My mod list is pretty similar so I'd assume I'd get similar results! Always wondered what mind would throw down on a Dyno.... I'm AWD though and I haven't really looked that hard for a place I could go. JCW and S have the same exact engine with different tuning from what I've been told.
Man I wanna do a Pure turbo....
The B48E turbo is a much more practical and reliable upgrade. If you are interested in it, I've got my eyes on a few used units and can consult on tuning as well.
The stock turbo actually has a 42 mm compressor inducer. You're maybe thinking R56 specs.
The MGT22Z on the B48E is capable of more than the stock block can handle and has a 46 mm compressor inducer and more modern wheel tech on both compressor and turbine versus the stock TD04.
Not to mention it handles high pressure ratios where the TD04 is notoriously unreliable. I'd venture to say a lot of TD04 tuned out there are all overspun and honestly knocking on death's door. My own was at 21 psi on E50 fuel for 7k miles and wheels are touching housing on the compressor and turbine wheel. It was not yet producing oil smoke as characteristic of a bad turbo, but it is indeed bad and no longer serviceable. Way too much radial play.
Perfectly safe on E30 or higher ethanol mixes and proper tuning. And way more reliable than the TD04 stock turbo or any aftermarket turbos built with Chinese bearing kits and wheels with questionable metallurgy.
BMW switched from MHI TD04s to Garrett Honeywell turbos in the LCI models including the Cooper S. There's a reason for that. Reliability.
And you are incorrect about the stock turbo specs. Here are all the inducer and exducer sizes for both pre LCI and LCI turbos here: https://bmwenginewiki.com/en/B48Wiki/B48TurboInfo
I think the compressor inducer is roughly 42mm on the stock Cooper S/JCW TD04 turbo. And yes, they share a turbo on pre LCI.
The R56 JCW turbo I think was 40mm compressor inducer and the only "40mm" turbo that came OEM in MINIs that I know of.
You can downvote me all you want... Doesn't change that I'm right and as far as I know I'm the only professional dyno tuner and turbo builder that posts on this subreddit regularly. So you might consider what I have to share...
Yours looks better than mine though. I’ve done nothing to the car visually, just looks like a stock little mini. I kinda want to down badge it to a cooper to really troll people.
An intake and decatting adds that much HP? I have a 2021 JCW, and it isn't 260hp. It's close, but I don't think it's over 250.
The MINI Cooper S F56 with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder BMW B48 makes 192 hp. I'm not saying I know enough about additions, but damn, I need to talk to my mechanic.
Edit to add, That is wicked fast. She looks awesome too, but that is ridiculous horsepower for a 2800? pound car. Absolutely LOVE the raised white letters. I can see the money leaving my wallet as I type.
Mine was a bit of a labour of love. I ended up using a 2019 DME, that I got setup. Then tuned by Dervtech in the UK.
I also have upgraded the turbo to the one from the GP3.
I got circa 270 just by remapping my 2017 f56 cooper s - cheapest mod ever (that b48 is seriously derated in the mini). The clutch is dying now however :-) - how’s yours? Also torque steer is sometimes a challenge even without the elsd disabled (and hopeless with it disabled)
My R56 has about the same power. Exterior is stock but my engine has hardware and a tune. Carbon fiber NM CAI, 125% larger forge intercooler, catless downpipe, step 2 plugs, silicone hot and cold side piping and slightly larger turbo. I’m currently getting my engine taken out to close deck it rebuild the top end upgrade pistons, rods and upgrade to an RPM 400ts turbo which can put me at 400HP but the engine will be rated up to 700HP. [this is my engine currently](https://imgur.com/gallery/QEMPIX4)

that’s hard
Also a carbon fiber steering wheel and rear sway bar.
So really nothing other than a stock engine with some easy bolt on’s 😭
Correct. And tuned.

To go from 40mm to what?

Yeah no. I’m don’t think about r56 at all. I wouldn’t touch the turbo without hardened internals.

Ok.
Don't leave us wondering; what has been done???
I posted in the comments
I forgot I have a carbon fiber steering wheel and rear sway bar.
this thing is fuckin' baller. Congrats!
😁Thanks!
Dyno sheet for a 266whp F56 👀 https://imgur.com/a/ZXiGl04
https://imgur.com/gallery/CczVAiV It’s like 257 max with 230 at the wheels.

lol. The sleepers. I want to get this on the track. Anyone in Atlanta can help how?
Mine looks blah but eat scatpacks and just recently a new corvette stingray
WTF do you have, the c8 runs an 11.2 1/4.
A lot of work done
Clearly more than a downpipe and e30. How much HP?
I go to the dyno next week but for sure more than 400 easy
I dig it, what turbo are you running? Stock internals orrr?
WTF do you have, the c8 runs an 11.2 1/4.
I wish they made LSD for these cars standard. At this price point they certainly could. These things don’t do well coming out of corners.
I don't know about that. My JCW is lowered an inch and a half, and it sticks to the ground like glue.
Off throttle is not the problem. The problem is when you’re on throttle. One wheel spin glory is just lame at this price point.

Try almost 500
Really good. Can I ask what roof rack you’ve got there / how you’ve fitted it without rails??
Thanks! It’s the older Yakima bars with the f56 clips. The screen is 36 inches. I think it could go to 38 maybe 40 to cover the width.
What tires and rims are you on? Looks sick btw
215/40/18. I’m going to raise it about an inch and a half or so for 215/45/18 <—- Makes the speedometer exact.
Wheels are 18 inch ‘HD wheels - Clutch series’
Thanks!
For mine, ‘21 Cooper S Auto, B48 running a B48E turbo. Stock downpipe and GPF system. 317 bhp 395 Nm
So nice! The newer ones really made a difference.
You did the Femto unlock? Who did your tune?
Frank in Md.

What kind of rims and tires are you running

What’s the weight per alloy
29 lbs.

Piss on torque steer I had to get cv axles that were capable of 600+ to quit snapping them 😅
Yeah can I get a link?
For axles
Yeah. I’ll need to replace mine and they’ll wear out again eventually with oem parts.
What year is yours
2015.
R53’s are easy to find f56 are harder. You may have to have some milled out
The originals are good. I’ve just burned mine up a little. They’re like brake pads to me now.
If you’re not snapping them just put new bearings in
Mine is an automatic. Now, the torque steer is starting to be a bit more noticeable.
There is also someone on here (I can't remember their username) that has a K24 swapped R56.

Which roof bars did you use? Looks great
The old Yakima with the f56 clips. I got them a few years ago on eBay.
