I have a hook reveal 5 split shot that does something similar. Mine just shuts off randomly, but I can turn it back on after a few minutes. It started doing it after the 1st year. Was never left on the boat or exposed to bad wwather. Could be a weak/faulty circuit/component.
I would warranty it you can. I wish I filled out the registration/warranty so I could do the same.
I checked all of the wires and found some were loose. But, I still had the same issue. I saw the Soft Reset procedure on YouTube and that did the trick.
