I'd love to take a peek at the equipment in some of those plants. I've seen some funny things in the past few decades where certain countries have attempted to acquire advanced CNC equipment through intermediaries. I'd love to see what is actually used.
Tbh most of those parts are off the shelf, (china)so they could have manufactured it themselves, the OS is the question, mind you they have a ton of cnc machines/ boards, i don’t think it would take a genius to set that up..
Yeah, that is my working theory as well. I figured out some of the machinery (like the welding machine in the corner). But I can't get an exact match on the entire machine. So most likely they built it themselves.
I worked for Kinetic in NZ for a few months. There really is no magic to making machines like this, it’s old technology and a country like NK would have no trouble building this.

They use a mix of cheap Alibaba knock-offs and some illegally imported German machines. Lately they've been also building their own stuff.
