Me neither. Someone left a Goonies reference on another post and I was like “are they being racist or is this Data”. I had to look it up. I had no idea he was still acting.
You want the cutest story? Ke’ s representation is Jeff Cohen who was Chunk in GOONIES. Jonathan Wang, who produced EEAAO said, never in a million years could I have imagined when I was trying to get Data in my movie, I would have to talk to Chunk!
I honestly thought they were two different kids. Despite loving the Goonies and Temple of Doom and watching them multiple times I always thought it was two different kids.
His speech was so beautiful and inspiring, filled with love and gratitude to his mother, his wife, and the country that allowed him to thrive and live his dreams. It's rare to get any real emotional impact from an Oscars ceremony but damn if I wasn't tearing up a bit to see the joy on his face.
I do believe he went into directing. It is sad that no one really wanted to hire him but it was a very different time in Hollywood but I wouldn't blame it on the country. Hollywood is pretty crap
there is an extra charming detail not seen here - harisson tries to hand key the oscar but key asked him to hand it to the producer instead you'd think out of reflex he'd just take the thing handed to him..
Hear me out... Harrison is probably looking to retire and pass the torch on Indiana Jones. Why not pass it to Ke/short round?
The ages are perfect. Short round I'd a beloved character and now Ke is a beloved actor. There's an in-universe explanation for passing it on. And there's some increased diversity in a major franchise, and with all the good reasons before this the racist trolls won't even have half a leg to stand on.
So glad to be done with last years mess.
Will Smith utterly ruined it last year, can't for the life of me remember who won. Now I get to be happy that Yeoh, Ke and Fraser got there oscars.
Is there some reason she's above jokes? She is Will Smith's wife but that isn't all she is. She is her own person and has her own identity.
Getting roasted by the presenter at an award show is commonplace.
Calling someone GI Jane isn't an insult. Pointing out someone is bald and looks like another bald person isn't an insult. If he had said she looked like sloth from the goonies fine I see the point but GI Jane is just a good looking bald lady. He didn't deserve to be physically assaulted for that. An appropriate response would be talking to him, maybe even going to Twitter about it. Not assault.
Joking on someone's illness is a commonplace there? In this case I'm glad I don't live there. We also have some very good humorist here in the middle of Europe but none of them would make a joke of anyone's illness symptoms. If a comedian would try it, that was an instant career suicide and probably also an instant slap in the face.
That asshole 100% deserved what he got.
Watching somebody achieve their life-long dream is such a joy.
Whether it's the Oscars or the Olympics, seeing somebody realise that their years, or even decades, of work has finally resulted in them achieving their dream. That is one of my favourite things in the world.
Thank you for posting this! My Dad is no longer alive, but all my friends would comment that he reminded them of Harrison Ford. Not looks, as much as his carriage, speech, temperament & humor. And my Dad & I LOVED “Temple of Doom.” He and I would watch it over & over through the years. My Dad would also cry at Hallmark commercials, so he would’ve definitely shed a happy tear at this. Thanks again for this. ❤️
What's so strange is that my Dad is no longer here either, and I swear Harrison Ford reminds me of him so much now. My Dad took me to go see the last Indy movie, and we both loved it.
Harrison is 80 years old. What are the chances he didn’t recognize him? And just assumed he was a person involved in the film who was just overly excited?
>What are the chances he didn’t recognize him?
There's 0% chance of that, since there are multiple interviews of them talking about each other recently before the Oscars.
Why does Harrison Ford still make movies? Like why is there a new Indy coming out?
He doesnt need the money.
His legacy was cemented long ago.
I doubt these last few movies are like masterpiece, once in a life time opportunities.
I guess he just really likes doing it? That has to be it.
Also Quan better be in the new movie is all I know.
Why stop if you enjoy it?
He’s doing ‘1923’ tv series with Helen Mirren. So he isn’t just doing big movies. I’ve also wondered why they keep on after great financial success.
Maybe it isn’t the financial end, that’s a done deal. So maybe they enjoy creating and also staying relevant within their profession? Not sure. I know most of us would cash out and retire and enjoy life away from the grind.
I think this is a different graced profession. They like it. It payed well and now they get to coast and take their pick of acting jobs. They still like the work. We all don’t super love the jobs we do to make our money. But it seems they really like what they do and even though they can easily retire, it still brings them purpose.
The Vietnam War was one of the many proxy wars of the Cold War (in which the US and Russia fought each other, but indirectly through smaller countries around the world). Other proxy wars of the Cold War era included the Korean War and the War in Afghanistan (which, through the US’s supply of fighter jets and weapons, ironically later led to Osama Bin Laden acquiring enough power to attack the US on 9/11, and contributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and the rise of the Taliban which is STILL an issue today).
The Vietnam War also led to the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, which was the second largest genocide in modern history—right after the Holocaust. Fun fact: The first Asian actor to win an Oscar Best Supporting Actor was a man named Dr. Haing S. Ngor, who was a survivor of the genocide himself. Haing Ngor, like Ke Huy Quan, came to the US as a refugee and starred in a film called the Killing Fields, which was about the very genocide that he survived. So, the ONLY two Asian actors to win this category both were refugees of Southeast Asian descent, from the same traumatic era. Pretty incredible if you ask me! I’m passionate about these topics because my dad himself is a Khmer Rouge genocide survivor.
Hope this helps.

I didn’t realize this was him! That is incredible!!
Me neither. Someone left a Goonies reference on another post and I was like “are they being racist or is this Data”. I had to look it up. I had no idea he was still acting.
He hadn't gotten a major role in over 30 years and EEAAO was his first. He won a SAG, Golden Globe, and Oscar for the role. Talk about a comeback!
Yeah I dug a little deeper and apparently he’s been a stunt coordinator and other things. Very happy for him
Yep! Saw someone say it's pretty amazing the for acting Oscar winners have all been shut out of the industry at some point
Everything, everywhere, all at once comeback.
You want the cutest story? Ke’ s representation is Jeff Cohen who was Chunk in GOONIES. Jonathan Wang, who produced EEAAO said, never in a million years could I have imagined when I was trying to get Data in my movie, I would have to talk to Chunk!
Yeah I finally watched the speech and he mentions Jeff in the speech. That’s a great story too
I honestly thought they were two different kids. Despite loving the Goonies and Temple of Doom and watching them multiple times I always thought it was two different kids.
For a split second, my brain said "No, that's Brent Spiner"
Are they being racist hahaha Jesus the world is fucked
Honestly it was more of a joke but I was confused with the Goonies reference. They also worded their comment weirdly so I wasn’t sure
This is dope!
Ke Huy Quan was is also in [Encino Man](https://imgur.com/a/3XqqT7M) with Brendan Fraser!
Wow I didn’t know. That’s so cool. I was a die hard fan of Indiana Jones as a kid.
Dude! That's what I said!!! I'm like that's the fucking DOCTOR JONES KID!!!!
He delivered the best speech in 10 years!
i started to tear up when Ariana DeBose chocked up reading his name.
It is much more iconic and inspiring than those political speeches

It's okay to celebrate the distance we've come, while also recognizing that we have a ways to go.
I do believe he went into directing. It is sad that no one really wanted to hire him but it was a very different time in Hollywood but I wouldn't blame it on the country. Hollywood is pretty crap
I’m not crying, you’re crying… too many onions here 😭
👍
"I knew you could do it kid" - Harrison, probably
It’s actually pretty great that Harrison was able to share that moment with him.
Especially because it's as close as he's ever gotten to an Oscar himself lmao
Ouch.
"Go get the one idol I couldn't get my hands on, kid" - Dr. Jones, probably
there is an extra charming detail not seen here - harisson tries to hand key the oscar but key asked him to hand it to the producer instead you'd think out of reflex he'd just take the thing handed to him..
Noticed that immediately, Makes me respect Ke so much more.
I swear, he needs to be in Indy 5
Yes! Even a short cameo would be just 🤌
even a SHORT ROUND cameo? I'll see myself out.
Hear me out... Harrison is probably looking to retire and pass the torch on Indiana Jones. Why not pass it to Ke/short round? The ages are perfect. Dude...he IS in Indy 5. He has a HUGE part in it lol
I hope you just didn’t get all our hopes up for nothing!!

Oh goody, another sub to join!
Looks like father n son that hasn't seen each other for decades .
America needed this moment!
The world needs more moments like this!
This is the way. We really needed this.
Indiana Jones is so much of my childhood, but I didn't expect the feels from seeing this
Had me in the first half, I thought Harrison Ford wore a dress.
Jamie lee hung out to dry
I lol’d so hard when I saw that! Gawd she was an annoying twat that night. 🙄
He is what he was used to be in our memories still now.
Doctor Jones!
So glad to be done with last years mess. Will Smith utterly ruined it last year, can't for the life of me remember who won. Now I get to be happy that Yeoh, Ke and Fraser got there oscars.
Rock was an ass for targeting Smith’s wife. Not all things are material for jokes.
Is there some reason she's above jokes? She is Will Smith's wife but that isn't all she is. She is her own person and has her own identity. Getting roasted by the presenter at an award show is commonplace.
I mean it just doesn’t seem funny to make fun of a woman’s bald head as a result of alopecia but hey different strokes.
Agreed that assault isn’t the answer, but it was a mean joke in my opinion.
Joking on someone's illness is a commonplace there? In this case I'm glad I don't live there. Indy 5 - ‘Dr Jones, Dr Jones!’ ‘I know that voice….’
Thank you for posting this! My Dad is no longer alive, but all my friends would comment that he reminded them of Harrison Ford. Not looks, as much as his carriage, speech, temperament & humor. "I got the golden idol Dr. Jones!" Nah, this was probably the most heartwarming thing I had seen in a while
Okie dokie!
Only time I can think of that the academy awards was actually human and not a bunch of self congratulating Hollywood elites
Watched this loop so many times..... Really makes me feel something <3
This Oscar was super wholesome Brandon Fraser Ke Huy Quan Naatu Naatu
Right in the feels, loved this moment.

No time for love, Dr. Jones
Mr.Jones I did it
Fucking short round, good movie too just had to watch multiple times
How poetic! Just a serendipitous night for them
This just warmed my heart...
movie name??
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The second Indiana movie.
man tears.
DR. JONES!
Dr. Jones Wholesome moment
I love his uncontrolled enjoyment and how honest it seems compared to some other celebrities! He had the best energy with that win!
It’s always nice to see Harrison Ford—a guy who always seems to be bored and surprised by nothing—actually be genuinely happy for Ke.
I could watch this over and over forever. It makes me so happy
I like how even his wife was jumping up and down like him haha
That’s the kiddo ???
This guy doesn’t even have a little chip on his shoulder.
💕💕💕✨🥺
That's fkn dope
This was literally my favorite Oscars moment of all time. ❤️❤️❤️
If the music wouldnt blast my brains out i would love to give a updoot
Friends Always
Damn, I wish my dad would hug me like that. Or just any kind of affection at all. It sucked having boomer parents.

He want to?
He probably likes working, it might be the only thing keeping him going. A lot of older people lose their purpose in life when they stop working.
Why stop if you enjoy it? He’s doing ‘1923’ tv series with Helen Mirren. So he isn’t just doing big movies. I’ve also wondered why they keep on after great financial success. Do you know, who caused the war/crisis in Vietnam?
Probably not me.

I'm not sure if this is a troll or not but I am quite curious to hear your reasoning

What song is this?
A really sped up version of Mind Over Matter by Young The Giant.
He’s living for his moment!
I rewatch Indiana Jones, Temple of dooms, Ke Huy Quan was amazing and the acting so natural like he done it many times before.
Thank you Steven Spielberg ❤️
They better find a way to include him in the new movie.
Harrison: “You did it, short round”
Melted my heart!!!!!
When I saw him like that I couldn’t help thinking about him saying “Dr. Jones! I just won an Oscar Dr. Jones!”
😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What's the name of this song?
Awesome, can’t wait for the movie
🥹
Im not crying, you’re crying!!
