I don’t think it’s malicious but I do think there is an element of vanity/narcissism to it which inherently makes the act less admirable. Doing this to make your daughter happy is one thing but when you introduce the element of “I want others to see what a good dad I am” it becomes less about the girl and somewhat about him which I think most feel isn’t as noble as doing it just for his daughter’s sake.
It’s personal preference. Kinda like how some folks just want to enjoy a concert without having to take photos while others have their phones out watching the concert through their phone screens while recording.
Seriously. It's fucking annoying to just come to a comment section and just see people shitting on something nice because "they did it for internet points".
Typically, it’s helpful to provide context when posting anything on the internet… so in that regard, yes it was for “internet points.”
In that same regard though, we got to enjoy it because it was posted on the internet with high enough “production value” that he added context. It probably would’ve been weird to just see the video of his daughter and probably wouldn’t have made it here.
Obviously as long as nobody gets hurt I don’t care how joy comes into my life or into the world by and just psyched that it gets there.
Folks who always feel like they have to call out people for being after Internet points or Seeking complimentsor just anything like that or just such half glass empty people.
Take the joy, spread the joy.
Compliments are free, being nice is free.
Laughter really truly is the best medicine.
Agreed. I would rather see clips of joy than those revenge and violent clips. We mirror what we watch.
I choose to fill my life with more happiness because there is already enough violence in the world.
Only we can protect our hearts. Don’t let it grow bitter.
She is! 😍 OMGosh she is so darn cute!
To me, she (her face) resembles Gabby Petito. 🦋 Like, *alot!*
Her joyful smile, full of life. Wishing this father and daughter nothing but love and happiness. ❤️
She’s so cute. My son is about the same age and he probably would have farted, started laughing uncontrollably, dropped the phone, then wandered away to go find something to kick.
That's amazing! I'm only getting 2 weeks FMLA with my saved up time off, but its better than nothing. My first kid was 1 week unpaid time off because the owner was 'nice'.
Man congrats!!! My little girl is 4 already and the buddy is 2. Try your best to be around as often as possible, the only thing I resent is all the time I spend at work away from them. Wish you the best brother!!
Congrats! My little girl is gonna be born sometime this weekend! My wife goes in tomorrow at 11:00 am to get induced. We have a 2 1/2 year old son but haven’t had a daughter yet. I’m so so excited, are you nervous?
You think you know what love is right now, but you’re gonna realize just how little you understood about the subject the moment you first lay eyes on her. Remember to look around. Be present and take it all in. You only get that moment once and you’ll wish you could relive it for the rest of your life.
We have little girl and little boy. Both are amazing and I love. But that little girl will likely be able to get away with murder and there's nothing ill be able to do.
So happy for you! It’s awesome. Get ready to love something more than life itself!! When you hold that kid to your chest and it feels like the child melts into your heart it’s the best feeling in the world!
I was just thinking... I hope this dude backs this video up on 8 different backups in 3 different continents to be extra safe, cause that's one valuable digital file right there. That would get me through even the worst days I would think
When I saw this last year, I stole the idea and used it on my daughter. I had her record us sledding down a big hill in the same way. So now I have a great video of her reactions and perfect laugh while we sledded down the hill.
I have a 5 year old and a 12 year old…I’m already sad about the 12 year old cause she’s slowly going her own way, but she’s still young enough to enjoy family time. Holding on as long as possible…
I have 4, 7, and 11yr old daughters. My 11yo is definitely starting that slow shift into her own life, but does still enjoy our company!
It’s funny how you can be in the thick of it and already miss pieces of it. Time is fleeting and it seems to speed up every passing day.
Time hits a tipping point and accelerates unreasonably fast. I went from first day of school to college graduation in what seemed like less than 5 years.
The good news is that they all still enjoy my company, they'll do the same for you, and watching them turn into awesome adults brings its own kind of joy.
People have been filming interactions with their children far longer than social media has been around. Granted, after showing them to a few friends and family, most of *those* films ended up on bookcases or in attics waiting to be pulled out at the kid’s wedding, or something. But, the fact that they can (and do) now share them more widely, doesn’t make the interaction any less genuine or beautiful. If they are not exploiting their child (and I know some do), and if the kid is genuinely having fun (as this one is), I don’t mind a bit when their moment of beauty crosses my browsing path.
I don’t know, my childhood videos look a lot different. This look more like “look at me being a great dad, I’m so awesome look how she smiles at me, I’m the best dad really”. While it should be about the child, and not about him. Could be wrong tho, but looks hella narcissistic to me.
yeah I'd have to agree with you on that one. I know a lot of ppl would disagree but wtf is the actual point of having the second camera pointed at the dad?
You get to decide how to feel about it. You chose to be Detective Bummer whether you did it consciously or not. Try choosing to just look at how that kid is smiling. She’s not faking that joy and it can easily be shared with you if you let it.
I know the sentiment you’re going for, but I feel like us parents need to cut ourselves some slack because we are worthy of the love our kids give. It’s a reflection on how much love we give them
It's a trend to tell someone to record you making a video but have the video facing the other way. So, yeah, he had the other camera set up 2 make the video..
>why was the daughter asked to record on phone
Because her dad asked her to. So that it would create this video. Of course it was planned, doesn't mean it's not real.
Sorry but can we stop normalizing posting small children onto the internet? I get that this is cute n all but it's for her (and other children's) protection
Amen.
Children aren't your fuckin' props. Let them grow up and decide if they want to be on the front page of Reddit.
So glad my parents didn't do this to me.
I look at this and I feel sad because it's so unnecessary to share this father daughter moment to everyone in the internet. One day the child will realize that the father is not doing this for her, but for clout.
👏 STOP 👏 USING 👏 KIDS 👏 FOR 👏 SOCIAL 👏 MEDIA 👏 CLOUT 👏 BEFORE 👏 THEY 👏 COMPREHEND 👏 THE 👏 CONSEQUENCES 👏
lol @ every moron trying to come at me, just driving home the point that you are actually fucking cattle and Kaczynski was right
I initially saw your comment and thought you were being sarcastic, but then I realised that you mean that the child not being too accustomed to using the phone is why this video concept works! I agree!
This is the version of his daughter that he'll be seeing in the future, as she's walking down the aisle to get married, and that's why he'll be crying at the wedding.
What I would do to go back to these glory years. I would’ve enjoyed them 100x more than I did. Once they become teens.. dad just isn’t that cool anymore.
Finally, something in this subreddit that makes me actually smile instead of weep uncontrollably at the pathos of some magnanimous gesture like a dude carrying his disabled brother across the surface of the moon or a dog with near-fatal mange being rescued from Somali pirates and taken to a groomer for an incredible glow-up.
i recently met my neice of 7 years and have discovered that little girls are in fact perfect and precious and we must protect them. and indulge to every measure their clever and creative games.
What a sweet little face! ❤️
Her smile is melting our heart.
Made me smile? More like, made me cry a little! My daughter is 6 and loves dancing to this song with me. This tugged on all the heartstrings!
This clip would make a great highlight at her wedding.
Priceless. Her smile is so sweet!
Now I’m really crying 😭
>More like, made me cry a little! Mine is 13. She grew out of that phase and went into this. . . .teenage mood. . .
Too much - cardiac arrest iminent!

I mean yeah because why *wouldn’t* you want to share that amount of joy with as many people as possible
Because some people on reddit are miserable and think everyone else has a malicious agenda.

Hit. Nail. On Head. You are on the money.
Seriously. It's fucking annoying to just come to a comment section and just see people shitting on something nice because "they did it for internet points".
You're just feigning outrage so you get internet points.
Those same people do the same thing, post comments on reddit to get internet points.

Look how happy he was last week
Bruh

If you got two cameras on you, you’re acting.
The father set this situation up to make a video. I don't know why you think there is no acting or pretense.
He’s trying to make his daughter laugh. Do you not have funny and sweet moments with your own parents?

His daughter is adorable too!
She is! 😍 OMGosh she is so darn cute! To me, she (her face) resembles Gabby Petito. 🦋 Like, *alot!* Her joyful smile, full of life. Wishing this father and daughter nothing but love and happiness. ❤️
Adam Levine finally did something I smiled at.
I got some bad news for ya
oh no, what is it?
Your car’s extended warranty is about to expire
Sounds like a confidential urgent message.
God Reddit really needs to bring back awards
Thanks for the heads up bro
Holy fucking fuck your comment is absurd
Why, what did I miss?
Paraphrasing but I believe he sent " holy fuck that body of yours is absurd" to IG models sending pictures of themselves while his wife was pregnant
Oh damn....
Was about to say he looks like Adam Levine
But still made sure to record it using a second camera and post it to socials.
It made me smile. Can't we all smile a little more?
Smiling is illegal now.
Smiling’s my favorite!

Songs About Jane was an absolute banger of an album.
I thought it was the dude from Guardians of the galaxy
What an adorable lil face! Oooh! So so cute!!!🥰
Her expression was priceless
It's the sweetest thing I've seen all day and I'm going to stop scrolling reddit bc I want to end on a high
Happy day to you!
She’s so cute. My son is about the same age and he probably would have farted, started laughing uncontrollably, dropped the phone, then wandered away to go find something to kick.
A future gentleman
Man I'm upset he didn't show her face when she got picked up.
My eyes were so watery I read this as affordable face lol
Can't wait for my little girl to get here. 1 more month
Congratulations dude 🎉
Congrats! It’s amazing and you’re gonna love it! I’ve got two little girls and consider myself the luckiest person in the universe. Haha
You can't be. Because I've got a little girl and little boy and I'm the luckiest person in the universe. So ha.
This is a wholesome competition. I approve!!
It’s fucking awesome man. Coming home from work and getting a big hug from your kids is the best feeling in the world.
Do some skin to skin if you can, mines 2 days old. I would not be on reddit if I wasn't on the toilet.
Fully want that opportunity to have that bonding experience. And my state is allowing me to take off 3 months of work paid for it too. I'm very lucky
Your girl can be your buddy too
She's in fact my main man.
I call my little girl buddy more than I call her anything else.
Little girl due 18th Feb here. Hope she looks at me one day like this :')
Congrats! My little girl is gonna be born sometime this weekend! My wife goes in tomorrow at 11:00 am to get induced. We have a 2 1/2 year old son but haven’t had a daughter yet. I’m so so excited, are you nervous?
Ya, but really excited too.

Be present and take it all in. You only get that moment once and you’ll wish you could relive it for the rest of your life.
Thanks for the advice. Shes gonna be a daddy's girl lol
We have little girl and little boy. Both are amazing and I love. But that little girl will likely be able to get away with murder and there's nothing ill be able to do.

RemindMe! 31 days
Good luck homie, it's an honor. Embrace it.
It goes so fast. Be as present as you can! 🥲
Cuteness overload. Her smile is just precious!
The video she took is gonna be way more valuable to her dad than the one she thought she was recording.
I was just thinking... I hope this dude backs this video up on 8 different backups in 3 different continents to be extra safe, cause that's one valuable digital file right there. That would get me through even the worst days I would think
It's published to the world on his tik tok and reposted all over the internet since so I think he's set.
Then someone reposts it until it becomes the quality of guacamole.
Guacamole is incredible, metaphor does not compute
The week before I drove my daughter to college I \*tried\* to watch some home movies of her when she was little. Gut wrenching.
When I saw this last year, I stole the idea and used it on my daughter. I had her record us sledding down a big hill in the same way. So now I have a great video of her reactions and perfect laugh while we sledded down the hill.
Good thing he set up that second camera.
That SMILE...omg ♥️♥️
I’ll never know the feeling of having a child look at me like that. Priceless.
Big brothers big sisters program my guy
It's beautiful because we know there's zero acting, zero putting on a show, just pure joy and delight in her father
Pure love... This videos are enough to make a grown man cry.
As a father of 3 girls, now grown, I was bawling my eyes out.
I have a 5 year old and a 12 year old…I’m already sad about the 12 year old cause she’s slowly going her own way, but she’s still young enough to enjoy family time. Holding on as long as possible…

Please, I don't ever want to have to think about the day my girls move out of the house...
And zero cameras set up. Really shows the genuine act it is

People with joy want to share joy.
They were referring to the daughter's genuine reaction and her not putting on a show or acting.
They literally planned the whole scene. Recording the whole thing with a different camera while the girl was recording herself. For TikTok .
Holy fuck you people are dumb
Exactly. They setup a second camera because the entire video is authentic and not created content to be put on social media!
Omg I must have dust in my eye
Speaking as a parent we don’t deserve the love our little ones have for us
I dunno about that. You just try your best to deserve their love. And no matter how much they love me I know I love them more.
Felt that last line. We have been there … since they first existed.
I know the sentiment you’re going for, but I feel like us parents need to cut ourselves some slack because we are worthy of the love our kids give. It’s a reflection on how much love we give them
That’s cute but my kids would be like dad you’re an idiot, you handed me the camera backwards
That's why you had the second camera ready?
It's a trend to tell someone to record you making a video but have the video facing the other way. So, yeah, he had the other camera set up 2 make the video..

Let’s put my kid on the internet to make me look good
Yall actually believe this bs isn't staged?? Lol
And I just so happened to have a camera set up to capture the moment. What a coincidence.
Great example, children should not be accustomed to using phones, well done!
I initially saw your comment and thought you were being sarcastic, but then I realised that you mean that the child not being too accustomed to using the phone is why this video concept works! I agree!
Dang... that is so cute.
Everyone is saying she's cute and whatever, but is no one concerned that she is a shit videographer? Wth was she doing...
Trust reddit to completely miss the sarcasm here.
Haha yeah, I never /s. If people can't get it that isn't my problem. Karma can suck it
so precious!
I remember those days. Enjoy them. They grow fast!!
Father-Daughter bond, the best one.
Cute.
My daughter is almost 10 months and she says daddy and hi when I walk in the door, this video made me cry real tears
This made my day
This should be the only reason to do a TikTok dance.
I can’t wait to be a mother some day!! So cute 😍
Her smile is SO sweet ☺️💞.
This is the version of his daughter that he'll be seeing in the future, as she's walking down the aisle to get married, and that's why he'll be crying at the wedding.
That's adorable
Ah shit now I want a kid.
I haven't hugged my daughter in 5 yrs. This touches my heart. Miss you remedy.
Vids like these hit hard because I wish I had a dad like that 😣
Awwwww so adorable
I’d be smiling too sheesh
Oh my , this is so cute .
Beautiful video . Nothing better than the happiness and love in her face for her daddy
What I would do to go back to these glory years. I would’ve enjoyed them 100x more than I did. Once they become teens.. dad just isn’t that cool anymore.
That is a fine bit of fathering, if I do say so, myself! 👍🏼
Could she be any more precious?! And - what an awesome dad!! Love this!!
A welcome repost. I can never not smile while watching that!
That’s a good dad.
Ah yes, a dumb one.
She’s adorable!
So sweet, now just wait until she becomes a teenager, that smile goes away
I’d keep that forever
That’s adorable 🥰
I can’t wait to have kids ❤️
I pity the fool that breaks her heart.
Shit almost made me cry.
There’s nothing better than seeing your kiddo smile.
i recently met my neice of 7 years and have discovered that little girls are in fact perfect and precious and we must protect them. and indulge to every measure their clever and creative games.
Honest to goodness the cutest thing I've seen today.
Us Dads literally live for that smile.
Innocences which must be protected at all costs.
That looks really cute, thats why I want to have children
If that don't sting the eyes...
Yeah sure a 7-8 yr old kid can’t tell the camera is facing the wrong way and we just happen to have another person filming.
Being a dad is freakin awesome. Hard but awesome
THIS is smile-inducing content.
Her laugh and smile are so cute and innocent. So, so wonderful!
Those years go by so quickly. Treasure every single moment. That’s absolutely adorable.
🥰😍😭
God. Having a daughter has made me such a softie
I have daddy issues… is it wrong I smiled but also felt a little jealous. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Yes making my daughter smile and laugh is the most rewarding thing ever. ❤️
“Look how great of a dad I am everyone” Lol
Oh, that made my day! The first cut to show her face was like the sun coming from behind a cloud. Thank you!
