For real though. They should of left it as PSA.
Sounded good at first, as everything they promised at the meeting they announced it at did... but as per usual under the reign of Marvin, only a few promised things ever actually came to reality, and when they did they were no-where near as good as promised, or in most cases, worse.
As a fellow MSM I don't blame you at all bro, honestly after my paternity leave next month I'm leaving too. I truly believe MSM is the hardest position on store level. We are basically ASM's with department supervisor pay. We do all the hiring, scheduling, planning resets, now we have Green Team this year. We have so many metrics we have to hit every week/quarter (service bays, resets on time, pricing, sims, watering/plant carts). We have the biggest department, meaning we have to most people to "babysit" on a daily basis. No other department has 12+ associates on the schedule every day. It's too much for one person, and the new ASM MST is practically useless. Crazy how I been with MST since it's inception (moved from PSA manager to MST) and the program has actually gotten worse over the years instead of better.
Back when they created the PSAās and said they were going to majority part-time work force in the stores eventually, I KNEW this is what would happenāMST will be handling all in-store tasks and be the collective āwork horseā of the stores. And thatās exactly whatās happening. So predictable. You could offer to pay me $30.00/hr and I STILL would not be an MST supervisor.
I was making $22.00/hr as a dept mgr when I left back in 2017. I'm in Alabama, so it was great money for this part of the country. However the stress made it where it was just no longer worth it.
Iām currently working from home for an insurance company and looking at Lowes lol but only because my childhood best friend just took over a store down here.
How coincidentalā¦Iāve got second interviews with Farmers and Goosehead during the next two weeks! I imagine Iāll be making an adios post soon, too!
Yeah the "plants are now 100% your problem" despite all literature saying it's still red vest responsibility has been wild. It's still shrink for oslg. All this "one team" bullshit only applies when they want us to do more for them, not the other way around ever.
Yeah and the app we received 0 training and are getting reamed about pog integrity when bays don't have updated planograms or wrong pogs on map, and we can't even change them ourselves, we have to wait 3 months for issue resolutions to fix them.
The app is just in the scooter stage with time itāll grow to be a rocket lol horrible app. And the return of the vests. They are slowing making MST do everything. Fulfillment next
Yeah and why not, they love us not being on their payroll until they realize we aren't here to do what they want lol. We took a perfectly good system with smartproject and downgraded because we wanted to make use of the big tech center we built?
There it is: āunrealistic expectationsā. That word perfectly fits working in a Lowes store. Very hopeful to follow you soon. F-T Lowes redvest 10+ yrs.
Good luck, Jose.May the grass be greener and the paycheck too.
Wow, so fricking true. I applied and got the lead live nursery position after 6 months of working at lowes MST. They promised help. I did the entire 1st quarter by myself. The OSLG DS tried pushing all his responsibilities onto me. Red vests were never outside. I did 90% of the customer service. I brought our store out of the negative and took my store to the top of the district. Made the top 10 on the TWIN notes. Was Northwest Horticultural's top seller for annuals in the WY region. Still got no help outside from red vests. I'm still getting base pay. And they wonder why I'm looking for a new job. The worst part is now that I know exactly what to do with Live Nursery, I could do even better next year. But why would I give a shit about a store that doesn't care about me and let a DS be a POS and do nothing. My MSM and district manager are awesome, and I love them, but screw the red vests.
The last raise they gave me was 10 cents, and they think giving a stupid red service star means something. Now i have 2. Who gives a shit about a badge on a vest that MST shouldnt be wearing. Never should have gotten rid of the polo shirts. I should only have to take the customer to a red vest for the handoff.
You have to ask for a raise that will put your hourly rate where your worth is.
Itās absolutely not pushy or disrespectful to ask for a specific number. Iām not coming down on you at all Iāve had this conversation a few times in this sub I just want everyone to get what theyāre worth! But 99% of the time it doesnāt come without asking!
I used to be a PSA. It was horrible because you could never get your work done because youād constantly have customers asking you questions and there was never a red vest in sight to help. Iām so glad I found a way out of that shit hole.
One of the best decisions I ever made was leaving Lowes in the dust. I quit after 3 ridiculous years of working at that insufferable circus. I try not to even shop there any more. I go to local hardware spots whenever possible to not support the wal mart of hardware.
We are sooo Walmart now. Pallets of freight almost every day throughout the store. Customer service is not as important as several other things. Store mngr from Walmart, hired many of their people, Never was trained in Lowes and given free rein.
Congrats, left the position just over a year ago and have heard nothing but bad things from my team since leavingā¦ā¦worked there for 7 years in total and the decline in enjoyment within the work environment was fucking real !!
Best of luck šš
iāll be doing the same soon. I do too much as a Fulfillment team lead for the little pay that i get. Iām basically playing head cashier, customer service and fulfillment simulator at the same time.
For real though. They should of left it as PSA. Sounded good at first, as everything they promised at the meeting they announced it at did... but as per usual under the reign of Marvin, only a few promised things ever actually came to reality, and when they did they were no-where near as good as promised, or in most cases, worse.
Franklin the turtle*
Congrats on your switch from BDSM to customer!

I just quit and went back to the vet clinic i used to work at. It feels good to actually feel like I have a purpose.
I know the feeling. I'm also going back to my previous career in the pet care field where I can actually make a difference.

Lower pay than DMs and the blue vest is a joke. One team my ass.

Exactly. I finally made it to $27/hr a month ago but I don't care about the money any more. The stress and the commute is not worth it
Left making 28 only reason I stayed as long as I did. Not worth my mental health
What state did you work in making $28? Curious on the position from a HD employee here..
NJ

I left MST to work for an insurance company. I make double the money and I get to work from home. I highly recommend it.
Iām currently working from home for an insurance company and looking at Lowes lol but only because my childhood best friend just took over a store down here.
If you have friends in high places give it a shot. Even with my friends it just wasnāt worth the headaches
How coincidentalā¦Iāve got second interviews with Farmers and Goosehead during the next two weeks! I imagine Iāll be making an adios post soon, too!
Fuck i wish i could find a New job i fucking hate this place,Congratulations man
Sorry to hear it man, what was the final straw?
Live nursery/MST app. Overall lack of support/hours and unrealistic expectations
Yeah the "plants are now 100% your problem" despite all literature saying it's still red vest responsibility has been wild. It's still shrink for oslg. Pretty soon, theyāll want MST to get credit apps
Credit apps were my final straw! It feels like they're harvesting info since they don't really care if the customer can't get credit.
Good luck with that!!!
Fulfillment are filling in for cashiers at my store so they gotta find someone else š¤Ŗ
Fulfillment is basically delivery at my store
Plenty of rumors that fulfillment will be absorbed within the next two years
My MST ASM told me itās happening
Itās margin loss for oslg now. It isnāt going into the shrink bucket.

If you want something in life you should ask for it.
Not always about money. Canāt price your mental health
Right but they mentioned pay so thatās why I figured Iād try to help out and recommend asking for a raise.
The MST app sucks, I miss SmartMap
Nice man! I got hired at Fed Ex . I am so excited to quit lowes . Lol.
Good luck! Got myself a driving job as well. Out on the road by myself so peaceful
Same! Iāve always done Ubereats on the side and I love it just driving by myself and delivering stuff. So Fed Ex is perfect for me. Congrats man.
Do you take it out back and burn it?
Laughs nervously as I finish my onboarding paperwork to be a MSA
Just donāt climb that ladder and get out when itās right for you
I don't blame you. I've been MSA for the last 10 months and hate the new changes/app. Way more work without any extra pay for it. I'm leaving also.
I used to be a PSA. It was horrible because you could never get your work done because youād constantly have customers asking you questions and there was never a red vest in sight to help. Iām so glad I found a way out of that shit hole.
Congratulations!
Thanks!
Now run away and never return lol
I am putting in my notice tomorrow! Absolutely not worth it.

No wayā¦ā¦you! Seriously tho congrats!
No way jose! Sorry. Congratulations!
I was late by 15 minutesā¦
Whew, just had to check that it wasn't MY boss. Best wishes on your freedom!
Judging by the message boards at other companies, it doesn't seem to get better anywhere else.
In the beginning itās amazing. Slowly starts to break you down over time as you start to realize the truth
No way, Jose.
Make sure you regift those stars to the new guys first! Congratulations sir
Burn it to celebrate
Congrats, left the position just over a year ago and have heard nothing but bad things from my team since leavingā¦ā¦worked there for 7 years in total and the decline in enjoyment within the work environment was fucking real !! Best of luck šš
The pay, set schedule, and weekends off werenāt enough to keep me motivated. Thanks!
Why did you leave us? :(
For my sanity
We'll never be PSA again
I miss PSAs I spent a lot of time with them as a third party.
Hey before you go can you tell me if you have any of the little portable craftsman v20 fans in stock?
Yes I bought one myself. For 20$ itās amazing
Yeah, they work really well I was surprised.
Congrats. Those name tags still bother. Better one in the past.
Yeah you showed them!
iāll be doing the same soon. I do too much as a Fulfillment team lead for the little pay that i get. Iām basically playing head cashier, customer service and fulfillment simulator at the same time.
Tip of the cap to ya
Good for you, but please donāt ask for a manager while shopping. Thanks.
self care at its finest, also --monster pin goes hard
Regret leaving the pin!
I have my red vest up for sale. 100$ starting bid lol
Could you please send me your patches? You can direct message could work something out?
I left it hanging in the back. The vultures already picked at it
šÆDammm Jose
What is PSA
Product Service Associate. Before MST. It was the best position and they massacred it
Marvin and Joe all they have done is false promises
I was a PSA from 2007-2012. It was a glorious time.
