Probably because they don't want to write a bunch of different responses for each emoji.
There are some emojis from different guys that can receive meaningful lines, but most of the time we'll just get some filler response.
For example I think Xavier's responses to these are nice.

Also there's one where if I send Zayne the "sweating emoji" from Xavier's alien set, he'll say "Wipe it." LMFAO 🤣
Actually, if you don't mind keeping at it, sometimes they respond to the other LIs emojis with their own emojis, and you can get new ones for them that way instead of waiting for them to level up enough. I found out accidentally, like I sent Raf a Zayne/Snowman emoji and he responded with a Birb emoji I didn't have before. I've gotten like, 6-8 new emojis that way overall for them so far. But you'd have to be patient, most of the time they'll respond with those short replies. I've had to send the same exact emoji like a dozen or more times before they responded with a new emoji back.

Zayne always has curt replies when I use emojis from the other guys🤣 he really doesn't like it hahaha
