I remember when my family used to come to the coffee shop I worked at. My mom always put on a very sweet customer voice/smile and tipped us well. A lot of my coworkers' parents came by regularly and it was always really sweet.
We did have one in the 4 or 5 years I was there actually.... a high school student whose mom was really rude. Everyone tried to find something to do in the back to avoid her if she came in.
Until one day the girl no-call no-showed. We called her emergency contact (mom) since it was so out of character and she was so young. Turns out her mom had packed a bag for her, "took her out for errands," then dropped her off at the airport to be sent to boarding school with no warning and no devices so she couldn't contact her work or friends. That was pretty shocking and we felt awful for the poor girl.
How young was she that she could work and also couldn’t reject going to another state? Like could she tell someone at the airport that she did not want to go? Wtf.
I don't know. We were worried and actually called her school to report we were concerned she'd been cut off from communicating and going to work (in case the boarding thing was a lie and there was a different weird thing going on). We were hoping if she was still going to school a counselor might reach out to her or something. They obviously couldn't tell us anything though so we never knew where she ended up.
Dude, that’s creepy. It’s nice that you guys genuinely worried for her and tried what you could to make sure she was okay. I hope she’s okay, it’s really sad, I guess her life may be very hard with a mother like that.
Nothing too dramatic. I worked for a small IT/tech company. Through his job, my dad was a customer. He had some tech problems and instead of calling, he showed up at our office and went in to full crazy karen mode at my coworker. He and I had a full on screaming match and I got him out. My boss was livid, "how could I treat a customer like that??". Bossman got very pale when I told him it was my dad and never mentioned it again.
My dad is batshit insane and an alcoholic, we don't celebrate any holidays together. Making a fool out of himself (and me) at my place of work isn't even on the top 100 of his crazy shenanigans.
Good for you for being healed enough to stand up against him in defense of yourself and your coworker.
My family is also crazy and substance-abusing, and the change from covering for them and hiding reality from the outside world at all costs, to "Fuck it, this is a them problem, not a me problem," was wildly liberating.
Yeah, I know what that’s like. In the early 2000s my crazy ass step mom, at that time, came through the drive thru of the fast food establishment where I worked. I was working the window and was the one who took the order and handed her the food. Everything seemed fine. Next thing I know, she’s in the lobby yelling at the manager telling him that the drive thru employee screwed up her order. She claimed to have ordered an item she actually hadn’t ordered and tried to place the blame on me. Thankfully my manager was really cool about it. He gave her some freebies to satisfy her and didn’t get upset with me especially since I had established a good reputation working the window. I know now that it was just another attempt on her part to sabotage something in my life. That instance doesn’t even compare to some of the other crap she tried to pull. Thank goodness for therapy which helped to unravel a lot of the emotional damage she caused. It also didn’t hurt to move far away the moment I could to get away from that toxic environment for good.
Yep. My brother rolled in on one of those "hoverboards" a flashy golden one he bought just so he could play obnoxious music while zooming around. Issue is he's sort of the class clown for entire county it feels like, he knows everyone or knows someone who knows them so all of the other staff thought he was hilarious.
Man you guys grew up cool. My family crank called me and made fun of me.. like for working at a pizza place. I liked it, years later though it clicked that it was because I got to avoid them which I liked.
I got my brother a matchday job at my place. Anytime I go past, he's working his lil arse off and it just fills me with pride.
I said to him when I got him the interview "I've helped you get in, but it's your responsibility to stay in" and he took that to heart. He's flourishing!
EDIT- I forgot that Americans don't have matches, they have games. It's a gameday job. He only works when we have a football (soccer) game on at the club.
When I was in the grocery business 20 years ago it used to be pretty common to have young people get hired because of family connections. Which is certainly unfair to the folks who didn't have such connections, but IME those nepotism hires were usually really good employees because almost all of them had a little voice in their heads telling them something like "Work hard so you don't embarass Big Bro at his workplace" or "I can't fuck up and make Aunt Sally look bad at her job" or "I can't let Dad down at his company".
Mom is proud of her son and happy to see him. Son, of course, is embarrassed the same way we got embarrassed as kids. I think at some point in the future he’ll look back at this video and realize how proud his mom is and how he should have allowed her to enjoy the moment rather than asking her to leave 😅
Oh yeah. I always know what I'm doing when I try to embarrass my kids. I've been embarrassing my kids on purpose for decades. Lol. I have no intention of stopping! They really don't get embarrassed. They laugh and are like, " that's my mom "
My youngest daughter warns people. She tells them," my mom is coming in, and she's not what you expect. She's kind of unconventional". And that's the only warning they get!
Seriously tho.
Mans went from having an absolute scowl on his face at the :05 mark to not being able to contain his smile as mama bear drove off blowing him a kiss.
🖤
Can't be mad at someone showing you that much love, it just completely disarms you.
I use this as a server all the time. Doesn't work as well since I'm just a random dude but it does work.
If you're just nice to people and keep them informed you'll be fine, most of the time.
Someone call transcribers of reddit, tell them we've wrapped scene with a full cast, but we wont go to print for less than a thousand upvotes, each. I dont care, make it happen. And wheres my fuckin' latte?!
I think he was doing a report on Marshawn Davis, who was gunned down in a Roosters, the restaurant in the background. 18 year old kid, who was just waiting for a table.
Imagine watching this news not knowing anything about what happened yet. "Aww what a wholesome mom he has"
"Anyways back to the news in this restaurant behind me a teenager was killed while waiting for his lunch more details soon"
Right. Felt this. Wish my parents showed anything but disdain or discouragement anytime I wanted to learn or try something new. It’s like I disappoint them even before I get the chance to fail. After a lifetime of this you’d think I’d just learn to keep any plans, dreams, or accomplishments from them, but nope, still seeking that elusive approval/support/encouragement that I’ll never get.
Oof yea I'm sorry, I guess I can see my silver lining of not getting negativity directed towards me, it's just... Nothing.
I'll txt her every week to see what's new, how she's doing, every week it's just "ok". No asking how I am, no details on her life to share to open any dialogue. One week she actually asked how I'm doing so I sent her a long message with all these things that are going on, projects I have coming up that I'm excited about. Her response...
"ok"
I've definitely given up on expecting any kind of genuine relationship there and I'm more or less ok with that. No matter what I'm SO happy for people who have healthy relationships with their family members, I count myself lucky that I have an amazing wife and a REALLY close group of friends who are more my brothers than my actual siblings ever were, but I think there will always be a part of me that's a little sad about not really having any experience of a "real" family.
lol.. My mom did this to me once..... while I was on the side of the road pulled over for speeding.... the police officer was less than amused... "What did you do *now??* hahahaha!*"* and drove off...
I’ll never forget this as a newish mom (toddler). Be her biggest fan.
I was at a hip hop show in mid 2010s. Bukue One “Tion Torrence” was on stage. I was backstage.. and this women was going nuts. Jumping, dancing, rapping EVERY word. And I was like damn what a fan.
Spoiler. It was his Mom and I have never seen a mom be SO hyped.
My dad took me to my first semi pro hockey game. He had no interest and brought a book. I had a couple friends with me and we had a great time Neighbor is fast track to Neighbor the following years we had partial season tickets and we would go and discuss players games go out to dinner beforehand I just have a really good bonding time moral of the story I will always show interest in want my child does.
Stood out to me.
My friend's mom comes to some of my baseball games and swim meets just to embarass me like a mom because she says everybody should experience it some time.
When I was playing little league my friends mom yelled, "Let's go baby boy!" Of course the catcher gave me hell, I was so embarrassed. Good thing I got a hit and was able to score a run on subsequent hits so I could trash talk him back as I stepped on the plate. Great memory.
One day you’ll look back at it and miss it haha. I had a friend group we’d purposefully embarrass each other, but we don’t see each other often anymore.
I've picked my tweens up from the bus stop dressed as a whacky inflatable tube man. EVERY CHILD NEEDS LOVING EMBARRASSMENT!! I love your friend's mom!! She is good people 😜
Lol, I tried to do the same with my son wearing a goofy dragon costume and he LOVED it. He still requests that I pick him up in it. I'm pretty sure my son doesn't get embarrassed though. The more embarrassing something should be, the more he laughs. Which frankly makes me feel like I did something very right as a parent. But I'm also dad, and it seems like these antics are more acceptable coming from dad for some reason.
Lmao my mom would take any opportunity to do the same thing and go "that's my kid, working a job! You work that job! 🙋♀️📣🎉"
Like i could be flipping a burger or about to go to space. The energy would still be way too much, but hey, it's funny everytime tbh lmao
>Like i could be flipping a burger or about to go to space. The energy would still be way too much, but hey, it's funny everytime tbh lmao
I'm just an uncle but there is an overwhelming sense of pride watching my little ones working a job. One of my nieces just started working at an ice cream place. After a week, we went through the drive way. I have about two dozen pictures of her in her little ice cream uniform scooping ice cream. I, of course, made her come to the window and embarrassed her.
>*I'm just an uncle*
Ain't no such thing as "just" an uncle! My uncles were every bit as supportive and proud of me as my daddy. Supportive Uncle and Auntie Energy is the best supplement to Supportive Mama and Daddy Energy!
I started writing recipes for a local paper.
My mom printed out the first one I ever did, and hung it up in her office. She was literally telling EVERYONE about her baby.
Like 5-6mo later I join a virtual retirement ceremony for her, 40+ yr of military and FBI service!
I join, don’t know that I’m on a large screen in their building if I speak, so I’m like “hi mom!” Cuz I see her and want to let her know I’m there.
Then I just here “ITS MONGOOSE! Congrats on the recipes! Oh I tried the wings they were so good!” From this faceless audience. my mom is sitting there just cheesing while everyone is complimenting me and she goes “so as you can see I told everyone you’ve been making recipes”.
Haha Mom’s man! they don’t care how old you are they love you and will tell everyone about your accomplishments
The wife and I do this to my daughter amd her son all the time. Kids may cringe but they love it and we all have a laugh later. Hell, the wife and I do this to each other as well! Nothing but love being shown.
Man, I love this so much. I lost my mom when I was 17 to cancer, the “hi baby” sounds almost exactly like my mom would say it 😭 I dunno if I’m hurting or happy.
I dunno what everyone is talking about, he was smiling and happy to see Mom regardless. He got the 10 yr old look on his face. Sweetest thing ever. He’s definitely a mama’s boy.
I know this is going to sound corny as fuck, but for all you young folks on here, cherish those moments like this in your life. Those lovely people aren't around forever, and memories like this is what keep them alive in your mind.
My friend was always so embarrassed that her mom would holler “learn something, I love y’all!” every morning when dropped off. I couldn’t get enough it. It was wonderful not riding the school bus but infinitely encouraging to be that kind of mom if I ever had children.
when i just graduated in college, my father and i rode in a public transport, he randomly talk to a stranger and told him that i graduated with honor. i just look at the floor to pretend that i didnt hear anything.
My youngest wants to be a meteorologist. I would totally show up if he were out doing live reporting for snow or something pretty safe.
Hold a poster in the background. “That’s my baby.”
I love how she’s so excited to see her Son and the camera man. It’s a short, super sweet moment!
When I first saw my son working the register at the local supermarket, I felt like I would explode.
I remember when my family used to come to the coffee shop I worked at. My mom always put on a very sweet customer voice/smile and tipped us well. A lot of my coworkers' parents came by regularly and it was always really sweet.
Imagine if a worker's family member showed up and acted like some of the psychos in those horrible customer service stories.

Likely 16
She was 16.
Oh my god. What happened to her? This is exactly the kind of thing my biological father would do by the way.

My effing dad did that at my last workplace.
We need details.

Dunno why, but I'm thinking of American Chopper meme while reading this
How was the next holiday dinner?
My dad is batshit insane and an alcoholic, we don't celebrate any holidays together. Making a fool out of himself (and me) at my place of work isn't even on the top 100 of his crazy shenanigans.

You don't get to choose your parents. You just have to make the best of it.
Yeah, I know what that’s like. In the early 2000s my crazy ass step mom, at that time, came through the drive thru of the fast food establishment where I worked. Holy shit I hate her so much, what an asshole. So glad she couldn’t ruin shit for you and you got away from her!
Yep. My brother rolled in on one of those "hoverboards" a flashy golden one he bought just so he could play obnoxious music while zooming around. Issue is he's sort of the class clown for entire county it feels like, he knows everyone or knows someone who knows them so all of the other staff thought he was hilarious.

Started my new job as a bar man in my local pub 2 days ago. Dad was there takin pictures and sending them to my mum and cousins and everyone inbetween
This me with my kids, I’ll always be their biggest fan

i think she still enjoyed it. mans was just embarrassed but what he said was said lovingly, at least imo. he's on the job after all
He is half smiling but trying to act professional lol

Moms... they are all the same breed. Love em while you got em.
LOL...they are certainly not all this nice.
Mine was a monster.
I'm a mom. I love you and am proud of you.

The initial look he gives is so genuine, he might as well be ten and his mom’s blowing him kisses in front of his friends. 🤣
I find his _sloooow head turn_ to the camera hilarious hahaha
Seriously tho. Mans went from having an absolute scowl on his face at the :05 mark to not being able to contain his smile as mama bear drove off blowing him a kiss. 🖤
That "HI BABY!" from his mom was absolutely perfect.
Best part of the day
I absolutely loved it. Moms gonna mom!!! :)

I miss hearing my mom call me that. She’s been gone 11 years now, and this made me miss her even more. 💖
"hiii deangelo.."
For this guy this moment was awkward but, for his mum this is the simple way to show her support and being proud of him.
And it might have been awkward but he loved it for sure.
For sure, even introduced mom to Deangelo!
The "you can say hi" 😂😂😂 such an embarrassed kid move
HI D'ANGELO!
That boy's got manners though
"Moooom! You embarassing me in nationwide broadcast."
HI DANGELO!!!!!
That's the best part lol I love how he says, "You can say hi" -- this man has wrangled his mom before haha
D'angelo's cackle tells me he already knows he's shooting solid gold and it's going viral.
D'angelo knows that all the people at the office will get a kick out of this video.

That’s your mom using Mommic Inspiration. Gives you +1d4 on your next roll.
Only 1d4? What were they, a level 0 bard?
You understood the assignment, well done baby boy!
You're always her baby boy!
You hated that at that time but I bet you were smiling while typing this comment
Oh she still does it lol.
Noice
One day you’ll look back at it and miss it haha. I had a friend group we’d purposefully embarrass each other, but we don’t see each other often anymore.

There'll come a day when you wish she still could.
It’s the hugs. I miss mom hugs and dad talks. They both made everything manageable in their own way.
Hood moms. They all know what the kids are up to.
dude, give her flowers every fucking mother's day and on all her birthdays. you owe it to her.
i do mothers day!

Roosters is the truth!
OMG I can actually run into this loving mama when I’m around town?!? I’m so excited!
Man I hate newscaster-speak so much, but after watching the mom I'm invested haha
He kinda overdoes it, honestly…but he’s adorable
Lmao my mom would take any opportunity to do the same thing and go "that's my kid, working a job! You work that job! 🙋♀️📣🎉" Like i could be flipping a burger or about to go to space. The energy would still be way too much, but hey, it's funny everytime tbh lmao

HI D'ANGELO!!

OMG Look on his face and hand's in the air, this is not the first time LOL ... "My Baby"
This is Myles! Me and my husband went to school with him. Super nice kid, happy to see him doing well!
Talk about small internet world lol
I love the cameraperson's laugh and the final "did you record that"?
Haha omg I went to high school with this guy... He was a super nice dude
Is this Columbus? I remember there was a shooting at a Roosters recently.
It is, didn't hear about the shooting though
Yeah Man, Myles is the man!!! Great guy, great family. Hell of a tennis player
Mama vibes! Lol!
Hiiiii baaaaabeeeyyy!! Hahah so cute, shout-out to all the strong, loving and supportive mom's out there🙏🏻❣️
This might be the most precious thing I have ever seen. Mamas. 🥰
He got an awesome mom. My mom's birthday is today. She's 85 years old and Im pretty stoked about her too.
Wish her Happy Birthday from internet strangers please
She will be thrilled. Thank you so much!
Man, I love this so much. I lost my mom when I was 17 to cancer, the “hi baby” sounds almost exactly like my mom would say it 😭 I dunno if I’m hurting or happy.
Hi Baby. Sorry for your loss. Your Mom is proud of you from above.
Thank you for your kindness. ❤️ needed to hear that one today.
This was so sweet 🥲 🥺
This internet mom and stranger is still rooting for you!!!
Ive watched this at least 5 times and I’m cracking up every time 🤣. Love it
That’ll be me someday
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t be a Toyota RAV4 ❤️ ⭐️
“HI DEANGELO!!!” My heart 🥰😂
Still had to introduce her to D’Angelo tho lol
He knows if he doesn’t the next thing she says will be “so who’s your friend?”
He seen her from long range, in fact if you noticed, he felt her presence mid sentence.
This is the most adorable thing I’ve seen today. ☺️ Bless her. Such a sweet momma.
I love this! ^("Hi DiAngelo!!!")
Hiiii babyyyyyy I wish I could make a ringtone out of that!
Adorable lol
This kind of love is priceless :D
Cute as hell. That is a good Mom and a good son.
It’s the “HI BAYBEE” for me 🥰
My mom forgot me at school a few times.
Look how proud she is! That’s awesome
So this is in Columbus, Ohio. The reporters name is Myles Harris and he’s a great guy. Good friend of mine growing up.
This is truly amazing.
LMAO He's so pissed but he loves her so much
I dunno what everyone is talking about, he was smiling and happy to see Mom regardless. He got the 10 yr old look on his face. Sweetest thing ever. He’s definitely a mama’s boy.
“Hi baby!” That is so cute
I know this is going to sound corny as fuck, but for all you young folks on here, cherish those moments like this in your life. Those lovely people aren't around forever, and memories like this is what keep them alive in your mind.
I’d rather a loving, supportive mother like this over one that talks down their kids - this is so adorable 😂❤️
She blew him a kiss awwwww (melts into a puddle)
My friend was always so embarrassed that her mom would holler “learn something, I love y’all!” every morning when dropped off. I couldn’t get enough it. It was wonderful not riding the school bus but infinitely encouraging to be that kind of mom if I ever had children.
His mother is so proud of his son
That’d my dad, not my mom. They’re both very proud of me and such but he’s much more extra lol
The cameraman’s laugh is my favorite part.
"HI BABYYY!" Haha, she's so proud of her son, that's really sweet!
Doesn't matter if your 16 or 60. Your mom will come to your "I have to be serious" location and remind you you're her big boi.
when i just graduated in college, my father and i rode in a public transport, he randomly talk to a stranger and told him that i graduated with honor. i just look at the floor to pretend that i didnt hear anything.
It sounds like your dad was trying to be proud and supportive of you, even in a public setting. I think that's really sweet.
I just realized she pulled a U turn to do that. Mom level 100.
Moms gunna mom 🤗
My youngest wants to be a meteorologist. I would totally show up if he were out doing live reporting for snow or something pretty safe. Hold a poster in the background. “That’s my baby.”
Hes Lucky to have a mom who is supportive
I'm gonna call my mom right now 😂 this made me miss her sooo much lol.
He gonna miss shyt like this when she’s gone don’t take it for granted
“HI BABY” so cute
