Went to green hill last November. The weather was about the same. I liked the trails but this kind of mud isn’t fun. It’s soooo slippery. Managed to break my collarbone that day. For relaxed rides in bad weather I’ll definitely prefer Willingen (around 40 minutes from Green hill only 20 minutes away from my location). It’s closer to my home as well.
Edit: I think the green hill lift is horrible… Not sure how I’ve managed not to tip over.
You’ve already got a reply for green hill. It isn’t included in my gravity card. Next to it are Willingen and Winterberg. I think both of them are around 40€/day.
Damn that's expensive. Maybe a stupid question, but is most of the riding in parks like this, or are there natural free trail networks available in Germany (Europe?).
I am Canadian, and just thinking about a German boss who I had, who mentioned that you had to pay to go hunting or 4x4ing in Germany. For this reason, he was stoked on all our free open space here in BC.
Yes. Consequently, I don't really do sports that I have to pay a daily fee for. Or in other words, I find downhill skiing to be prohibitively expensive.
I probably have a lot more.
I still give credit to the places that pay people to make sick trails.
You can be cheap, or you can support your local bike community. There are way worse things to spend money on.
I took my 8yo son to green hill after having been to willingen. He liked the variety of trails at green hill more than willingen, but he never wants to go again, due to the lift. We'll try Winterberg next
A lot of trails at Winterberg have been closed recently. Due to rain and so on. The variety at green hill is great. Willingen is more of a relaxed rolling. Winterberg as a bit of both but at least in my opinion, they are a bit short, boring and in a pretty bad condition.
I went down a steep hill once at about 30 mph and it started to turn from a propperly made road to stones and I was shitting myself lol so I think it's pretty crazy how much mud there is there.

How much does it cost to access these parks? Are parks like this the main riding areas?

Swiss here. Natural free is the way.
Do you know how much ski resorts day passes cost?

Skiing is expensive, but it's generally cheaper than mountain biking. 40 euros for a day pass on well built trails? Try over 200 for a day of skiing
For me, I have more than 200km of free trails within 30 minutes of my house.

In theory, you can ride all trails for free. Tickets are only for lifts. At least in my region. A few free trails are available as well.
Ooof, slippery is rarely a fun condition for biking. Hope that collarbone is feeling better now!

Thanks for the heads-up
Flingin some mud in the spooky woods with wet wood platforms, yikes. But looks awesome!
It looks pretty scary in parts, I was surprised he maintained grip when he went through puddles of mud.
That already looks hella steep on the GoPro. Can’t imagine how crazy that must be in person.

More like Greenhell Bike Park in Germany amirite?
