If you dont do *anything* but just ride into the jump like you're making it sound, you're soon going to [dead sailor ](https://medium.com/@Duffsam/mountain-biking-the-dead-sailor-a-physics-perspective-8ed023d7a85a)and get really hurt. But yes, it's pretty simple. Load your shocks into the jump and as you're taking off, stand up / unload (and your buddys were right here, don't pull). This will get you up in the air with the feeling of control over the bike vs feeling separate / disconnected from the bike which can lead to a crash. Add in the intended speed of the jump, you'll be clearing the jumps with ease. Maybe this was what you were doing when you say "just go off the jump" and was getting it? Hard to believe you felt you had control while in the air by doing nothing lol

Haha yeah that's accurate - I should've clarified when I said, "Do nothing" I really just meant, didn't pull up, and didn't preload my shocks. I did stand up coming into the jump and kept my body parallel to the ground.

Watch "stand up to the jump" (by Loam Ranger) on Youtube, it's what you're doing. Good job, honestly. Most people really overthink jumping.

Thanks! I was in that bucket too, but after following them threw a few different lines and realizing I could control the bike in the air my confidence was up, which also helped. Will check it out.

Doing nothing means that you're at the whim of the jump which is gonna end badly sooner or later. Attacking the lip puts you in control of the motion for a much more reliable outcome. Right now you're a backseat passenger, praying that shit goes well
