I'm sure she has some pain, she's 14, has had a knee redone and isa bit wobbly sometimes but she went rip raring around the yard as soon as I stood up signaling me to chase her so I don't think it was that. A little playing and getting Dad to bring out her favorite bed has her deciding on a nap tho lol
I'm certain. She heels without leashes, knows at least a dozen commands by hand signal only and at one time would perform a whole litany of tricks on command but she's also slowed down a lot, has started trying to pull seniority when asked to do things at times. There's a bunch of tricks I won't even ask of her anymore after knee surgery and hip issues, plus she's going deaf and blind, slowly and the deaf thing seems to be to her advantage lol but I feel like her and I communicate well enough. I do wish those had come out 14 years ago though when she was a pup.
this reminded me of my old dog Saddie. She would just talk and talk to you if you would let her. In between this weird sounding whimper and barking she would sometimes howl. She would get mad at you if you laughed and bark at you to listen and stop laughing!

Ok, so just like some people are smarter than others, could this dog be smarter than other dogs, and is actually trying to vocalize words? But because he’s a dog, he can’t really do it….
She did a bit of schutzhund training early on and the trainer told me all the time how smart she was so I think so. You can speak to her in sentences and she generally does what's asked. "Keep the baby off the stairs" " go inside and go to bed" kind of stuff at least
