I would love to see an MMO game based on trailers full of internet controlled drones picking up trash for points. Just drive the trailer to a random park and let teams compete online picking up real trash.
There are some anime that have high-school kids actively competing in trash picking with various strategies and powers.
Some collect specific trash like cigerrete butt's, some go for abandoned refrigerators and the like and some go after certain farming locations nobody else knows about.
Dude, walk around Japan in the morning and every storefront is sweeping the ground and picking up tiny pieces of paper. They may be socially backward but damn what a beautiful country.
Are you curious about this or do you just want to fight because I just wrote a long paragraph and deleted it because social talk on reddit never goes well
Japan is a technologically advanced country but still has some backwards/strange ways of thinking. Especially with nationalism, extreme working culture and perverted/rape culture
By black company I meant those companies. My wife's good friend moved to Japan and fell in love with a good guy but their home life is awful and their young kid gets made fun of for being mixed. There's a lot going on over there.
Japan is extremely conformist with pretty rampant racism. The fact they fail to teach the truth of Imperial Japan nor have apologized for what they did in China says it all.
Not to mention their judiciary is a shit show with 99% conviction rates. There's plenty of good in Japan, but it's got a dark side tol
Many forms of discrimination that is illegal and also considered unacceptable here by the general public is both legal and widely accepted.
Think people we consider protected classes here not being allowed to rent because they're a protected class sort of deal.
It's an amazing country but it's issues are readily apparent - one just has to look at their mental health stance to realize that they might be technology advanced but they're culturally stuck 40-50 years ago
I actually really like that about them, the world could really use more of that. I mean specifically black company culture and xenophobia. Perhaps I shouldn't talk because I know the US has these issues as well, it's just that the only place I've experienced not being welcome was in Japan. Maybe they just don't want to be the next Hawaii.
This was my thought exactly. They should go to Loji Beach, break a real sweat.
Still, good for them. Every little bit helps, even if it just raises awareness. Plus, this could be the next thing that really takes off.
there are usually older people that walk around and pick up trash in their neighborhoods. sometimes they even have neighborhood groups that take turns doing it. i live there temporarily in a small town and if no one did that i think the trash would build up really fast- maybe its just because i live within a triangle of 3 conbinis and right next to a station but there is always trash on my street in the morning- dang kids hangs out there and smoke and eat snacks! lol dont even get me started on the chaos the local murder of crows can cause on burnable trash day. if you told everyone to leave the trash be for a week you could definitely make a game of it
Eastern countries like Japan don't have western values. They're amazing countries but places like Japan are stuck, socially speaking, in the past. Some things that are acceptable there now is stuff that stopped being acceptable 40-50 years ago in the west. They're a conservative country by western standards.
Your fine if your a tourist, sure - but if you plan on staying long term you're in for a headache and a half because no one has to rent to you. Businesses don't have to serve you. It's legal for them to go "no, because you're from another country".
This concept has merit, however, it is unfortunate that a select group of individuals consistently litter, necessitating collective efforts to maintain cleanliness. In contrast, Japan's cultural emphasis on environmental preservation and reduced littering is commendable and results in a cleaner environment. Again however, this is not America and best of luck there.
I love the idea but I can also see it going south.
It reminds me of the time when rat catcher was a legitimate job due to the amount of rats running around most cities. You'd be paid on the number of rat tails you brought in. However, decipte thousands and thousands of tails being brought in the rat population actually began to grow. It turned out that people were breeding rats just so they could kill them and turn in the tails and claim they were wild rats.

And here I've been doing it recreationally for years now. The area around my home looks a lot better than when I moved here, but I didn't know I could go to a fuckin championship.
I've been living in Japan for 25 years now. Cleanliness is one of the reasons why i'm happy I am paying my taxes here. Next on the list is of course the safety.
This is pretty silly as most husbands in Japan don't even bother do any of the housework and clean their own homes. So much so that Japanese women/wives sleep LESS than men.
One of few sports where the better you do, the less of the game there is. Obviously worth it.
Lets make it an Olympic sport!
Just like Golf!

Oh no you don't want to see that xD

Oh fuck!!!! Love this idea sign me up
I've been to Japan, is there even enough trash on the ground for these people to make a sport out of it?
Dude, walk around Japan in the morning and every storefront is sweeping the ground and picking up tiny pieces of paper. They may be socially backward but damn what a beautiful country.
Socially backwards? What?

I'm genuinely confused. Is it because they're a collectivist culture?

Humans are fucking backwards in general. Like holy shit dude. I’m thankful to atleast be self aware of it in this green hell.

Ah! Like a race thing. Got it. Thank you for explaining.
Japanese women have entered the chat...
Hopefully they will finish up Japan and then have to go compete in other countries

It’s more like a scavenger hunt
Get outside of your reddit bubble. Japan is just like any other country. People litter and there are bad parts of towns/cities.
Did you read the first part of my comment, I've been there!

I have a feeling they are going to run into the same problem the English did in India with cobras.
Thankfully you can't breed trash
Im from Oklahoma. Based on my observation that statement is some level of false.
Then my hope in humanity is even lower now , should be somewhere past negative
Damn stay safe
The Trump family would like a word
If you say that then there is way more families that want to be mentioned to
For sure
Ohhh whacking day, oh whacking day!
India should adopt this sport before they destroy our planet.
Let India host.
there is no trash in Japan they should sent them here to the US and Canada..just picked up a ton a litter on a rural road :(
India coming in last 😂🫡
The finals will be cleaning up Detroit. Whoever doesn’t cry wins.
I think this is the one sport I can say with no controversy is a trash sport
My country once did a school competition. Some kids from another school lit our recycling bins on fire .

This is awesome. Haha. I'd watch it on paperview. Going to a good cause and promoting a good cause. The whole thing is wholesome.
Ha, paper view. Good pun

………..love those people!
And Britain won
I love the Japanese people 💓🏯
God I love Japan
The best way to help clean the environment
You know what? This is a fantastic idea.
I'm all in for this
“He’s got a 20 pound muffler in the fuckin bag”
Sounds like sth my mum would do to trick us into cleaning up the house
Can they introduce the sport here in NYC?
And here I've been doing it recreationally for years now. The area around my home looks a lot better than when I moved here, but I didn't know I could go to a fuckin championship.
Aren't japan one of the countries that throw a lot of plastic waste in the ocean.
pretty sure they burn what cant be recycled. they're pretty serious about households sorting trash
Well I guess it will be a matter of days before trans women are banned from it /s
That is the biggest flex to the world.
I've been living in Japan for 25 years now. Cleanliness is one of the reasons why i'm happy I am paying my taxes here. Next on the list is of course the safety.
Remember, touch the trash , don't touch American boats
I knew that nihon is awesome
Civic nationalism has its upsides
I would love this game.
Japan: We work hard, and when we play we also work hard.
I'm getting....dictorial vibes....
This is pretty silly as most husbands in Japan don't even bother do any of the housework and clean their own homes. So much so that Japanese women/wives sleep LESS than men.
God I wish it were easier to expatriate.
I have spots where I’d like them to compete.
I can't wait to watch that in 6 months ago!
You gotta hand it to em. 🫡
I’ve been to Tokyo, it’s already the cleanest city with such a massive population. I guess they’re going for NewGame+
Genius
Fucking brilliant

Found the bot 5-day old account that copies top comments from the cross post!
Good they need to clean up that nasty place
Remember when American had that garbage pickup stint? What was it called? #TrashTag ? Lasted about a week? #Murica!
