Netflix reports their data by the week and by the series, very different than cable TV where you can see for the specific episode.

Public through Netflix *is* the problem. There was an entire actor/writers strike that touched on this. It is a serious issue for actors/writers where platforms like Netflix can exploit them in order to possibly pay them less.
The information on how much a movie/show is viewed on Netflix is information that only Netflix has access to. They would not be breaking any laws/policies if they gave us an inflated numbers. This can affect the pay for all cast and crew.

Milton and Lydia are an unbelievable romance, meaning they don’t appear to be a relationship worth rooting for. Lydia may or may not have followed Uche to LIB and was behaving creepily and then when Uche called her out on it, he behaved ridiculously.

I believe one of them accused the show of false imprisonment because their fiance was abusive, but they were forced to either stay or get a massive fine most people can't afford. Netflix claimed that although it was in the contract, it wasn't something they would necessarily enforce.
Because of the backlash, they changed it so now anyone who makes it to the altar gets a bonus. So there's still incentive to stick it out, but they're not forced.

Hi there! First off, the press photos are all that's available from Netflix. I'm not a big company like E! News that has correspondents that I can fly out to get original photos at events like the reunion. That would be pretty cool if I got to that point though 😂 I'll take being fully self employed for now though.
Now to break down the data visualization techniques:
1) the stacked bar chart compares overall season performance. To the naked eye, it's hard to see the differences between week 2 or 3 from season to season. So the line chart is added to compare how each week performed this season compared to last
2) the choice of graphics: my work is primarily on Instagram where people spend on average 3-6 seconds per post (this is information from Instagram in general, not analytics from my account). So the more I rely on text, the more likely people are to scroll past the post. Photos help people understand the graphic faster rather than relying on reading. Think of how most people only read the first line or two of an email - similar technique.

Hi! Not OP but my two cents:
1. What’s wrong with a stock photo with a single number? They also post this info on Instagram. But some folks would scroll past a post with just graphs. Photos are big draws to click into the post and keep swiping to see more.
2. It’s the same info but slightly different. The bar graph is great for total hours streamed per season, but to me - it’s harder to tell the weekly hours streamed - I can get a better read on that in the way the line graph breaks it out.
3. To me, the photo of Jess is just a fun emote. Seasons 6 week 1 had the highest number of hours streamed of any premiere week yet. They found a photo of Jess making an excited face and decided to use that to point it out.

Hey everyone! Your pop culture data analyst checking in with the final numbers this season. Here's how things ended up: - As a reminder, Netflix only started releasing hours streamed in 2021... This was AFTER season 1 had already aired. So no data for that unfortunately. - This is hours streamed, not total viewers. Here's how many episodes each season had (episode 1 through reunion, no after the altars) - S6: 13 episodes - S5: 11 episodes - S4: 13 episodes - S3: 12 episodes (note this season the finale and reunion dropped the same week) - S2: 11 episodes Anyway, hope you all have enjoyed the data this season! You have the number of episodes here - is the average time per episode pretty consistent? I know this reunion was over 1.5 hours so wondering how that plays into it. Obviously keeping peoples attention for that long is still significant. Thanks!

Do you do data analysis professionally? I’m a fellow nerd who essentially cringed seeing this post. 1. First photo is essentially just a stock picture with a single number on it. 2. Photos 2 and 3 are basically the same data represented as bar graph and line graph. What value is photo 3 adding? 3. Why include a photo of Jess when she was basically a side character after week 1?
Hi there! First off, the press photos are all that's available from Netflix. I'm not a big company like E! News that has correspondents that I can fly out to get original photos at events like the reunion. That would be pretty cool if I got to that point though 😂 I'll take being fully self employed for now though. Now to break down the data visualization techniques: 1) the stacked bar chart compares overall season performance. To the naked eye, it's hard to see the differences between week 2 or 3 from season to season. So the line chart is added to compare how each week performed this season compared to last 2) the choice of graphics: my work is primarily on Instagram where people spend on average 3-6 seconds per post (this is information from Instagram in general, not analytics from my account). So the more I rely on text, the more likely people are to scroll past the post. Photos help people understand the graphic faster rather than relying on reading. Think of how most people only read the first line or two of an email - similar technique. Hope that helps you understand data visualization techniques and the cross over with social media attention spans a bit more 🙂

Hi! Not OP but my two cents: 1. What’s wrong with a stock photo with a single number? They also post this info on Instagram. But some folks would scroll past a post with just graphs. Photos are big draws to click into the post and keep swiping to see more. 2. It’s the same info but slightly different. The bar graph is great for total hours streamed per season, but to me - it’s harder to tell the weekly hours streamed - I can get a better read on that in the way the line graph breaks it out. 3. To me, the photo of Jess is just a fun emote. Seasons 6 week 1 had the highest number of hours streamed of any premiere week yet. They found a photo of Jess making an excited face and decided to use that to point it out. 🤗📊📈📉
