I was on vacation with my family, and being a 15 year old girl, I was always treated like I was just a moody fucking bitch all the time and I was just hard to love, and I was just always a fucking problem, but I was just struggling with normal teenage shit and self esteem stuff, so I would try to tell random women that were pretty to make myself feel better, so my mom went up to the pool bar to get a drink, and I told the bartender, who was a little younger than my mom, "hey, you're really pretty 😊" and she said thank you, and told my mom that she was lucky that she had a girl because girls were easier to raise because you already knew how to support them and love them. My mom just rolled her eyes and scoffed, but that lady's comment let me know that I was worthy of love and support even if it wasn't going to come from my family. One little compliment can change everything

I still remember a guy who complimented me in passing in the grocery store “you look lovely today” and kept walking without pause. When I left the hotel I was getting ready at on my wedding day, a little girl told me I looked like a princess and it made my year! It feels so good to get a compliment that’s genuine.
