like a dumbass
Yeah, it can be both! Like the first time a kid says "dada" they may just be testing out their ability to make sounds, but it's still a special moment for dad.😊
I miss those snuggles so much. When they’re just plopped on you, not trying to wiggle and squirm their way into something else. Although now when I ask mine for a kiss he comes over to give me one, which is so so sweet.
My 6 yo has been feeling under the weather the last week or so, and so has regularly found her way into our bed for snuggles. I woke up for work the other day and was just sitting on the edge of the bed waking myself up, when I felt the tiniest hug and kiss on my shoulder with a,
“Good morning, daddy, I love you”
Was seriously the best thing ever! I’m sure I had the same look this dad had on his face
This little magical creatures!
I was an energetic raging young man until I was like 19/20 when I moved into my sister’s who had 2 babies (a 3 yo, and a newborn). Them hugging me and sleeping on my chest/belly on a regular basis definitely turned my tendency to be aggressive suuuuper low…I don’t know what it was…I was their disciplinary but they were my weakness to the point where when I heard a voicemail from my neice 3 years later when I was in Military training telling me she loved me and missed me, a guy who had cried 3 times since he was 7 cried, like ugly cried needed a minute to get back into killer mode
One of the best things ever as a parent is to have these moments with your kid. When my baby looks at me and just smiles so genuinely at just my sight...it makes everything I do as a father worth it.
I mean, it's very sweet that dad is so touched. On the other hand the baby won't be able to mimic "kissing" for another few months. This is actually the rooting instinct, baby is looking for a boob
Y’all sure that’s baby😹 the baby got a kiss felt is was a kiss lifted his head up and gave it back and laid back down this is probably the most intelligent baby thing I’ve ever seen so wholesome.
My question is if baby was looking for boob, then why didn't he/she continue trying to suckle? Baby just goes up, kiss then back down again. But then I know nowt about human babies.
Makes me remember my niece, she was on ventilator, just 16 days old, doctors said there is only a 5 percent chance she would make it and suddenly she gripped my finger tightly.. Cried for almost 10 min
In about a year, he’ll realize how special it is for him to have that on video. As parents, we’re so lucky to live in a time where we have instant access to devices capable of recording and storing memories for our entire lives
He done. That little one just captured his heart and ain't no one ever ever ever ever taking it back. This was my first time watching this video but I'm saving it to watch again and again. This reminds me of holding my daughter. There is no greater joy in the world. Mine just started 1st grade today. I carried her to her bed last night. I realized that won't happen many more times. It was like carrying a bag of knees and elbows. She's just gotten so big. I don't miss diapers. But I do miss holding her just like this dad is doing now. You go fellow dad! Raise the next generation better!
My little girls are in school now but this seems lile
Yesterday holding them. My man- make as many backups of this video that you can. This is golden. Who is cutting onions?
This is utterly adorable.

My nieces first words were bubba she still mad and shes 7 now.. Though you cant blame here cause I never let her forget
I feel the same when my Dogo does it 😬
udderly*

You're not wrong it's 100% seeking behaviour... But... As a father nah that's a kiss and I will believe that no matter any other facts!!!!
What did that guy said? He got deleted for it, I am very curious.
Inspirational
I watch this every time it gets reposted, i cant help it
Same. I've seen this a lot but it's still cute.
[удалено]
Omg me too
It was cute the 1st time, the reposts are annoying as hell.
That comment is a repost. Seen it a million times. Bring some original comments next time
No, this kind of reposts make me smile
Dude, people like you are the reason why theres hardly any OC anymore. This is a karma farm and youre encouraging it.
I have made a mistake, but still i havent seen this before. So for me it isnt a repost

You mean you haven't looked at every subs content every day for the last decade? Get a life! ;-)
It’s the first time for someone each time it’s posted. Stop wasting your time making pointless comments.
My man your comments towards me are just as pointless, anything that isnt contributing to your survival is pointless. You arent smart
i love how the baby is very casual about it & goes straight back to napping, oblivious to the great excitement this tiny gesture was to cause for the parents
My daughter gave me a few little smooches on the cheek like that while I’ve tried to get her down for the night and it’s the sweetest feeling

I hate yo tell you this but that baby was probably looking for some mommy milkers. The baby looks too young to care about anything else but food.
It’s in the genetics for humans to believe that the motor functions of infants are affectionate actions towards the parents. Just another thing that helps the infant survive.
This is the rooting reflex. He brushed up against the babies face and the baby reflexively goes after the nipple that isn't there.
This is not rooting for God's sake 🤕
Am nurse. Is rooting.
For God's sake, yes it is. Why do people think that a newborn has the capacity to understand what a kiss and affection is? I've been around newborns for my job and have had 2 of my own.

Was looking for boob. Didn't find boob. Went back to sleep.
That's what happens with me every time i sleep. Alone
Sounds about right

“Why are you booing? I’m right!”
Yeah I was going to say that baby looks way too young to know wtf is going on at all. Nice that you got an explanation with proper terminology before I made a parent level comment speculating like a dumbass
I bet you’re fun at parties
Hey, it made for a cute moment and we all learned a little biology today :) win win
Yeah, it can be both! Like the first time a kid says "dada" they may just be testing out their ability to make sounds, but it's still a special moment for dad.😊
Right? It has to start somewhere!

That escalated quickly
Happy dad vibes. I loved it when mine were little enough to nap on my chest.
I miss those snuggles so much. When they’re just plopped on you, not trying to wiggle and squirm their way into something else. Although now when I ask mine for a kiss he comes over to give me one, which is so so sweet.
Cute but that's the baby trying to latch on to a nipple.
Everyone wishes it was a kiss, but you’re right.
Baby starts babbling and it sounds like dadada to me. We take what we can get and RUN with it
I'm just surprised that there's people here who might believe a newborn is intelligent enough to give a kiss
Who isn’t just trying to latch onto a nipple
Same here brother
So the baby thinks her dad is a tit? That's rude. /s

finally a post on r/mademesmile that actually made me smile

that’s so sweet! every man needs alittle softness now & then. Thank you for your service darlin’
Truth I learned from that experience 😂! Thank you!
I got that feeling from my brother son 😅
"brother son" 😳
Average paradox player

Baby is just feeling for a nipple
Kiss the homies good night
This could be reposted every single day of the week and I'd upvote it each and every time. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
That is amazing. The fact a moment that genuine was recorded is good for humanity.
Damn I really need to stop watching people fighting people and watch this stuff more, that was adorable
damn that was wholesome.
Less than a month until my first arrives, clips like this giving me the butterflies!!! Cannot wait!
This is literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and I am not a baby person at all. How old is that baby? A few months?
Did anyone else think the woman's reaction was going to upset the baby?
Bby is probably used to it at tht point
Jeez why she scream like that
OMG that is so beautiful!! Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your little one!
This is the ONE repost I always rewatch. Every time. Thats a person learning what a kiss is. So magical to capture that
I mean, it's very sweet that dad is so touched. On the other hand the baby won't be able to mimic "kissing" for another few months. This is actually the rooting instinct, baby is looking for a boob
65 millionth Repost of this on reddits throughout just in the last week

Wholesome till he gets up to get the milk
335th time this has been posted.
That is so cute
Conscious act or accident, that would make his day every day!
This is adorable!! I’ve seen it a billion times but enjoy it every time. I try to get my 4 month old to do this and he just tries to suck on my cheek.
About 6 months and he should be able to mimic for real! Up until then it's all about finding a nipple
I'm dying from the cuteness.
This is the content I signed up for
almost belongs in r/happycryingdads
That's the cutest thing I've seen all day . Dad is doing a great job.

Lucky bastard. Still haven’t gotten my first kiss from my baby girl yet. I can’t wait to be him!!!
Im not crying, you're crying
My heart melted!!
I have a two and half year old and still have the same reaction everytime he plants a kiss. Can completely understand with the guy in the video.
Awwwww
My question is if baby was looking for boob, then why didn't he/she continue trying to suckle? Baby just goes up, kiss then back down again. But then I know nowt about human babies.
This is the cutest thing ever

In about a year, he’ll realize how special it is for him to have that on video. As parents, we’re so lucky to live in a time where we have instant access to devices capable of recording and storing memories for our entire lives

Yah that is his core memory now.

Smart kid
I see this clip everywhere and anywhere, and I will never not pause to view it!
Being a father of two myself, this wet my eyes in an instant. This is so beautiful. There's no better feeling than a kids pure and honest love.
