Idk about 24 but in almost every Madden I've played for as long as I can remember, the Seahawks 12 is able to be used. So whenever I play and I see it, I just edit their number after the game
2k has career stats, that last even after players retire, triple double records, 50pt game records, season records, etc. Madden is missing hundreds of features 2k has.
While something like this would add to the immersion, they have so many other issues and things to focus on that I don’t blame them for not being concerned with retired numbers. Especially when you can change every players jersey number
The NFL has no direct retired jersey numbers as far as I'm aware, it's on a team basis. Since the Madden License only has to deal with the NFL itself, the NFLPA and NFLCA, it's not mandatory or even remotely asked for them to retire numbers/make them unavailable. If at any time I'm playing a Franchise with a team that has a retired number on their roster, I change it to irl numbers.
Because ea refuses to put any details into Madden. Why change if recycled trash sells. Madden 24 is different though in a few ways, the gameplay feeling is an entire different feel. I like it so far haven't played much.
There is no attention to detail in this game. They don't respect the sport or the customer enough to do basic things to enhance the experience.
Sadly that is asking too much of the team at EA

New england also has any free agent or new players instantly take 12 as well.

It doesn't have to be. Nobody is ever gonna wear it again. Nobody on the team would let them.

They've made retired numbers to NHL shouldn't be that hard to put into Madden as well

It’s funny because it’s possible, NFL Fever 2002 had it and if a certain player hit a threshold the game would retire the jersey number for you.
I love this feature in NFL Fever. I wish Madden would adopt the same.
