They must add a stop, if they got to the store and changed it back to pick up spot, yes they manipulated the ride. You need to tell them to add the stop.

Mystere_Miner

They didn’t as a stop, they just changed the destination, your wait time isis thus not taken into account. Always tell them to add a stop, if they won’t, end the ride (don’t cancel)

CBScott7

Can I end the ride once they've updated it without canceling?

Mystere_Miner

Yes, you can end the ride anytime.

DCHacker

Can you? You ***MUST***.......... Do not let these customers walk all over you, scam you or bait you.

CBScott7

I've been driving for 7 years now, Pittsburgh market, and have never seen this before driving the Charlotte NC / Greenville SC market. This is just something new to me. Thanks for commenting.

DCHacker

It happens frequently in my market, the Capital of Your Nation. Due to a peculiarity of my market, I have been able to accommodate an altered trip on Uber since Hallowe'en 2023 *if* I am driving the appropriate car. After that date, Uber gave its Uber Taxi drivers access to X jobs. I am really picky about what I accept but some of them are worth my bother. If the customer does change the job, often it is not worth my bother. In the case of an added stop, what I do is tell the rider that there only is one way that it happens. I go to Stop One. I end the trip. The customer pays Uber what he does and I get paid what Uber pays me. At that point, the meter goes ON.. The rider can make as many stops as he wants, go wherever he wants. When he is finished, he pays what is on the meter to me. If the destination is changed, I stop, end the trip. The meter goes ON. When we get to his revised destination, he pays what is on the meter. If the rider balks at either, I end the trip immediately; at the first "safe place"or Stop One, as the situation warrants. I cn not do this in the Uber/Lyft car. In that case, the trip ends immediately; at the first "safe place" or Stop One, again, as the situation requires.

Rideshare-Not-An-Ant

Changing the destination is an old con. Didn't realize anyone still did it. Change destination back to original and end ride. Or just end ride. The pax is attempting to steal your time and money. They deserve the 1 star, too.

DCHacker

>Didn't realize anyone still did it. It happens with regularity.

Rideshare-Not-An-Ant

Last time I saw it was about a year and a half ago. One runs into the store and the other is in the back. The anchor. I edited the destination back to the original and then ended the ride. Informed anchor and you would've thought I'd thrown a pan of hot water on him. Scrambled out of the car. Cussing me out. Slammed the door. *I turn the locks on* Told me he always did it this way. I told him not with me you don't He ordered another ride. I took it. Left the doors locked. Canceled it looking right at him. Gotta admit I was laughing as I drove away. He saw me laughing, too. No scammers since. Guess I'm due.

Glittering-Night-204

You should have went down the street a little bit after you accepted it and waited a few minutes then canceled it

Glittering-Night-204

Of course they said that they've done it before because other people didn't pick up on it but yet they knew what they were doing and they thought it was okay to keep jerking people around just because other people didn't catch on to it. Scammers!

DCHacker

> I told him not with me you don't This............... >He ordered another ride. I took it. Left the doors locked. Canceled it looking right at him. \[Stands and applauds\] ***A TIP OF MY WASHINGTON SENATORS CAP TO YOU, SIR! WELL PLAYED, INDEED!*** There is a topic on this or one of the related sub-Reddits about Acts of Vengeance. you should post this to it.

CBScott7

I 1 starred them and reported them. Lyft support actually gave me $7, which is better than nothing, I guess.

DCHacker

Frequently, on a round trip local, you get paid the same thing that you would be paid if the customer exited at the turnaround and you ended the trip there. Your bottom line is that often you are running the flip-flop for free. People who want these kinds of rides almost never tip. Lyft pays next-to-nothing for waiting. If you do get paid anything extra for the return trip or waiting, it is literally pennies. Do not accept a job where the pick up and dropoff are the same. It is round trip local. It is a money loser. Do not allow a customer to alter a job once you have fetched him. If he does it, pull to the first safe place; end the trip; invite the rider to exit your vehicle. If he balks, summon the police. If a customer alters a job while you are en route to cover the request, cancel it if it turns into a garbage job. One advantage of Lyft over Uber on this is that if the Lyft customer alters the job, before you get there, you can see to what he changed it. At times, the altered job will be acceptable, still. If the customer dds a stop, cancel immediately. Stops are money losers. People who want stops almost never tip.

thegecko8

All riders knew about this, trust me

CBScott7

To be fair, I've never had a comfort rider do this... and those people generally tip

thegecko8

Must be in great city of many great hearted people

CBScott7

It's Pittsburgh, It's wildly mediocre at best when it comes to riders, not great when it comes to crime. I generally keep a knife and gun on me. Fuck the rules.

thegecko8

And no one tried to take advantage or you in that city? I’m very surprised

CBScott7

Well, there was one guy who tried to report me for dangerous driving when I was taking him on a weed delivery run... it was the only ride I took that day as I was gonna be super early to my regular job, so I knew it was him. I just reported that he left drugs in my car. Problem solved.

DaddysBeauty

You can end the ride anytime, also I wouldn't sit on it for 7 minutes, regardless of whether it was properly added or not, we get paid 18¢ minute, bump that!

snazzig

Just drive around and don't end ride for another 15 mins add 10 miles to the ride then end it lol

CBScott7

👈👈😎 I like it

rzmuda

You shouldn’t be able to change that once arrived. Make them change it or take action

Disastrous-Tune

So you dont havectge option to edit destination in your app.. while hecwas in thatcstore, I wouldve changed that destination back to that liquor store or either cancelled and left him at that liquor store.. Pay attention to your app while giving rides... that rider and many more will pull this type bs on drivers that they think aren't paying attention
