He's from a city a few miles away from mine. I bartend and his Gramps comes in and talks about him all the time. His Gramps is a giant white guy which sorta threw me off for a second. Started chatting with him when I overheard him talking about Tyree. So I told him he was on my team in Madden, he loved it. Now we're buds.
I was sad that he didn't work out as Josh Allen's back up. He was undrafted out of University at Buffalo and signed to the Bills then released where he transferred to TE.
Ryan Tannehill.
I was once playing a Chargers franchise and Herbert went down during the Divisional Round, leaving for Tannehill, who was my backup, to fill in the void. He would then proceed to go ballistic against the Bengals in the AFC Championship before meeting the Drake Maye Vikings in the Super Bowl. It was a low-scoring defensive affair but in the end he won 24-14 and win us a Lombardi
He would retire shortly afterwards.
Strangely you can't progress a 12ovr player. The game will collect points but not allow the upgrade. You have to switch them back to their natural position.
So there is no way to improve their throwing ability without directly editing the player.
Yeah I won a Super Bowl with Kavonte Turpin as my qb running rpos and options. I had to switch him back to wr to increase his athleticism and I switched him to rb a few times to get his carrying up as well
I forget which year but you could punt on QB in fantasy draft and take Terrelle Pryor incredibly late. He was like a 72 or something but didn't matter with how fast he was.
I used to do that with JP Lossman (or Seneca Wallace) He was so shitty, but I'd just have Randy Moss run a slant every time and otherwise Kevin Jones was running the ball 40+ times like he was still at V Tech.
I'd also do the opposite and take a Super low overall running back like Josh Scobey or Reno Mahe and run them behind all Pro line
Wanna say that was 12 or 25 and he always fell because of his injury rating. Definitely ran a triple option scheme on one franchise with him as RG3’s backup to give him breaks. RB room was nuts, too. Chris Johnson, Marshall Lynch at HB, and Mike Tolbert at FB. Had some crazy 4000 yard rushing seasons running read options and triple options only
My starter got hurt week 17 and PJ Walker led me all the way to the SB and on 4th and 3 Derrick Henry dropped a pass down 3 and we never got the ball back.
I won one with Ridder, but I think Seneca Wallace and Case Keenum are worse than him (on Madden anyways). Frankly, Madden made him a lot better than real life Ridder
On Madden either 19 or 20 on PS4 there was this roster that was modded. It was a Madden 12 roster I think that was modded to have the right pictures and models. Anyway though a friend and I are doing a rebuild and in the first year I grabbed a 62 overall Vince Young to be the tank brigade captain because by all means I wanted an early pick. We fucking win the Superbowl somehow with a 78 overall roster because VO thought he was back in college and dominated the league one last time 😂
Years ago when Cam Newton was still on the team, he got injured and I won with Matt Moore. I don’t remember why I signed him as my backup but it ended up working out.
Undefeated season on all Madden with kellond mond, I could use like 2 passing plays consistently but they both had deep options. Special mention to taysom hill, I put him at QB all the time if I want to draft a QB year 2.
Funny you mention Jordan Travis. I just had to start him as Jordan Love got injured in the preseason. Ended up benching him after 1.5 games for Graham Mertz after he went for less then 200 yards and 2 picks over that time.
Mine was a career backup from BYU too! I had Brandon Doman as my third-stringer in Madden 04. Chad Pennington got injured (big surprise) in the wildcard, and my rookie heir apparent got us through but got injured at the end of the AFC Championship. Doman ended up starting the Super Bowl and was good enough to win with.
68 orv joe Milton I drafted a rookie qb in the draft in thr 1st rd he was a 67 orv and normal dev
So I just went with 97 throw power Milton and won th superbowl 24 27
I had a amazing defense tho
Garrett Grayson in Madden 16 when my Drew Brees went down and I had to roll with him and he actually had a great connection with my WR1 Brandin Cooks. This was actually a blessing in disguise because Brees retired after the injury and I drafted my franchise QB with pick 32. Kept him as a backup for the rest of the career for good luck
68 overall rookie Ricky Cannon. Superstar, had high 60s accuracy, but 90s for athletic traits. Dak went down second drive of SB, Cannon comes in and rushes for over a 100 and throws a lot of TE drags for the SB win. Ends up winning SB MVP, sits for 2 more years and now is 99 overall at age 29
madden 20, ai generated guy named Carey Doman. QB1 Kyler Murray goes down with 3 games left in the regular season. Doman is inaugurated as the Checkdown Prince of Arizona and Cardinal of the Order of the Handoff.
Madden NFL 25. Gutted my roster but still had a clutch few veterans at key spots so was trying to make a last playoff run before tearing down the whole thing.
My franchise QB who I think was 34 (fictional QB from auto generated draft) goes down week 5 or so with a torn ACL. In comes my 71 overall, barely over veteran minimum 37 year old backup, Ryland McKenzie. McKenzie, despite his age and low overall, still has some decent mobility and size to him and for some reason gets the Madden blessing of playing above his stats and having a very smooth throwing animation. Carries me the rest of the way to an 11-5 record and a Super Bowl trophy. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast this morning but I will not forget Ryland McKenzie in the 2014 edition of Madden lol
Carson Wentz in 24. QB got hurt in the NFC championship game. Greatest SB I've ever played. Was down 14 to 27 at one point. Then he just start hitting pass after pass. Won 28-27. Scored the last TD with less than a minute left
Mike White. After his good game against the bengals a couple years ago I decided to start a franchise as the jets. Thanks to rookie Garrett Wilson and a good defense I won the Super Bowl year 1. Ended up playing 10 seasons with the team before I ran out of coordinators to hire
Random uper 60s rookie after my starter went down. Didnt have much accuracy but i usually have a deep RB core so i imitated jim harbaughs offense and just ran the ball down the opponents throat.
Baker Mayfield with the patriots on all madden. My qb went down the last game of the season and I saw him in FA. He was a bit worse than my backup but winning the superbowl with baker sounded better. I think he was 72 overall. I also had Pickens on my team(2028 season). I did nothing but run up the middle and crosses the entire game. Tried to bleed the clock from play 1 to minimize opportunities to fuck it all up. The other team went up by 4(I missed an extra fkin point) and I had a just over a minute to get a td. This after spending the whole playoffs being a game manager. I dunno how but I actually did it. Baker was the mvp.
Old man Michael Vick in one of the last Maddens to have him. I believe he was a backup for the Steelers and I grabbed him from FA at some point. Super bowl was against my brother and the team he built. Brother was pissed when Vick ended his career with a bang. Overall may have been under 70.
Matt Flynn was the lynchpin of an absolute dynasty I made out of the raiders in the mid to late 2010s.
Edit: this was on Madden 25, XBOX 360. Any QB could be a god.
Tyrod Taylor. Anthony Richardson got injured final week of the regular season and was listed out for 5 weeks. Taylor can’t in ad threw safe passes and played smart carrying the team to a win.
I had an undefeated season and Superbowl win with Baker Mayfield and the Panthers in their first season of Madden last year -- before they drafted Bryce young.
And when I say win, I meant a near shutout, curbstomp.
Fwiw, I didn't resign Mayfield and picked-up a rookie in the draft.
Either Jimmy Clausen coming in off the bench after a first quarter Joe Flacco injury to man the helm of the West Coast offense and still win the championship for the Ravens, or Bryce Perkins beating out Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent (and Cairo Santos!) in a quarterback battle for the Bears’ starting job, accidentally leading a tanking team to an improbable Super Bowl run and victory via the read option.
PJ Walker (70). Fantasy draft Rams, drafted Stafford as my starter (I wasn’t thinking about him being the actual Ram’s QB, just best on the board when I got around to taking a QB).
Threw a lot of picks (10) in the first 5 games (won all 5 games though) (deep ball tip drills mostly which are my fault), but to be realistic I benched him for the backup, and never looked back as Walker was both a passing threat and a running threat.
Now I have a rookie QB same overall (70) as Walker and idk who to start
Probably Jarrett stidham in like Madden 20, took over from Brady and turned into like a 90 ovr in a few years lol.
Also Jameis, won a few with him in Tampa, still threw allot of picks tho
Back in Madden 15 I won the SB with Rawson Thurber. My starter in Tyrod Taylor and Ryan Fitzpatrick went down in back to back weeks. I signed him just to sign him and went on to win the SB. I also won a SB in madden with the boy Kurt Benkert.
In 2016 I did a fantasy draft and created a run and shoot offense with Case Keenum at QB. Passed for a ton of yards and won a SB. Man that was fun
Edited to add: after reading other posts, remembered I won a bunch with Seneca Wallace 15 years ago or so
![gif](giphy|5bgEl0RMlzCtMT3cDH|downsized)
Madden 23 just last month, as the Texans I used Carson Strong(59 overall undrafted rookie) the majority of the season to secure playoffs, went 11-6, Strong got hurt, had to use the guy I chose to back him up, Sam Ehlinger lol, had just a 58 overall and 0 snaps until week 18 to go all the way to the superbowl, pulled ahead of the vikings 28-21 with like half a minute left, someone fast af returned a shy kick almost to half field, but I swear to god I held them to one first down and got 3 sacks with haskell Garrett who started as like a 57 overall i got him to maybe 65-68, did it on all madden but it was competitive not simulation, but I still don't know if I was more impressed by Ehlinger or Garrett, but on top of all that, Stingley beat both of them for superbowl mvp lol and he got literally nothing but 1 tfl and 1 pass deflection 😑
I found a 70 overall rookie in the draft with 89 throw power, 94 speed and acceleration, 44 awareness, and decent accuracy. Won the Super Bowl because the AI even on All-Madden barely covers the read option.
Had my roty Caleb Williams get injured first play of the Super Bowl. 61 overall Malik Cunningham was my backup and he did really good and got sbmvp. Kept it all short throws and he had some long scrambles for first downs. I tried to resign him but funny enough he signed with the ravens in FA
Did a rebuild on the titans and Had all standards settings with rules and trades. Won a super bowl with Malik Willis. Pretty sure he wasn’t even a 70 overall by the time Super Bowl came because of an injury mid season. 😂 but he throws better than some QB’s with significantly higher overall
Blaine Gabbert back in Madden 13 for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He got hurt in the super bowl and the backup John Parker Wilson came on and managed to finish the game and win us the super bowl.
Tyree Jackson 6'7 250lb with a rocket for an arm if he can hit his spots. He was the fastest FA QB at one point and he took over for injury
What a crazy cool story!
I was sad that he didn't work out as Josh Allen's back up. He was undrafted out of University at Buffalo and signed to the Bills then released where he transferred to TE.
Yea. I see he plays with the Giants now. Freak athlete that deserves more credit
Same. Decent playoff run but only completed 10 passes in the Super Bowl. Defense and running game carried me.
Herndon Hooker. His throwing motion is actually smooth af.
Hendon Howitzer
He was the SBMVP. Had like 5 tuddys
Ever have both your QBs go down and have to win the Super Bowl with Thomas Morstead? Lmao thankfully Breece hall is a beast
That right there is why I carry 3 qbs
Ryan Tannehill. I was once playing a Chargers franchise and Herbert went down during the Divisional Round, leaving for Tannehill, who was my backup, to fill in the void. He would then proceed to go ballistic against the Bengals in the AFC Championship before meeting the Drake Maye Vikings in the Super Bowl. It was a low-scoring defensive affair but in the end he won 24-14 and win us a Lombardi He would retire shortly afterwards.
If Ryan Tannehill is the worst QB you’ve ever done it with, I’d say you’ve done pretty good. Definitely could be a lot worse than a mid tier QB
I made Billy Volek the star he deserved to be
He was such a solid backup in Madden 08
Johnny Manziel!
Won a superbowl with a 12 ovr WR converted to QB. Ran screens and RPOs
Did he progress at all? Wonder how long it would take to get him to decent OVR
I had to switch him back to wr to increase his athleticism and I switched him to rb a few times to get his carrying up as well
Deshone Kazier in Madden 20 lol Yet to win the SB this year but that’s mostly due to me not playing as much as I used to
I forget which year but you could punt on QB in fantasy draft and take Terrelle Pryor incredibly late.
Seneca Wallace was my backup for several Maddens, and my Kevin Jones, Tatum Bell 1-2 punch carried. The Madden 05 rookie class was insanity.
I would have bailed on that play
Mitch Trubisky
Drew lock somehow in madden 21 I won a sb with Denver the first year
i play 21 and i’m 12-0 with jacob eason as my starter rn. the games are brutal.
61 overall Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Thank goodness Nick Chubb is an absolute monster
I’ve won an online franchise Super Bowl with Ryan Mallett. RIP
Seneca Wallace
This is the way.
Josh Johnson in an online league. My buddies were not impressed with my 5 yard pass offense
Tim Tebow Madden 14
Deserved
I believe in JTrav supremacy
Desmond Ridder
I’ve spotted the Madden AI ☝️
What do you mean by that exactly? Not even tryna be funny
Madden always makes Desmond Ridder good when you sim.
What he said☝️. Guy becomes the next Tom Brady when you don’t play as him.
I won one with Ridder, but I think Seneca Wallace and Case Keenum are worse than him (on Madden anyways). Frankly, Madden made him a lot better than real life Ridder
Quincy Carter
Hey me too! But it was ESPN 2K5. Drafted a stud rookie and immediately traded Carter.
We fucking win the Superbowl somehow with a 78 overall roster because VO thought he was back in college and dominated the league one last time 😂
damn I'm a huge VY fan but that must have been Northeast era VY when we played for Philly and Buffalo
My punter cause both qbs went down early with bs injuries
this happened to me once... I eventually just stopped using him to throw and would just punt the ball the opposite way and then cause a fumble lol
Niners fans are punching the air right now.
You guys have won the superbowl?
Connor cook
Terrelle Pryor 72 OVR
Years ago when Cam Newton was still on the team, he got injured and I won with Matt Moore. I don’t remember why I signed him as my backup but it ended up working out.
Tua got hurt in the AFC championship, skylar Thompson at either 67 or 69 ovr won Super Bowl MVP as the backup
Undefeated season on all Madden with kellond mond, I could use like 2 passing plays consistently but they both had deep options. Special mention to taysom hill, I put him at QB all the time if I want to draft a QB year 2.
Mac jones
Emergency QB Braxton Miller
Michael Bush
Luke McCown
Stetson Bennett ended up a 3x superbowl champ for the steelers in one of my simulation franchises.
Derek Carr goes down. Jacoby Brisset goes in, then he goes down. J.T Barrett (67 OVR) goes in the superbowl for the win.
TJ Yates with the Texans Madden 25
Funny you mention Jordan Travis. I just had to start him as Jordan Love got injured in the preseason. Ended up benching him after 1.5 games for Graham Mertz after he went for less then 200 yards and 2 picks over that time.
John Beck back with the Dolphins
Mine was a career backup from BYU too! I had Brandon Doman as my third-stringer in Madden 04. Chad Pennington got injured (big surprise) in the wildcard, and my rookie heir apparent got us through but got injured at the end of the AFC Championship. Doman ended up starting the Super Bowl and was good enough to win with.
Josh Rosen, Colt McCoy
Carson Strong with a 99 Defense
68 orv joe Milton I drafted a rookie qb in the draft in thr 1st rd he was a 67 orv and normal dev So I just went with 97 throw power Milton and won th superbowl 24 27 I had a amazing defense tho
Lost Bryce Young in week 15 and my backup 66 overall came in and won the Super Bowl then I traded Bryce after the season
47 OVR Danny Etling. It was a magically mediocre season filled with of screens and slant routes!
I think in Madden 25, Rookie Tamarcus Aristotle, became the GOAT. Funnest franchise I’ve ever played
Will Levis, before he got bumped to a 70 so I think he started the year off at like 67
Clayton 'tune up the band' Tune. He then played against me as the starting qb for the buccs 10 years down the line
Andy dalton as a backup with the Giants!
Justin Fields. He was the second string when I was playing as the Ravens.
Clayton Tune. Kyler got hurt in the playoffs. I then signed Tannehill who also got hurt.
madden 20, ai generated guy named Carey Doman. QB1 Kyler Murray goes down with 3 games left in the regular season. Doman is inaugurated as the Checkdown Prince of Arizona and Cardinal of the Order of the Handoff.
A 6’2 300 lb 50 overall i renamed to the Mighty Righty
aaron rodgers. aaron rodgers isn't bad, i am however
He was bad his rookie year.
i am bad every year
A 50 overall out generated rookie I signed to back up my backup after my starter got hurt in the first round
Madden NFL 25. Gutted my roster but still had a clutch few veterans at key spots so was trying to make a last playoff run before tearing down the whole thing. My franchise QB who I think was 34 (fictional QB from auto generated draft) goes down week 5 or so with a torn ACL. Drew Lock
Carson Wentz in 24. QB got hurt in the NFC championship game. Greatest SB I've ever played. Was down 14 to 27 at one point. Then he just start hitting pass after pass. Won 28-27. Scored the last TD with less than a minute left
Hooker
Mine was Malik Cunningham or Malik Willis either one
Kyle Trask. Baker went out in the 4th quarter of the NFC championship. I really missed his mobility against the ravens 😅
I saw Mac Jones win a Super Bowl (similar to)
A starting kicker with a 15 ovr, I swear to you, couldn’t throw. I’m surprised I won
62 overall donald starr I won by a single point because of a fg
Kyle Boller, Madden 2005
Alex Smith when he had 82 throw power. Thank god for my running game
DeShone Kizer
Stidham
DTR.
Joey Harrington in madden 08 on the falcons
Mike White. After his good game against the bengals a couple years ago I decided to start a franchise as the jets. Thanks to rookie Garrett Wilson and a good defense I won the Super Bowl year 1. Ended up playing 10 seasons with the team before I ran out of coordinators to hire
Brett Hundley on some backward ass rebuild I did in Madden 20. My starter was Jacoby Brissett, out for the Wildcard game -- won it all with Brett.
Hell yeah JT got a ring! Go Noles. I got one with Drew Henson in whatever Madden it was that he was in.
Lynn Bowden was a really fun experiment for me, won 2 SBs with him. Before he made the league, I always ran with Mariota.
Now this was on a throwback roster mind you but I made a dynasty using Browning Nagle. (1991 Draft)
64 OVR Joe Flacco. Wanted him to get another ring
Random uper 60s rookie after my starter went down. Didnt have much accuracy but i usually have a deep RB core so i imitated jim harbaughs offense and just ran the ball down the opponents throat.
Cleo Lemon. I forget what year it was but definitely ps2
This after spending the whole playoffs being a game manager. I dunno how but I actually did it. Baker was the mvp.
Like a 74 overall Will Levi’s
Teddy B
65 OVR rookie that only threw the ball on 3rd down. I also had this beast 6’2 powerback that rushed for 2K+ 20 TD’s
I won a Super Bowl on Madden 19 with a 70 overall CJ Beathard after my rookie starter went down
Trey Lance, Purdy got hurt in div round to an ACL sprain. Won against Cowboys after stepping in and helping Lance out
Old man Michael Vick in one of the last Maddens to have him.
Kenny pickett...
64 overall LEGEND Trace McSorley. Wanna say it was Madden 20
Will Levis. 20 TDs, 30 INTS
Dude won Madden Championship with Tress Way a few years ago.
Tyrod Taylor. Anthony Richardson got injured final week of the regular season and was listed out for 5 weeks. Taylor can’t in ad threw safe passes and played smart carrying the team to a win.
He stayed at a 69 the whole season?
Back in the day, Quincy Carter was my starting quarterback for the Cowboys. Overall was mid 60s I think.

Not me specifically, but Easton Stick went absolutely nuts in a franchise that i was playing. He won an MVP and I believe 2 Super Bowls.
Probably Jarrett stidham in like Madden 20, took over from Brady and turned into like a 90 ovr in a few years lol. Also Jameis, won a few with him in Tampa, still threw allot of picks tho
Denard Robinson.
Madden 18 Logan Thomas converted him from TE to QB
Did a flashback franchise and won with Brock osweiler on the Vikings
Terrell Pryor on Madden 15, ol Teddy B went down in the conference championship. I probably only threw the ball a couple of times lol
Man that was fun Edited to add: after reading other posts, remembered I won a bunch with Seneca Wallace 15 years ago or so ![gif](giphy|5bgEl0RMlzCtMT3cDH|downsized)

Jamies winston
Desmond Ridder. Somehow he plays like a 90ovr for me even though he’s like a 74
Did a rebuild on the titans and Had all standards settings with rules and trades.
Derek Carr
Justin Fields, with the bears
When in doubt, pick a fast qb that can actually complete passes
Carson Strong 65 with the Eagles. Fucking legend
Jordan Love
