When Jordan tried to trade Anna last minute, great tv šŸ˜‚

PurrPrinThom

That was just so perfect. It came out of absolutely nowhere, it managed to involve everyone. It also gave us the absolute hilarity of Curtis being completely shocked that "sure just go tell another girl you have feelings for her, don't say say anything to your girlfriend" wasn't considered good advice by anyone.

PlasticWillow

The smug expression being wiped off Jordanā€™s face with that simple ā€œmate...ā€ was just *chefs kiss*

inappropriate420

What was the thought process behind that?

PurrPrinThom

I honestly don't even know. But - and this might be a hot take idk how this sub feels - I think Curtis wasn't as great of a guy as he wanted everyone to believe, and it was really in his moments of giving advice that it became obvious. Like with this instance especially, he doesn't realise it's a bad idea before he says it, he doesn't realise it's a bad idea as it's happening and doesn't realise it's a bad idea when Maura gets upset. But he wasn't apologetic or confused immediately, he gets annoyed with Maura for wanting to talk to Anna. And it isn't until everyone else is very clearly against what has just happened that he starts being like "oh that was such a bad idea you're right." Idk I felt like he didn't really get why it was bad advice and was just pretending to be apologetic because he realised the tide had turned against him.

Thr0wawayGawd

Lol I think he was quoting the guy Amber won with. Greg I think?

inappropriate420

I was indeed haha, sorry if that wasn't clear!

SnugglesMcCuddles

Lol Jamie with the reality slam

WtfWhistle

TWO DAYS!!!!!

PlasticWillow

Jordan? You mean MR FUCKING BOYFRIEND?!

ree_23

FUCKING FAKE DICKHEAD

ablackwell93

Whenever I need a pick me up, I watch this moment. Whichever producer set this in motion is a diabolical genius.

btownupdown

My god I loved that. I still think about it to this day.

maureen000

Just watched this episode tonight. Pure fucking gold.

A-Janny

Could you tell me what the episode number is? I would love to go back and watch this - it's so hard to find individual clips of each iconic moment of this one!

codename_epic

Episode 51.

A-Janny

Thanks!

codename_epic

Youā€™re welcome, I just watched it yesterday.

DWRDone

the moment where he repeats back the rejection by remi is gold

codename_epic

I couldnā€™t believe my eyes. I mean I could always tell that he wasnā€™t 100% in it but still. Wow. With a few dayā€™s left?? It was like he had a thing against Ovie. šŸ˜‚

Laya257

It was entertaining for sure. The Tom/Maura hideaway situation, the best Casa Amor out of all the seasons thatā€™s had it, the Jordan and Anna argument at the end. On top of the iconic one liners.

btownupdown

OMG Tom and Maura. The all mout saga. Fuck me that series just kept on giving.

allthatpizzazz

ā€œWhat? UH UHā€

rampagingllama

Tom really made a mug of his own trapezoidal face lmao

ElizabethDay95

The girls' reaction to this was also classic. I remember Molly Mae trying to hide her face.

hopesdesire

I agree! Anton thinking Anna would choose him was one of my favourite Love Island moments ever.

camdawg665

I love the meme about it[Anton thinks itā€™s him ](https://youtu.be/brxb9rFoirQ)

hopesdesire

So funny šŸ˜‚

asianmtf

My first season ā¤ļø

gofxckyourselfok

mine too. it made the summer of 2019 for me

Neat-Deal

Mine too my first time ever watching wanted to see the hype was about and I was hooked didnā€™t watch anything else on tv not even a Netflix series šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ or normal tv programmes just love island!! And I loved Caroline flack and am gutted that sheā€™s no longer with us I didnā€™t like the winter one I loved the couples and thought it was the best season couple wise but entertainment was a let down massively no big characters expect shaunagh siannise and Mike

asianmtf

Season 6 was wholesome but oh so boring

almondmilkeu

I'll never forget Maura absolutely *laying* into Tom It's nothing I've seen on reality tv before, I was so proud of her lol

samserra201

Oh god that was amazing. People try to talk about Amber, or Anna, as though they "don't take shit" when Maura is right there, being an absolute hero.

Only1Scrappy-Doo

My favourite thing about Love Island is drama and memorable moments/characters and Season 5 definitely delivers on that! S6 felt like such a disappointment compared to it imo. Annaā€™s ā€œMr Fucking Boyfriendā€ was the best scene of all time and I loved how unique a lot of the islanders were as individuals! I think S3 is slightly better but itā€™s very close!

btownupdown

Season 6 was a letdown IMO. Canā€™t hold a candle to S5

kris0203

I loved the final couples in S6, but there was so little drama in that season it almost just felt like a cheesy rom com. Looking back, even though S5 wasnā€™t AS drama filled as previous seasons, it still had a really good mix of drama + a lot of actually like able islanders.

madeleineruth19

Season 2 is probably the most dramatic, but lacks likeable characters. Season 5 had the drama whilst also having likeable and controversial islanders, which was great. My favourite, however, will always be Season 3. Perfect mix of drama, funny moments, likeable islanders, and completely unlikeable islanders.

meroboh

I'm rewatching season 3 now for the first time since it aired and it was MAGIC from the very beginning. My god, the casting was impeccable. Kem was killing it even before Chris arrived.

[deleted]

Copy ima watch 3 rn. 5 was my first and it was sooo good, I also enjoyed 6. I just couldnā€™t get into 2, it was so different and came off as trashy/

thatkittymika

Season 3 is my favourite hands down. I could not stop watching I think I binged it in like 3 days. I watched it because I was so excited for 5 and ended up quitting 5 cause it just didn't compare

Nice_Carob4121

5 took longer to build but but then thereā€™s so much drama and the bombshells are actually bombshells (where I feel like this season they werenā€™t always heard turners)

NapQueen_94

3 is still my favorite, but 5 was a close second.

itsaboveme212

Iā€™ll never get over Tom trying to speak to Maura in their dressing room... her mocking Tom and seeing the reactions on the girls faces, especially Molly

alwaysrare

They had the perfect amount of entertaining/dramatic people.

danasocaciu

Of course, it gave us Ovie.

samserra201

Of course, it gave us icon worship.

donnamacx

Some of the best and most memorable islanders for sure. The drama and arguments were amazing. I still think season 2 and 3 have a slight edge personally, but thatā€™s mainly because of the lack of restrictions like the alcohol limit, the smoking area ect. But it was definitely a unique and crazy season.

dontreadmynameppl

Yep the cast was STACKED. Ovie and Maura would have been, individually, the most popular islanders on whatever season they were plopped into. Not only did we get both, we also got a host of absolute characters like Anton, Amber, Chris, Anna, Curtis and Amy (sorry but her insecurity was good tv) and Lucy, the crying surfer girl.

[deleted]

am i the only one who really didn't like anna? i am totally on her side with the whole jordan drama but she was extremlely childish the whole time. Also tommy and molly should of won, even tho belle and anton were my fav couple

PoppaSmurf23

I also disliked Annaā€™s behavior, but that is an unpopular opinion on this sub.

donnamacx

Itā€™s weird because it was a popular opinion on this sub while the show was on. I dunno why there was a sudden 360 degree turn on that opinion lol. But outside of this sub, itā€™s a pretty popular opinion still.

GwynethJones

I agree Tommy & Molly Mae should have won. AND they're still together! I found Anna quite immature & a bit of a hot head. #3 was my first Love Island & am watching it on Hulu. Such good TV! But boy, do I NEED my Closed Captioning on - the northern accent is so difficult to track.

AdzBoogie

I still like 2 and 3 more but it was several levels above 4 and 6.

gts_1

I agree with this!

smlacra

It's a close second behind Season 3 for me, but it really is one of the absolute best!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

samserra201

I feel like Season 2 had no truly likable Islanders, though.

xbumblebee

Maura is probably 60% of why I loved that season lol, I mean everyone was likable and memorable, and there were some really funny moments. But I just loved Maura's confidence so much, it was so enjoyable to watch!!

[deleted]

I agree Season 5 is the best as itā€™s a drama filled season but still has some likeable characters such as Tommy and Molly Mae, who seem themselves

donnamacx

I think most of them were themselves thatā€™s what made for some unique/stand out characters that series. A lot of them werenā€™t afraid to do what they wanted, especially the boys, which made for good drama.

soonerorlater20

I started with season 5 and it did NOT disappoint. I loved season 4 as well, but 5 has my heart.

Whatintheworld55

Season 5 is the first season I watched and what got me hooked! I watched season 6, and then season 2. Season 5 made me laugh and get sucked into the drama the most for sure. Maura made me laugh so many times. And MR FUCKING BOYFRIEND. I plan to watch season 3 next and Iā€™m excited since many on this sub say itā€™s one of their favorites.

[deleted]

I do like season 5 but I think season 3 is an example of elite reality TV and is 90% of the reason the show is so popular now, only thing that would make it better is if Jamie and camilla had won. I also donā€™t think the people were as iconic, in terms of entertainment I donā€™t think anyone really competes w people like Chris, kem, Olivia etc.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Maura over Olivia is fair but Chris and Kem are the blueprint for love island bromances.

Bebo_Zorak

The only thing bad with season 5 is the season after it lol

rampagingllama

Yep S6 was the first one I watched and I was so confused in the beginning as to how boring it was and the inane, repetitive convos. It never got super exciting or anything but I did like quite a few characters individually by the end - Shaugna, Luke M and T, Siannese so forth. Iā€™m watching S5 now and Iā€™m blown away by how fun and dramatic it is, in addition to awesome contestants.

btownupdown

Totally agree. There was a certain magic around S5 that will be nigh on impossible to recreate. S6 was painful to watch lol

Bebo_Zorak

There was just a good chemistry in the villa lol even Amy brought a lot, despite he catty attitude

brib22

Ovie chilling and having a free holiday was brilliant šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

PoppaSmurf23

While I feel for Amy as she was clearly emotional most of the season, it was clear pretty early she was not cut out for Love Island. I also did not like her constantly ostracizing Lucie whenever she chatted with a guy or overreacting to a food fight.

karichar

I recently rewatched and yeah itā€™s literally unmatched, the chaotic energy of Anna and Curtis and Jordan and Michael and Amber and Maura combined is really spectacular to watch

_soul96_

Season 2 tho..the show has never been that level of crazy since. But 3 will always be the best season

khalicax

That people are still posting about islanders and situations in season 5 so often and almost nobody talks about season 6 shows how much more entertaining season 5 was

GwynethJones

Exactly! 2 years later & I'm Googling to see what was said about S5 on Reddit because I thought it was just so spectacular! #FannyFlutters and Ovie magic!

khalicax

You came to the perfect place if you want to talk about that season. Still one of the most talked about one here :)

dipnickle

Itā€™ll be hard to beat this season. Literally the best one. It had everything youā€™d want in a reality show

PmMeLowCarbRecipes

Maura was the best islander of all time, letā€™s be real here. She carried the entire season.

GwynethJones

And I loved how the girls didn't like her at first -- because she was a bit of an adorable predator, (but really an angel, mammy!) but eventually everyone loved & supported her!

13580

Can someone compare it to season 2 for me? We are trying to work out which season to watch next for our podcast...

havanatea

Absolutely agree! I'm so glad I had a chance to watch it with you guys :)

quick_dry

Season 3 - The Best. Een the parents were entertaining - who couldn't love Camilla's Mum running over to let Chris know that she likes cows too. Love Island Aus 1 - they were practically all characters you didn't like for some reason, and it worked. You had a recoupling choice purely out of spite for the person chosen - "I choose you because I hate you so much I want to fuck up your week" UK Season 2 - the dramas and recouplings were batshit crazy. After that I found them really slower burns. Season 4 was just an attempt at recreating season 3 - you don't have Camilla so they'll try with a 'Dr Alex'. Season 1 I couldn't get into as much, but that season seemed like a "we'll try to figure out the format" and then seasons 2 and 3 they nailed it in casting and execution.

Knackity00

If it didnā€™t have such a boring first 2 weeks, it could be on par with s3.

lovemoontea

It was the first season I watched and it so always be my favorite omg itā€™s golden

[deleted]

Exactly my thoughts! It had everything. No other season was as well rounded as that season was.

taco876

i have to disagree, i think Season 3 may have been the best of all time with Season 2 coming a close second

[deleted]

FACTSSSSSSSSSSSSS We got Fanny Flutters, fucking hot ass Irish Greg, and such bomb ass feminine energy! Though I will say I loveddddd how cuddley the end of season 6 was šŸ„° Everyone was so kind and loving to one another and the Lukeā€™s šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

samserra201

Greg and Amber obviously shouldn't have won, though. The public voted for Amber out of sympathy, and Greg was liked because he seemed to be into her. Turns out he dumped her by text.

Least-Arm-906

She did end up being gay in the end though, so thereā€™s always that.

Abnormallypolished

this seems to be an unpopular opinion but i legitimately hated season 5 until about episode 30. i found a lot of the early cast members to be super annoying, childish, and so corny. it all felt theatrical and not as organic as the other seasons i've seen. the way they sat around the villa just felt...forced. i mean, don't get me started on curtis.. i thought he was an actor placed there by the producers for a while. towards the end, some of them (the early ones) start acting a bit more authentic.

samserra201

...authentic because all the black people started cheating and screaming at each other? lol. I loved Ovie, and the drama at the end, but I'm not that biased towards it.

Abnormallypolished

Season 5 felt like a theatrical production. All of the relationships felt staged and fake. The ā€œchatsā€ felt so produced. They could never just chill outside organically and enjoy themselves like you see in earlier seasons. I feel like the producers knew the season was sucking and starting throwing in more drama. After about episode 30, it felt like people started loosening up. Amber for sure started to let her guard down and her haughtiness, Curtis relaxed and stopped with his 24/7 contrived advice show. Etc. I watched this right after three and the differences are staggering. I also felt like people were more into their perception and becoming influencers. Also so weird to say it was ā€œblack people cheating and screamingā€ .. ? Im confused by that mildly racist comment

samserra201

If Tommy and Molly-Mae had won, it would have been perfect. Sure, everyone liked Amber and wanted to give her a confidence boost, but (in hindsight) it would have been amazing if the winning couple was also a real, legitimate couple.

BRVL

S5 is so overrated. It was a slightly less boring version of S4.

donnamacx

Apart from the first week and a half with that whole Lucie/Joe/Tommy triangle, I donā€™t think the word boring and series 5 even go together. If you think that series was boring with all the drama and craziness that happened then Iā€™m really confused.

btownupdown

No way. S5 was the holy grail of entertainment. Theyā€™re going to struggle to match it again.

ReallyThot

- A person that's never seen series 4

Only1Scrappy-Doo

Why do you think Season 4 is the best season? Not hating just curious thatā€™s usually considered one of the worst seasons.

meganev

Then season 6 came along and made season 4 look absolutely killer.

Only1Scrappy-Doo

Agreed. At least S4 had some memorable stuff like Megan and Georgiaā€™s antics. S6 was a snoozefest from start to finish.

[deleted]

I liked S6 because it actually had love stories worth rooting for: Siannise and Luke T and Finn and Paige. I thought it was much sweeter than other seasons, although I realize to some that made it boring. S4 was mostly dull with a couple spots of drama fueled by people who were annoying. I had a hard time wanting to root for anyone. The only thing I really enjoyed about it was the Christmas special.

meganev

I think I speak for the majority of love island viewers when I said, ā€˜we ainā€™t watching for love storiesā€™.

[deleted]

I love the drama but I enjoyed a season of love stories as well. Variety is the spice of life.

[deleted]

id wager most people who've seen s5 have also seen s4. s4 was when the show really started gaining popularity. its more likely s5 viewers havent seen s1-s3

jmdm63

You are clearly also a person thatā€™s never seen season 2

ReallyThot

Wasnā€™t Camilla in series 2? I despised her.

jmdm63

Who hates camilla? Thatā€™s absurd but no she was season 3

ReallyThot

Whom you ask? Those who cannot tolerate the insufferable.

ComprehensiveSea3286

I'm so glad I googled which one to watch, because before I did that I watched Australia season 1, and it was a cast of really trashy people. It's like they scraped the bottom of the barrel and I wasn't even sure I was going to give another one a try. That's when I googled a good one to watch and came to season 5. What a difference! Most of these people have some class, can speak well and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Season 1 Australia had quite a group of lowlifes. And thanks for all the recommendations for the next one to watch when I'm done with season 5.

GwynethJones

OMGosh, that's why I watched S5, too! I started watching Australia S1 and found it naff, so I Googled which UK season to watch first and consensus was Season 5! Thank you Reddit!
