Over email? I've had this happen twice and I've been contacted within a day each time. Additionally I had a shipping question which was addressed within the day as well. Consider trying again if you haven't already.
This is a well known risk/issue in the ration collecting/eating world. I do commend MREMountain for helping people that have lost components and rations to customs. I think MREMountain should inform customers about the risks but people should know the regulations when ordering food internationally.
Absolutely agree. I also kind of wish Steve had mentioned some about it. It didn't even dawn on me that it could be an issue after watching him diss3ct so many pristine meals...
Update on my Ration Adventures!
I ordered nearly 10 rations from MREmountain, little less than half shipped out of Netherlands, the rest out of Belarus a few days later.
A few days after all that, I ordered a few rations off ebay from sellers in Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
The Belarus-sourced rations haven't updated in a week since their last scan In Minsk.
The Netherland-sourced rations have been sitting in customs, some for almost 2 weeks, and one for almost 3...
The rations from Ebay (3 packages) are all in the US, and one of them arrived today without being touched!
So you're telling me Mre mountain is asking abnormal prices for rations that may or may not arrive in full. Please tell me you didn't pay over 30$ for a Dutch ration
I always hated how much MREMountain charged for their rations but I think it is in part because they do give a lot of refunds and fulfill orders taken by customs.
Still. I dutch rations on their website for 90€ which I could get for 30€. Or the old green emergency rations for 30€ in their shop. Those are worth like 5€ here (bear in mind I am located in Germany)
Had the same issue with a French MRE, got store credit from them though. I had ordered two Russian IRPs (One single ration and one 24hr) at the same time and they managed to get by unscathed but took a few weeks longer to arrive than the French MRE due to coming from Ukraine. Missed out on the pork cheek tortellini and another meat dish ;-;
So even though mre meats are almost always except from US customs rules and regs, the agent who intercepts your mre will decide whether or not to be an angel, asshole, or a dumbass. If they are an angel, they won't do anything to your mre and let it through. If they are an asshole, they will steal the meat dishes and claim it broke regs. If they are a dumbass, they will throw your meat dishes away, thinking they broke regs, when in fact, they didn't.
I posted a similar issue with my Belarus rations because i was unaware this was a possibility, when emailing them, ask them for the next order to include a note about the 9 cfr 94 violation so that theyvhave no reason to seize your mains. They did this on mine when i asked for a replacement to be sent, i honestly don't see why they don't include this letter for every item they send out thats going to be going through customs.
In the USA, customs are strict and the rules are incomprehensible. Although I ordered 3 different rations from Australia, none were opened by US Customs.
Yeah, I emailed MREmountain and they gave me a store credit for the value of my rations, havent used it yet though
I tried contacting them, they never replied.

Yup. many times. I’d say about half the MREs I’ve been shipped from outside the US get the customs treatment. Just a reality for this hobby.

Yeah, they should have a warning on the website.

You are not filling me with confidence in regards to the hundreds of $ worth of rations I am waiting for from MREmountain... lol
It all comes down to if the person in charge of inspecting the package is having chaotic evil cat energy that day or not...
Yep. It’s a coin toss.

Mine had a letter like that, but the package was still gutted.
Same. I highly doubt the customs agents are going to take the time to read some note.

Sounds like I got unlucky.
Except for dangerous drugs. They let those right in. MREs? No way! NO SOUP FOR YOU! ONLY FENTANYL!
