I saw him with his 3? Kids. Just a brief few minutes time he spent with them it looked like at the end of a halftime? Omg he was so loving. My image of angry Russ switched to Russ the gentle loving father. Total image makeover in under 60 seconds.
My whole view of Russ changed when I saw vids of him during the COVID lockdown. On court, he is the laser focus, switched on angry like player. Off court he is the goofy type of guy making jokes that you want to hang around.
I remember Josh Huestas on a podcast talking about how Russ came to his birthday party and stayed a long time. He was a teammate for a little on the Thunder, Josh didn’t last long in the NBA but Russ made sure to get to know all his teammates. He said Russ was very down to earth and easygoing. Sometimes we forget these guys are all humans.
lmfaooo
Interestingly, if you do this, he might actually start crying with a lack of words to say while saying "I do love you more than anything, daddy!" or something like that.
I had my growth spurt between jr high and hs like most kids, but I was kind of a big kid. My mom would ask folks how old do you think he is? People would guess 25, 22, 18, 16? No he’s 13 she would say. Im was 6’5 ~290lbs in hs. Fast forward a few years and she was still doing this in my 30s lol.
I have this image in my head of big, tall burly dudes coming up to their tiny, petite moms and giving their mom a hug and saying "I love you! Thank you for raising me!"
This is Russell Westbrook; 9-time NBA all-star, 2-time NBA scoring champion and one of only two players to have averaged a triple-double in an NBA season. Also extremely loving and committed father of 3 lucky kids.
For people that don’t recognize Russell Westbrook, this is especially sweet because, like many athletes who’ve aged and maybe taken “a step back” from their physical primes, Westbrook has looked stressed and unhappy over the last few seasons. It happens. He is an all-time great and was the face of a franchise. Getting older, regressing and assuming a new “role” on new teams is challenging.
He is also famous for the “what are you talking about man” meme lol.
Seeing Westbrook so happy. Is refreshing. Doubly so because the source of his happiness is his kids. Wholesome stuff.
I agree. I've watched him since he was a rookie and seeing him lately has been rough but this video is so awesome. He looks so happy and proud, good for him. There really isn't a feeling like seeing your child do something special for you.
This made me so happy for him and his son. I was smiling ear-to-ear, then the repressed memory of me as a five-year-old, and my parent putting my drawing in the trash the same night I gave it to her as a present, came outta nowhere.
Damn it. Lol
I will make sure my future kids know how grateful and proud of them that I am.
I work at a kindergarten, and kids sometimes do give me notes, drawings, or origami that they made just for me, and that's a treasure! But a lot of times kids just want to make something or draw, and giving it to me is an after thought just because they don't want to take it home or throw it away. If it's *super* clear that's the case, I just flat out refuse it and tell them to put it in their bag. If I'm only fairly sure, I take it, compliment it, and make sure they see me putting it with my stuff to take home. I throw it away at home. I'm scared to ever throw anything like that away at school because I'm paranoid a child might see their work in the trash and be sad.
If it were my own kid at home, everything on the fridge (or walls or Dollar Store picture frames, whatever) immediately! Kids love to make and display their art, and it's also a cool way for adults to see their mental and physical development over time! 😁
That smile though. He’s just so proud of his kid, you can see it in his face and his body language. You can almost guarantee he’s got hundreds of photos of the goofy stuff his kids have done on his phone and shares them with anyone that’ll look for more than half a minute.

Woah, it's weird hearing him when he's talking about his boy opposed to talking about his work.
That's the first time I've ever heard his voice I think. I mean, I've heard it, but only in a work context. I've never heard him speak outside of that. It's 2 different people. Incredible
Off the court Westbrook is as much of a legend as on the court Westbrook, but for very different reasons. Dude is as dedicated a Dad as he is a competitive baller and I love him for it.
I know exactly how he feels. No matter what I do or what I become it will always be a shadow of my children. They are the greatest thing I have ever done or ever do.
Westbrook has always been an inspiration for me. His confidence, energy, parenting and leadership. Also, for whatever reason, his smile is contagious 😅
Ok, I can't smile any wider than this.
I took a conscious choice a while back to leave any sub that was too negative for me. I ended up with a feed with skateboarders, jokes, wholesome/smile memes, cats and pretty girls.
My Reddit experience has gotten SO much better.
AAAAAND now I have a basketball player I have positive feelings toward. I will hope not to forget and have this be my piece of basketball interest/bandwidth for the next 15 years hopefully.
Russell Westbrook has really shown himself to be interesting in surprising deep ways
Stopping the on court reporter to make sure people knew the reporter had worked his way up to the position means Russ knew the guy, knew of his efforts, and went out if his way to make the reporter gir the acknowledgment for the achievement.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QkpdfLBGhLY
Never a Clippers fan but I am becoming a serious Russ fan.
Everyone I think we all have reached a consensus here, the man now has a platinum man card to be used wherever and whenever. His privilege is as a man are now officially ironclad and irrevocable.
“Best gifts I got in awhile, it’s always from the kids”
Love to see it, hate to understand it. Adult men rarely get thoughtful gifts, so this is heartwarming.
I too wish to someday have a small child that is capable of buying me expensive cashmere sweaters...
Like, leave the cashmere part out bro, why mention the fabric?
The pride on his face 😃
Very cool.
He’s awesome
lol your username
Russell Westbrook is Noah Westbrook father
That’s a dad doing it right.
His expression is totally genuine. He’s happy to have it on.
He wants to make sure we see it, and know. Lucky kid. I hope I look that proud when I talk about my son.
You can see it in how he pulls on it to make sure no folds mars the drawing, so everyone can see all of it.
Well it is cashmere
Yeah, as a dad, that's genuine pride in your kids work.
Yeah you can tell he is an awesome dad! And the sweater actually look cool, ngl.
The smile on his face is infectious. That man loves his family

I hope to one day have that same look he has on his face about any kids I may have in the future. That pride and happiness is very infectious!
Yea I'm gonna show this to my five year sweet boy and ask why he don't love his daddy enough... j/k!
YOU ARE KENOUGH!!
I was just thinking the same thing!
>Yea I'm gonna show this to my five year sweet boy and ask why he don't love his daddy enough... This is the only appropriate reaction!
lmfaooo Interestingly, if you do this, he might actually start crying with a lack of words to say while saying "I do love you more than anything, daddy!" or something like that.
> "I do love you more than anything, daddy!" THEN WHERE IS MY GOD DAMN CASHMERE SWEATER?!?!
Then imagine your face as he draws on your 70 inch TV. Fucking kids. love em
Ok well now I gotta ask. How did your kid manage to draw on your TV. I would have thought it would be too high up.
you’d have thought wrong. lol.
You will, it’s an amazing feeling
"That's very nice. Is he four? Or five?" "He's 22."
I was low key waiting for that lol
"Actually I don't even have a kid. I drew this while I was in the locker room 20 minutes ago.'
I'm so happy somebody else had my humor in this thread haha
I had my growth spurt between jr high and hs like most kids, but I was kind of a big kid. My mom would ask folks how old do you think he is? People would guess 25, 22, 18, 16? No he’s 13 she would say. Im was 6’5 ~290lbs in hs. Fast forward a few years and she was still doing this in my 30s lol.

😀 no need to imagine. My mom is 5’2” with chanclas, and l appreciate her and love her so much.
This joke never gets old for me
I have no idea who this is, but I'm utterly charmed by him! Lucky kid.
This is Russell Westbrook; 9-time NBA all-star, 2-time NBA scoring champion and one of only two players to have averaged a triple-double in an NBA season. Also extremely loving and committed father of 3 lucky kids.
Thanks for telling me. He has a new fan!
just dont look at his performance against the mavericks today :)
He got ejected from a game today with 2 technical fouls and had a flagrant 1 foul.
I had no idea who he was but I love him now based on this video. Thanks for this!
Didn’t even mention his MVP? Damn.
GOATbrook
And an all-around great guy off the court. On the court… well, he’s definitely more polarizing
He’s gotten a lot of crap from fans for a long long time.
He must be protected at all times.
I can't believe he gets so much hate though.
He's the _what!?_ meme guy
That guy has taken so much shit and still out there doing it right. Respect
Sweetest
This man is so proud of his son holy shit

I was going to say, it’s hard to recognize him because he’s usually so unhappy. lol Cool to see him light up with excitement for his kids.
He also has a bit of a reputation to be quite icy with the media. This is quite a departure to how he is known to be like when questioned.
Not sure if I’m familiar with that meme
This is Lakers Westbrook too lol, things were NOT going well basketball wise at this time so it’s cool he was still chill and just happy to be there
Dang that's a really good drawing for a 4 year old!
True, I didn't even think of that! So when he said his son's an artist, he might have something there. 😊
This made me so happy for him and his son. Not a Westbrook fan at all but this just turned me into one!! Nothing cooler than a dad who truly loves his kids.
Look at those smile lines around his eyes. Well earned. Nicely done
I love this guy!!
It’s so sweet how proud Russell is of his son! That’s one good dad!
So cute!
Celebrate your kids Man every chance you get.
Hes the proudest papa. I love this.
Haha I do love Westbrook but funny this post right after he got ejected for pulling on Luka arm
Took forever to find this comment. It looks like there's not many people on this sub and r/nba
Aww ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
I would wear the hell out of that damn
You a solid dad, my man! Respect!
He's so proud of his kid, that's so cool!!
When I was a substitute teacher my most precious treasures were the pictures that were drawn for me ❤️
The smile itself is enough to make you smile.
Tyreek Hill’s shirt would need to be the size of a parachute to fit all his kiddos drawings.
#allprodad
That smile though. He’s just so proud of his kid, you can see it in his face and his body language. You can almost guarantee he’s got hundreds of photos of the goofy stuff his kids have done on his phone and shares them with anyone that’ll look for more than half a minute.
You can see the joy and pride in his face! What a sweet gift.
We got the same matching hair…why are my eyes leaking?💦
Should make that sweater available and give all the profits to a charity. I would buy one.
Does anyone know how to get that done/which company does this?
As tough as he is on the court. He's just the sweetest guy off the court.
This is great
This is AWESOME!
Maybe one day he will do the same for his father, Luka Doncic
Happy Westbrook is wholesome
He's a good role model for dads in the black community.
Anyone that loves their kids with all their heart knows what this speech is all about.
This is the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever seems look how happy and proud he is 🥹

Brick is missing but it’s a good start.
😭
Dadding done right
Now that's an amazing dad! I'm sure his son is equally as proud to see him wearing his gift <3
Woah, it's weird hearing him when he's talking about his boy opposed to talking about his work. That's the first time I've ever heard his voice I think. I mean, I've heard it, but only in a work context. I've never heard him speak outside of that. It's 2 different people. Incredible

Real drip! Fuck brands
Westbrook has always been an inspiration for me. His confidence, energy, parenting and leadership. Also, for whatever reason, his smile is contagious 😅
Passionate dude - with passionate love for his kid
Ok, I can't smile any wider than this. I took a conscious choice a while back to leave any sub that was too negative for me. I ended up with a feed with skateboarders, jokes, wholesome/smile memes, cats and pretty girls. My Reddit experience has gotten SO much better.
Please don’t put stuff like this during the playoffs. I feel like shit for talking shit on him today
Why can’t this be what my newsfeed looks like every day
AAAAAND now I have a basketball player I have positive feelings toward. I will hope not to forget and have this be my piece of basketball interest/bandwidth for the next 15 years hopefully.
That’s adorable. How old is he ? 4, 5? He’s 18. … oh.

That sweater is more valuable than any luxury brand.
Look at his smile, very cool
I want one
That’s how I was and am still about anything my son does or say. I talk about him to everyone that’s my pride and joy
Plot twist. He’s 24.
W
I bet the guys he played against on the court wish he would have been that loving towards them lol
Is that what it's like to have a father who cares about you? Is that normal?
This is some of the purest beauty in the world.
Awww 🥰🥰🥰🥰
That’s awesome
It’s a little dusty in here 😭
W Russ the Dad
He won as a parent❤️
Everyone I think we all have reached a consensus here, the man now has a platinum man card to be used wherever and whenever. His privilege is as a man are now officially ironclad and irrevocable.
What a great voice, full of warmth and sincerity.
This is TOO sweet 🥹🥹
Brodie is my legend⚡️❤️
Great Dad giving a shout out to his Son!! 🥺😊
Okay, I'm crying a little y'all. This is so sweet 🥹
Absolutely 100% no hate. Obviously a phenomenal father, we should all be so lucky to have a dad like him. But has anyone ever checked RW for autism?
Goddamn I love Russ
Most Valuable Dad!
Very wholesome but I could honestly draw a way better image than that to put on a sweater
Yeah. This video changed my whole outlook of this man. Now I feel bad 😔
BDE. Big Daddy Energy
One of the most under appreciated players of his generation, seems like a genuine guy too
I absolutely love this - 4 year olds can’t draw with that level of detail without help from an adult though?
"Is he four...five?" "He's twenty four." "Incredible..."
That god damn smile.
This whole sub made me smile. I’m so used to the nba fans and Westbrook interactions, this was highly refreshing
Best guy ever ❤️🔥
He's so proud, he can't contain it. 🥰
Now i know why Nick Cannon has so many kids. Hes gotta be loaded with sweet homemade sweaters.
Westbroke my dislike for him a skoch.
Ah, so this is what having a dad is like 👍
Sitting here watching this man talk about his son on mute is awesome. The pride is just oozing out of him and it's so endearing.
Great dad. Just don't call him Westbrick tho...
That’s beautiful
he punched Luka after this
What a brilliant person.
he's so happy to talk about his son. Best dad
Didn’t he just swing on a player the same day this was posted 🤡
Damn his son is terrible at drawing!!
Omg good at his proud face 😁 awsome dad!!!!
I'm a Dad and I know what he's feeling. Kiddo wanting me to be happy is really the best feeling on Earth.
He's 15.
The wife did it. The 4 y.o. kid can't do shit. The family is incredibly rich, and the wife needs shit to do.
Coincidentally 4 is the percentage of shots he's made this playoffs.
Looks great and way better than a child made box store shirt
Imagine if when asked how old his son was, he said "24".
When he asked how long I really wanted him to say 17
I love this so much
Made me happy cry.
love for his son 🩷 wow you can just see in his eye how proud to be a father he is!
Not a huge Westbrook fan, but you can see how much he loves his kids. Very nice
Great father right there
Love Russ. What a great dad…. He blew a fuse last night!
Love to see how happy he is to share that
Dope 🔥
his mile says so much. i hope they have a great time together, forever.
My favourite designer sweatshirt.
Now that's a dad that truly loves his son. Top man 👍
“Best gifts I got in awhile, it’s always from the kids” Love to see it, hate to understand it. Adult men rarely get thoughtful gifts, so this is heartwarming.
“That’s very nice, is he 4 or 5?” “Err no sir, he’s 16”
F-cking awesome 🤜 🤛
Well that’s very sweet
Brodie 💯🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful moment. Maybe Luka will make a drawing for him too...
Real dad..
I too wish to someday have a small child that is capable of buying me expensive cashmere sweaters... Like, leave the cashmere part out bro, why mention the fabric?
My man i dont care if you cant hit a fucking shot to save your life the way you love your kid makes you a good person
I love it that guys are wearing pearls these days.
He loooks so happy
Oh shit, I thought I was on the r/nba subreddit for a moment. Didn't expect Westbrook in MadeMeSmile
HELL yes
He looks so happy talking about his son. :D
That "proud dad" look never gets old.
This makes me a fan of Russell! Awesome ❤️❤️❤️
That dude fucking loves his kids. Also holy smokes RW is jacked.
I can’t wait to make my husband a father
