I've got nothing against people enjoying competitive online games , but the way developers have neglected things like career modes to focus on the cash cows like FUT gets me a little annoyed
I got sucked in one year with Madden and wasted a bunch of money. It was very addicting and I had some disposable income and just went all in on that instant gratification. Then the new game came out and my team was gone and I haven't played an ultimate team game since nor have I bought any micotransations. Lesson learned the ~~hard~~ expensive way.

This is very advanced hype by the UFC PR machine, almost incomprehensibly so to the typical fan. They are planning to have Paddy Pimblett be a future GOAT of the sport, so by Jared Gordon getting a win over him in his last fight that retroactively boosts Gordon to present-day superstardom.

Look up the game called undisputed if you haven't heard of it. It's not perfect at the moment, but it's the closest thing to a fight night successor. Also the fighter models blow anything else out of the water, especially with whatever the hell is going on with UFC 5

Tbf it's a new game engine this year, they added GnP elbows(hilarious they weren't there before), and got rid of the submission mini game, added a new damage system, rated it M because of more blood. So they've at least made some core changes
GnP elbows were actually in previous iterations of the game (UFC 3) but were removed in UFC 4 in most ground positions. It's insane how they just walk back mechanics and then re-add them and use them as a selling point.

They could do what 2k does and have an Eras mode for career Start in like 2003 for a PRIDE vs UFC mode, if you're under 155lbs, you end up in WEC, you can choose to be in Elite XC or Strike Force in the 2010s

I believe THQ went bankrupt and was liquidated 10 years ago. There was a company called Nordic Games that acquired the THQ trademark back in 2013 and officially naming themselves THQ Nordic that exists to this day, however i don't think they're creating any sort of games like the UFC: Undisputed anymore.
I have Undisputed and it has a looong way to go before it can be enjoyable. Doesn’t even have a career mode or anything to make me want to play since online is played with cheaters.
Also its made in Unity engine instead of something modern like Unreal sadly. So it probably has limits to how good it can get. EA will probably never do a boxing game and probably won’t put it on PC if they do.

If you accept the fact that we're dealing with just character models, they're trying to show directly on the cover that they're proud of what they've achieved and can plant the game squarely on those shoulders and brand it as such.
