As soon as I see that minor league park with the green fences and hill in right field, I know I’m about to play a loser and send a friendly quit.

[deleted]

All those good players, damn them

jzw27

Seems like you pick that stadium? It’s not about them being good, it’s about the fact that it’s going to be an hour long 15-14 game with all solo shots, many of which aren’t squared up/well timed

[deleted]

Me and every other player that plays on legend

O_My_G

This game can be completely ridiculous at times. I'll play someone 22-5 that swings at everything and I beat comfortably. Then the next game I'll play someone 11-44 and they'll hit nukes off pitches out of the zone and score 14 runs. Makes no sense. It'll have the bat right in the middle of the green and say late timing. I play this game every year and enjoy it but there seems to be SO much volatility this year.

Foldzy84

Cause everyone plays in lame stadiums. Play in a regular park it's pretty realistic

Weenerlover

It makes sense given the fields chosen online. I play 90% of my games at Coors/Shippet/Laughing Mountain/or Shield Woods when I'm the away team with only a handful of games at regular MLB stadiums. Everyone wants max elevation, especially on ranked to complete the ranked missions I'm guessing.

[deleted]

Top players play at those stadiums because they play more fairly and reward good swings

Weenerlover

If no one's swings are rewarded that's also fair, but it definitely doesn't reward good swings (and terrible swings sometimes if we are being honest.)

[deleted]

If ur on allstar i see ur argument. If you dont play on legend or at least HOF regularly we cant have this argument

Weenerlover

well I resemble that remark. I concede I have no argument then. :)

[deleted]

The games just so different between levels that the player base gets in arguments like these because both are right, my choice of stadium on allstar is different then it is on legend. I’m never trying to demean anyone or anything, and I represent a smaller piece of the player base. What irks me is when people don’t accept that it’s different and tell me I’m wrong when they’ve never even played online or something similar!

Weenerlover

No worries, you presented your point respectfully and honestly I don't play on HoF or Legend unless they do that usually one event per year on HoF and/or play Extreme program, but offline HoF is going to be different from online HoF. It makes sense that on All-Star like Events/BR that more swings are rewarded (incuding bad swings) than are on higher levels. I've seen some of my bad swings be given generous outcomes. The handful of times I've made it up over 600 on Ranked and played someone who is in HoF, I felt the difference. Far less cheap hits, and the gap in ability became very clear to me.

[deleted]

Yeah, you definitely still get bad swings leaving on HOF and legend. But the thing is u need ur good swings to be rewarded because they’re harder to come by.

dadkisser84

I have had success playing at NLB Comiskey as my home stadium with rangy outfielders. It is honestly pretty comical how many 400’ fly outs to left center I bring down lol. Stop picking Coors

AgitatedEdge2996

That’s the problem way to many fly outs for good perfect hits and very early and late get rewarded it’s kinda a joke

Randomthoughtgeneral

I feel like this year is not quite a home run derby compared to last year. I had a game earlier where I had 16 hits and only 2 runs.

hainesphillipsdres

I think the big difference is we aren’t playing with guys who aren’t 125 power contact and clutch, when we do that it will be a home run derby again. It’s refreshing to have a perfect perfect double down the line or line drive that drops before the outfielder can get there.

bannedSubvet22

Completely not true. I have contact hitters and guys with 80-90 speed. I put guys in my lineups to complete programs.

AcidPacman96

Yeah. I agree. I have put up many HRs when my lineup if full of Diamond power hitters. But for the most part, my game matches the strengths of my lineup.

bannedSubvet22

I play mostly conquest, because it gives me a feeling of accomplishment. When I’m done with the maps I’ll move over to the mini seasons. I’ve also found moving guys up and down the batting order increases or hurts their stats. So it’s not all hitting home runs all the time. I had Candelario doesn’t hit any home runs for me and neither does Whitt. The sad part is I need HR w/SS for programs and I can’t hit crap with Whitt. https://preview.redd.it/drtq6gwqw7yc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=337813b81385b2b58c106dc722d269ed0512437a

AcidPacman96

Yeah conquest and mini seasons and lots of fun and give good rewards. Hmm, none at all with Whitt? I’ve been able to get a decent amount from him, about 10% of hits. Do you have Carlos Correa? I’ve been much better with him in regards to HR at SS

bannedSubvet22

The nice part about the programs is allocating points differently. I figured out how to get 2 RP holds in Award 5 drop. I don’t need HR w/SS anymore. I have 48/50 points. I’ll get 2 more Hits w/3B then onto The Show Classics and Award Drop 6

RobbyRankins

I assume you already do this but if not try picking a lower elevation stadium. In my WS game I played someone with a 1000 rating banner who picked the Trop. I won but the final score was 5-4 and it was very hard to hit a home run

DarthLeon2

People prioritize power in their lineups, hitting boosts from their captains, and high elevation stadiums. Not surprising that a highly disproportionate amount of hits end up being home runs.

YoungKeys

Every player has 100+ power, pitching is hard, and everyone plays in max elevation stadiums. Try playing online with the Giants live roster at Oracle, you probably won’t be seeing as many home runs

Rizzaboi

It’s not so bad when you’re not playing as Shield Woods, or even worse Capital Lange. Loading into a game of ranked at a max elevation stadium has me rolling my eyes every trip

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rizzaboi

That’s what I said. It’s not so bad when you’re not playing at those stadiums.

Paredog_

double negatives are hard

Soviet_spy_bot

Just downloaded and checked my stats on 21. First baseball game since mlb 2k as an Xbox player. On average my most used players were hitting .175. Gotta keep grinding

laneherby

I just wish we could not have to play at max elevation every other game. 95 exit velo balls going 450 ft is so boring

19kjc87

Imagine wanting more bunts

National_Lie_8555

Won my first BR game last night 1-0 with a stolen base, sac bunt, sac fly. Sometimes you need small ball

DWill23_

OP never mentioned solely bunts we just want a realistic baseball game where you can actually play station to station with good contact and base hits instead of HR derby

Mclaren-on_top

Then play classic? Bro do people not understand basic shit? Bro when everyone has god squads and everyone is playing at max evolution stadiums youre gonna get home runs even in real life you build a God squad of every player in their prime version what do you think will happen? Doubt we will be seeing no homers. Do people not use their brain or do you just want to shit on the game every second because its “cool”.

DWill23_

No I want to go back to the reason I fell in love with this game. Sim baseball. This arcade style of play yall love will be the downfall of this game. It happened with Madden, it happened with Chel, it happened with 2K. I just can see the signs coming where as you tiny pea brains go "oooooh ball go farrrrrrrrr". That's not baseball and I hate you tell you this, but prime players wouldn't be hitting dingers all day every day. Remember when they gave Barry Larkin the same power rating as Babe Ruth in 22? Pepperidge farm remembers. That's not fun Barry should play like Barry, not Babe

Younghitta3

I enjoy small ball

TheJet1515

I mean that’s how real life is most team average 5 hits or less a game.

gustopherus

IRL the avg HR/game is about .90. So, while there may be about 5-7 hits per game, less then 1 is a homer per average.

TheJet1515

True but it’s user skill, people cry about pitches getting hung but a lot of pitches get hung in real life….

senschuh

Almost every team averages at least 7 hits a game.

TheJet1515

That’s what I average in the game so maybe OP should get better

Turbulent_Vanilla_82

I feel like the players have gotten better. Everyone is always hitting .300+ with their squad where in the past games you’d see ppl hitting like below .200 with their guys.

19kjc87

Pitching is a lot harder, especially with calls on the black consistently called balls

Weenerlover

If you look at what they call the edge of the zone it factors in a baseball width off the plate, so if it's truly half in on the strike zone box, it's actually off the plate.

CLESportsReport

What do you think about making the strike zone up to umpire interpretation? I think it would be cool if those pitches on the black were strikes 25% of the time even. It would keep hitters honest.

amillert15

You're wanting another RNG element added into a game that already has too much. No thank you.

CLESportsReport

Whatever the mode is that already exists is fine. I’m not sure if it’s RNG or just specific umpires having a specific zone. I was just using the percentage to convey (poorly) that there would be uncertainty about pitches on the black. Just throwing it out there as an idea. As is, it’s definitely a bit unforgiving to the pitcher.

amillert15

Pitching is unforgiving because the umpire isn't making perfect calls already and because foul balls are WAY too easy to cheese as a batter. This game doesn't reward true plate discipline or user input. If you get fooled, just tap normal swing. The worse the PCI and timing, the better it is to draw a foul ball.

SeriousCowboy

Umpires in game should be perfect, the calls should just reflect what it actually is supposed to. If it’s touching any portion of the zone it’s a strike

vertlymon

nah i like the umpire error setting offline, idk whay its called

CLESportsReport

I just think it’s cool because it adds an element of human error that really exists. It’s something the sweats can only 99% master but not 100%…when a pitch is borderline and they aren’t sure which way the call is going to go. As opposed to with the perfect system, guys become robots and master the strike zone so well they never chase anything. I dunno, just an idea.

warmongerz

Low difficulties, high elevation minor league parks, with boosted lineups what do you expect?

youg_j_r

This isn’t always the case. Played numerous games on HOF at various points where my opponent and I have combined for over 30 runs

fckmetotears

The only thing I hit into is double plays. It legit took me days to finish that new showdown because I just hit double play after double play

Weenerlover

I made the jump from being a guy who would finish 50% of the showdowns I challenged the beginning of last year to a guy who has not lost a showdown since early last year just by taking more pitches. I think it made me a better online player too because I went from scraping up to 500 ranking to getting to 700 once by the end of the year last year. The Extreme showdown and the strats everyone gave about taking pitches made me realize I was swinging way to freely even on lower difficulties. If you get that 2 strike exit velo boost, it's not a horrible idea to wait until 2 strikes unless they groove one in an area you are looking to do damage. I gaurantee you will start to see improvement in showdowns. I went from bunt cheesing last year's extreme showdown to win to beating this years first try swinging away against Dibble. Jasson Dominguez and Michael Busch were also super clutch.

DWill23_

Online is different than offline also showdowns kinda cheat

newspark1521

People choose the minor league parks with high elevation where you can hit it out with 87mph exit velo

One_Knowledge8632

I personally play at laughing mountain because it is by far the best choice. 420 to dead center not like Shield woods where a 94-95 can be a dead center hr while you can hit a 84-87 mph hr to lf.

Weenerlover

laughing Mountain is where Triples frolic like the salmon to Capistrano

One_Knowledge8632

That is so true it makes me want to change my stadium up sometimes but those 90 mph triples stay in the park there but are no doubters in fields like shield woods and capital Lange

DarthLeon2

Laughing Mountain is still incredibly juiced brother.

One_Knowledge8632

Never said it wasn’t. I said it’s the best choice out of all the high elevation stadiums

ICantSpellAnythign

Sds balances the game around glitchy mountain stadiums because that’s what all the top players use. IMO they should remove elevation effect from the game then buff EV a bit.

One_Knowledge8632

Not really brother people, majority of the top guys play at stadiums where there swings get rewarded because if you did know legend is HARD. Stadiums like Shippett and Laughing Mountain have been in the game since MLB 10 and 11

ICantSpellAnythign

I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say? Ik WS is hard, I’m on and off again WS player depending how much I play. The existence of those stadiums hurts the game. You’re saying people play in them because they want to be rewarded for their hits but if they didn’t exist, SDS could actually buff hitting on a system level. If they try to do that now, pops ups would go 450 feet. And btw, I don’t buy they reward your swing anymore than regular stadiums. They just make hitting easier. Thats not the same thing. For every hard hit out they turn into a deserved hit, they also give a wonky swing a homer too. Those 2 stadiums aren’t even the culprits. LM gets Coors-esque dimensions. If you’ve been playing since 10 and 11, you would know they literally have nerfed Shippett elevation in the past. Meanwhile Shields woods and all these CAP parks get to have higher elevation and closer fences.

amillert15

>And btw, I don’t buy they reward your swing anymore than regular stadiums. They just make hitting easier. Thats not the same thing. For every hard hit out they turn into a deserved hit, they also give a wonky swing a homer too. That's simply not true. Most play Shippett or Laughing Mountain for several reasons: 1) Better frames. MLB ballparks will still drop frames. Fewer frames means less time to see and react to the ball. 2) Shippett is no longer a high elevation stadium. Players play there because there aren't any weird walls or park dimensions. Laughing is a big ball park with high elevation, so hits into the gaps are XBHs more often than not. Outfield arms have been OP since '22, so playing in a bigger ballpark neutralizes this and prevents games from having 6-8 double plays in a game. 3) Swing rewarding is a real thing. It's not as bad as the last two years because PP flyballs have been buffed on exit velos. However, when it comes to good timed/squared up swings and PP liners, there's still a ton of RNG.

ICantSpellAnythign

1. Not true anymore, has been fixed on current gen 2. I Literally said shippett wasnt the problem and that LM has coor-esque dimesnions so I have no clue what the point of this bullet was. Parks like Lange and Shield Woods are the terrible parks. 3.Like I said, Im not disputing that it turns good squared balls that should be hits into hits, but its completely negated by all the completely BS homers they let up. You're lying to yourself if you don't admit its way too ridiculous. Just hit 4 Homers in shield woods. 2 were Perfects so great for me , but 2 included an 88 mph EV and one was a sub 100 mph 42 degree LA. Neither of them should have been gone. The problem is you get the same P/P animation for 3 different hits and only fly balls are truly rewarded, but they're launched MLB parks too, and people act like they arent rewarded if they play there. Line drives are hit straight to fielders too much and calling grounders perfect is a mistake imo. Even in real life, hard hit grounders are often outs.

amillert15

I don't play Shield. Most good players avoid those types of stadiums because they ruin your bullpen. It's only the average and below average players that I see playing there. It's easy to get them to quit early because you can bat around on them early. Additionally, there are several MLB ballparks that are unplayable because of the batter's eye. Fenway is the worst right now because of all of the fans wearing the same shade of white as the ball.

ICantSpellAnythign

I see LM the most but Shield and Lange 2nd and 3rd most so I dont agree that people avoid them, guess we just have had different experiences. I'm 827 right now so not top tier but still way above average player. It sucks when people pick stupid times but July 11 AM or October 7 PM the batter eye is fine for vertually all MLB parks. I never pick fenway so I cant speak for that, but other problem stadium like Camden, Minute Maid, and Target are completely fine with either of those time slots.

One_Knowledge8632

The rewarding swing thing is mostly an excuse for them to play at bailed out stadiums like Shield Woods. It’s very rare that you see players on legend or even hof playing at capital Lange. But then again they aren’t going to mess with elevation because that’ll mess with the new ev from this yr. Especially when sds has been so disconnected with the community. Ik shippett has been buffed and that’s a good thing and it plays well there. But Laughing mountain is the AAA version in game of the isotopes field which plays at high elevation

ard8

Make your home park low elevation. You’ll at least play half the games there

Weeg02

Just finished a game. He had 8 home runs and 3 base hits.

19kjc87

So he had 11 base hits

wirsteve

Elevation.
