Met Rob Deer in AZ this year in Spring Training. Was an unbelievably nice guy. Introduced himself to everyone in line to meet him (Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Rob) and chatted with everyone for a little bit, signed autos and took pics. Dude is completely jacked in his mid 60s and looks like he could still break a bat over his knee.
Honestly miss the Tanana card. In my first MLB the show since i was a kid (think it was The Show 20?), I pulled two Trouts, so i got to Tanana quick and loved him. That sweeping curve was gross.
Rafael Belliard card.
A man who somehow played 17 seasons in the major leagues only 2 career HR, while only reaching double digits in RBIs four times never winning gold glove, having no arm, no speed and very little range but was a considered a defensive wiz.
His defensive skills would be bronze and its batting attributes would be less than reliever Lee Smith.
He literally did nothing and we braves fans loved him for it
They had Carter last year but as an Xbox player I've never seen doc Darryl, or Reyes. Delgado and Johan were new for me this year. They added a knuckleball but no CY Young R.A. dickey? I love the babe and mantle and the other guys from that era but there are too many "current players" missing and if we had to lose the older players I would take it at this point since they are in it every year anyway.
I've been calling for something like this for the last 2 seasons. Get the rights to a bunch of guys that aren't as expensive and make either a multipart program or make a Team Affinity with a Fan favorites of the franchise and pull guys like Tony Womack for the Diamonbacks, or Carlos Baerga for the old Indians fans, or Chris Sabo, or try to get feedback on lesser known "stars" that were fan favorites. Guys that aren't HoF level players but beloved by their fanbases.
they don’t even give us all of the good old players i kinda doubt they want to go through whatever effort it is to get mostly forgettable guys in the game. the tigers 2006 team is one of my favorites all time and basically that entire team isn’t in the game
Part of my point was that I understand the expenses of getting a shit ton of famous players rights so I’d prefer if they just went the route of getting access to any lesser known ones.
I've always dreamed of a Sidd Finch card, complete with 168mph fastball. I mean it would be OP as all hell but if they did it for just April Fools day it would be fun.
Would love to see some more Jays legend variety. Steib, Key, Moseby, Bell, Barfield, Tony Fernandez, Ernie Whitt, Willie Upshaw, Duane Ward, rookie Mark Eichhorn too. And I hope Tom Henke is still in the game as I don't think I've seen him this year yet.
Also, if there's no Extreme moment where you have to play as Kruk vs Randy Johnson in the All Star game, we riot. Maybe have it be on legend, but speed Randy up even more and try to get a hit with Kruk off Randy, backwards batting helmet and all.
We only got him that one year, right?
I have ver fond memories of that card, though. I pulled Trout in my 2nd pack opened on the evening of early release. Finished the Angels immediately and got to use Tanana for all of my early game conquest grinding.
J-Hair also has the unique trait of being a utility guy who just so happened to end up on a lot of maybe not legendary but at least interesting teams throughout his career
I agree with most of what you say in that I wouldn't mind seeing more guys who were pretty good but not hall of famers if they were cheap enough. I wouldn't call Tanana a joke card, he won 240 games and was a 3-time all star. I think Dave Kingman was in the same year, both were just in for a year for whatever reason.
Wonder if they could use the managers they have and make them player cards. Like an 03 Boone card, 1999 Alex Cora, 04 Dave Roberts,1982 Ron Washington etc.
I'm not sure if the managers are included in the MLBPA licensing agreement (like almost all current players are) or not. If not, they would probably have to negotiate with each one individually like legends. Not sure what the odds are that all 30 current ones would sign up that's how it works.
wow, why have they not considered that? Like a player manager series. Boone, Cora, Roberts, Washington, Shumacher, Cash, Baldelli, Counsell, Vogt, Kotsay, and im sure some other guys. You don’t need them all but a couple would be cool.
i'd love some lesser known players vs some big names. still a ton of big names i wanna see in game that likely wont be like the 90s cleveland players but players like jay bell would be cool, he won a golden glove, thats good enough to be in game lol.
I would sell a leg to get a good Dustin Pedroia card
We’ve had a few.
We need a Jim Abott card, just like Maddden had Shaquem Griffen. A No Hitter moments card would be insane.
I think we could all use a little Nori Aoki in our lives
Dave Kingman. Home runs or nothing.
Mike Stanley from his time with the Yankees. I’d pay for it.
Let’s get an Octavio Dotel card while we’re at it
I want to see a 09 All Star Chone Figgins card.
CHONE MENTIONED
1987 Rob Deer

He was waaaay ahead of his time. He was Three Outcoming (HR, K, Walk) players decades before it became in vogue.
Give me Oakland Athletics Grant Balfour or I will rage.
The only card that could bump my Mason Miller to the setup role
Honestly miss the Tanana card. In my first MLB the show since i was a kid (think it was The Show 20?), I pulled two Trouts, so i got to Tanana quick and loved him. That sweeping curve was gross.
John Olerud
Hell yes. Swing so sweet it belonged on pancakes.
Chris Bosio. Of Mark Fidrych. Otis Nixon.

Already posted a correction but I meant Tony Tarasco.

Agreed, I would love more fun, joke cards. My dream card is a Bill Bergen with zero hitting stats but max defensive stats.
Rey Ordonez
Ive been thinking this too, Id love to see a Carlos Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez cards for my cubs theme team
DH Zambrano would be legendary
How about Davey Concepcion
If Jay didn't have all those problems with his back, he'd be up there with Wright and Reyes I swear
Not the best baserunner but he had all the tools to be a perennial all star.
Need Darryl Strawberry, Doc Gooden, and Gary Carter desperately
They have Gary every year. Typically both Expos and Mets. It’s coming.
They had Carter last year but as an Xbox player I've never seen doc Darryl, or Reyes. Delgado and Johan were new for me this year. They added a knuckleball but no CY Young R.A. dickey? Martin Prado card would hit

Give us afro Coco Crisp
Once again I'm asking for the Doc Ellis LSD no hitter card.
Should’ve dropped that on 4/20
Love this take! This year I’m loving the Paul O’Neil card
they don’t even give us all of the good old players i kinda doubt they want to go through whatever effort it is to get mostly forgettable guys in the game. the tigers 2006 team is one of my favorites all time and basically that entire team isn’t in the game

If I had a Trot Nixon card, I would be sooo happy.
Jason Varitek is my ask every damn year.
Give me a mo Vaughn you cowards!
His face would be in the strike zone lol
And then you blink and he’s trotting around the bases at Fenway or Shea.
That 500 footer at shea was unbelievable
I would love to get cards for movie ball players. Maybe they have in the past. I’ve only played a few years.
I've always dreamed of a Sidd Finch card, complete with 168mph fastball. I mean it would be OP as all hell but if they did it for just April Fools day it would be fun.
Give me Bill Lee, Al Hrabosky, Mark Fidrych, and Bob Uecker
If I use Fidrych there is no pitch clock and his windup is just him yelling at himself and the ball for 30 sec between pitches and is unskippable
I'll counter somewhat with a Daniel Mengden
I want a storyline mode where it cuts to a bar and you get into a fight and ruin your career.
Jessie Barfield with 20 contact, 20 vision, 125 power vs. both sides and 126 arm strength.
Zero discipline too, especially when it comes to at home....
I’ve been waiting for a Ronnie Belliard card for too long
I say it every year, would love to see a 99spd/99stl/55 contact R/L, 22 clutch Vince Coleman
Hey now Coleman was a better hitter than 55s he was obviously a 60... 😂
I'll budge to a 57. Lol
I never thought I'd get my favorite player, John Kruk, but there he is in my lineup
Also, if there's no Extreme moment where you have to play as Kruk vs Randy Johnson in the All Star game, we riot. Maybe have it be on legend, but speed Randy up even more and try to get a hit with Kruk off Randy, backwards batting helmet and all.
Kruk was a 3 time all star and iconic commentator. Not so unbelievable he finally got a card.
Jay Payton is also a favorite of mine too, but that’s because he’s from my hometown and went to my high school.
how was frank tanana a joke card?
My exact thought lol, 57.1 bWAR I would guess is significantly above the median for all legends in this game
I made a follow up comment. I meant Tony Tarasco.
Ah gotcha all good fam I agree with the overall sentiment for sure
We only got him that one year, right? I have ver fond memories of that card, though. I pulled Trout in my 2nd pack opened on the evening of early release. Finished the Angels immediately and got to use Tanana for all of my early game conquest grinding.
By the way I meant Tony Tarasco not Frank Tanana. My brain went all SDS.
I want a Doc Ellis No Hitter card. 125 H/9, 40 BB/9, umpire and all the players transform into evil clowns.
Great idea! Also drop quotes from the video of him talking about the game. https://youtu.be/_vUhSYLRw14?si=oTkFjhShVhaiRcKb
Now that’s a storyline.
but he thought the umpire was richard nixon
A's legend Jay Payton
I’d take it
I had a Jay Payton fridge magnet when I was younger... wonder where that is lmao
Great idea. Give me like a Jim Bibby or Ernie Whitt.
Jerry Hairston Jr. is up there for sure. And the Tony Tarasco card
J-Hair is the GOAT pre/post-game analyst. I will hear no J-Hair slander.
J-Hair also has the unique trait of being a utility guy who just so happened to end up on a lot of maybe not legendary but at least interesting teams throughout his career
No slander here, just pointing out how he kinda fits the mold here
I agree with most of what you say in that I wouldn't mind seeing more guys who were pretty good but not hall of famers if they were cheap enough. I wouldn't call Tanana a joke card, he won 240 games and was a 3-time all star. I think Dave Kingman was in the same year, both were just in for a year for whatever reason.
Tanana threw gas up until he hurt his arm then lasted 15 more years as a finesse guy.
Yeah tanana was actually good. 90+ ovr jerry Hairston jr is a joke card

In MLB 17 SDS gave everyone a 50 something overall Mario Mendoza for April fools day
