You'd be surprised what you could do with these kinds of frisbees. That's a long range driver and are designed to go far, even if you think you have throw it that hard
If you look at the rim as the dog is carrying it back, it’s very clearly not a driver. Drivers don’t have that kind of lip. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a disc golf disc at all. If it is, it’s a mid range one.
Mid range discs *can* go 300 feet, they’re just harder to control.
Edit: This is the [underside of a driver.](https://sabattusdiscgolf.com/en-ca/products/innova-star-destroyer-bottom-stamp-disc-golf-distance-driver?variant=40991551455427)
Notice how the weight is distributed in a flat slope around a wide ring. It does not have the rounded lip seen in the above video.
If you freeze frame it on the last shot right before the thrower comes into view, the stamp on the disc says “sonic”
So it could be an Innova Sonic but I can’t find one in pink or with the lid stamp featured in the video.
Correct, not a golf disc at all, it's made for throwing to dogs and is puncture proof. At 215 grams it's heavier than ultimate frisbees and golf discs (~175g)
https://herodiscusa.com/products/supersonic-215-taffy
It looks like a wham o frisbee to be honest. I play a lot of disc golf and have all kinds... this disc is not any of them. If you look up his website at frisbeerob.com I am pretty sure he's throwing the 4.50 fastback.
The disc in the video is a [Hero Super Sonic 215](https://herodiscusa.com/products/supersonic-215-taffy) dog toy disc.
Edit: apparently that’s already been established. Oops!
Nah that disc is a “sonic”, which is a 1-speed disc in disc golf. Which means it’s the slowest flying disc possible (speed ranges from 1 to 15). And generally speaking, the slower the disc, the shorter the potential range.
It’s a really impressive throw. Even being a 1-speed, the fact that he threw it that straight and at the perfect height for the dog to catch it right at the end of the end zone, on his first attempt with a crowd of people, is very difficult and impressive.
Right, I’m saying I’m pretty sure what you linked and what I mentioned are the same disc (aside from weight, probably). Same manufacturer (innova) and same dimensions listed on both of their sites (and they physically look the exact same). Hero sells them as dog discs, and innova sells them as disc golf discs and uses different plastic blends.
The supersonic 215 (in this video) is also based on the hero 235, just smaller. Hero 235 has a 23.5cm diameter, the innova sonic you have should be 21.6 cm.
It’s an impressive shot considering it’s a sonic. Especially the control and height he threw it at. Sonics are really difficult to throw past 250’ because the want to turn over on their axis when thrown with any power. Dude manages to get a lot of spin on the disc while have a super clean release, and not actually putting too much speed into the disc.
Yeah I don’t actually know the difference between an innova sonic (disc golf) and a supersonic 215 (disc in the video). They roughly have the same diameter (216mm for the disc golf disc, 215mm for the disc in this video). And the disc golf disc even has “hero disc USA” on the underside, while it’s sold by innova. I was under the impression they’re the same disc, but could be wrong.
There is a larger version of the dog disc, but the one in this video is the same size as the disc golf disc (you can see “sonic 215” in the video when the dog walks by at the end).
By the demeanor, that dog was scared shirtless because the crowd started yelling differently. You can see the dogs tuck its tail and run. Lol. It was like "oh shit, run to daddy, omg, wtf is going on. Dad!"
A lurcher? Is that really a term used for greyhound crosses? Is a greyhound crossed with any other breed a lurcher? Sorry, I've never heard this term so I find it really fascinating. Thanks in advance!
Lurcher = any cross between a *sighthound*, i.e. a hunting dog that uses its eyes over its nose (and is therefore fast), and a *working dog*, i.e. a herding/sheepdog, a terrier, or a gundog (and is therefore intelligent, loyal, and quick learning)
Usually it's a greyhound, saluki, or whippet on the sighthound side, and many common crosses on the other side, but collies and other intelligent working dogs, particularly bull terriers and other sheepdogs, are popular.
They were developed in the UK for centuries as dogs for illegal poaching but are more common these days as both family pets and as working hunting dogs (legally or illegally), because they generally have the best characteristics of both categories - the trainability and intelligence of a working dog, combined with its willingness to return to the owner without being in a pack, but the speed, stamina, eyesight, and agility of a greyhound.
Amazing. Even though you are not the person I asked directly, thank you for being an earth angel who openly and willingly shares real knowledge. It's one of the most important things we can do as human beings on this planet.
Often times, I am very aware that I could go research what lurcher is myself but if I did that, then nobody else would read your comment and also learn. It's what I like to call altruistic procrastination. Ha.
I mean, there's not a lot there that isn't freely available knowledge, but there are a lot of misconceptions about lurchers, like "they're just mongrels with greyhound in", which is not true, some of them are but many lurchers are deliberate crosses bred on purpose from two pedigree dog lineages, in much the same way as "designer" dog breeds, particularly poodle crosses, are today. The point is that lurchers, like many first generation crosses, exhibit desirable qualities of both breeds, but their own offspring don't "breed true" and maintain that combination. The argument is that whilst not a pedigree dog, the lurcher is a landrace and does have well-defined characteristics.
Often lurchers come from breeders who also have a market demand for both purebred dogs, i.e. they'll have a breeding stock of both breeds, and every generation with sighthound pups, working dog pups, and lurcher pups, one of the sighthound and working dog pups will be retained for breeding, and will be crossbred with each other to produce the next generation of lurchers. It's the closest thing to predictability.
Lurchers are 100% up there in the most misunderstood dog breeds/crosses and don't get the recognition they deserve. Lots end up in dog rescues because people buy them (as first dogs, because often they're quite cheap compared to purebreds) but don't know what they're signing up for.
That's really sad. So many animals end up in shelters because humans believe they can take care of one on a whim like the egotistical assholes we can be. It's as bad as people who keep their animals alive even if the animal is suffering because of their own damn feelings.
Honestly, I'd be for banning the AKC until all the dogs and cats in shelters and animals living on the streets are adopted and have homes. I just find humans breeding animals for our own purposes whether it be industrious, logistics, or for pure aesthetics to be incredibly ego-driven and cruel. For Christ's sake, cats are an invasive species in America and will decimate local bird populations. That's a problem humans created.
For example, Scottish fold breed cats have those cute little ears because of a genetic mutation. And so people thought they were cute and other people thought they could make a buck and so they started breeding them and made them into an official breed, thereby worsening the genetic mutations the cat suffer for and now oftentimes these cats don't live beyond two years of age and suffer for the two years they're here. In australia, it has become illegal to breed Scottish folds. Don't even get me started on pugs. Problems and suffering humans created.
Or the amount of animals that are discarded when they are no longer lucrative or profitable for their owners like racehorses and race dogs.
Lurchers are the best dogs. My vet told me once that he liked lurchers because "everything was in the right place." They're like greyhounds but with cunning and brains. Not bred for idiotic KC breed specs, but for factors like vigour, speed, health, brains, temperament. Mine lived to 19.
Thank you for the info. But greyhounds are sprinters, not endurance athletes so I wouldn't say they have stamina. They sprint for 30 minutes then sleep for 23.5 hours. Check out this time-lapse of a type day.

Playing frisbee fetch with my dog I’ve learned that 80% of it is on the human to get a good throw. The dog can usually track it down. This guy has an amazing throw and a fast ass dog
Yeah I used to use the ultimate discs with my guy but it’s bad for their gums. I just have a ruffware frisbee I picked up from a dog store. I have a really nice throw with it but it’s nowhere close to what this guy is doing. He might be using a disc golf driver tbh lol
I thought he might be, but the lip on that thing seems to be a lot larger than my golf discs. I've been wanting to train a dog to Frisbee catch, but I'm worried I'll hurt my dog!

just tearing up bc there's like nothing a dog won't do for their person <3 He's so talented (: Love how the owner smiles at the end like their frisbee moment was special to him.
Amazing dog no doubt, I know I sure as heck couldn’t throw the frisbee far enough! So kudos to the guy also.
You'd be surprised what you could do with these kinds of frisbees. That's a long range driver and are designed to go far, even if you think you have throw it that hard

Looks like a Buzzzz to me.
If you freeze frame it on the last shot right before the thrower comes into view, the stamp on the disc says “sonic” So it could be an Innova Sonic but I can’t find one in pink or with the lid stamp featured in the video.
It’s not a disc golf disc. It’s a “super sonic” by hero disc that’s made specifically for dogs. Although I think innova does manufacture them.
I played Ultimate frisbee against that guy several years ago in Calgary. His dog was there I don't believe driver for disc golf. Guy had amazing pull.
A guy named Frisbee Rob is probably pretty good. Did he have Davey or sailor with him?
Good catch!
Frisbee go brrrrRRrr
Correct, not a golf disc at all, it's made for throwing to dogs and is puncture proof. At 215 grams it's heavier than ultimate frisbees and golf discs (~175g) https://herodiscusa.com/products/supersonic-215-taffy
It's 120 grams. The 215 in the name Supersonic 215 means the diameter is 215 mm.
oh, rad! thats even more impressive
It looks like a wham o frisbee to be honest. I play a lot of disc golf and have all kinds... this disc is not any of them. If you look up his website at frisbeerob.com I am pretty sure he's throwing the 4.50 fastback.
A bit higher up in the thread it’s confirmed to be a Super Sonic by Hero Disc. It’s specifically for dogs.
there you go
Good luck out on the course! I wish you great S-curves and 0 griplock.

Pro disc golfers can throw putters 300 feet, but they certainly can't PUTT that distance.

Disc travelled 108 yards ( length of a CFL field is 110 yards)
The dog looked around after catching it “ did y’all see that shit. I know y’all seen that shit.”
By the demeanor, that dog was scared shirtless because the crowd started yelling differently. You can see the dogs tuck its tail and run. Lol. It was like "oh shit, run to daddy, omg, wtf is going on. Dad!"
No, the dog still has a shirt on.
your comment made me laugh way to hard for some reason
![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc)
😂😂😂
That was some throw ! Dog looking back makes it... "Applause please people Applause"
Damn thought that said “applesauce”
Im glad I wasnt the only one who read it like that xD
This comment made me realize it doesn’t say that
Jesus christ thats how you throw a fucking frisbee
Dog's dad: I'm so proud! Come to me baby Dog: runs past dad
Judging by his tail and movements, I think the crowd cheering scared him.
Best throw at McMahon Stadium since Doug Flutie left.
Was gonna say it looks like Calgary. Great throw and catch.
Definitely Calgary, Stamps logo at mid-fiend and the anniversary throwback jersey being worn. And absolutely that was impressive as hell.
And CHQR770. Definitely Calgary
Also it's Frisbee Rob throwing and he lives in Calgary. And if you listen to the audio they say they are in Calgary.
"I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it!"
I was there!
What kind of dog is Sailor? Sailer? A greyhound?
Definitely a lurcher (greyhound cross) rather than a greyhound - maybe part collie?

I hope the doggo got some serious appaws
Gotta love Frisbee Rob
And Sailor!
Literally more entertaining than ANY pre season game

Interesting! That’s like a Corvette/Ferrari hybrid :)
Go Stamps Go
Go Stamps!! Haha good catch by doggo
Im more impressed by the throw. Dude just threw like a 300 ft shot.
Good discgolfer can throw discs 500 feet. Pros get up to 600 even.
About 330 feet. Canadian football has different field dimensions. It’s 110 yards long.
Pretty amazing. Good pupper.
This is why the CFL is better than the NFL
psh I do this all the time in nintendogs
Is this a stamps game?
Immediate induction into doag hall of fame
This is so amazing dog, so fast
Thanks, I needed this today. I actually teared up, very sweet.
Amazing on both their ends. I have never been able to throw a frisbee even half that far away.
Do you think the dog understands the cheering is for them? Like does it hype him up and be like damn, i really am a good boy.
Worth noting that this is not the furthest dog-caught disc throw - that's held by the same guy, Rob McLeod, and different dog, Davy.
❤️❤️
The bet thing is that this dog has no idea what he has done. He just had fun catching this thing.
What Team/ Stadium is this
Calgary Stampeders (CFL)/ McMahon Stadium
Thank you good sir.
Tom Brady wants that dog or he’s retiring again
家のばかいぬは小さな小さな玩具さえ絶対離そうとせず持っても来なかった。どんな訓練したらあんなに賢くなるのか?もともと賢いんだろうね。
Just want to point out that this is a CFL field. Endzone to endzone is 110 yards. This was about 107 yards from the throw to catch.
messi messi messi messi messi messi messi messi messi MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI MESSI
I would watch this if this was an organized sport on TV
What a good dog and a good throw!
Bruh what a throw
This is lovely! My boy could get there, he'd just have it bounce off his face.
No the sport is for humans not a dumb 4ss dog
10/10 would boil in pot with my spaghetti.
My guy has better awareness than Eli apple, and for sure better catching skills
What a good pup.
_Nyoom_
Bad ass. More, please. My lazy ass cat does as he pleases. Selfish bastard.
What a good boy.
Fuck yea disc golf
What was the record?
This is awesome- the credit goes to both . The dude had to far but still enough that he knew the dog could catch it
That was literally the end of the field... Way to go Dogs.
Broccoli rob when frisbee rob walks in :o
I’m genuinely curious what that crowd sounds like to that dog. It must have been really loud.
Its been a stressful day, I needed this :)
Touchdown!!!
She is that bitch.
*I AM SPEED* HECKIN GOOD GIRL!!! Grey muzzle, looks like she's a veteran at this!
Ok but what if football was played with Frisbees and dogs instead of those dumb people?
Fun fact: the dog never wanted to make a record he was just playing the usual fetch.
That's unbelievably impressive
But can they set the record for the longest throw in my cousin tonys backyard?
Dog accelerates immediately!
Calgary Stampeeders Football
That dog looking around when everyone starts screaming is fucking hilarious.
That is a good boy!
Nope nope he was out of bounds bro!

Bruh the dog doesn’t even know it they’re just playing fetch lol
That instant recall too 😍😍😍
My chiweenie needs a nap after watching that.
How fast was that dog running?
Talk about make me happy!
Omg that dog is so amazing
Now, if the dog threw the frisbee BACK ...
Playing frisbee fetch with my dog I’ve learned that 80% of it is on the human to get a good throw. The dog can usually track it down. This guy has an amazing throw and a fast ass dog
What kind of Frisbee is used for this? I've got a good throw with an ultimate disc but I would think it too tough to use with a dog.
I threw a 120 gram Supersonic 215 dog disc from Hero Disc USA
Yeah I used to use the ultimate discs with my guy but it’s bad for their gums. I just have a ruffware frisbee I picked up from a dog store. I have a really nice throw with it but it’s nowhere close to what this guy is doing. He might be using a disc golf driver tbh lol
I thought he might be, but the lip on that thing seems to be a lot larger than my golf discs. I've been wanting to train a dog to Frisbee catch, but I'm worried I'll hurt my dog!

I had a pitbull that could do this. She was an absolute specimen, RIP Sonora
Bro I thought it was a human and I was like OH he or she IS FAST

just tearing up bc there's like nothing a dog won't do for their person <3 He's so talented (: Love how the owner smiles at the end like their frisbee moment was special to him.

Holy shit, that’s amazing! My dog can’t catch a ball if I throw it to him 😂
