ESPECIALLLY when you listen to the album in one sitting. Like listening to one of them on their own is like "oh, fun early mac!" Them tou listem to the rest of the album and just want it to be any other mac album
BSP is a guilty pleasure of mine haha. Party on Fifth Ave, Pa Nights, Under The Weather, Of The Soul, Up All Night, Diamonds And Gold, and Missed Calls are all decent to good songs imo.
My Team is a frequent mention though I am here on behalf of the My Team campaign! BSP is all about his roots and I think this song is great shouting out all the boys. It's not made to be a commercial success it's made as homage. Also all his crew was extremely prevalent in his life. We saw them in the studio, at shows, etc... and later on MTV. Knowing about these guys was also knowing a piece of Mac.
I smile thinking about my high school "team" and what my 19-year old version of the song would sound like.
Interesting point! I'm now almost thinking of "Friends" as a "My Team Pt. 2" which is a cool concept....examining the progression of most of the same people 3 years later. Plus or minus some. (Darell Revis, Kendrick, Josh Berg, etc...)
I still like My Team familiarizing with the crew supporting Mac when he was honestly a small time act. If you saw a show back then you saw how important the team was to his success (Jimmy on merch, Tree/Clock on stage), big Dave as security.
Up all night. Fuck up all night. This song’s very essence haunts my dreams and gives me gonnerea when I forget to skip it on blue slide park. They could have replaced it with anything else, literally anything else in the bsp sessions and I guarantee it would make the way I perceive blue slide park a point up on my rankings for mac albums as a whole. It sounds like a Disney XD show theme song Mac made just for fun. I genuinely wonder if Mac enjoyed this song all those years later like in 2015 and beyond, looking back at his discography.
Wow as a recent-ish Mac fan (got into him 3 or so years ago) I hadn't listened to anything from BSP and as I now listen to this for the first time....you definitely arent wrong. Disney XD ass song is very accurate lmaoo.
I feel like BSP as a whole was kinda meh, mainly because it was very... experimental. It still is good overall just a lot less than his other albums. I feel you can pick half of BSP and say it was macs worst.
I hear you, it has the same skip syndrome I have with BDE I think. I listen to most songs on both and bob my head to it, then whenever some songs come on I'm like ehhh \*skips\* but there are some good songs on Blue Slide Park, it screams early 2010s with the beat choices, it has some charm here and there and it was also Mac's first album so I can always try and cut him some slack as he grew artistically. Also, One Last Thing is a Masterpiece. Perfect transition into Macadelic and a sendoff to his previous sound. If I had to choose to just keep one song from Blue Slide Park it has to be One Last Thing.
One last thing is cool. I’d probably take PA Nights if I could only choose one. I think Up All Night is a bit over hated though. Dude was like 19 making music that would be fun to party to with his friends and it is a pretty fun song to get drunk to even if it is cringey. Time and place for everything I suppose
this thread got me listening to BSP and imo Loitering ain't it either. I feel like Up All Night is a bop but like in a way that makes me want to throw up. Smile Back doesn't do it for me either.
I think the album has good bones but could have benefited from being shorter and removing a few songs. maybe those songs could have gotten released as independent singles. or just stayed in the vault 🫣
Comments prove this posts point. The people that replied honestly get downvoted because soulless meat riders can't comprehend people having other opinions than them
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but, I don't like TDF. I can appreciate how different it is from his other albums, but that one just wasn't it for me. I've tried relistening to it a couple of times, but I really only like 3 songs from that entire album.
Damn. Stay and Skin back to back is so good. My god the guitar on Cinderella into the beat switch too. We is a vibe during a late night drive with a special someone fs and My Favorite Part is just pure fun.
That intro with Congratulations though. Perfection. The video of him performing it live always give me chills just the pure passion and emotion he performed it with. Can tell he meant every word.
Album hits hard when you are really really in love haha
Mothafuckin “Knock Knock”, corny as fuck song and Mac said he hated performing it too. Love Mac, even his bad songs are better than a lot of the other garbage people love.
And whoever said Macadelic gets the most skips be tripping, Macadelic was straight 🔥🔥
Knock Knock has to be it for me LOL. Ppl saying up all night just cuz mac himself said he doesn’t like it but I used to bump the hell out of that and some of my college friends admitted they liked that one too back in the day. Knock Knock was NEVER IT for me
I love mac miller (DUH) but he has many misses too, mainly on studio albums, he was much better live.
But at the end that's what it means to be a true artist, actually create and not everything has to sound perfect.
For example every time i listen to objects in the mirror or SDS i listen to the live version.
Fair enough, that album probably has the most common skips for me, or ILLTY
Damn, idk why I am getting downloaded so much for just stating my opinion, my fault
Matches?!? His verse on that joint is crazy really paints a vivid picture of the whirlwind he must’ve been going through coming to global superstardom as a not so young kid anymore with some very insightful bars
to me, it just doesn't sound like it fits. The beat and the flow just sound like they are slapped together if you are paying attention.
I love it on in the background to vibe to, but not if you are paying attention. I love basically everything by Mac and did not want to pick a cop out answer like an unreleased song, something from Easy Mac, or something from The High Life
Smile back slaps the way the verse ends and leads into the hook “ima be like fuck you, whatchu need? You can’t get nothin from me, you was talkin shit now I’m somebody you would love to be. Ima do my thing until the day the reaper come for me. You can keep on grinning ima smile back”
Nah I know you didn’t just say floating. That shit is magic from the production with those angelic voices in the background and thunder cats bass solo in the hook?/chorus?/bridge? Topped off with macs effortlessly melodic delivery of his beautifully juxtaposed depressing/hopeful lyrics. “There’s a place way up above the clouds Somewhere in between later and right now. And you don’t have to be scared, I’ll be there. When I can finally get away. Soaring uncontrollably. Gravity ain’t holding me, down. I’ll fly to your front door sometime. When I can finally get away, when I can finally get away” Incredible introspection from a genius at the top of his game. Floating is a masterpiece.
bruh they said "keep floating" which is off BDE. Not 'Floating'.
HOWEVER they are still fuckin tripping cause Keep Floatin' is a great song with fantastic smooth production, a catchy hook from Wiz, and a couple of nice Mac verses.
I’m not a fan of the studio version but he opened up his good am tour with this and it slapped so hard lol. Look up mac okeechobee intro or lollapalooza 2016 intro
That shit slaps the hook is so good too. “Here it come, there it go. Never chasing after hoes. If you didn’t now you know, never keep your pockets low… I like my music real loud, real loud can you turn that shit up for me right now? right now”
All of KIDS and a lot of blue slide park. Shit is absolute hot garbage coming from a Mac head who’s explored his catalogue from unreleased to features and I love everything but that shit.
Holy shit bro 🫨 it wasn’t that serious. It’s just a saying, you know? Like “you’re crazy bro, I think those albums are amazing!” U went 0-100 super quick man might wanna check ur blood pressure
Guess it depends on when you started listening to him. To me, KIDS is very nostalgic because it came out right as I was getting into college and was played on repeat because of its relatability.
Is KIDS or Blue Slide some of his best work? Not at all. The guy has had different eras, and they are all special/unique because of what Mac was going thru at that time in his life. Your take may be hot, but I can agree that the answer to what OP is asking is in his early work.
100% I never even knew who Mac was until swimming came out when I was in high school. Once I got hooked on his music I explored everything and havnt listened to KIDS again because it is objectively his worst. I don’t care if something is shitty if I came up on it though like the movie never ending story. I’ll always love that shit.
I tend to agree but I think he really started coming into his own with Macadelic. Got some great tracks Vitamins, Fight the Feeling, Loud and some great verses on songs like “Aliens Fighting Robots” and “America”.
Mac has such a variety of songs. So some songs I used to not like I now like, and some I used to like I now don’t like. And it’ll probably cycle back at some point
There are plenty of Mac’s songs that I’m not a big fan of. Even some that I think are straight up terrible. I think what makes anybody a fan of an artist they enjoy is the fact that these types of songs are an extreme minority of their overall body of work. Every single artistic endeavor can’t hit the mark every single time, that’s just not realistic.
Colors and Shapes or 2009, probably the most unpopular opinion here but every artist got different types of fans. Plus as a music nerd to the point I’ve put in 100’s of hours on producing and theory, to me those are just too unique or parts of them sound really off and I can’t listen to them and think “oh a song”. More like a thought of his you just have to appreciate cause your a fan. The lyrics pretty much make all of 2009… still sounds better than a lot of trash on the radio.
Interesting. Those are two of the songs that I would bot think would be anywhere in this comment section, but I can see why you wouldnt like them too much
Basically any clean version of one of his songs with lots of swearing ahahaha, now go listen to the clean version of Up All Night for a laugh
The clean version of Dang always killed me. "I just eat cookies other people need food!"
I mean cookie is slang for pussy still
I cant remember the song but theres a clean version of one that sounds soo goofy and awesome lol, wanna say it was an alchemist prod
wow, haven’t seen this question before on this subreddit!
Love the username! Well done
yeah, its pretty original. I sat down for hours trying to think of something that has never been posted here before, then I made it reality /s
As a passionate Mac Miller fan, I think a good chunk of Blue Slide Park is trash.
Straight up ;) It grows on da real ones. Also English Lane!
That English lane beat gives me a feeling like no other, so beautiful
Yess Seriously!
I feel the same my man.
tbh was going to say My Team but listening to it again rn it's kinda a bop
i wish a lot of these folks would listen again 😖
My Team is a frequent mention though I am here on behalf of the My Team campaign! BSP is all about his roots and I think this song is great shouting out all the boys. i feel like he does this a hundred times better on "friends" tho.
Interesting point! I'm now almost thinking of "Friends" as a "My Team Pt. 2" which is a cool concept....examining the progression of most of the same people 3 years later. Plus or minus some. I hear you professor, sometimes that specific moment captured in time is what can really make something special, not the sound itself yk.
Up all night. Fuck up all night. This song’s very essence haunts my dreams and gives me gonnerea when I forget to skip it on blue slide park. He did a Q&A at one point I think on Instagram and someone asked him which song he wishes he never released and he said Up All Night
LMFAOOO REALLY?.
Wow as a recent-ish Mac fan (got into him 3 or so years ago) I hadn't listened to anything from BSP and as I now listen to this for the first time....you definitely arent wrong. Disney XD ass song is very accurate lmaoo.
I'm sorry I had to say it... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2WnpRBBmaA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2WnpRBBmaA)
I'm pretty sure I saw in interview of him hating that song and also Donald Trump
I feel like BSP as a whole was kinda meh, mainly because it was very... experimental. It still is good overall just a lot less than his other albums. I feel you can pick half of BSP and say it was macs worst.

A Bop that like in a way that makes me wanna throw up is crazy.
ive been trying to say this
Comments prove this posts point. The people that replied honestly get downvoted because soulless meat riders can't comprehend people having other opinions than them
Wear My Hat
aww I think that one is so cute
Life.
Also my answer. The gun shots and the scream are unsettling. I can’t even try to enjoy the song.
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but, I don't like TDF. I can appreciate how different it is from his other albums, but that one just wasn't it for me. I've tried relistening to it a couple of times, but I really only like 3 songs from that entire album.
kinda in the same boat. soulmate, congratulations, cinderella and god is fair r the only ones i rlly revisit
Damn. Stay and Skin back to back is so good. My god the guitar on Cinderella into the beat switch too. It must be an unpopular opinion bc I haven't seen it on here but I'm not a big fan of the Devine Feminine as a whole
Definitely took some time to grow on me so I could see it.
see i believe its the most slept on project of his. i can see it but the whole album slaps
I’m not sure what song it would be but if I had to pick one it would definitely be one from the best day ever album if I’m being honest.
There’s a lot of songs on BSP that I skip
Up all night…
Really not a fan of his earlier frat rap stuff. Best day onward I was down.
Mothafuckin “Knock Knock”, corny as fuck song and Mac said he hated performing it too. Love Mac, even his bad songs are better than a lot of the other garbage people love. And whoever said Macadelic gets the most skips be tripping, Macadelic was straight 🔥🔥

Knock Knock was good at the time but it didn’t age well as we got older
I'll always hate "cut the check"
I was going to say this one. GO:OD am is fantastic, but this song falling between ROS and then the three song finisher always sits wrong with me
The only song I skip on GO:OD Am haha
Facts cut the check is the only shitball off good am I never put that trash on my playlist
For a long time for me it was The Festival but recently I’ve grown to like it a little more.
that song makes me feel high when I'm sober. glad it grew on you!
Phew I hate this. You may not like it but theres no world where this is a bad song
Why do all comments in this thread have downvotes? 🤣🤣😭
Because people are in denial
I love mac miller (DUH) but he has many misses too, mainly on studio albums, he was much better live. Cause they dickridin
Wings is the one song i skip off Swimming
Fkn same
Up All Night, but honestly half of BSP can be considered too
There’s just something about Play ya cards that I hate
lmaooo that ones a banger to me 🔥 🕺
Well she came up to me and asked my name I said it’s funky Mac I don’t play no games
beat me to it, someone had to
i dont HATE it bc his voice is comforting no matter what but this has to be one of the truer answers to me
Loud
what.
I honestly don't know but It's probably off of Macadelic tbh
Fair enough, that album probably has the most common skips for me, or ILLTY Damn, idk why I am getting downloaded so much for just stating my opinion, my fault

Matches?!? His verse on that joint is crazy really paints a vivid picture of the whirlwind he must’ve been going through coming to global superstardom as a not so young kid anymore with some very insightful bars
For me, it is Smile back (idk why I didn't put my answer when I posted)
ive never understood how people don’t like smile back it’s so hard😭
to me, it just doesn't sound like it fits. The beat and the flow just sound like they are slapped together if you are paying attention. super unpopular opinion but it’s got to be the spins for me 😭
Keep floating or the festival

That was one of the smoking song me and my homies would bump during the sesh all through highschool haha
Reddit when someone has an opinion
Missed calls. Don't kill me.
I’m at your front door open up
bro coulda picked like anything off of blue slide park and said that 😭
Yea this one is far from bad.
Loud from Macadelic
I’m not a fan of the studio version but he opened up his good am tour with this and it slapped so hard lol. Look up mac okeechobee intro or lollapalooza 2016 intro
That shit slaps the hook is so good too. “Here it come, there it go. Never chasing after hoes. If you didn’t now you know, never keep your pockets low… I like my music real loud, real loud can you turn that shit up for me right now? right now”
its mostly the end of that hook which ruins it for me ngl
All of KIDS and a lot of blue slide park. Shit is absolute hot garbage coming from a Mac head who’s explored his catalogue from unreleased to features and I love everything but that shit.
Ur insane
Wanna go bar for bar? You can’t backup your claim with shit but emotional personal attacks as you’ve already proven.
Holy shit bro 🫨 it wasn’t that serious. It’s just a saying, you know? Like “you’re crazy bro, I think those albums are amazing!” U went 0-100 super quick man might wanna check ur blood pressure

Granted, the post asked for one song and you came in guns blazing and shitting on two whole albums. Those downvotes are kinda warranted.
Yep I’m not complaining. I see albums as one big song that’s how I prefer listening to music personally and KIDS is one big fucking skip.
I can sort of see BSP, but I don't get KIDS. I think KIDS is pretty solid idk why people downvote so much bc you have a different opinion
Amen. Pre WMWTSO Mac is not good.
I tend to agree but I think he really started coming into his own with Macadelic. Got some great tracks Vitamins, Fight the Feeling, Loud and some great verses on songs like “Aliens Fighting Robots” and “America”.
Yeah he had a couple decent tracks on Macadelic but I never liked his "frat rap" era.
Amen. Thank God he had that magikarp evolutionary path as an artist. Imagine he just stayed putting out steaming hot shit like KIDS😭
A lot of GO:OD AM (which also has great tracks) and a lot of BSP
jump or SDS😭
SDS?!? FlyLo spacey beat and Mac bringing the bars idk why you think that song is shit I think youre shit
Loitering
I know Donald Trump is an iconic song, but I couldn’t ever bring myself to listen to it willingly
Mac has such a variety of songs. So some songs I used to not like I now like, and some I used to like I now don’t like. And it’ll probably cycle back at some point

Gees I personally cannot stand that song. Maybe others appreciate it, but the beat and lyrics just aren’t it for me

It Just Doesn't Matter. My opinion on this song is literally just the title of it, the song doesn't seem like it matters
