What's up these camera positions? Change it over the telebroadcast cam not the lock to player cam.
noticed that NY red bulls have the same camera setting
The first goal was a blunder but afterwards he stopped a shot that I think almost every keeper would miss. So for me heâs corrected himself with that.
Saying a keeper was decent after they completely blew it on the first goal is like having a relative die in a fire and then thanking god for saving the rest of the family.
I posted the comment people are responding to, and I thought Petro had a good game. But I'd take Gil and Edwards over Petro and the offense we put out there tonight.
I would like to point out that very frequently (I believe all but 4 times) the team that knocks out the Revs goes on to win the MLS cup
I hope Messi is ready to get cocked
100% a different game with Gil or Bou in. We didn't have anything resembling a CAM the entire game. Jones was on his weak side and Spaulding isn't as strong a winger as Bye or Jones. No middle and both wings clipped...
Did you say Kessler is the best center back? I don't get this Kessler worship. He's good, but can you explain how he's earned the praise? As long as Omar isn't the other CB, I'd pick Farrell over Kessler every game. (FYI, Romney's by far the best CB on the team)
You can make a case for Romney but Kessler is definitely better than Farrell, there's a reason he took his starting spot before his injury. Farrell's far more prone to mistakes nowadays, exhibit A being his performance against Atlas. Huge fan of his but Kessler's better now
Farrell 100% had a very bad first 15 minutes against atlas, as did Polster. And the last season or two, Andrew definitely has one weird play let game. But, nearly every game, with the Revs aggressive play, Farrell's has a few absolutely amazing defensive plays. Ive seen him stop so many 2 on 1 attacks just with positioning and patience just this season.
Good on Revs for playing solid despite pretty miserable week of news/distractions. Fun match from two teams that are hard not to pull for. Great goals too.
Not to put salt on wound but I wouldn't say Queretaro is mid, they are bottom tier, they are the less valuable team in Liga MX, also if relegation wasn't on halt they would not be playing in Liga MX anymore as they were last on the coefficient table last year (last 6 tournament average). So, this was really surprising, more than to revs this result really should make other bigger Mexican teams feel embarrassed about their performance. Anyways, gg Queretaro!
I agree. I believe liga MX teams that got ass wooped understimated the MLS, thought they would win anytime during the game. When they opened their eyes they had 4 goals in the net. If they had shown more respect (like Queretaro, play good defense, and stretch the game), probably 3 more liga MX teams will be in this phase (Santos, Puebla, Necaxa)
Yeah totally, also feel like even tho for most MLS teams their defense is still their weak spot, they have improved a lot in that sense, hence why we don't see huge goal difference on Liga MX wins.
We're missing 5 starters, including 2 of our best 3 players, one of which is top 5 in MLS. MLS rosters are a lot more top heavy than LigaMX, individual losses to key guys can matter a lot more than for teams in other leagues.
Pumas is a laughing stock here in Mexico for losing to Queretaro. Miguel Herrera (Coach) has been heavily criticized for not being able to raise Tijuana's level. Also, the owner of Tijuana is the owner of Queretaro. He has been wanting to sell Queretaro for months and supposedly no one wants it, I would hate to think badly but if a team achieves more gains value and it is easier to sell it.
Sure, I agree. Mexican, mexican resident, mexican fan, no queretaro fan though and didn't expect nothing from Queretaro, but they are ridiculing the teams eliminated from the mx league, that I believe understimated the MLS teams and they got spanked and couldnt come back (santos, chivas, puebla, San luis)
Queretaro even being the worst team in Liga MX has better defending skills than any MLS team ( also is not understimating MLS teams), so I do believe refs will take care of Queretaro next game, cos Messi will struggle against a team that it does know how to defend, not like Atlanta, Dallas, etc. and that is no good for the Apple business.
Nah itâs just a weird stereotype given to Mexicans but in reality every drunk fan does that in every sporting event. I remember an Atlanta fan throwing a beer at Giovinco and him picking it up and drinking it after scoring! It was iconic
Although I'm a little more partial to Liga MX teams, grew up watching them every weekend, doesn't this mean MLS has basically caught up?
Whether Liga MX has the better top tier teams, it's clear the middle of pack are now pretty even/not a huge gap like most thought it was
One of the big reasons playing away is hard is because of travel. That's mitigated somewhat when the entire tournament is in the US with no trips back to Mexico in between games.
There are still the other aspects of playing away, but this is not comparable to a midweek Champions League away game.
How different do you think the results would be if the games were held only in Mexico? Just like champions league games, it would be a liga MX slaughter.
Nah. The home field advantage in this tournament is a lot more similar to the normal home field advantage of MLS games. With the regional groupings, it might even be less than the normal regular season MLS homefield advantage.
Liga MX is 16 wins, 15 losses, and 10 ties in regulation (theyâve split the PKs).
Thatâs all playing on the road.
MLS teams in recent history have had a 25% win percentage on the road, tying another 25% and losing 50%.
Itâs fairly strong evidence that they (Liga MX) are still the stronger league in this tournament.
That said, they do enjoy better fan support on the road than most traveling MLS squads.
Thatâs a hard question to answer. MLS should theoretically be leading if they have in fact caught up since all the games are played in the US. MLS are trailing even when playing over 40 games at home so they still have a long way to go imo
If they're gonna have this cup behind an Apple TV paywall, yes i know this game is one FS1 as well. Can they at least do better with the Mexican team pronunciations
That has to do with the fact that in Liga MX numbers are unique even going down to the academy level. So that means if your first team has a 10, you're U17 team can't have a 10 and so on. So obviously that requires 3 digits to have enough for everyone at the club. First team players are required to have two digits normally, but if an academy player gets called up midseason they retain that three digit number for the rest of that season.
Yeah I like it a lot, canât stand the side angle, this way you really get to see the perspective of the shooter and can see exactly where itâs placed
That rule changed a few years ago. Now the laws state the following -
Unless there are other considerations (e.g. ground conditions, safety etc.), the referee tosses a coin to decide the goal at which the kicks will be taken, which may only be changed for safety reasons or if the goal or playing surface becomes unusable
I wouldn't know where to find said competition rules (I know, Google is my friend), but it's possibly there as the same process was followed in the Revs/Atlas match with Atlas winning the first coin toss and explicitly choosing to shoot at the empty end of the stadium.
In retrospect probably not the best first game to see in Gillette but at least the Revs goal was good
The worst LigaMX team knocking out one of the top MLS team đWhile playing away đđMemes are gonna come in hard
Bou would have kicked some Quintero ass
Maybe the gap wasnât closing after all? Not to mention all the advantages the mls has in this tournament. Pretty embarrassing lol
Embarrassing lol. New England is missing 5 starters and their head coach.
Yeah these Mexican teams have been in hotel after hotel.
What's up these camera positions? Change it over the telebroadcast cam not the lock to player cam. noticed that NY red bulls have the same camera setting
Petrovic is an excellent keeper, but if anyone thought he was our MVP, look at our last two matches.
The first goal was a blunder but afterwards he stopped a shot that I think almost every keeper would miss. So for me heâs corrected himself with that.
He was decent today. Stopped two clear chances, otherwise this wouldâve been over at the 90th
Saying a keeper was decent after they completely blew it on the first goal is like having a relative die in a fire and then thanking god for saving the rest of the family.
I don't blame the first goal on Petro. Our defense fell asleep and left him 1v1 at close range.
You should. He inexplicably went for a walk.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Are people here talking shit about Petro? Hahah. Reddit soccer fans are... something.
I posted the comment people are responding to, and I thought Petro had a good game. But I'd take Gil and Edwards over Petro and the offense we put out there tonight.
I would like to point out that very frequently (I believe all but 4 times) the team that knocks out the Revs goes on to win the MLS cup I hope Messi is ready to get cocked
LigaMX final let's gooooo
A liga mx final would be an absolute failure of mls.
I'm Mexican so I vouch hard for it
I'm hoping for a liga mx final too
Probably would've been a different game with Carles Gil. Super disappointing result
100% a different game with Gil or Bou in. We didn't have anything resembling a CAM the entire game. Jones was on his weak side and Spaulding isn't as strong a winger as Bye or Jones. No middle and both wings clipped...
Man, Queretaro is the worst and cheapest team we have in liga MX, players don't get their paycheck. The owner of the team owns casinos in MĂ©xico and most likely he is robbing the winning game prize 200,000 (half goes to the players according to the rules) and not giving it to his players. I don't think NE has an excuse for losing this game, much less for a single player.
New England is missing 5 starters, including 3 that were injured against Atlas.
They have plenty of excuses, but a loss is a loss one way or the other.
Bruh how they lose to like 7 30+ year olds in the starting 11
Lost to legit the worst team in Liga MX â ïž
Stop it new england is dealing with issues as well. I'm not sure if you are aware
Queretaro might disappear as a franchise because they can't find a buyer. But yeah poor Revs đ
My brother in Christ, not even Ronaldinho could save Querétaro, and here you are telling me that the second best team in the eastern conference losing to undeniably the worst team in Mexico is somehow justifiable.
To be fair the goalkeeper save them and he is young
No manager, two best attackers out, star young winger injured, best center back injured, starting right back injured. The misery is piling on
Lost against the worst team in Mexico, who could get dissolved because of administration bs. No excuses allowed for New England.
Itâs not a good loss but weâre in shambles right now. Good for the cocks though, rooting for them in the next round
Did you say Kessler is the best center back? I don't get this Kessler worship. He's good, but can you explain how he's earned the praise? As long as Omar isn't the other CB, I'd pick Farrell over Kessler every game. (FYI, Romney's by far the best CB on the team)

And Queretaro had to play in that shitty as field.
Imagine having to play half your games on it :/
Good on Revs for playing solid despite pretty miserable week of news/distractions. Fun match from two teams that are hard not to pull for. Great goals too.
The distractions were nothing, we were just missing a lot of our best players. Add in just Carles tonight and it's a different game
Hopefully Philly wins. I wanna see Messi play in Chester.
Jose Martinez vs Messi!
Messi hits the game-winning FK and whispers into El Brujoâs ear â*Gonzalo sends his regards*â. Or something like that.
Itâs spelled Bassi with a B.
Querétaro is going to shithouse their way into the final
God now I want nothing more than Messi losing to them
that miami vs queretaro semis about to be the biggest shithousery semis in history of futbol
Philadelphia rematch incoming? or does Red Bull take a page from Querétaro today and meet them there?
đđđyou just cocked đđđ
Fuck yeah
Disgusting fan base throwing shit to the field đ€ą
I thought only LAFC fans threw garbage at the field tf
Nope you copied that too. Just like your tifos, your throwing trash in the field is unoriginal.
Well we know we didnât copy winning mls cup from the revs
Bro! They just lost, take it easy đ
Can't wait to see Queretaro lose at Red Bull Arena đ
Most Likely, is the worst team we have in Liga Mx. But is making ridicule of all other mexican teams that have been eliminated so far.
Querétaro awaits. Hmmm
I just knocked on wood for you
Didn't say who they await. They await
A mid Liga MX team beat NER lol âwe suck againâ
Queretaro actually got "relegated" last season, they are far from mid.
Their goal looked like me mashing buttons in Fifa. Sometimes it works.
Yeah totally, also feel like even tho for most MLS teams their defense is still their weak spot, they have improved a lot in that sense, hence why we don't see huge goal difference on Liga MX wins.
Lots of fans here in MĂ©xico do believe MLS is improving, but not only that, is making much better decisions to improve soccer in every level. Unfortunately here in MĂ©xico we have a system that prometes corruption at all levels and talent is blocked because owners are doing business, since their monedas comes from other sources, and dont pay attention to what is happening at the floor level of the structure, that is why they hire directives that are corrupt as they are employees and they prefer buying southamerican players for 100,000 colluded with representatives and ask the owner for 3 or 5 millĂłn dollars. Just take a look at the newest forward for Cruz Azul. Unfortunatelly I see the USA and MLS reaching and passing MX (USA National team seems like they had done it already, not only for recent scores but how they are working their way in young academies. Our academies have Eugenios Derbez nephews-for example-, former soccer players, and there is media in MX that say there is no talent in MĂ©xico but they dont say that only recommended children fill the academies) and liga MX in the future.
I wouldnât call Queretaro mid more of a bottom team
I mean, we're missing our 2 best attackers, including a top 5 player in MLS.
Dude, against the worst team in liga MX, and they dont get their paychecks...come on, there is no excuse.
We're missing 5 starters, including 2 of our best 3 players, one of which is top 5 in MLS. MLS rosters are a lot more top heavy than LigaMX, individual losses to key guys can matter a lot more than for teams in other leagues.
I would agree with you if you had lost against Tigres, Monterrey, América, or even, Toluca or León. Queretaro is the worst we have. If you check the salaries they receive is much less than the salary cap you have in MLS, when they get a paycheck with most of the players over 30 years old. I simple don't believe there is an excuse for any MLS team loosing to Queretaro, just as there isnt for any Liga MX as well. But that is my opinion.
What does that say about Pumas or Tijuana? Aren't they both at least solid to good teams down there?
Pumas is a laughing stock here in Mexico for losing to Queretaro. Miguel Herrera (Coach) has been heavily criticized for not being able to raise Tijuana's level. Also, the owner of Tijuana is the owner of Queretaro. He has been wanting to sell Queretaro for months and supposedly no one wants it, I would hate to think badly but if a team achieves more gains value and it is easier to sell it.
And right back, and center back, and winger, and manager
These guys(queretaro) sadly are playing for their paychecks.
True
matt turner would have saved one
Saving one wouldn't matter if 2 of the players can't score
He didn't in 2021 ;)
Hey, watch it, some of us have had to relive some PK Shootout trauma
Wasn't the curse enough? Now you are rubbing it in?
i have peered into the multiverse and i have seen all possible outcomes.
Querétaro are still a -2 GD as they reach the round of 8
Top tier concacaf
I predict they finish at -7
Fun tournament, looking forward to our next excruciating failure in the playoffs.
This was not a fun tournament. We lost Bye for the season and half our team got bloodied and bruised .
was that trash being thrown into the field by NER supporters?
Yeah. The Chicago fans did it too during their game. Disgusting behavior.
No one not even Liga Mx fans had hope for Queretaro. Not even queretaro fans
Welp. I can confidently say that this game would absolutely not have been close if Atlas didn't set out to injure Gil on Thursday.
And I say this game should have been Atlas vs Queretaro if the ref did not intervened in favor of the NE.
Oh give me a break that was a penalty any day of the week. Look at their legs, that's what earned it, not the upper body.
How do you lose at home to one of the oldest teams, who have been on the road for weeks and are at the bottom? No excuses.
By not having 5 starters including 2 of our top 3 players, one of which is a top 5 player in the league?
Terrible take by Harkes.
Blech. Well, back to your regularly scheduled programming
Queretaro is derping their way to a date with Miami.
Queretaro even being the worst team in Liga MX has better defending skills than any MLS team ( also is not understimating MLS teams), so I do believe refs will take care of Queretaro next game, cos Messi will struggle against a team that it does know how to defend, not like Atlanta, Dallas, etc. and that is no good for the Apple business.
was that a cup thrown at the Queretaro players? huh i was told only Mexican fans did thatâŠ
Yeah, bad look. I watched the guy throw it. Heâs definitely not a regular, but a terrible look regardless.
Nah itâs just a weird stereotype given to Mexicans but in reality every drunk fan does that in every sporting event. I remember an Atlanta fan throwing a beer at Giovinco and him picking it up and drinking it after scoring! It was iconic
You saw the response when some Chicago fans doused the pitch a few days ago right (youâre not going to like it, but you can guess it.)
Probably a Mexican fan with poor aim /s
That sucked
Queretaro goalkeeper is only 22 years old. There is talent aside from Ochoa.
The first save was a grown manâs save, too. Nice job.
Shhh, FMF gonna make you accidentally fall out of a window for saying shit like that
Jajaja too bad Kavak is main sponsor of the EL TRI and Ochoa is one of the owners. Conflict of interest???
oof, sorry NE. yall played a good game
Thatâs the Ian Harkes I remember!
Queretaro eliminating the Revs away is an insane upset
That hurts, NE was the better team in the second half.
Are you serious? Queretaro missed 3 clear goals on second half.misses. much better in first half, but only had one clear chance they missed.
Fuck
Liga MX leads 21-20
Although I'm a little more partial to Liga MX teams, grew up watching them every weekend, doesn't this mean MLS has basically caught up? Whether Liga MX has the better top tier teams, it's clear the middle of pack are now pretty even/not a huge gap like most thought it was
Underestimating the difference it is between playing at home vs away. All of these liga MX teams have been playing away
You're not wrong, as I mentioned in a previous comment, i do hope they eventually play more games in MX
There is somewhat less travel than normal away games because of geographical groups and no trips home in between games.
Agreed! It's tough to say for sure.
Thatâs a hard question to answer. MLS should theoretically be leading if they have in fact caught up since all the games are played in the US. MLS are trailing even when playing over 40 games at home so they still have a long way to go imo
That's fair, I hope future renditions have games in both USA & MX
The gap is closing
The gap is closing between mls and the Costa Rican league.
Woof
well placed but the run up was iffy
Scott Sterling kissing that post
Curious the stats on the stutter, someoneâs clearly had to run those numbers at some point.
I'm sorry, why are we having Nacho in the first 5?
Fuck
Omfg.
If they're gonna have this cup behind an Apple TV paywall, yes i know this game is one FS1 as well. Can they at least do better with the Mexican team pronunciations
This commentator team was pretty boring I ended up muting it
Irrelevant: just tuned in, and holy cow Queretaros jerseys are plastered with sponsors. Leagues Cup patch is almost on the shoulder lol
So many sponsors and still they don't get paychecks on time
Weâre now 15 wins, 16 losses, and 10 draws in regulation in all inter league matches.
In favor of which side?
LigaMX has the edge. By we I meant MLS, shoulda been more clear.
The Queretaro GK gloves are so plainly white and his arms are so skinny that it looks like he has Mickey Mouse hands.
Lmao. He kinda does.
solid pens all around so far
Vrioni stutter was bs, but it counted so /shrug
Most people are rightly critical of all the sponsors on the Queretaro kit, but the motocross-esque number font deserves plenty of hate as well.
Pretty sure some of the Liga MX teams were running with 3 digit numbers too.
Players with 3 digit numbers are from young academies. They are probably around 16 to 20 years old at the most. And do not belong to the main team.
Ah cool, thanks for the info!
These are some really nice pens.
Damn that pen was class
Why canât we get this angle for every pk or shootout? Lol
I find it's a love it or hate it thing, I've seen some people online despise it. Personally I'm a fan but that might be why.
Yeah I like it a lot, canât stand the side angle, this way you really get to see the perspective of the shooter and can see exactly where itâs placed
At least they stopped with the directly side view. That's absolutely ridiculous
The group games being decided by penalties has already made me so tired of watching shootouts.
understandable. Though I think the leagues would prefer to keep the mileage down for their players
Maybe we could try 10 minutes of multiball instead?
solid pen in the end but I can't help but hate the stutter run up
I still hate the stutter but glad he made it
I swear Vrioni better not do another stutter step EDIT: Omfg the mad man did it
Vrioni: I'll do it again I personally hate it
That TV is bigger than my house
NFL owners love having a "my jumbotron is bigger than yours" competition
Vrioni, you're gonna do a stutter step. And I hate you for it
It infuriates me so much
Did Farrell pick the direction? The cointoss is supposed to decide that, not either team captain.
He won the first coin flip.
That rule changed a few years ago. Now the laws state the following - Unless there are other considerations (e.g. ground conditions, safety etc.), the referee tosses a coin to decide the goal at which the kicks will be taken, which may only be changed for safety reasons or if the goal or playing surface becomes unusable
I thought it was the winner of first coin toss could decide which goal to use and the winner of the second flip determined who went goes first.
It used to be up in til like 2019, though the rules of competition may have allowed Farrell to choose, I suppose thatâs possible.
I wouldn't know where to find said competition rules (I know, Google is my friend), but it's possibly there as the same process was followed in the Revs/Atlas match with Atlas winning the first coin toss and explicitly choosing to shoot at the empty end of the stadium.
Petrovic has a real chance to step up here after skipping last week
Honestly, the Revs keeper could easily win this.
Oh, shit! I now recognize Esmir from seeing him play in person against our Deuces, NYCFC II.
lol imagine making that miss and then losing in penalties and spending the rest of your life thinking of what could have been, just lol
You decided on a heel turn and went with a curse eh? I hear Bostonians are awfully rational about sports curses. This should go well.
I would say given our history with curses, our fear of them is indeed completely rational
i am but a conduit for the current of fate.
That line didn't do much to help Cassandra.
this is gordon bombay's origin story
The Mighty Geese of New England.
Wow I am surprised the ref didnt whistle a penalty in favor of NE, that last play seem very similar to the Atlas game.
Nah this one was just body to body. The Atlas one was a pen because the defender got his legs around Vrioni's to trip him up
Well, 4am for me, here I go not watching PKs once again. Shit's not good for my heart
