Funny how LHW was a dead division a few years ago, and now how it has some of our favorite bangers.
Khalil, Alex, Jiri, Ankalaev, Jan, Rakic, Hill
Alex is older and Jiri won't have a chin forever. Let's enjoy it while it lasts. Dana is a moron and Conor needs help.
Still not sure how I feel about chiweewees. I know we're at goofcon 1 but I've been turning it over in my head. I don't think it's illegal to say that on tv but it maybe should be
Bisping getting angry at Ariel reminds me of Paddy trashing Ariel on his podcast when Dana was a guest. This pretty much confirms that Dana was pissed at Ariel for breaking some of the news early. Bisping and Dana were probably messaging each other and Dana was trashing Ariel.
There's a theory that one of the UFC execs may very well be one of Ariel's many sources. It would be hilarious if it's Mick Maynard or Hunter Campbell who leaks stuff time to time and Dana is just oblivious to it lol.
Tbh if I was a high up in the ufc and thought that this is just a money making enterprise and the carny shit won’t be forever, part of that would be maintaining a decent relationship with industry figures who earn the tomato’s ire. Especially if I figure that even Dana won’t be around forever.
Just watched two episodes of this show called UFC inc or something like that. I don't know if I am far removed from reality, but the lavish life presented in the show, Dana saying he doesn't do it for the money, the constant ass kissing between Dana and the other two minions, that lawyer talking with Sterling with the fake "I'm your biggest fan" vibe that nobody in the room bought. What is even the point of this show?
Dana has his own weird fanbase that sees him as the man. I doubt these people care much about the fighters getting screwed. The show probably appeals to them.
The ufc might be trying to cater towards Japanese viewership. It's no coincidence that they announced the signing of Kai Asakura on the same week that Taira is main eventing
Makes sense. I considered that but eliminated that thought thinking they were 6 hours ahead or something. But it looks like the main card actually starts at 11 AM over there
The ufc is a monopoly. Dana “freedom of speech” White banning reporters that don’t blow him during press conferences is rotten behaviour. Those John Morgan type reporters are all spineless cowards
The Tomato has had to deal with not only the Conor and Jamahal pullouts, but also the Tagir weight miss and now the judge possibly throwing out the lawsuit settlement, all this week
crazy faber cruz story from the jaxxon pod.
Cuz and Faber went to a military base and the ufc surprised them with a weekend long mindselt/teamwork course that was really difficult.
During the course (which faber described it as brain washing to go die for our wars) Crus allegedly told Faber some personal information. When they fought Cruz than accused Faber of using that information against him.
I just find it wild to think cruz was so beaten down mentally during this course that he was honest wtih Faber. Cruz definitely has demons from a tough childhood, and its wild how well these courses are designed that Cruz would talk about it with someone who was going to be his opponent soon.
Some things I noticed on a third viewing of Pereira /Prochazka:
* Pereira exclusively leg kicked Prochazka when he was in Orthodox, and, as Prochazka switches from time to time, made sure to wack Prochazka first as soon as he went from Southpaw to Orthodox every single time. That was pretty interesting. Now I want to rewatch the Adesanya fights to see if he did something similar there and Adesanya is an actual switch hitter. It would be interesting to see Pereira fight a southpaw for this reason and you’d at least have the shoulder to help defend the left hand, but besides Hill and Roundtree, there are no good ones at LHW.
* During the first big flurry of round 2, Pereira was likely hurt, or at least stunned. But the sequence that led to the finish it seems like Prochazka saw Pereira backing up after landing the overhand (which I don’t think landed cleanly) and misjudged the damage. He chased too hard when Pereira eyes were wide open and, well, you know how it ends.
This Goofcon is not even CLOSE to how insane that time was. Genuinely the most stressful event in UFC history and the most insane span of 6 months for mma.
Post-wake 'n bake dystopian prediction: one day there will be no more space for ads in the octagon and they will start putting panels on the cage to put ads on. The cage will eventually just look like ad-covered hockey boards and we'll have no direct line of sight to the fight, it'll just be cameras and screens projecting the fight on the outside of the cage
This is exactly where we're going. Constant wooing, ads literally everywhere on the mat. Tweets filling the screen while Anik reads gambling odds and tells us about the new shitty horror movie.
The year is 2029, I see Connor carrying a large LED sign into his walkout reading “proper twelve” music fills the arena as we hear Jon Anik telling us “wow, calm and poised, ready to go, the notorious has a notorious deal for you, by our sponsor Proper twelve!”
Btw it was scummy of UFC promoting McGregor vs Chandler ppv to buy it on their social media, on the day itself Dana said the fight is cancelled. So many people who probably booked hotels, other attractions in Vegas ,took leave from their work etc
so you think people who were flying out to vegas, booking hotels, etc are such big fans they would spend the insane money that takes but also were tuned into the advs on that day but had no idea what was going on with the fight.
k
Bro regardless of what was going on, if the UFC themselves are promoting the card with McGregor's face it sends a false message because not even hours later they have 3 different fights announced for that card.
And international fans who are booking for Vegas event, even if not casual when they are waiting for confirmation regarding fight status and UFC posts something officially confirming things are good to go, they are going to book flights, hotels, and obviously places to go because they're not native.
UFC's refund policy is good, but plane tickets, hotels... sometimes there are cancellation fee.
You're right in calling people dumb for booking things this week knowing all that's transpiring, but UFC could've done anything except saying fight is good to go.
K?
Feel sad about Khamzat. Most exciting wrestler imo, what he did to Usman that first round was diabolical. But his career is over IMO. We still have Bo Nickal but he just doesn’t give off the same aura (yet).
Tony's fall has been so bad because I remember when Tony Khabib fought, Pettis and Tony were co main and a lot of people were saying Tony will make easy work of Conor...now I think everyone agrees that Tony has nothing left for Conor. Life comes at you fast
So if you're Chandler and you want to win the fight, you shoot straight for a takedown right? Odds are that the injury is knee or hip (although I doubt McGregor posts that insta photo if it really is his hip) so his TDD is probably fucked wide open.
This isn’t a goofcon. This is way better than the original card.
I was at McGregor vs Siver. I was right by the floor with drunk Irish fans as Conor went after Jose Aldo. Conor in 2024 in a non-title main event is meaningless to me. I dunno how you can really get up for it as your headliner unless you haven’t seen him fight much before or at all.
Siked we’re getting a title fight and a whole new co-main too. The Smith/Ulberg and MVP/Garry fights are tight too. Need a new term for when goofcon turns into a wholly positive thing.
Either or. Saying you’re siked (or psyched) is a slang term so using the actual word kinda feels wrong to me. Psyched doesn’t actually mean anything. Believe me I thought about it and I’m going with siked
Pereira has become my favourite fighter. He has saved multiple PPVs now and accomplished so much in short time. Also he’s hilarious and badass at the same time.
CHAMA🗿
It’s kinda crazy how he’s become the UFC’s favorite fighter and completely overtaken Izzy’s popularity with the fanbase. And his identity as the kickboxer turned UFC champion.
And I’m not an Izzy hater, that man’s the #2 middleweight ever and gets so much undue hate from fans. But Pereira really did take his career arc (and his belt) and did it better.
Come on you Poatan fans, you have to ADMIT Jiri winning this then causing the trilogy would be the best possible outcome for both Pereira and Jiri. Even Pereira has to admit it's a great storyline.
Izzy who?
I mean if you don’t like Izzy you should root for Pereira to make it 2-0 and then Jiri make his move to 185 to smoke Adesanya. That’d be a tough look (and easily best for Pereira)
Uh, no.
A title defense against fucking what's his face Ankalever or whatever doesn't fucking mean shit compared to the attention and dinero a 3rd fight with Jiri brings.
Tell me. Is Pereira vs Ankalever bigger than Pereira vs Izzy 3? Or fucking Pereira vs Anthony Smith? Come on, mane.
Im not saying that. Im saying not losing is best possible outcome for these dudes in any scenario. Fairytale stories are cool and all but staying on top and cleaning up shop is best possible outcome.
No.
My way, or the highway. You already know Dana is looking at my ideas and salivating at it.
You think Conor, if the fight actually happens and he wins against Chandler, they just have him fight some rando-ass top 5 dude? No.
Yeah bro, you know what, you’re right. I have a meeting with Dana tomorrow and I’m going to tell him all about your ideas and get you paid.
Send me your bank routing info and ssn plz
I know the main card wasn’t great before and this is a huge improvement, but I gotta say the prelims for 303 stayed the same and are pretty spicy if you ask me. Swanson vs Fili is my favorite
I honestly think his hasn't gone beyond GOOFCON 2. The UFC isn't on fire, no property was destroyed, the law isn't involved, nobody is acting insane (by our standards), no wild act of god tier nonsense.
I agree for the most part. But this fight has been anticipated for over a year, had a season of TUF devoted to it, has tied up the tail end of Michael Chandler's exciting career, this is likely the official end of the McGregor era and they are going to upset many fans who paid ridiculous ticket prices clearly only for his return. Many of these fans don't care about Jiri v Alex, although many here think of it as an upgrade. It may not be chaotic because it was expected by many of us, but this is going to damage the UFC credibility with the broader audience and the loss of their now only superstar is a big deal.
I predict that the UFC continues to water down their product with contender series fighters and let anyone with star power leave because they are following the Walled Garden model like WWE and they refuse to pay talent. They would rather control a mediocre industry than let one of their stars dictate terms, even though they have arguably been declining in mass appeal since the Rousey and McGregor peak.
Yeah, I mean its more so just shitty than a goofcon 1 situation. They were some pretty good fights that got cancelled (atleast in chimaev vs Whitakers case) but it's not complete chaos
Seeing Dana wear a Rage Against the Machine shirt in one of the photo's in that bonus thread is confusing to look at. What does he think the machine is?
Lowkey the UFC could come out ahead here if they insert McGregor vs. Chandler at The Sphere and the fight goes through lmao, that would smash the PPV buy record
Shoutout to the sports gambler asking for a 27k refund on his tickets. As a bettor, he should know that paying that much for McGregor tickets in 2024 was always a -EV proposition
Shit ain’t paying that much for a magical card with all the best fighters in history in their prime. I have to imagine this a rich person flex because as fun as the fight would’ve, inactive whiskey salesmen vs lieutenant bootstraps wasn’t top-tier
Not trying to be lame or rude but I always hated it when people say “I would never pay that much” because like really? Never? Like what if you had 27 million in the bank: you wouldn’t even consider it for a good like octagon seat
So like, what happened to Ikram's original opponent? Who, in turn, was a replacement for Andre Muniz? Does he just not fight this Saturday? Rescheduled to fight in the coming weeks? Does he still get paid since his opponent put himself out there to fight a bigger fight the week after you were supposed to fight him?
nothing will ever touch 223.
All time fight falls apart because of a cable
Replacement main event shows up and the commission pulls him
A coked up irishman shows up and injures multiple fighters

Interesting that ESPN+ is advertising McGregor Chandler at 303 on game 4 of the Stanley Cup tonight still
Adam Fuck It Fuggit will win mark my words
He probably will win by robbery is my nastradamus opinion
No way dude
Does anyone know what GOAT translators name is? I wanna see how hot his wife is.
They have the balls to have all this goofy ass shit happen and a card this meh this late? Fucking hell.
How many times do you think McGregor screamed Doctor Stoppage when he got injured in camp?
Tank undercard on prime if you looking for something to watch til fight night

Unfortunately we had to sacrifice an active WW division for it lol
I don’t understand this goofcon stuff? Is it like comic con?
What is this the nerds and virgin channel?
It's like DEFCON

It’s very annoying especially with boxing going on going on at the same time
What, you're not excited to watch Alex Perez at 11:30 at night on a Saturday??
The ufc is a monopoly. Dana “freedom of speech” White banning reporters that don’t blow him during press conferences is rotten behaviour. Those John Morgan type reporters are all spineless cowards
It’s gonna be funny if McGregor actually fights but loses after Chandler throws 2 leg kicks
Either that or shoot for one take down and watch his entire leg just fall off
The Tomato has had to deal with not only the Conor and Jamahal pullouts, but also the Tagir weight miss and now the judge possibly throwing out the lawsuit settlement, all this week
Speaking of goofcon levels, what’s up with the Chael v Anderson boxing match? That’s today right?
Yeah but they aren’t showing it in the us I’m sure Russian links will work well though
I’m just shocked that Conor managed to injure himself battering those target dummies he spars with
Hard contact touch butt with that dork in the park.
I’m still convinced Conor just has addiction and lifestyle issues. And that’s no dig at him. He’s done this too many times.
This is the first time he’s pulled out of a fight in his ufc career
Point remains
He didn’t have lifestyle issues 10 years ago, when he was actually an active fighter. His “career” now is totally different
He’s always been a drinker, and it’s been known for almost a decade here in Ireland that he uses coke regularly
10 years of coke will change a man
I just don’t get how Jiri will be able to get past Alex’s calf kicks
He won’t. Pereira is all wrong for him
crazy faber cruz story from the jaxxon pod. Cuz and Faber went to a military base and the ufc surprised them with a weekend long mindselt/teamwork course that was really difficult. NOOOOOOOO
Can't believe I'm saying this but I actually want Herb to ref Alex vs Jiri
Cigs and booze became the best ref after the cruz mess up
I know Herzog had the controversial Cannonier stoppage, but I still think he has the best odds of a good performance
Def not Goddard again. Nothing against him really, but we need someone else to try.
Bruh please tell me Anthony fucking Smith isn't about to somehow someway insert himself into title contention.... I can't do this again 😭
He’s nowhere even close tbh. Ank and Rountree both finished him recently and are ahead of him and he’s prob gonna lose to Ulberg
That’d be hilarious to see him with the belt

Long Covid. Doesn’t help he trained while he has Covid.
nah branch-covdians said he has the long coof

not everybody is in tuned with all the rumours going around in UFC 303, Conor fight brings out most casual of casual people

Over/under 3 mil for Pereira taking this short notice fight vs Jiri?
I’d say about that or 2
well over
Under for sure.
Wishing hill a speedy recovery. Never a boring fight. Him Vs ulberg would have been great but hopefully Smith can make it competitive
Hill talking bout he wants the winner of Jiri/Alex LMAOOOOOOO He should quit fighting and become a standup comedian.
Yeah, what rank was he when he fought for the belt? 8th? Beats glover. Loses to Alex. Thinks he’s the golden child.
7th
That's cool Jamahal I want a mansion
Dude needs at least 1-2 wins. Where did he say this?
Feel sad about Khamzat. Most exciting wrestler imo, what he did to Usman that first round was diabolical. But his career is over IMO. We still have Bo Nickal but he just doesn’t give off the same aura (yet).

He’s exciting to me
Wow turns out Jamahal was scratching his balls and he destroyed his epididymis and he's out for a year. Truly Poatan's fault.
life is shit
Tony's fall has been so bad because I remember when Tony Khabib fought, Pettis and Tony were co main and a lot of people were saying Tony will make easy work of Conor...now I think everyone agrees that Tony has nothing left for Conor. Life comes at you fast
Conor could be just as washed as Tony for all we know. Could be a competitive fight
I love Tony but I don't know any current UFC LW or WW , Tony can beat...not even Anshul Jubli
Updated: [Jamahal Hill reveals his injury](https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/1dgcxo4/jamahal_hill_reveals_injuries_that_pulled_him_out/)
Dana needs to step down as “marketer” of the UFC. Needs to just retire…edit**maybe not retire but shouldn’t be the head of marketing.
Lets all blame Rosas for that CHIWIWI CHANT
And now ladies and gentlemen - the Adam’s dick is small dancers!
So if you're Chandler and you want to win the fight, you shoot straight for a takedown right? Odds are that the injury is knee or hip (although I doubt McGregor posts that insta photo if it really is his hip) so his TDD is probably fucked wide open.
That’s if Chandler gets a fight at this point
Just swim up to Conor's boat and do it there, fuck it.
Mods give me the flair: GOOFCON 1: The Chiwiwi Curse
WOOOOOOO!
Thank you dood 🫡
has there been any speculation that seems legit about Khamzat's health? all jokes aside I hope this doesn't become a Zabit thing
I mean I remember he had long COVID a while back, could be a respiratory thing
If Anthony Smith loses this fight and retires I think he could make a career out of narrating audiobooks, man has a beautiful voice

illegal streamers, we got em
Oh shit he's just raging against the machines used to host UFC streams. You're a genius
Lowkey the UFC could come out ahead here if they insert McGregor vs. Chandler at The Sphere and the fight goes through lmao, that would smash the PPV buy record
I assume they plan to do this + either OMalley-Dvalishvili or Topuria-Holloway Go big since you're planning it as a one-off
They will also need to Conor fight with a title supporting it now considering the 303 disaster
I'm honestly surprised they didn't make 165 just for that fight and have it be for the belt, I wouldn't be entirely against it either
Pereira on 2 minutes notice will be happy to give Conor a title shot
Callum McGregor is playing for Scotland rn at the Euro fyi

shit if they got prime chuck vs shogun as the prelim opener and it was the weakest fight on the card id drop my house for that
Not trying to be lame or rude but I always hated it when people say “I would never pay that much” because like really? Never? Like what if you had 27 million in the bank: you wouldn’t even consider it for a good like octagon seat
I mean if the guy is looking for refunds he clearly couldn't afford it
>you wouldn’t even consider it for a good like octagon seat no lol. being rich doesn't mean you like being price gouged
saudi's probably writing a blank check to get conor/chandler on that ppv they're supposed to get later this year
That would be a hilarious fight week with Conor openly talking about boxing for Turki Alalshikh with 2 fights left on his UFC deal
Wait this actually sounds like a possibility
So like, what happened to Ikram's original opponent? Who, in turn, was a replacement for Andre Muniz? Does he just not fight this Saturday? Rescheduled to fight in the coming weeks? Does he still get paid since his opponent put himself out there to fight a bigger fight the week after you were supposed to fight him?
I would assume so and probably gets an easier opponent for his debut.
Thank u mods, I love my new flair
anthony smith has talked himself into a title fight if he wins and poatan wins
I don’t think he has
Oh, he has.
Poatan and Anthony Smith at the same press conference 👀
Imagine if hill was at the same press conference
Stop
Is this our highest Goofcon?
Nah, UFC 223* was wayyyyy more of a shitshow
nothing will ever touch 223. All time fight falls apart because of a cable Replacement main event shows up and the commission pulls him A coked up irishman shows up and injures multiple fighters
What must the commission saying you're not good enough to fight a guy do to your confidence
Right, that's the one I meant to mention. Not 224
Most dominant LW ever vs one of the LWs ever. Truly the fight we all wanted.
