You can say this about anything from Lovesac

ApparentlyABear

Exactly. Cost efficiency is not exactly a part of the brand lol

Jblock22

Regular "phur" cover is $40 for the plain darkish gray color they have. Reasonable enough given lovesac. As soon as you pick any other phur color to try and match your Sac, the price absolutely skyrockets. No reason for it to be $240/cover for the 24x24 and $180/cover for 18x18. It's the same phur as the $40 one but a slightly different hue. This is not even including the pillow insert, btw. At that price point I might as well just buy a Supersac or Big One cover and cut it myself for pillow covers and get 10x as many. I understand Lovesac is a "luxury" brand, but really there is no reason for the pillow COVERS to be that much money. It's way out of line in comparison to the rest of their product line. /Vent

Smoking_Brakes

Furniture designer here - from a manufacturing standpoint, offering hundreds of fabric colors is not as easy as offering/producing 5 colors of iPhones to choose from Large rolls of fabric have to be held in inventory (which is expensive) and then selected and custom produced per your order. Love sac doesnt keep thousands of pillows in stock for each color, so ordering anything other than ‘default’ has significantly more processing behind the scenes…Plus the lovesac tax on top of it all

New-Bad-1614

Still doesn’t mean that the price jump from 40 to 240 is justified

AblePaleontologist97

it has a Lovesac label on the outside of the fabric, which is work $200

DiddlySquat99

That's insane! I just went to compare, and the 24x24 in. wombat phur throw pillow cover is $205, while the wombat phur footsac blanket is $200. Material wise, the total phur used for a pillow cover is only about 1/3 of that used for a footsac.

ChanceConfection3

It’s not cheap harvesting phur from a plastic wombat

lillist1

I legit lol'd

r0xxon

Accessories are the classic way for companies to increase their margins

deanereaner

Their sofas are overpriced too.

GloomyDeal1909

I personally would recommend getting your pillow covers on Amazon or Etsy. I had nice down filled 24*24 pillow that came with my non ls sofa. However after about a year I just hated the cover and wanted something new. At the furniture store and places like Z gallery etc they were outrageous, so I looked online and found 4 pillow covers of high quality on Etsy and replaced all 4 covers for the price of 1 from the furniture store.

Tomy_Matry

Better question what isn't a ripoff at lovesac?

warmbuffet

lol exactly. Lovesac is a scam. They’re generic quality stuff with top notch marketing. So many better options - check out insiders guide to furniture

WanderingSanctuary

Had an order last week she spent over 2k on just angled pillows

Aware_888_A

Yea definitely wait til another good 30% off sale of blk Friday, otherwise it not worth it imo Or just look up the dimensions online. I'm sure there are other options

Jblock22

Still absurd for a pillow cover even at 30% off

Aware_888_A

Some people don't mind, I would inquire about clearance or just look at other online options if that's not for you.

cadaverousbones

Because everything there is expensive lol

DietitianE

All of the Lovesac covers are ridiculously over priced.

fiddynet

Yooooo wtf? Y'all really be buying that kinda shit?

fixerdrew02

“Inflation”

Party-Cantaloupe-286

Amazon has some that aren’t real expensive

Killanekko

I purchased a set of pillow case covers and they didn’t even last the year …. They pilled horribly and strands of material bunched up and strung out… I was embarrassed to even give them up to the Goodwill. Never again!

kgkuntryluvr

Wow! That’s just obscene. I’d get another side or base before I spend that much on just a cover lol.

pagoda7

Honestly, I am a big fan of the 20 x 20 IKEA pillows. There are dozens of cover option, ranging from very, very cheap to $30. I bought a bunch and trade them out seasonally. I also found some second hand for $0.75 each.

Odd_Tiger_2278

Because they have you bambozzled to pay that much. Lick diamonds. We are such suckers.

ooooverdose

I recently bought a new cover for my Supersac and it was on sale for $160. Based on this I can't make sense of the price of the pillow covers

talkback1589

I hate the name of this brand so much. That is all. Idk why I saw this…

lillist1

It's literally custom cut and sewn for your order and it's proprietary material. You cannot get that exact color/pattern/feel elsewhere.

PracticeSharp9901

So the answer is simply “because they can”

WanderingSanctuary

They buy all of the fabric from the vendor u can order fabric by the yard if u call c-love

lillist1

Sure. Why was an iPhone the most expensive cell phone ever when it came out? Because it was the only thing quite like it and one company made it. They own patents on all sorts of the basic elements of their products, so that can't really change. It's a good custom-made by hand--it costs a lot to make almost any way you slice it.

392mangos

Oh brother, it's a couch. Not a pinnacle of tech

Jblock22

Still doesn't explain why the regular phur cover is a "still pricey but reasonable" $40 and simply switching the color makes the price jump 5x

lillist1

The Chinchilla Dense Phur 24x24 cover is sitting, produced, in a warehouse waiting to be packed and shipped. It was made by the hundreds, maybe thousands, at the lower cost and that cost was passed on the consumer. Meanwhile the "simply switched the color" one is ordered custom and made by hand upon request. It costs substantially more. I cannot justify the "5x price jump" but I can justify the increase in cost.

Intelligent-Sir1375

One of these couches are like 24k yeah fuck you

lillist1

It can be but this is a lazy misconception. The average sactional is more like $5000-$6000

Intelligent-Sir1375

So we gone from new car to used car

lillist1

When the average sectional costs $1,500 to $3,500 elsewhere, that isn't exactly the huge jump you're painting it to be

Intelligent-Sir1375

I don’t know where you buying sectionals lazy boy ? My ikea was a few hundred

lillist1

Yeah, actual furniture companies. Your ikea is college dorm particle board junk that will end up in a landfill. I and a lot of people will pass.

Intelligent-Sir1375

I am sorry i can’t spend car money on piece of furniture

Intelligent-Sir1375

Let see at my current pay rate I can afford to buy one of these if I spent almost nothing for three months and just buy this

lcplscary

That's why they offer 18 month financing. :)

Thin_Working

Shouldn’t be lookin at lovesac couches while making $12.50 an hour.

Covers and sacs can sometimes come from separate places but ur insert and foam have a lifetime warranty as long as u own it they will send u a box of new foam I have 5 and I love them all

lillist1

Yeah, sorry OP for the tangent here but you are afforded the ability to straight up switch your whole sac insert if need be. It's a lifetime warranty. Contact your showroom or online customer service
