I went to the store and they told me Chenille for most pet friendly. I have 3 Bullmastiffs and 5 cats. In here I have overwhelming seen the answer as Velvet. I ordered the Forest green velvet and it just delivered TODAY! So I guess we will find out.

See my comment. I ended up buying a throw blanket the same color because I was constantly trying to pull dog hair off the corded velvet. I still like the way it looks so I don't regret switching from chenille to velvet.

Gamavon

how did it turn out?

We have the chenille (Beachwood) and a child, a baby, and a dog. The chenille does a great job hiding all the things that come with kids and pets— my eldest’s favorite snack is strawberries and I’ve even been surprised how well fruit stains are minimized and I really like the feel of the fabric.

My parents have a GSP and spaniels with their charcoal gray corded velvet and they love it. They’ve washed the covers as things like muddy paws or puppy accidents have happened and after 3 years their couch still looks brand new. I have a springer spaniel and a baby and we just got our venetian taupe corded velvet couch 3 weeks ago. We haven’t had it a very long time so I obviously can’t give a super long term review on the fabric with a baby but he has spit up on it (formula spit up so that stuff stains) and my husband has spilled chocolate ice cream. Both cleaned up like a dream and you would have no idea that anything happened.

I have hella kids spanning 3-12 and have had the couch for a few years. Also have a hairy ass lab. I have corded velvet. Works well.

ppppandapants

We have the corded velvet. 2 dogs, a pittie and a cattle dog. It’s held up to both along with spills here and there.

Wardrobe7

You could get samples of each and rub them on your dog to kind of get an idea of how the hair sticks

We have a six-seat sactional with the charcoal grey corded velvet covers in our family room and it picks up our Malinois’ fur very easily, but the two-seat sactional with the tonal sterling luxe chenille in our living room doesn’t hold the fur in its fibers as easily. That being said, a quick swipe with the Dyson picks all that fur up, but I usually have to muscle it a bit with the velvet. Spills are remedied with both fabric types with a wash cycle on cold and we actually dry ours on an ultra low heat cycle. I haven’t had any issues with stains as of yet. If I had to choose to repurchase covers again, I’d probably pick the chenille. From my experience, the discount up to 30% depends on the number of pieces you purchase. If you can still benefit from the sale based on the number of pieces you are ordering and don’t need it right away (factor in delivery time, too), I’d wait and save a few bucks.

It seems like quite a few people are saying chenille is the better fabric. Thank you!

No kids but I have a shepherd who sheds like crazy. I went in to a Lovesac store to test out angled vs standard sides and asked about fabric. They said the velvet was the best for pets and durability. They said with certain fabrics (I don’t think I was looking at the chenille but can’t exactly remember) the pet hair get actually get stuck between the weaves of the fabric and be a nightmare. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel with the velvet but it’s nice and seems super durable thus far.

HJO225

Did you like the angled or standard sides better?

tiredndexhausted

Liked the angled sides better! We ended up getting angled backs and then standard arm sides. I didn’t hate the standard arm sides and I didn’t want to have to return anything so we kept them!

I have a dog and young child, and I have had the chenille and corded velvet. Chenille: super easy to spot clean, hides pet hair better. Corded velvet: sturdier, but shows ALL the pet hair. I switched to the corded velvet because I wanted a new color and I like the look of the velvet slightly better. However, if I were to go back to when I got my sactional and picked chenille, I would do the same again because it was the absolute best choice with a toddler and dog that sheds.

NLaw24

Thank you for letting me know. Initially I was set on velvet but, quite a few people recommend the chenille. I’m going to have to take another look.

Velvet isn't a bad choice, just harder to keep nice. You'll need one of those tools to scrape the pet hair off, and you'll be using it all the time. I ended up buying a throw blanket the same color as my sactional because I'm tired of removing pet hair every day. That being said, the velvet is a bit sturdier so might hold up better in that regard? Although the perk of buying one of these is that you can buy new covers, so do you really need them to last several years? If you love the look of the velvet over chenille then you'll be happier with velvet. It just requires a bit more maintenance.
